[3]
-Hi, and welcome to my story with CareCredit.
[6]
We all have stories,
[8]
but what makes these stories unique is that they are about people
[12]
who are able to get life-changing treatment, procedures,
[15]
or medical care for themselves, their family, and their pets.
[20]
All of the people featured on my story with CareCredit did it
[23]
with their CareCredit credit card.
[26]
CareCredit is a leading national health care credit card
[29]
that can enable you to get many of the procedures,
[32]
and treatments you want now and pay over time.
[35]
With everyday promotional financing on purchases of $200 or more.
[40]
CareCredit is accepted at hundreds of thousands of locations nationwide.
[44]
To pay for care whenever you need and want it.
[48]
I'm your host Amy Frena.
[50]
Today, we are going to hear a story from a young woman
[53]
who lost her front tooth right before she was supposed to go
[57]
on the vacation of a lifetime with her boyfriend's family.
[61]
Let's find out how this story had a happy ending.
[64]
-Hi, my name is Elizabeth and CareCredit helped me overcome my biggest fear.
[69]
My biggest fear has always been losing my teeth.
[73]
I've always had really bad luck since I was little with my teeth,
[76]
unfortunately.
[77]
I've just always had really poor low calcium.
[80]
One of the biggest ones was losing my front teeth.
[83]
It's a week before I leave on this trip to Barcelona with my boyfriend
[88]
and his family for the first time.
[90]
I was talking to my coworker about all the food and drinks
[95]
that I'm going to try while I'm there.
[97]
I made this gesture of "mmh."
[100]
Next thing you know my front tooth just folds and it just goes "poop."
[106]
I'm thinking "Oh, my God.
[110]
It's actually happened.
[112]
I'm losing my teeth."
[114]
I have no idea what I am supposed to do or if I can even leave now
[118]
because I have a front tooth missing.
[120]
How am I going to travel like that and go abroad and take family photos
[125]
with my front tooth missing?
[127]
Who does that?
[128]
My next big fear was how am I even going to afford this?
[131]
I just saved so much money to go on this big trip
[134]
and now I have this big financial burden.
[137]
It was very expensive to do the work.
[139]
I freaked out, I called my dentist, and thankfully,
[142]
that very same day I was able to set up my CareCredit credit card.
[147]
CareCredit was there to save the day.
[150]
I was able to go on my trip,
[151]
have no worries and now I have a beautiful smile.
[155]
Thank you CareCredit for saving the day.
[159]
-Hey, I'm Amy, and today we have a special guest.
[162]
Elizabeth who is going to tell us about her CareCredit story.
[166]
[laughter]
[167]
-How are you today?
[168]
-I'm doing great.
[168]
How are you?
[169]
-I'm good.
[169]
Thank you so much.
[170]
Tell us about how did your journey with CareCredit start?
[175]
-Well, it all started when I lost my front tooth.
[180]
-Your front tooth?
[181]
I see all your teeth right now.
[182]
That's good [laughs].
[184]
-It was about a week before I was supposed I went on a family trip
[189]
with my boyfriend and his family to Barcelona.
[192]
-Not even your own family?
[194]
-No, yes.
[194]
It was the first time.
[195]
-No pressure.
[196]
-Yes.
[196]
[laughter]
[197]
-First time traveling with his family and him abroad.
[201]
The Monday before we leave, my front tooth out of nowhere just pops off.
[208]
I've always had dental issues since I was little.
[211]
I knew it was something that I would want to get done.
[216]
I was waiting a few years to save money to do it.
[219]
Because it is pretty expensive and insurances don't cover everything.
[224]
Unfortunately, it just had to be done when it happened.
[229]
I'm sitting at work talking about this amazing trip to Barcelona.
[235]
I don't know where I make this gesture because I'm so excited
[238]
about all the Sangria and the food we are going to try.
[241]
-Of course, I would do that too.
[242]
-I go like this, like I'm so excited.
[245]
I don't know why I just feel my front tooth just fold out and I think,
[250]
"Oh, my God.
[251]
This can't be happening."
[253]
A week before I leave for Barcelona with my boyfriend and his family.
[257]
Just one of the biggest fears I've ever had.
[261]
-Was this the first time you had met his family?
[263]
-No, but it was our first time traveling and traveling abroad.
[267]
You know family portraits and photos are going to be taken the entire trip.
[271]
How am I suppose to travel with missing teeth?
[275]
-Did you cry?
[276]
-No.
[277]
-I would have.
[278]
[laughter]
[280]
-I was okay.
[281]
I knew that my dentist would take care of me,
[285]
but the other bigger fear was taking care of this cost.
[290]
It's expensive, and here I was spending enough money already
[294]
on this trip to Barcelona.
[296]
Who has the money to get their teeth done?
[299]
In a pinch, CareCredit came through.
[304]
It really helped me put all of my stress and any worries aside
[309]
and I was able to enjoy the trip.
[311]
-You had your sangria and your food?
[314]
[laughter]
[314]
-Yes.
[315]
-Yes, exactly, and a great new set of teeth.
[317]
-Right.
[317]
Okay, let's back up a little bit.
[320]
You go to the doctor, or to your dentist and you say,
[323]
"This happened to me I'm so obviously, rather distraught.
[327]
I need this fixed now, not in a couple of weeks.
[330]
Right now."
[331]
I'm sure they offered you, "Well, here are some payment options."
