recall this time for 947 vehicles in the

u.s per usual with a lot of tesla

recalls this one is a small issue that

will be fixed with an over-the-air

software update the issue here is with

2017 through 2020 model 3 vehicles

equipped with autopilot 2.5 hardware the

rear view image may not immediately
[38]
display when you begin to reverse which

is a safety issue and could increase the
[41]
risk of a crash as far as the fix is
[44]
concerned most owners won't need to even
[46]
think about it since the update will
[47]
come automatically but the filing says

quote tesla will perform an over-the-air

software update free of charge owner

notification letters are expected to be
[55]
mailed may 17 2022 owners may contact

those notices are actually coming a

fsd ambitions tesla's head of ai has

just started a sabbatical his sabbatical

comes right as tesla is expanding their

fsd beta testing in canada so it worries

twitter when talking about the fsd beta

fsd by the way at carpathi is on an

around four-month sabbatical in a repost

to this tweet carpathi himself said

travel after almost five years at tesla

some neural nets though i already miss

returning and actually left for apple

and later ford this worries some tesla

investors fans and enthusiasts alike as

karpathy has been an integral part of

the fsd program but it doesn't have the

look of him actually leaving tesla it

doesn't help out with elon's latest

timelines of achieving fsd safer than a

human by the end of this year again but

i wouldn't be surprised if we don't see

much of an impact there speaking of fsd

and the fsd package tesla sells that

package now goes for 12 000. for a short

period of time if you were ordering a

tesla online the way to get your tesla

the quickest was actually to add this

expensive package i reported on this a

few times and you could directly see
[190]
your delivery date jump months ahead if

you added this fsd package to your order

this was tesla incentivizing customers
[197]
and prioritizing their highest margin

orders however shortly after tesla made
[201]
this change they reversed it now if you

configure a tesla on their website and
[205]
add the 12 000 fsd package that delivery
[208]
date stays the same overall the original
[210]
move took a lot of criticism from
[211]
customers because we've seen more and
[213]
more delivery dates getting pushed back

this made many wonder if the fsd change
[217]
was the cause since customers with extra
[219]
money could simply add this package and
[220]
get their car before someone who ordered
[222]
a few months ago i'm personally glad to
[224]
see them reverse this especially since
[226]
the fsd package is such a specific
[228]
add-on which at its current price only
[230]
truly is appealing to those wanting to
[231]
invest in tesla's achievement of full
[233]
autonomy whenever that may come next up

today tesla has had to shut down what is
[238]
now their most productive factory for
[239]
around four days due to a surge of cases
[242]
in shanghai u.s automaker tesla is
[244]
suspending production at its shanghai
[246]
factory for four days after the
[248]
financial hub said on sunday it would
[251]
lock down in two stages to carry out
[253]
mass testing as noted by electric at the
[255]
end of each quarter this is where tesla
[257]
specifically produces cars for local
[259]
deliveries so while four days isn't a
[261]
long time it could result in thousands
[262]
of delayed deliveries in china it's just
[265]
another in a long string of setbacks
[266]
that tesla has continuously navigated in
[268]
recent months over at gigatexas we've
[271]
seen model y production pumping quicker
[273]
and quicker tesla has already produced a
[275]
significant amount of blue and black
[276]
model wise as well as a few white ones

and drone shots have shown them all

parked outside the most recent addition

to these model wise comes with the first
[284]
red model y spotted at gigatexas drone

photos show this model y exiting the
[288]
factory and it marks what appears to be
[290]
the first model y built in red there the
[292]
last remaining color from what we can
[294]
tell is the midnight silver metallic
[296]
and these could be some of the last
[297]
steps in trial production for tesla as
[300]
they begin production soon most recently
[302]
in january of 2022 tesla said that they
[304]
are aiming for first model-wide
[306]
deliveries out of gigatexas by the end
[308]
of this quarter this quarter ends very
[310]
quickly here so they may miss that
[311]
deadline and instead be looking for
[313]
first deliveries out of that factory
[314]
coming around the time of the gigatexas
[316]
festival which they are now officially
[318]
calling the cyber rodeo tesla has now
[320]
sent out official invitations for the
[322]
cyber rodeo event which is happening at
[324]
one tesla road in austin texas on april
[327]
7th it should be very similar to the
[329]
giga berlin fest the cyber part of the
[331]
title could simply relate to the general
[333]
design of the party but it is very
[334]
likely as well that the latest cyber
[336]
truck prototype which we've seen at giga
[338]
texas will be there the focus of

gigatexas for now is on model y

production i'm likely starting

production there with a lower range 279

mile 4680 battery version of that car

details still aren't confirmed there but

the model y is clearly the focus with

the cyber truck coming out of that

factory down the line it's unclear

exactly who tesla is inviting to this

event but i definitely love to go along

with many others it should be a chance

for people to see the work that tesla

has put in at that factory along with a

peek at new technologies coming to the

model y and possibly the cyber truck

another thing that we're seeing tesla

implement over at giga texas is a large

mega pack project tesla's mega pack is a

large battery storage system that helps

to stabilize the grid and provide
[378]
reliable power wherever it is installed

in this particular case it should go

along with tesla's planned giant solar
[384]
system in gigatexas and help to smooth
[386]
out the notoriously unreliable grid
[388]
where the factory is located solar
[390]
installation is already underway at that
[392]
factory and drone shots have shown that

it may be spelling out tesla from the
[396]
sky a new filing from the city of austin

shows the tesla applied for quote

gigatexas lcra permanent switch yard and

bess best stands for battery energy

storage system there aren't specifics

listed yet about capacity but reportedly

the building area covers around 53 acres

in january of this year tesla unveiled

their mega pack project in texas that

would help with residential energy

storage it's incredibly large but this

new project is expected to be even

larger it should be focused on tesla's

some new details on how long he believes

ev batteries will last this is a big

concern among people buying vehicles and

a very common misconception with many

thinking they need to be replaced every

two to five years or something like that

there may even be comments on this exact

video claiming that this is the case and

that's why people don't want to buy an

ev it is not the case and jb strouble

interview saying quote it's a subjective

thing depending on what people's goal is

for the car but i think it's going to

easily be 15 years in most cases i think

battery life will probably track the

life of the vehicle life personally i

think it's less likely that people will

place a new battery in an old car his

opinion or point of view is considered

trustworthy because he is at the

forefront of ev batteries and now has a

company focused on battery recycling

tracking the end of life for ev

batteries is critical to his company

redwood materials because that is the

point that they will use them to recycle

and further reuse them in future

electric vehicles what many forget about

ev batteries is that once the battery

can no longer be used in the vehicle it

is still incredibly valuable due to the

raw materials inside according to jb

gigafactories worldwide with partners in

the next few years they didn't detail

where the new factories will be located

but noted that they have signed

agreements with leading battery

producers including catl northvolt and
[879]
samsung sdi bmw actually has a number of

evs available for sale and has ambitious
[884]
plans for new evs coming in the next
[886]
couple of years so it's great to see
[887]
them looking forward and securing a
[889]
battery supply of course this is all a
[891]
long ways off with just the initial
[892]
plans for massive gigafactories but we
[894]
should get more details on it in the
[896]
next few years that's all the latest
