Hey Everyone! In this video I'm gonna to show you how i made this American flag pattern cake
[5]
and it may seem difficult but
[8]
I'll show you every step
[10]
along the way on how to make it.
[13]
So, first thing you'll want to do is roll out thin sheets of clay and cut out even circles
[18]
in red white and blue
[20]
so you'll need seven red
[22]
six white
[23]
and seven blue.
[27]
once you have all of that finished
[32]
start by taking a red one
[35]
make sure it's flat
[37]
and
[39]
start stacking
[40]
the colors on top one another
[43]
so the next one will be white
[47]
try to get it centered
[51]
and then press out any air bubbles
[56]
then put another red on top
[60]
and again make sure it's centered, squeeze out the air bubbles
[66]
add another white
[79]
another red
[88]
one more white
[96]
so you'll have something like that.
[101]
Now, with all of the blue circles
[103]
use a smaller cutter
[106]
to removed the center
[110]
and I don't know if you can tell but i kind of marked an X on each of the
[114]
blue circle so i can find the center easier
[136]
now that that's finished
[138]
start stacking all the blues on top of one another
[143]
so you should use all of them at once so uh... all seven of them
[148]
and make sure they're
[150]
as even as you can get them
[155]
you might have to move them around a little bit
[192]
Ok, once you're finished and
[195]
you think all the air bubbles have been
[198]
pretty much
[199]
removed
[202]
take a really thin cutting tool
[206]
and slice the blue
[210]
shape in half like that.
[219]
Now with the remaining red and white circles
[223]
use the same
[225]
sized cutting tool that you used for the blue
[229]
and cut out
[231]
small circles
[239]
I think there will be
[241]
four red and three white?
[244]
if my math is correct hahaha
[267]
and make sure you clean all your cutting tools
[270]
before you switch colored cuz
[272]
you could
[274]
stain the other colors
[289]
Ok. Now, starting with the red
[292]
start stacking them
[296]
just like you did before
[351]
Ok now take
[352]
the
[354]
blue half circles and
[357]
try to smooth out the
[359]
inside as much and you can
[370]
and put the smaller circle
[373]
in the middle
[375]
and connect the blue together again
[382]
it doesn't have to be perfect because we're going to be texturing
[385]
the cake and you wont really see the
[388]
uh... seams
[391]
then after that
[396]
you'll wanna put
[397]
the blue section on the top of the white
[401]
bottom section
[407]
and then smooth out the edges as much as you can
[432]
Now for frosting,
[433]
i rolled out a sheet of white clay really thin
[438]
and then
[440]
I spent
[441]
a bit of time
[445]
stretching it out
[447]
and pressing it down until
[449]
it completely covered the cake
[457]
it pieces tear off or
[460]
there's like a hole or
[462]
something stretched too much
[464]
don't worry, you can always add another piece on top
[468]
you should get something like that when you're finished
[471]
now put it in a refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes. That'll help
[476]
keep the colors from blending when you slice the cake
[482]
make sure you have a really thin knife
[492]
and for my favorite part
[495]
Tah-Dah!!!
[504]
I wanted to make it a
[506]
necklace two earrings so I'm cutting two slices
[523]
Yay!!
[528]
Now, use a needle tool or toothpick or
[532]
the tip of a blade..anything
[535]
to add texture to the cake
[538]
and if you'd like to add stars,
[540]
you could
[542]
add little pieces of white
[544]
as you texture
[551]
so as you're going alone you can press a little piece of white and then
[555]
texture like you
[557]
do everything else
[560]
of course make them smaller heehee
[566]
but i didn't really want to add that so I'm gonna remove mine
[571]
It's just a suggestion
[573]
so ya
[574]
after you finish texturing
[576]
you could add eyepins if you want it to be
[578]
used for jewelry
[581]
and that's about it
