Channel: Douglas Massi

[0]
In this video we're going to go over how to聽 sell life insurance and it doesn't matter if聽聽
[5]
you want to sell term life insurance final聽 expense insurance whole life insurance or聽聽
[11]
universal life insurance dude it's all good we'll聽 be covering some extremely pertinent information聽聽
[17]
for anyone with a life insurance license look聽 guys most people think that insurance sales聽聽
[23]
is something that it's not and here's another聽 thing what used to work years ago isn't exactly聽聽
[28]
applicable if you want to be successful聽 today oh yeah bubba you'll see exactly聽聽
[33]
what i'm talking about and guys if you'll聽 stick around until the end of this video i'm聽聽
[38]
going to show you how to get a copy of the聽 new agent file that is perfect for anybody聽聽
[43]
that decides to target the market that made聽 final expense trainer a youtube must-watch聽聽
[48]
channel yes that's right the final expense sales聽 industry with that being said don't you move a
[54]
muscle
[66]
I'm Doug Massi and thanks for checking out our聽 youtube channel final expense trainer so before聽聽
[70]
we get started i do want to say that our videos聽 are all about selling life insurance products and聽聽
[77]
other products in the senior market including聽 medicare advantage and medicare supplements so聽聽
[83]
with that being said if you're newly licensed or聽 you're thinking about getting licensed to sell how聽聽
[89]
does you want to know how to sell life insurance聽 products you're going to either start as a captive聽聽
[95]
agent or a independent agent and to start please聽 give this video a thumbs up that way youtube will聽聽
[101]
keep sharing our content with new viewers and聽 subscribe with the notifications turned on ding聽聽
[107]
the little bell want to ring that thing that way聽 you'll be notified whenever we do put out a new聽聽
[112]
video now with being captive versus independent聽 the problem is there's a lot a lot of like semi聽聽
[119]
captive shops they tell you you're independent聽 but you're really captive and what happens is like聽聽
[125]
one way to know that is they won't release you聽 and like the commission levels are going to start聽聽
[130]
for the first year commission levels are going to聽 be like 100 percent or less look there's nothing聽聽
[135]
wrong with starting with a company like primerica聽 or new york life just remember when you sell an聽聽
[140]
insurance product through them your commission's聽 going to be about 25 of what it should be or less聽聽
[145]
uh 30 first year commission on a life insurance聽 product that's like like term life or ul a whole聽聽
[154]
life is ridiculous you're getting crushed so聽 as a captive agent there are a lot of pros聽聽
[163]
and cons and i will say i started out as captive聽 and now i'm completely independent our agency what聽聽
[170]
we do at our agency is we teach independent聽 insurance agents how to do the process and聽聽
[175]
we start our commissions basically 110 or higher聽 for new agents that are willing to commit to leads聽聽
[182]
so you know just keep that in mind because you're聽 going to need leads in order to sell insurance so聽聽
[188]
if you're going to commit to leads with you know聽 some multi-level marketing company and get paid 60聽聽
[194]
first commission you might as well consider聽 working with a legitimate company like ours聽聽
[199]
however i did start as a captive agent and it聽 was the best thing i could have done my first聽聽
[206]
year commission was 60 at one point i learned聽 so much and we'll get into that at one point聽聽
[212]
i actually asked my boss after being there for a聽 couple years if i could get an extra five points聽聽
[217]
and his answer was and this is the old school聽 mentality if you're not happy here you can go聽聽
[223]
meanwhile i'm his top guy so whatever that's the聽 mentality things used to be in this business but聽聽
[230]
what i learned was super priceless their system聽 is why i was a top producer why i was their聽聽
[236]
number one producer out of the two insurance聽 agencies they have they taught me work ethic聽聽
[241]
i had to be in the office basically five days a聽 week to make phone calls for a couple of hours聽聽
[247]
and they would have meetings and we would talk聽 about like i would talk with the manager about聽聽
[252]
the sale that i made the night before and we would聽 go over it so you're learning as you're selling聽聽
