Google Pixel 6 vs 6 Pro UNBOXING - Which Should You Buy? - YouTube

Channel: SuperSaf

[0]
- After months of leaks,
[1]
the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are finally official.
[5]
What's up, guys? SuperSaf here.
[7]
Let's go ahead get these unboxed,
[9]
see what they have to offer,
[11]
and also put them side-by-side,
[13]
compare them to see which one might be right for you.
[16]
This video is sponsored by NordVPN.
[19]
Check out the link in the description for a special offer.
[22]
So the unboxing experience is identical with both devices.
[26]
You get the Pixel 6s, some paperwork with a SIM card tool,
[30]
a USB type-C to USB type-C cable,
[33]
a USB type-A to USB type-C converter.
[36]
And unfortunately, there is no charger included
[39]
out of the box.
[40]
This is something that we were expecting,
[42]
and it has become a trend, unfortunately.
[47]
(plastic clicks)
[49]
And here we are, the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.
[52]
Now, obviously, the design is no surprise.
[54]
Google have officially revealed it themselves months ago,
[58]
but it's nice to see these in hand.
[59]
I do think they look better in person compared
[62]
to the renders.
[62]
So we've got this pretty unique design
[65]
with this strip over here for the camera module.
[68]
I'm sure there's going to be lots of memes around this,
[70]
but I do like it.
[71]
I think it looks very unique.
[73]
We've got this a glossy back on both devices.
[77]
I'm generally not a fan of a glossy back.
[80]
I would have preferred a matte finish.
[82]
So they both do attract quite a lot of fingerprints.
[85]
We have a metal frame,
[86]
but for the Pixel 6, it's got a matte finish,
[90]
whereas, we've got a glossy finish on the Pixel 6 Pro.
[94]
Again, I do prefer the matte finish.
[96]
It just gives it a bit more grip as well,
[98]
and it looks a lot better, in my opinion.
[101]
And the edging around the camera module is also matte
[104]
on the Pixel 6 compared to the glossy on the Pixel 6 Pro.
[107]
So right away, I would consider a case or a skin.
[110]
You can always pick up a grip case
[112]
or a skin from our channel sponsor dbrand.
[115]
They've got lots of different options
[117]
for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.
[119]
And with the grip cases,
[120]
you're not just stuck with one style.
[121]
You can always mix it up and just change the skin,
[125]
which is actually on the grip case.
[127]
I'll leave a link to dbrand down in the description below.
[129]
Now, both devices are IP68 water and dust resistant,
[133]
which is great.
[135]
But then we do start seeing some differences.
[137]
So the back glass,
[139]
we've got Gorilla Glass 6 on the Pixel 6,
[142]
the 6 Pro has Gorilla Glass Victus
[145]
which is more durable.
[147]
It's the newer version.
[147]
And, of course, there's also the size differences.
[149]
So although both devices are pretty much the same thickness,
[152]
the Pixel 6 Pro is slightly taller and slightly wider.
[157]
However, there's really not much difference
[158]
in terms of the weight.
[159]
The Pixel 6 Pro is just a few grams heavier compared
[163]
to the Pixel 6.
[164]
Now switching over to the front,
[166]
we've got much bigger differences.
[168]
So the screen size,
[169]
the Pixel 6 Pro has a larger 6.7 inch display
[173]
versus the 6.4 inch display.
[174]
You'll also notice that the Pixel 6 Pro
[177]
does have smaller bezels compared to the Pixel 6.
[180]
And there's a curved display on the Pixel 6 Pro,
[184]
whereas we've got a flat display on the Pixel 6.
[187]
Punch out for the selfie camera.
[188]
Both devices are using OLED technology;
[191]
however, the Pixel 6 Pro is superior.
[194]
The Pixel 6 comes with a full HD+ resolution,
[197]
whereas the Pixel 6 Pro has quad HD+ resolution.
[200]
So we're getting a higher pixel density,
[202]
which means details are sharper.
[204]
But more importantly,
[205]
the Pixel 6 has a 90-hertz refresh rate,
[209]
whereas the Pixel 6 Pro can go all the way up to 120 hertz,
[213]
making things a lot smoother.
[215]
Now, 90 hertz is still good.
[217]
120 hertz is just going to be better
[219]
when you're scrolling through your social media feeds,
[220]
when you're gaming.
[221]
And the Pixel 6 Pro also uses LTPO technology,
[226]
which the Pixel 6 does not.
[228]
What does that mean?
[229]
Well, on the Pixel 6,
[230]
you're just going to be able to switch between 60 and 90 hertz,
[233]
which means even when you have something static like this,
[236]
it's still refreshing 60 times a second,
[239]
which can have an impact on battery life.
[241]
The Pixel 6 Pro, however, thanks to the LTPO technology,
[245]
can go all the way down to just 10 hertz.
[247]
So when we've got something static here,
[249]
then it's only going to be refreshing 10 times a second
[252]
rather than 60 or 120 times a second.
