EL AL B787 - Flying World's Most Secured Airline - YouTube

Channel: Sam Chui

[0]
- Welcome back to another of my video.
[1]
This video is about flying EL AL Dreamliner.
[4]
No doubt, I think EL AL is one of the world's
[6]
most secured airline.
[8]
Let me share with you my experience with them.
[10]
At the airport, every passenger has to go
[13]
through a extra round of interview.
[14]
I was asked whether I packed my own bags,
[17]
whether I have any unattended items in my bag.
[19]
At the gates, you might go through additional round
[22]
of security check.
[23]
The whole process is pretty similar
[25]
to a US-bound international flight.
[27]
It was my first time flying EL AL
[29]
and it was certainly a very interesting experience.
[32]
I think the Dreamliner is EL AL's future.
[34]
I was the only non-Jewish passenger
[37]
on this flight, I think and I knew very,
[39]
very little about their culture ahead of the flight.
[42]
So let's check out my experience on EL AL.
[44]
- [Sam] Hello, hello. Wow.
[46]
- Welcome to our flight from Hong Kong to Tel Aviv.
[49]
- What a treat.
[50]
EL AL mints!
[51]
- Start the light.
[52]
- Starting the light.
[53]
(upbeat music)
[54]
(air traffic controller speaks)
[56]
(upbeat music)
[58]
- [Sam] All the food on board is kosher?
[60]
- All, everything is kosher.
[61]
(upbeat music)
[63]
- It's very unique.
[65]
Like, let's check the inside.
[67]
(upbeat music)
[70]
- Ellie, that was an inspiring story.
[72]
I think your story is so powerful.
[74]
- Land on runway number 1-2,
[75]
flying over Jaffa and Tel Aviv.
[78]
(air traffic controller speaks)
[83]
(upbeat music)
[85]
(engine roars)
[87]
- 100, 50 ,40.
[93]
- Today I am flying something new, EL AL 787 to Tel Aviv.
[98]
(upbeat music)
[122]
- Only we feel home with EL AL.
[124]
- [Sam] You only fly with EL AL?
[125]
- Only fly EL AL.
[126]
- [Sam] Wow.
[127]
- It's a prayer for the safety of the flight.
[129]
- [Sam] Oh, it's a prayer.
[130]
- Yes.
[131]
- [Sam] In Hebrew?
[132]
- In Hebrew. It's in Jewish.
[134]
- So I was quite surprised by myself actually.
[135]
I made a spontaneous decision to fly EL AL 787 Dreamliner
[140]
from Hong Kong to Tel Aviv.
[141]
Then from Tel Aviv,
[142]
I'm going to board the last EL AL 747 400 to Rome.
[146]
- I just wanted to ask you what actually EL AL means.
[149]
- It's, above the altitude.
[151]
- Above the altitude?
[152]
- Yeah.
[153]
- Oh, so it's a Hebrew word?
[155]
- Yeah.
[156]
- EL AL, above the altitude.
[157]
- It's also in the Bible.
[158]
- Oh, it's also in the Bible?
[159]
- Yeah.
[160]
- It took me years to figure out what EL AL means.
[162]
I thought it was a long,
[164]
you know, abbreviation of something very long.
[166]
- Welcome to our flight.
[168]
This is a EL AL flight number 076
[170]
from Hong Kong to Tel Aviv.
[173]
And flight time today will be 10 hours and 43 minutes.
[177]
And we'll be flying our new Dreamliner.
[181]
This one is with Retro Livery.
[184]
We're flying from Hong Kong and we'll be leaving north,
[190]
and then we'll take it to a westbound route,
[194]
and flying over the north part
[195]
of the Himalayan Mountains ridge and then into Kazakhstan,
[201]
to Turkey, back south from Turkey,
[204]
and over the Cyprus Island, and land at Tel Aviv,
[209]
which his located in the centre of Israel.
[211]
And we'll be flying around the level of 34,100 feet,
[218]
which is 10 kilometres and 400 metres.
[221]
And we'll be flying around 0.84 mach.
[225]
Well guys enjoy our flight with EL AL,
[228]
and I hope to see you soon in one of our flights.
[230]
(air traffic controller speaks)
[236]
(pilots speak)
[259]
(upbeat music)
[270]
(air traffic controller speaks)
[275]
(pilots speak)
[304]
(engine roars)
[330]
(upbeat music)
[344]
- Hello, Sam.
[345]
- [Sam] Hello
[346]
- Well, here you have the wine list for aperitif.
[349]
All of them are wine from Israel.
[352]
- [Sam] All the wine's from Israel?
[353]
- Wow! - Yes, all of them.
[354]
- [Sam] Let me try a sparkling wine now.
[356]
- Okay, great.
[356]
- [Sam] And then later,
[357]
I'll try dinner with the proper wine.
[360]
(upbeat music)
[372]
- Cheers.
[378]
I'll say it's not bad.
[379]
Very good actually.
[380]
- This is for you. It's the comfort kit.
[383]
- [Sam] Oh, this is the comfort kit, right?
[385]
- Yeah.
[385]
- [Sam] Wow.
[386]
- It's with the brand name of EL AL.
[388]
- [Sam] And the gold, gold EL AL, wow.
[390]
- EL AL, yeah.
[391]
- And it's very unique, like, let's check the inside.
[394]
(upbeat music)
[405]
- The EL AL 787 Business Class has very interesting seats.
[409]
Some of the seats face a little bit outwards,
[411]
some of the seats face a little bit inwards,
[413]
so the way to remember is even number, I'm sitting 16 alpha,
[417]
the last row 14, 12, those seats face the window,
[421]
and then the other ones, 15, 13, 11, they face outwards.