[258]
and you're learning from your mistakes and stuff聽 that to me is awesome that is why you want to be聽聽
[265]
captive if you're going to be captive and you're聽 going to give up a bunch of commission the other聽聽
[269]
thing that they had was a fixed cost lead program聽 so i knew that i was going to be able to have and聽聽
[276]
back then when i was at hartford age i was going聽 to have my 10 direct mail aids that were brand new聽聽
[280]
every single week and i love that nowadays you聽 can be with a legitimate agency like ours and聽聽
[286]
still get the much better commissions the聽 better training and access to those same聽聽
[291]
fixed cost leads and we never resell our leads and聽 that's the problem with most captive companies so聽聽
[297]
if you're going to be a captive agent you're most聽 likely the first leads they're going to give you聽聽
[301]
at least until you know what you're doing a聽 little bit are going to be leads that someone else聽聽
[307]
already worked and in most cases you'll actually聽 have to pay for those leads imagine having to聽聽
[312]
buy leads that other agents had that they couldn't聽 sell and my phone night then i had to be we called聽聽
[320]
it an office evening monday was full and my phone聽 night was sunday so i had to come in from like聽聽
[327]
four until nine o'clock on sundays didn't聽 matter if the miami dolphins were playing or not聽聽
[333]
i had to be in that office on the phone setting聽 appointments that was part of the process that聽聽
[339]
taught me how to get really good on the phone聽 and taught me work ethic too and it's funny聽聽
[344]
because even when i was able to switch to monday聽 i realized that sunday was the best phone day and聽聽
[349]
so for those of you calling your leads to me聽 the two best days to call to set appointments聽聽
[356]
are saturdays mainly in the morning so maybe聽 between ten and two those four hours you can get聽聽
[363]
more out of working i should say calling six hours聽 on a regular day um but sunday evening sunday聽聽
[370]
evening people answer the phone no one's trying聽 to sell people stuff on sunday so they will most聽聽
[375]
likely think who could this be and actually answer聽 the phone so there's your pro tip for the day call聽聽
[381]
on sundays and if you think what i'm saying is聽 nonsense please leave a comment i love to hear聽聽
[387]
from you guys i don't care if you agree with what聽 i'm saying or disagree please share something聽聽
[393]
love it ask me a question got a suggestion for a聽 video in the comments below when we first started聽聽
[399]
doing mortgage protection i should say i was聽 doing it before my wife got licensed one of the聽聽
[404]
things that was crazy about your typical mortgage聽 protection life insurance sale is that i would聽聽
[410]
drive an hour for one appointment and that would聽 be normal sometimes even further even a little bit聽聽
[415]
hour and 20 hours 30 minutes and if there was聽 traffic you were you were stuck it happened in聽聽
[419]
miami there were times where i'd be in traffic for聽 like two hours go to one appointment and then come聽聽
[424]
back home one of the things i love about final聽 expense sales is that when you have a lot of leads聽聽
[431]
you're spending less time in the appointments聽 than a regular mortgage protections if you're聽聽
[435]
you're doing a good presentation selling your聽 typical life insurance mortgage protection product聽聽
[440]
you're in the house with the client for like聽 45 minutes before you give the price if you're聽聽
[445]
doing a really good job explaining the product聽 actually what i was selling for the hartford聽聽
[449]
was a universal life so the presentation i got聽 to talk about you know how the pricing worked聽聽
[455]
and how the different options were available and聽 how cash value worked with the universal life pro聽聽
[460]
uh product and also like the interest rates the聽 guaranteed interest rate versus the non-guaranteed聽聽
[466]
interest rate so for me that was a great product聽 for me to start with the presentation was long so聽聽
[471]
by the time we got to final expense and聽 we started calling to set our appointments聽聽
[474]
i learned that's not how you do it if you're聽 going to one area that's an hour away i would聽聽
[479]
have either multiple appointments set or at least聽 a lot of leads i'm not going to drive one hour to聽聽