[255]
Now, the front displays both have Gorilla Glass Victus,
[258]
and we do have an in-display fingerprint scanner
[261]
on both devices, which works really well.
[263]
And before we move on to talking about the cameras,
[265]
a quick thanks to our sponsor for this video, NordVPN.
[269]
So, you guys know that the Google Pixel 6
[271]
and 6 Pro have been some of the most leaked devices
[274]
of recent times.
[276]
And if you want to make sure
[277]
that your personal information isn't leaked
[279]
and tracked by your internet service provider
[282]
and other third parties,
[283]
then you're going to want to check out NordVPN.
[286]
With NordVPN, it's as easy as a tap of a button
[289]
to connect you to the internet via a remote private server
[292]
on any of your devices,
[293]
keeping your online data private.
[295]
This also means that you can get access to content
[298]
that may not be available in your country.
[301]
This is something that I use all the time.
[302]
Lots of programs and movies are available
[306]
in the US first before the UK.
[308]
I can just log into NordVPN,
[310]
change my location to the United States,
[313]
and have access to so much more quality content.
[316]
Go to NordVPN.com/supersaf to get 73% off the two-year plan
[323]
with four additional months for free.
[325]
That is less than the cost of a cup of coffee each month.
[328]
And with NordVPN's 30-day risk-free money-back guarantee,
[332]
you really have nothing to lose.
[334]
Go ahead, try it out.
[335]
Right, now, let's move over to the cameras.
[337]
So Google Pixel devices have been known for their cameras
[340]
and the combination of hardware and software for some time.
[345]
One of the things that we have had, however,
[347]
on Google Pixel devices
[348]
is that the camera hardware really hasn't been changed
[351]
over the past few years.
[352]
That is different this year.
[353]
We've got a brand new 50-megapixel primary camera sensor,
[358]
and this can give you around 150% more light compared
[362]
to what we had on the Pixel 5.
[364]
We have the exact same primary camera
[366]
on both the Pixel 6 as well as the 6 Pro.
[369]
The ultrawide camera is also the same on both devices,
[372]
12 megapixels with a 114-degree angle of view.
[376]
However, the Pixel 6 Pro does get an additional camera.
[380]
This is 48 megapixels,
[381]
uses periscope zoom technology,
[383]
and can give you up to four times optical zoom.
[386]
Now, this is nowhere near the 10 times optical zoom
[390]
that we get on the S21 Ultra, for example.
[393]
That is also using periscope zoom technology.
[396]
But, of course, guys,
[397]
I'm going to be doing some SuperSaf-style camera comparisons
[400]
of the Pixel 6 Pro versus the competition.
[404]
So definitely let me know in the comments below
[406]
which device you'd like me to compare it to first.
[409]
And also don't forget to subscribe and hit that bell icon
[412]
because you're really not going to want to miss it.
[414]
Google has also introduced some new software features
[416]
along with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro,
[418]
which I can't show you as yet.
[420]
But we've got things like the Magic Eraser,
[422]
which is going to let you get rid of people
[425]
in the background that are photobombing your shots,
[427]
as well as Face Unblur,
[429]
which is going to try to restore faces in images
[432]
where there might be some motion on faces.
[434]
For video, both devices can now film
[436]
up to 4K/60 frames a second,
[439]
and we've also got 4K HDR+ video recording.
[444]
Now, Pixel devices traditionally
[445]
have not had the best video, unfortunately,
[448]
although they take great images,
[450]
so I'm really excited to test these out.
[452]
Stay tuned.
[453]
Now we do have some differences
[454]
for the front-facing cameras.
[456]
The Pixel 6 has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
[459]
The Pixel 6 Pro has around 11-megapixel front-facing camera.
[463]
You've also got the option to take wide-angle selfies,
[466]
around 94 degrees on the Pixel 6 Pro.
[469]
And the Pixel 6 Pro can also record at 4K
[472]
up to 30 frames a second from the front-facing camera.
[475]
On the Pixel 6, you still only have 1080p
[478]
up to 30 frames a second, unfortunately.
[481]
Okay, now let's talk about performance.
[483]
So one of the newest things
[484]
that we've got this year is the fact
[487]
that Google are using a custom chip.
[489]
So, traditionally, we'll have a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset,
[493]
but Google is using their own Tensor chipset.
[497]
Now with this, it seems like Google is going to be able
[499]
to optimize the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro
[502]
to make the most of the hardware along with the software.
[506]
We've also got the dedicated Titan M2 Chip
[509]
for increased security.
[510]
And the Pixel 6 has 8 gigabytes of RAM.
[514]
The Pixel 6 Pro has 12 gigabytes of RAM,
[516]
so you're going to get better multitasking
[518]
on the Pixel 6 Pro.
[520]
For storage, both using UFS 3.1 storage,
[523]
and they are available in 128 or 256-gigabyte options.
