[3]
the US. We are going to discuss what are the most common reasons
[6]
why these visas get rejected, and also how you can avoid them.
[10]
Keep on watching.
[16]
Hi guys, my name is Shachi, I'm a traveling Visa Coach and on
[19]
this channel, you will find tons of useful videos on the US visa
[22]
process. Right from filling the form to clearing the interview,
[26]
make sure that you check it out. This video we are going to talk
[29]
about the rejection reasons for f1 visa interviews, I think
[34]
there cannot be a worse feeling than getting into the College of
[36]
your dreams, doing all the hard work, you're putting in all the
[40]
effort and the time and then not being able to go because your
[44]
visa got rejected. I'm here to tell you that this is something
[47]
which you can totally avoid with little bit of planning, and
[51]
loads of preparation and practice. So we already have one
[54]
more video on the channel and this video is about the commonly
[57]
asked questions in f1 visa interview and how to answer
[60]
them, make sure that you check out that video as well and as a
[64]
part of this video, we have a free document checklist. So this
[68]
is a PDF, which will tell you all the documents that you need
[70]
to prepare for your f1 interview. This is because one
[74]
of the common reasons why these visas get rejected is not having
[78]
the documents in order. So make sure that you click on the link
[81]
in the description box below and get your free PDF. So with all
[85]
of this said, let's get started. So when you go to the interview,
[88]
the visa officer will assume that you are a potential
[91]
immigrant and your job throughout the interview is to
[94]
prove that you are not. So when your visa gets refused under
[98]
Section 221g, this means that the visa officer thinks that you
[102]
are at a risk of immigration, that you will go to the US you
[106]
will complete your studies and then you will end up settling
[109]
there and not come back, it's very important to understand
[112]
what are the reasons which lead to 221g rejection and how to
[115]
avoid them and we will discuss that right here. The first
[118]
reason for rejection is a low ranking college. Now, it is not
[122]
enough to just get admission in any college in the US or in any
[127]
university, it also has to be worth the effort and the time
[131]
that you're going to spend to come all the way to the US and
[134]
also to spend all the money. So if you are applying to a really
[138]
low ranked college or to a community college, then it's
[141]
going to raise a doubt in the views officers mind and he is
[144]
going to ask you that what is the point of studying and so and
[147]
so college, why not find a better college somewhere else,
[151]
or why not study in your home country itself. So make sure
[155]
that you are extremely sure of the college that you're applying
[158]
to do not just apply to any college and you know, put it in
[162]
your application. Whatever college that you're applying to,
[165]
it has to fit into your profile with your background with your
[169]
long term plans and more importantly, you should be able
[172]
to justify why you want to study that in the visa interview. The
[175]
second reason for rejection as the course not being in line
[179]
with your background. So first, we spoke about the college. Next
[183]
comes the course. So the course that you're planning to apply to
[186]
the course that you want to study has to be in line with the
[189]
background that you come from and your future plans. So let's
[193]
say that you have been an engineer for the last 15 years
[196]
and now suddenly, you want to do a course in fashion design. Now,
[200]
I'm not saying that this is not possible or that you shouldn't
[203]
do it, please go ahead by all means and do it if that's your
[206]
interest, but again, you should be able to justify why this
[210]
switch in the visa interview and also you should have sufficient
[213]
proof to show that you have genuine interest in fashion
[216]
designing, and you have been doing other things to you know,
[220]
pursue your career or to pursue your interest in this particular
[223]
field. So in the end, the takeaway from this is that the
[226]
course that you're applying to should again fit into your
[229]
profile, it should tie very well the background that you have and
[233]
the future plans that you have the third reason for rejection
[235]
and he is a better course available in the home country.