[486]
one appointment and you shouldn't either unless聽 you're selling a life insurance product like聽聽
[493]
mortgage protection where you just don't have the聽 leads and the appointments and a big difference to聽聽
[498]
me between selling mortgage protection and selling聽 final expenses that with mortgage protection聽聽
[504]
you really can't i mean you can if you really want聽 you can door knock leads but it's so much harder聽聽
[510]
with final expense if you're working easier rural聽 areas like the ones that we have always traveled聽聽
[516]
through throughout florida you're going to be able聽 to door knock your leads and get inside real easy聽聽
[521]
compared to mortgage protection so the bottom line聽 is more leads and if you're doing final expense聽聽
[529]
more pre you're going to get in more doors more聽 presentations and more sales than you will with聽聽
[533]
mortgage protection and there are downfalls or聽 negatives and pros about both one of the other聽聽
[539]
thing is like mortgage protection it's hard you're聽 selling to professionals so if you're a real聽聽
[544]
classy type of guy or gal it's going to be easier聽 for you especially if you're a professional聽聽
[550]
sales person it's going to be easier for you to聽 sell mortgage protection if you have the leads聽聽
[553]
like i said i i couldn't even get the leads聽 at the end the leads were gone so but even聽聽
[559]
if you're working other type of leads and you're聽 figuring out ways to do it you're selling to these聽聽
[563]
people that are kind of picky and they think they聽 know it all think about you're selling to doctors聽聽
[569]
they think they're god so final expense the聽 opposite the senior market is the easiest聽聽
[575]
people in the world to sell to the second聽 thing i love about the final expense is that聽聽
[581]
once you have these clients now if you decide聽 later that you want to do i don't know medicare聽聽
[587]
advantage sales you've already got clients that聽 you can legally compliantly go back to and sell聽聽
[594]
now the negative on the final expense side is the聽 placement and the persistence is not going to be聽聽
[601]
as good as your typical life insurance sale but聽 look when you're running a lot of leads which you聽聽
[607]
can get a lot of leads for final expense you're聽 going to make more sales anyways and there's聽聽
[612]
renewals on most of the term in ul products聽 there's like super little renewal if any at all聽聽
[618]
direct mail is king no matter what you're selling聽 but there's more than one way to skin a cat right聽聽
[625]
you can run your own ads on facebook there聽 is nothing wrong with purchasing a program聽聽
[630]
you can get a program for maybe around a thousand聽 dollars that basically will teach you everything聽聽
[636]
you need to be able to create your own insurance聽 ads there's a bunch of companies that do it聽聽
[643]
so maybe that would be something to look into聽 if you're real smart otherwise you can purchase聽聽
[647]
a lot of these facebook leads or or even google聽 type of internet leads if you're buying a five聽聽
[653]
dollar insurance lead you're buying a piece of聽 garbage if you're spending five bucks on a lead聽聽
[660]
you are buying a lead especially if it's anything聽 internet or computer related that is being sold to聽聽
[665]
everybody else so don't waste your time i don't聽 even consider elite to me you're better off in聽聽
[671]
the phone book just dialing through numbers聽 oh we don't have phone books anymore ah now聽聽
[674]
you know how old i am so but you're probably聽 better off doing that than working these cheap聽聽
[680]
garbage internet leads and if you're thinking well聽 maybe i can do my own mail drops for regular life聽聽
[685]
insurance for mortgage protection that's going聽 to be tough too i'm telling you the returns are聽聽
[690]
really really bad you can easily spend five six聽 hundred dollars on a mail drop targeting your聽聽
[697]
specific people only to get back a few leads you聽 don't want to do that that's one of the reasons聽聽
[704]
that we love final expense it's just too easy聽 to generate the leads to get the leads compared聽聽
[710]
to the other industry now is it super easy not聽 for someone that doesn't know what they're doing聽聽
[714]
that's new that thinks they're going to figure聽 it all out and recreate the wheel you're you're聽聽
[718]