[528]
Right, for software, being Pixel devices,
[531]
they do come with a clean version of Android
[535]
from Google themselves, and they will be coming
[538]
with the latest out of the box, Android 12.
[540]
But I'd say the most important news here is the fact
[543]
that Google is promising a minimum of five years of updates
[548]
with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro,
[550]
which is a very long time,
[552]
and I think they'll be able to do this thanks to the fact
[554]
that they've got their custom chipsets
[556]
along with the software,
[557]
so they'll be able to support the hardware
[560]
with their software for much longer.
[562]
Now, with Android 12, there's already been lots of videos
[565]
that you may have already seen,
[568]
so I'm not going to cover Android 12 in too much detail.
[570]
We'll hold that for the full review.
[572]
Now we've got stereo speakers on both devices.
[574]
There's one in the earpiece
[576]
and then we've got bottom-firing.
[577]
Although both devices have support for 5G,
[580]
the Pixel 6 Pro does have ultra-wideband technology,
[585]
which is going to help it better connect
[587]
with other devices that are compatible.
[590]
Right, batteries, so the Pixel 6 has roughly
[593]
around a 4,600 milliamp hour battery.
[596]
The Pixel 6 Pro has a larger 5,000 milliamp hour battery.
[599]
So the Pixel 6 Pro along with the LTPO technology
[603]
and the larger battery size
[604]
should give you better battery life.
[606]
I'll cover the full battery usage in my full review.
[609]
And both devices do support fast charging.
[612]
Charger, of course, is not included out of the box.
[614]
It's a 30-watt charger
[615]
that you're going to have to buy separately.
[618]
The Pixel 6 Pro will charge faster, however.
[620]
You can go from 0 to 50% in around 30 minutes,
[624]
whereas on the Pixel 6,
[626]
you can only go to around 30% in 30 minutes,
[629]
both devices also support Qi wireless charging.
[632]
The Pixel 6 Pro can charge slightly faster
[635]
at 23 watts compared to 21 watts.
[637]
Now these highest speeds for wireless charging are specific
[641]
to the Google Pixel Stand Gen 2,
[644]
which you're going to have to buy separately.
[646]
If you use a standard Qi wireless charger,
[649]
then you'll only be able to get a maximum of 12 watts
[652]
of wireless charging.
[653]
This is something that I'm not too keen on.
[655]
I don't like proprietary hardware
[658]
for higher charging speeds.
[659]
I mean, there's lots
[660]
of really good wireless chargers out there,
[663]
which do charge faster,
[664]
so I would have liked to have the flexibility.
[667]
And we've also got Battery Share.
[669]
This is where you'll be able to charge other devices
[671]
on the back of the Pixels wirelessly.
[674]
So, say, you've got some Pixel Buds,
[675]
you can just pop them at the back.
[677]
Something that I don't use too much,
[679]
but it's always nice to have when you need it.
[681]
Right, now, let's talk about pricing.
[683]
So, the Pixel 6 in the UK
[685]
is going to be starting at around 拢600,
[687]
the Pixel 6 Pro will be starting at right 拢850.
[693]
So you will be paying a decent amount more,
[695]
around 50, 55% more for the Pixel 6 Pro compared
[700]
to the Pixel 6.
[701]
What are you getting for that additional money?
[703]
Well, you're getting that better display
[705]
with the high refresh rate, the higher resolution,
[708]
you're getting the bigger battery,
[710]
you're getting that additional telephoto camera
[712]
with 4x optical zoom,
[714]
you're getting the better front-facing camera.
[716]
and you're getting the additional RAM
[717]
for better multitasking.
[719]
Now, personally, I'm super interested
[721]
in the Pixel 6 Pro in particular.
[724]
I think the price of 拢850 is quite competitive
[727]
when you look at some of the other devices available
[730]
in the market right now.
[731]
We are looking at a flagship price of around 拢900 and above.
[735]
But most importantly,
[736]
I'm very interested to see what the cameras are like
[738]
compared to some other devices out there.
[742]
If you want to see the SuperSaf-style camera comparisons,
[745]
first, once again, reminder,
[747]
don't forget to subscribe and hit that bell icon.
[749]
Those will be coming very, very soon.
[751]
I'm working on them as we speak.
[753]
And also, let me know down in the comments below
[755]
what you think of that the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro,
[758]
and which devices you'd like me to compare them to.
[762]
I hope you enjoyed this video and found it useful.
[763]
If you did do, then do smash that like button for me.
[766]
If you want to see some related coverage,
[768]
then I have done some comparisons
[769]
with the iPhone 13 Pro Max,
[771]
which I'm going to link to the cards here.
[774]
Thanks to our sponsor NordVPN.
[775]
Don't forget to check out the offer in the description.
[778]
Thanks for watching.
[779]
This is Saf on SuperSaf TV,
[782]
and I'll see you next time.