[239]
Now keep in mind that the visa officer will be extremely well
[242]
aware of the education system and the courses and the colleges
[247]
in your home country be in India or whichever else. So if you
[251]
want to apply for a course, which is better in your home
[254]
country, the better options available in your home country
[257]
compared to the US then he's going to ask you that by are you
[260]
doing this by not study this course and so and so college,
[263]
what is the point of going all the way to the US and spending
[266]
all this money? An example for this could be say of course in
[269]
English speaking. Now, if you think about it, it does not make
[273]
any sense for somebody to go from India, to US to study
[277]
English or take a course on English speaking are many such
[280]
options available back home in India. So you need to again,
[284]
keep in mind the course that you're applying to and whether
[287]
it actually makes sense to go to the US to study this course the
[291]
fourth reason for rejection and is your future plans. So during
[295]
the interview, you will be asked what are your future plans? What
[298]
are your long term plans If you show any indication that your
[302]
future plan is to take up a long term job in the US and to settle
[307]
there and do not come back, then your visa will be rejected your
[312]
long term plans and your future plans need to be tied back to
[315]
your home country, you are going there just as a student to study
[320]
and nothing else another reason why f1 visas get rejected is
[323]
when they go in administrative processing. Now administrative
[327]
processing essentially means that the visa officer is not
[330]
fully convinced about your profile and he wants some more
[333]
information to make the decision. It could be
[335]
information about your background, it could be some
[337]
more documents, and so on and in my opinion, it is best to avoid
[341]
getting into administrative processing, because you have no
[344]
control on the amount of time that it is going to take. It can
[347]
take days, months, sometimes even a year. So there are two
[352]
main reasons why f1 visas go into administrative processing.
[356]
The first one is funding. Now how you fund your education is
[360]
an extremely important aspect of f1 visa interviews and this is
[364]
something that you can expect to be asked. So you need to know
[368]
what is the total expense of the scores, what is the breakup, and
[373]
how exactly you're going to fund it. Now, during the interview,
[376]
if he finds that your funding is not in place, or you do not have
[381]
the relevant documents to support the funding that you
[384]
have shown in your form, then the visa can go into
[387]
administrative processing. And the visa officer can tell you
[390]
that okay, you submit all these additional documents, and then
[392]
we'll take a decision. The second reason is missing
[395]
transcript degrees and other generic documents. So you are
[398]
expected to carry all your transcripts, all your degree
[401]
certificates. Even if it is provisional to you, it is not
[404]
generally asked in the f1 interviews, but sometimes the
[407]
visa officer can pull up and ask for these documents and again,
[411]
if you do not have them in place, if you do not have proof
[414]
for the degree that you have shown in your profile, he can
[417]
ask you to submit this and you know, check back later.
[420]
Basically, it is best to be thoroughly prepared with all the
[422]
documents that you might need during the visa interview and
[426]
just to help you out in this, we have prepared a document
[430]
checklist. This is a free pdf download, it is there in the
[433]
description box below. So do click on that link and get your
[437]
PDF. So now that we have discussed all possible reasons
[439]
for rejection, I want to share some insider tips with you and
[443]
these are essentially from my experience of helping students
[447]
clear the f1 visa interview. The first one is that you need to be
[452]
extremely well prepared, and you need tons of practice. So you
[457]
need to be very well prepared for the answers that you're
[459]
going to give a lot of research, a lot of thinking and a lot of
[463]
time has to go into preparing these answers and more
[466]
importantly, you need to practice these answers. Don't
[469]
just keep it in your mind and think that it can come to you on
[472]
the day of the interview. Practice it by writing it by
[476]
saying it in front of a mirror or in front of somebody else. If
[481]
you are interested, you can take a mock interview with me this
[483]
will be done on a video call and this will be a one to one
[486]
interview where you know you will go through the drill and
[490]
you will get the feel of an actual visa interview. The link
[493]
for this is in the description box below. Do check it out and
[496]
the second tip I have for you is that you need to be extremely
[500]
honest, I cannot tell you how many times people have lost out
[504]
on visa interviews, because of not being honest, or because of
[509]
trying to say something that was not true. Visa officers are
[512]
extremely well trained to catch lies to you know judge a
[517]
person's personality. This is something that they go extensive
[520]
training in. So do not even think of flubbing of lying or of
[525]
saying something that you haven't done or you know of
[529]
putting something in your resume which is not true. completely
[532]
avoid all this be hundred percent honest. Whatever it is,
[536]
whatever are your intentions, whatever is the reason that
[539]
you've selected the college. Be honest and be confident in
[542]
saying that out. So these were all the reasons why f1 visas get
[546]
rejected. I hope this has given you a fair idea about it. Thank
[549]
you so much for watching. If you have any more questions, feel