already on your way out of the business if that's聽 your thinking but we already have platforms that聽聽
[723]
work all insurance agencies do so i really suggest聽 if you want to know how to sell life insurance聽聽
[730]
products do what you're uploaing what your聽 agency is teaching you do what other people that聽聽
[735]
are successful are doing exactly whether you're聽 independent or you're captive it doesn't matter聽聽
[742]
follow the leaders with general life insurance聽 sales a lot of agents they don't have money聽聽
[747]
they're not sure maybe not real good at sales a聽 lot of the uh especially the multi-level marketing聽聽
[753]
companies and the companies like new york life聽 and like primerica are going to tell you to go聽聽
[757]
sell your friends and family to me depending on聽 your personality maybe there's nothing wrong with聽聽
[764]
that i never did that me trying to sell my family聽 member something like this has always been kind of聽聽
[771]
weird i would bring it to their attention let them聽 know that i have the products but the last thing聽聽
[776]
that i'm gonna be is that guy at the barbecue聽 that everybody avoids you don't have money for聽聽
[781]
leads your new pnc agencies a lot of them will聽 allow you to come into their office to call聽聽
[789]
their clients and make sure their clients are okay聽 with what they have and or the clients that don't聽聽
[799]
have the insurance with them anymore recall them聽 and basically let them know hey i work for joe's聽聽
[803]
pnc i'm just calling to make sure everything is聽 okay you have any question about your homeowners聽聽
[807]
if you do you can always call us i'm there oh聽 and by the way we have a new program that's聽聽
[812]
designed to cover your mortgage and pay for your聽 mortgage in the event that you or your wife die聽聽
[818]
i'll tell you what why don't i come out it'll take聽 me 20 minutes to go over this with you i've got an聽聽
[822]
opening tomorrow between 9 00 and 9 30. how's that聽 with you okay if they're getting the pnc agency is聽聽
[829]
getting some benefit out of this then they will聽 allow you to do it and this is pretty much a book聽聽
[836]
of business that you have to work with right from聽 day one which in the event where if you go captive聽聽
[842]
a lot of these captive shops are going to give you聽 customers like that to call a lot of them won't聽聽
[847]
even have leads they'll be like yeah we got leads聽 here's a book of business these are our clients聽聽
[851]
give them a call go sell them more insurance聽 get creative i met a gal so we did a training聽聽
[857]
with a group of insurance agents just a couple聽 weeks ago and i met this gal and what she did was聽聽
[864]
phenomenal she said hey guys she was from thailand聽 she says i know of a really good thai restaurant聽聽
[870]
we went to the thai russ there was a big group of聽 insurance agents there hanging out eating enjoying聽聽
[875]
it and i noticed she really socialized with them聽 a lot and she helped all of us with our orders聽聽
[880]
i know thai food so didn't need to help me but聽 anyways awesome gal what i realized she was doing聽聽
[885]
was bringing business to this company this place聽 she had never been to okay and then going back聽聽
[891]
and selling them universal life insurance get聽 creative if you're thinking about selling over聽聽
[897]
the phone it is the hardest thing in the world聽 when you're new unless you are a super talented聽聽
[902]
telesales person and you find a company with a聽 system and that's really the way to sell over聽聽
[907]
the phone don't try to figure it out on your own聽 it's going to be hard if you think you're going to聽聽
[911]
call like a list of names and sell over the phone聽 you're wasting your time and everybody else's find聽聽
[915]
an insurance agency with the products that you聽 want to sell over the phone and sell them over聽聽
[920]
the phone face-to-face kind of the same thing when聽 you're new you're going to need help you're going聽聽
[925]
to need guidance it's up to you figure to figure聽 out what's best for you and how you're going to聽聽
[930]
sell guys hopefully you got something out of this聽 for a copy of the free new agent file i mentioned聽聽
[935]
earlier email me at doug ufesonline.com for聽 information on joining our sales team and selling聽聽
[941]

[947]

[953]
needs of your clients first everything聽 else will usually fall right into place
