Trading 101: What “Directly” Affects a Stock’s Price? - YouTube

[0]
what directly affects a stock's price
[3]
what is gonna cause this price to move
[6]
let's talk about that a little bit
[8]
deeper here before we get into this
[17]
video down below I've done a video
[18]
entitled you know how was a stock price
[21]
determined and you can go and watch that
[22]
if you want but you know that video
[24]
essentially in a nutshell is supply and
[26]
demand when people want shares when
[29]
people want stock and a lot of people
[31]
want it prices will go up when people
[33]
don't want it when people you don't want
[35]
to sell what they've already owned and
[37]
bought then that's where prices are
[39]
gonna go down but I got this question on
[42]
a youtube comment and it's it's pretty
[44]
much asking I think another layer deeper
[46]
so going down another layer in terms of
[49]
you know what is actually you know
[51]
directly affecting a stock and it's
[54]
pricing yes again overall supply and
[56]
demand when people want something it's
[58]
gonna go up in price when people don't
[59]
want it it's gonna go down in price it's
[61]
gonna go down in value but what is
[63]
actually directly affecting this so
[65]
let's first get to this comment and then
[67]
you know we'll get into hopefully me
[69]
being able to describe this at a little
[71]
bit more of a narrower level now this
[74]
person says a lot more but I want to
[76]
just kind of focus on one comment in
[78]
particular they say does the revenue of
[81]
the company directly affect the stock
[83]
price this whole concept is there's a
[85]
lot of gray area because now that brings
[86]
up the question well how are you
[88]
defining directly what do you mean by
[89]
directly affecting and at its core I
[92]
like the way this was phrased because it
[94]
brings up a dynamic of the market's
[96]
revenue and revenue is just pretty much
[101]
how much money a company is generating
[103]
not the profit but this is not an
[105]
accounting class but just how much money
[106]
is a company generating from its sales
[109]
and on this this being a piece of paper
[114]
you know you have all sorts of documents
[117]
that that companies have associated with
[119]
them now you have balance sheets you
[123]
have cash flow statements and you have
[127]
lots of other different things that tell
[129]
you about a company tell you how a
[131]
company is doing
[133]
and the persons question is all right so
[135]
in this case you know revenue but you
[137]
could definitely fill in the blank with
[138]
any of these other things is that
[140]
directly affecting the price no it's not
[144]
directly affecting the price it is what
[146]
it isn't and this is where I don't know
[148]
quite understand what this person is
[150]
saying by directly but I do know what
[151]
they're understanding but my point here
[153]
is the thing that is ultimately
[157]
directing the price and affecting the
[159]
price is not and I kind of lied I guess
[162]
in the video I refer to down below
[163]
because I was saying it's all about
[165]
whining
[166]
people not whining supply and demand
[168]
there's actually another layer that
[172]
encapsulates both supply and demand you
[174]
know and then revenue and that is just
[176]
called one word perception meaning what
[186]
do people think about the revenue what
[190]
do people think about balanced cash flow
[192]
all of that what do people think what do
[195]
people perceive about what they think
[198]
may happen in the future as far as
[200]
growth or maybe not growth that is
[202]
what's actually affecting the stock
[204]
price because with somebody's perceiving
[207]
or with somebody's perception what
[209]
they're perceiving what's that gonna do
[211]
well that's gonna go and then that's
[213]
where the demand may come from or if
[217]
they're not you know their perception is
[219]
what they're perceiving implies that's
[223]
where maybe the supply is coming from or
[226]
in other words people lining to sell and
[228]
that's where prices would go down so
[231]
it's all about perception does revenue
[234]
directly affect it I would say no it
[236]
doesn't directly affect it what directly
[238]
affects things is the perception because
[241]
perception is then going to cause people
[242]
to go and make choices that are either
[245]
creating demand or supply for that stock
[249]
and to pay based on that that is where
[251]
the price and what is going to affect
[253]
the price comes from revenue all this
[256]
sort of stuff it without doubt plays a
[258]
role but is it the direct effect
[260]
Howard argue no and we could probably
[262]
get into a big semantics and
[264]
philosophical argument about this
[266]
and I'm aware of that but I mean as far
[269]
as just trying to keep remembering this
[270]
is in the trading 101 section of the
[272]
site so this is not like some sort of
[274]
I'm not trying to make this overly
[275]
complicated but just answer these sorts
[277]
of questions in terms of directly
[278]
affecting the price at the end of the
[280]
day it's all about perception how people
[282]
perceive revenue quick little example
[284]
and you know you can do this if you want
[286]
but what I like to do is you know a
[288]
company will release their earnings and
[290]
I will go down and read through things
[292]
and say oh well geez I am perceiving
[293]
that as that sounds good that sounds
[295]
good and then you watch the stock that
[297]
day and the price goes totally down well
[301]
which is the case well revenue was good
[304]
you know the cash flow was good the
[306]
bound statement was good but then the
[309]
price goes and does something totally
[310]
else well that is because the perception
[313]
of what I'm seeing my perception is
[315]
different so everybody's perception is
[318]
going to be different and that's what
[319]
makes a stock market such a fascinating
[321]
thing it makes it the ultimate game upon
[323]
games because it's who's best at
[325]
perceiving what is actually going on
[327]
revenue was just a number but how that
[330]
number is perceived is what's gonna
[332]
dictate demand what's gonna dictate
[333]
supply and that's what's gonna autumn ly
[335]
dictate you know how a price unfold so I
[338]
don't know if I answer the question I
[339]
think I did but it's a hard question but
[342]
revenue all this stuff directly no it
[345]
does not directly it plays a role at the
[347]
end of the day it's all about perception
[349]
and how people are perceiving revenue
[351]
and the other dynamics within the market
[354]
if you're out there trading alone
[356]
currently and maybe are in the market
[358]
looking for a community to join to
[360]
assist you in your trading or to just
[362]
help you you don't give you another set
[363]
of eyeballs then I do have a private
[365]
trading community where you can trade
[366]
alongside me and other experienced
[368]
traders so what you see popping up on
[370]
the screen right now is both an
[372]
information link so if you click on the
[374]
inner circle one that is going to take
[376]
you to the page where I explain all the
[378]
details of what exactly come with the
[380]
community both the chatroom and the
[381]
newsletter and then the other image that
[383]
has popped up is a behind-the-scenes
[384]
tour where you can see exactly what is
[387]
going to you know be contained within
[389]
the community I take you through like I
[391]
said a behind-the-scenes tour of
[392]
everything and that way you'll know
[393]
precisely what you are getting you know
[396]
when you join so definitely check that
[398]
stuff out if you are interested
[399]
and thinking about you don't want it to
[401]
join a community and let me know if you
[403]
have any questions