[425]
And then they've got a pair of seats in the middle.
[427]
The seats looks a bit small at the beginning,
[429]
but I can tell you it's actually very wide,
[431]
very good cushioning.
[433]
Look at this.
[433]
This one, you can lower it,
[435]
so now look at how much space you've got.
[437]
You've got plenty of space.
[439]
(upbeat music)
[448]
- Sam.
[449]
- [Sam] Yeah?
[449]
- We have here the menu
[450]
- [Sam] Yeah.
[451]
- And we (mumbles) this menu only for EL AL.
[452]
Only food specially prepared for EL AL.
[455]
- [Sam] Uh huh.
[456]
- Our (mumbles) come with the kosher permission.
[460]
- [Sam] Kosher food?
[461]
- Yeah, only the kosher food in our company.
[465]
It's different (mumbles)
[467]
- [Sam] All the food on board is kosher?
[469]
- Everything is kosher (mumbles).
[474]
- [Sam] Okay. Thank you very much.
[475]
- There you go.
[476]
- [Sam] Thank you.
[478]
(upbeat music)
[503]
- Sam, we're starting dinner now in Premium Class.
[507]
Actually, Premium Class food is the same
[509]
like the Business Class, and it's really high quality.
[513]
This is the dish with the salmon.
[517]
- [Sam] The Premium Economy passengers get the same food
[519]
as Business Class?
[520]
- Yes.
[521]
- Oh, that's good, that's an upgrade!
[522]
- Hi everyone!
[523]
My name is Ellie.
[525]
I'm a Flight Attendant in Economy Class.
[528]
So tonight we have a dinner,
[531]
we have salad, mayonnaise salad,
[534]
fruit, water, and of course we have for the dinner,
[538]
chicken with potato, and a second choice,
[542]
we have beef with rice.
[545]
And for the top, we have a good wine from Israel.
[549]
It's Cabernet Sauvignon.
[551]
I was married when I was 19 years old.
[555]
I had my children at 21.
[558]
I was an Accountant, all the time numbers, numbers, numbers.
[564]
I wanted to travel the world, to see people, meet people,
[567]
I determined to become attendant flight.
[571]
And you know what, I even now have more time in my day
[574]
or with my children.
[577]
I'm taking them with me also to the flight when I have time.
[580]
It's amazing, amazing job and I really love it,
[583]
really love it.
[584]
- Ellie, that was an inspiring story.
[586]
I think your story is so powerful,
[588]
that's why I want to record you.
[590]
And, it sends out a message directly to a lot of mothers
[593]
out there who have kids,
[594]
but still, you were able to determine
[596]
to enjoy doing something you truly want.
[599]
And that is great in life.
[601]
- This uniform is different.
[602]
She's wearing like, a flight attendant dress, and your one,
[605]
this is like a tee shirt!
[606]
- It is a tee shirt,
[608]
but of course I'm wearing the vest on it.
[610]
And we can choose in EL AL.
[612]
We have four different uniforms and we can choose
[616]
in every flight what's more comfortable for us,
[619]
and what we think looks better on us.
[621]
- [Sam] But your one is the most comfortable one.
[622]
- Yes it is (laughs)
[623]
- [Sam] Yes, the tee shirt's the best.
[624]
(upbeat music)
[634]
- [Sam] So because I was filming
[636]
in Economy and Premium Economy,
[637]
and I only just finished my dinner way behind everybody,
[642]
it's already really dark right now.
[644]
Dinner was very good, actually.
[646]
I love the one meal tray, you have a lot of salad, meat,
[650]
and then also main course together.
[652]
To my surprise, it's contrary to I see a lot of reports,
[655]
my flight EL AL has very good food.
[657]
Catering was out of Hong Kong.
[659]
(upbeat music)
[669]
- I had about six hours sleep.
[671]
I slept so well.
[673]
Right now, it's about almost 2AM in Hong Kong time.
[677]
We're about two hours to land in Tel Aviv.
[681]
- [Sam] Good Morning
[682]
- Ready to eat breakfast?
[683]
- [Sam] Yeah, do you have the menu?
[684]
- Yeah, the menu have two options.
[686]
(upbeat music)
[693]
- [Sam] I'm almost at the end of my flight.
[695]
This was a really long flight, 11 hours.
[697]
We had to fly up north, to China, and over then Kazakhstan,
[702]
and over Turkey, then come down to Tel Aviv.
[705]
I have to tell you I was pleasantly surprised by EL AL,
[710]
and how pleasant the flight was.
[713]
The seats are very comfortable.
[714]
It felt like a United Polaris
[715]
at the beginning when you see it,
[717]
but actually, it is a lot wider.
[719]
So when I was going down to sleep,
[722]
I was able to sleep very well for about six hours sleep.
[725]
(upbeat music)
[727]
- Okay, we've started our descent towards Tel Aviv.
[730]
We're expecting to land on runway number 1-2,
[734]
which is directly from the sea,
[738]
and flying over Jaffa and Tel Aviv.
[742]
It's a short taxi after landing to the right,
[746]
over to the terminal, the position delta eight.
[750]
- [Sam] Where's delta eight?
[750]
- Over here. I believe it's over here,
[751]
you can see it right here.
[752]
It's a large terminal
[754]
- [Sam] It's like four, okay
[755]
- It's the international terminal in Ben Gurion Airport.
[759]
(air traffic controller speaks)
[765]
(upbeat music)
[775]
- 100, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10
[787]
(pilots speak in foreign language)
[814]
(upbeat music)
[826]
- Welcome to Tel Aviv.
[827]
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did,
[829]
and see you on our next flight.
[831]
Thank you. Bye
[832]
- Thank you. Bye bye.
[835]
- [All] Bye
