[23]

[25]
This is a little bit
of information about me.
[26]
You'll learn more about who I am,
[28]
what my journey has been like
and why you should listen to me.
[31]
I was able to overcome the cycle
[33]
of poverty, and I'll help you
overcome the cycle of poverty.
[36]
Let's start by examining what's going
[38]
on with the $3.5 trillion stimulus package.
[42]
If you've been following our channel,
the Ignition Time channel.
[45]
I did do an episode where I talked about
[48]
where I broke the news about the
conservative Democrat from West Virginia,
[51]
Joe Manchin,
[52]
essentially calling for a pause
in the infrastructure negotiations
[56]
and saying, hey, we don't
need $3.5 trillion.
[59]
Well, folks,
[59]
House Speaker Pelosi, the most powerful Democrat
in Congress, said, thanks, but no thanks.
[65]
Here's a headline of an article
on your screen from CNN.
[68]
Pelosi rejects Manchin's
[69]
call for a pause and shows little
[72]
willingness to pare back
the $3.5 trillion bill.
[76]
This is what House Speaker Pelosi
said to CNN,
[79]
obviously, I don't agree.
[81]
And this is what
House Speaker Pelosi said,
[83]
the number is the number, $3.5 trillion,
[87]
we can't go above that.
[89]
And she was asked whether
she'll go below that level.
[92]
She simply said, Why? Folks, this is
a sign of a showdown, if you will.
[97]
A clash between House Speaker Pelosi
and the Senate Majority Leader Chuck
[102]
Schumer on one side and on the other side,
the conservative Democrat
[106]
from West Virginia, Joe Manchin and
Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona,
[110]
who both have said that they don't
support a package as large as this.
[114]
When she was specifically asked about
[116]
this, House Speaker Pelosi said, Well,
you have to go talk to the Senate about
[120]
that, but we're going to have to pay
for as much of it as possible.
[124]
Folks, the Democrats are in a very,
very difficult situation right now because
[129]
they have all these priorities
pertaining to the social safety net.
[133]
They want to ramp up government spending
on key Democratic priorities like
[137]
healthcare and climate change, and they
want to raise taxes to pay for all this.
[141]
But behind the scenes,
[142]
Democrats are struggling to find consensus
on a whole range of issues,
[146]
including the expansion of Medicare,
which Progressives want.
[150]
In fact, House Speaker Pelosi
downplayed all of these disagreements.
[154]
And she said that the bill would be,
[156]
"transformative for women in the workplace."
[159]
She said, this,
"I'm pretty excited about where we are.
[163]
Everybody's working very hard.
[164]
The committees are doing their work.
[166]
We're on a good time table,
and I feel very exhilarated about it."
[171]
So you can start to see
[172]
that House Speaker Pelosi is trying
to ram this whole thing through.
[175]
But on the other hand,
Senator Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema
[179]
have actually said that they will not
support a bill with this huge price tag.
[183]
In fact, Joe Manchin said he will not
[185]
support, I, quote, anywhere near
that level of additional spending.
[191]
House Speaker Pelosi last month did
actually negotiate with moderate
[195]
Democrats, and she said that she's going
to pass the $3.5 trillion bills.
[200]
She said that's the plan when she was
asked about the September 27
[204]
infrastructure vote that's coming up
at the end of this month because this is
[208]
a high six month for the Biden agenda,
as many Democrat have set a deadline
[213]
of September 15 to finalize this three
$5 trillion reconciliation proposal.
[218]
And September 27,
which is the other deadline to vote
[223]
on the bipartisan infrastructure,
built the $1 billion infrastructure bill.
[229]
So folks, clearly there's a lot of back
and forth that's going on and how
[233]
Speaker Pelosi did not say how Democrats
would address the debt ceiling hike
[238]
and whether they would try
to attach it to other bills.
[241]
But but she said they'll
try and get it done.
[243]
And how Speaker Pelosi also said this we'd
[246]
like to do it in a bipartisan way,
of course.
[248]
And that's how it's always been done.
[250]
The question is,
how will they get it done?
[252]
Of course, how Speaker Pelosi kept her
[254]
cards close to her chest and she said,
quote, we have several options.
[259]
And she's referring
to the reconciliation package.
[261]
She said, so we have reconciliation
infrastructure Cr and some place in there.
[267]
We'll do debt ceiling.
So this means folks
[270]
at House Speaker Pelosi is trying to get
as much support as she can
[274]
from the Democrats in Congress and in
the Senate, in the House and the Senate.
[279]
That is.
[280]
And now we'll have to wait and see
whether she can actually get it done.
[283]
Let me know what you think in the comment
[285]
section below about the hardball really,
this dismissive tone taken
[290]
from Speaker Pelosi towards Joe Mansion
and Kristen Cinema other factors.
[294]
They are not going to be able to pass
[296]
anything the Democrats without the support
of both Joe Mansion and Christian Cinema.
[302]
I want to know what you think.
[304]
The fact is, folks,
those two votes are absolutely necessary
[307]
because remember,
the Democrats need to get to 50 votes
[311]
in the Senate, and that includes the votes
of Joe Mansion and Kristin Cinema.
[316]
In addition
to progresses like Bernie Sanders
[319]
and the independent Senator Angus King,
his vote is absolutely crucial as well.
[323]
Without this, the Democrats
will never get to 50 votes.
[326]
And remember the tie breaking vote
in the event of a lock in the Senate,
[330]
which is highly likely is going to be cast
by Vice President Kamala Harris.
[334]
So the Democrats find themselves
in a rather tricky situation where
[338]
on the one hand House Speaker Pelosi can
reject mansions, call for a pause,
[343]
and she can, on the one hand,
show little willingness to scale back
[348]
to compromise on the $3.5
trillion infrastructure bill.
[351]
But the political reality
[353]
of this situation is it doesn't matter
what House Speaker Pelosi says.
[358]
What matters is whether there'll be enough
votes in the House,
[361]
which there will be because the Democrats
have a majority, even though it's a very
[365]
narrow majority, and they can't afford
to lose more than three House votes.
[368]
But in the Senate, remember,
a bill has to pass both the House
[372]
and the Senate, and then when it's
signed by the President, it becomes law.
[378]
If something cannot pass the Senate
[380]
because Joe Mansion and because
Christian Cinema are not voting for it,
[384]
we now have a situation where the entire
Democratic agenda is in trouble.
[390]
And I can tell you that that is indeed
[392]
the case right now, without the support
of Joe Mansion and Christian Cinema.
[397]
Now, House Speaker Pelosi can project
[399]
calm, can project defiance,
can project confidence.
[402]
But I promise you,
[404]
behind the scenes in Washington, DC,
there must be panic amongst the Democrats.
[408]
In fact, consider this an episode
of the DC Comedy Hour.
[412]
And yes, folks,
[413]
despite what House Speaker Pelosi says,
this is panic from the Democrats.
[418]
