Backyard Putting Green - YouTube

[1]
today for Supernatural graphs for doing
[3]
a cutting green a little bit different
[6]
from synthetic lawn you'd have to remove
[8]
all the grass and loose down to 80 mil
[11]
sometimes more on putting greens because
[13]
they're shaping a putting green to the
[17]
clients wishes and your shape it up
[19]
accordingly so what we do here is we put
[21]
down the crushrock synthetic cutting
[24]
greens the base should be a crusher dust
[28]
five millimeter - but we shape it out
[30]
very carefully we have to get it very
[32]
smooth with the undulations in it as
[35]
required then we put golf cups in late
[39]
of hunting tips and add a fringe so
[42]
we're going to shake this one out with a
[44]
little bit of undulation for the client
[46]
who pays off about 12 or 13 handicaps so
[48]
once make it nice and nice and tricky
[52]
for him once we lay down the cross rock
[55]
or the crusher dust and we get roughly
[57]
the shape that we're looking for we use
[60]
the vibrating plate that you can hire
[63]
from any higher shop so most places have
[67]
that across the dust we've explained you
[69]
get from the nursery so the quantity of
[71]
blade that compacted it watered it back
[73]
to down like we've done here roughly to
[76]
the shape I'm looking for we then use
[78]
just some washed sand from the nursery
[80]
you can buy it in bags and often you can
[83]
get it at Bunnings as well we in bags as
[85]
well we spread that out and and then we
[89]
use that to just get the final little
[91]
shapes that you need to make the grain
[93]
roll our next phase you put the cups in
[95]
now some would say we line up with the
[98]
cutting
[98]
first before we get it all smooth it's
[101]
just so you can get your levels of your
[102]
holes in the right spot but are we going
[104]
to dig these out now
[105]
about a shovel we'll show you that in a
[108]
second and then we'll put the cups in
[111]
concrete them in with a bit of rapidset
[113]
which you get from the hardware shop
[115]
caps you can buy from super natural
[117]
grass okay so this is the final result
[121]
before your labor laid the putting turf
[124]
and put the cups in move each cup pretty
[127]
quickly after you have laid them just
[129]
twist them around so they're a little
[131]
bit loose because once the concrete sets
[134]
can't lose them so it's important just
[136]
to give them a little twist and then you
[138]
can position them once you've laid the
[140]
turf alright so once we've laid out our
[143]
turf we've done our measurements and you
[145]
can use super natural grass to help you
[147]
with it
[149]
obviously we're allowing fringe to go
[152]
around this we need to cut the shape of
[154]
the green that you want and that's going
[157]
to be up to you so you really you get a
[159]
few ways to do it I don't you can use a
[162]
bit of rope or a hose and make your
[165]
shape out you can mark it with a bit of
[167]
chalk if you haven't done it before okay
[170]
so once we've shaped our green out we've
[171]
just put something anything on where the
[174]
holes are it's important not to tread
[176]
where the holes are while you're working
[178]
around the green let that concrete go
[180]
really hard so then we just get a knife
[182]
sharp blade again and you just find the
[187]
hole fill up there like that and it's
[190]
got to go around the inside and just cut
[192]
it out once you get a little caught up
[194]
grass like that and just fold it around
[197]
nice and slow you do not want to make a
[201]
mistake here and cut outside below into
[203]
the cut so just keep your knife firmly
[206]
on the inside of the cup
[209]
let's go around like that and there's
[215]
your cup and then you can lower it down
[216]
to the height you need we'll take them
[220]
out after and cover them and clean them
[223]
and that seems to do that for all the
[225]
holes you've got okay so after you cut
[229]
the shape of the greening and retract
[232]
the cups out get some sand on the
[234]
surface now these cutting greens here
[236]
need a little bit of sand and you're at
[239]
super neutral grass and that they'll
[241]
tell you how many you need but but you
[243]
know about every five square meters you
[246]
need one bag of sand so it's not a lot
[248]
and you need to get a broom and just
[251]
need to spread it out over the surface
[253]
and then dry very quickly and drop in so
[257]
after we've laid our sand out if you
[260]
choose to do that first then you're
[262]
ready to put the fringe around now the
[263]
friends is all depending on what type of
[265]
green you've got and what size screens
[267]
you've got so you've got the fringe
[270]
grass and once again use super natural
[272]
grass for a little advice you need on
[274]
how to the quantities that you need but
[278]
the important thing about putting fringe
[280]
on is that you can't change direction of
[283]
the grass so you're going to put a piece
[286]
along the one edge then the grass has to
[289]
go that way then the grass has to go
[292]
that way everywhere around the green
[293]
okay so once we laid out our pieces of
[296]
grass all going in the same direction
[297]
we've done one whole piece down here we
[301]
cut it in we've denied by folding the
[303]
grass over on the side and just trimming
[305]
around your edges on the outside like
[308]
we've done here so it fits nicely into
[310]
the brickwork or whatever edge you have
[312]
on the inside on the green side you make
[316]
sure it's overlapping everywhere so it's
[318]
over the green then you just go along do
[321]
a little slit do a little bit slip
[323]
further up you can go a couple of feet
[325]
if you want fold the grass back like so
[328]
and then just go along with a sharp
[331]
blade
[332]
and just trim it into the grain so I
[334]
often just hit me right on the edge of
[337]
the green and then push that the fringe
[340]
down to touches come back and then join
[343]
the dots just go along like that just
[346]
carefully and just cut it in the grass
[350]
comes back down and sits right there and
[352]
once you've done that you can do it as
[355]
you go or you can do it up you've done
[356]
it is your nail is off so you take your
[359]
nail give it right up on the end where
[362]
you started just inside about five
[366]
million from the end bang it in not too
[369]
hard give it a good tap and then that
[372]
looks like it's all connected in so you
[375]
go along about a hundred bit of pot once
[379]
you've trimmed it in bang them in and
[381]
then the French grass looks like it's
[383]
joined to the putting turf and that's
[385]
what gives you a nice a nice edge like a
[388]
real golfer one of the steps I like to
[391]
do is push you've hired a vibrating
[394]
plate to do the base is run the
[396]
vibrating plate make sure it's clean run
[399]
it over the finished grass what it does
[401]
is it squashes down any little
[403]
imperfections that might have come up
[404]
from you walking over cutting the cups
[407]
in kneeling on it with the fringe and it
[409]
just helps that final result to get it
[411]
nice and smooth and then after that
[414]
clean up brushing everything around with
[417]
a broom make sure all the sands
[418]
disappeared give it a wash and it's
[420]
finished then you give it a brush at the
[423]
end you can hire one of these from any
[427]
of the higher shops most of them having
[429]
them set definitely cannot if you don't
[433]
on smaller greens you can get away with
[436]
just a good hard broom but this machine
[439]
just finishes everything off stands all
[442]
the fibers up on your fringe and just
[444]
cleans all the excess sand off your
[446]
green so
[447]
it's important to do this okay so this
[451]
is the finished result of your cutting
[454]
green and any help you need
[457]
especially with padding Green's call
[461]
open wrinkle super natural grass for
[463]
assistance they're there to help and
[465]
especially with your measurements and
[467]
getting you the quantities right on your
[470]
material because it's very easy to waste
[473]
a lot of material on cutting rates I
[475]
just have to come shapes in and if
[477]
you've got unusual shapes this one being
[478]
a circle you've got to really take a
[481]
time on working out how much grass you
[483]
need to get so-called super natural
[485]
drastic there