[335]
How did you choose CareCredit over the other options?
[338]
-It was the first option.
[339]
It's the first one.
[341]
I said, "Let's go.
[342]
I've heard of this before."
[344]
The CareCredit company wasn't foreign to me.
[350]
I had seen it before and whatnot.
[352]
I thought, "Well, yes.
[354]
Let's do it.
[355]
I have to."
[356]
It was really simple to get it all set up and get approved.
[362]
Which made it very convenient as well.
[364]
-Right of course.
[365]
You could not worry about it and go on your trip.
[368]
-Yes, exactly.
[369]
It was very frightening and stressful at first,
[374]
but I knew I'd be taken care of and I was.
[378]
-You said earlier that you were waiting a couple of years to do a full procedure.
[384]
You ended up doing the full procedure right then rather than waiting?
[387]
-Exactly, yes.
[388]
-What a blessing that offered to you?
[390]
-Yes, it was definitely a blessing in disguise.
[393]
It was a matter of I either take care of one tooth or I do all my front teeth.
[400]
-The whole kit and caboodle [laughs].
[401]
-Exactly.
[402]
It was something that my dentist and I had discussed before
[405]
and I think she was more stressed out than I was.
[407]
I was like, "Okay,
[408]
you know it's time, we are going to do it.
[410]
This has to happen now."
[412]
My only stress at the time was being able to afford everything
[415]
because it was so expensive.
[416]
-Of course, I have done dental work I know.
[418]
When you are on this trip with your boyfriend's family.
[423]
Your confidence obviously is radiating because now not only was one thing fixed,
[428]
but everything's fixed and you are feeling so good about yourself?
[430]
-Exactly.
[431]
I was able to travel.
[433]
It was an amazing trip and worry-free.
[437]
Able to go on the trip, enjoy all the food and sites.
[440]
-All the family photos.
[441]
-Exactly.
[442]
-You had said earlier that before you got the CareCredit credit card
[445]
that you had heard about it.
[447]
How did you hear about it?
[448]
-I had heard about it before from previous dental work
[452]
that I had gotten done.
[453]
I had had crowns and veneers before done.
[457]
I wasn't satisfied with my work prior so I knew it was something
[462]
that I would have to get done again.
[464]
-Have you used your CareCredit card for anything else?
[466]
-Oh, yes.
[467]
-Tell us more.
[468]
-I absolutely have.
[469]
About six months later,
[471]
after I go through this teeth falling out incident.
[476]
I visit my optometrist and I had had issues with my vision.
[481]
My eyes being very dry, and I had a build-up on my oil glands.
[487]
When I was blinking, my eyes weren't getting moisturized basically.
[493]
There was this treatment that my optometrist recommended called a lipiFlow treatment.
[498]
It's not covered by insurances.
[500]
I prepared for it, come the new year,
[505]
I had set aside money through my employer with my FSA health card.
[509]
I have the treatment done, I go to pay for it,
[513]
and they tell me that my FSA health card is denied.
[517]
Now I know that's not possible because I have saved the money.
[521]
It was all available to me upfront,
[524]
and so I call this company that is the FSA Card, healthcare company.
[529]
They tell me that the reason my card wasn't working
[533]
was because they had closed out that card and sent me a new one in the mail.
[538]
-Well, that's timely.
[539]
-Yes.
[541]
Exactly.
[542]
Here I am at my optometrist trying to pay for this procedure.
[545]
Again, that's not covered by insurance and it's easily over $1,000,
[550]
but luckily I had my CareCredit credit card on hand.
[553]
-You said, "No problem.
[554]
I got this."
[555]
-Exactly.
[556]
-Good.
[556]
Oh, that's wonderful.
[557]
You've had a lot of last-minute little things that have happened that ended up
[561]
working out in your favor.
[563]
-Yes, and CareCredit was there in a pinch to help.
[565]
-I love that.
[566]
If there is anyone out there that's listening or watching that's maybe debating
[569]
how to finance some big procedure.
[573]
What advice do you have for them?
[574]
-I would say,
[576]
really plan out what it is that you are planning on getting done.
[581]
Maybe plan it a year ahead and get the CareCredit credit card.
[585]
-Tell me about your level of satisfaction with the CareCredit credit card.
[588]
-Oh, it's great.
[590]
It's been really easy with the two procedures that I had.
[594]
Coming through and being able to use it both times.
[598]
-In a pinch.
[599]
-In a pinch yes.
[600]
It's so difficult sometimes, especially when, again,
[603]
health providers, insurances don't cover everything
[606]
that you're able to, or at least that I'm able to rely on my CareCredit credit card.
[611]
I intend to potentially use it if I decide to get LASIK in a year or two.
[618]
-That's on your radar.
[619]
-Yes.
[620]
Again, I'll probably plan that out and see what that will look like
[624]
in the big picture, how much that might cost.
[627]
-If you were to leave a review for CareCredit online,
[630]
what would it be?
[631]
What would you say?
[632]
-I would say thank you for coming through in a pinch.
[639]
They've made it really easy for these two procedures that I had,
[644]
which really helps when you're trying to balance life,
[649]
finances and also take care of emergencies like this.
[653]
I would say definitely consider applying and having one.
[658]
-Elizabeth well thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
[661]
I know you've inspired me and others at home.
[663]
Thank you for your time.
[664]
-Thank you so much for having me.
[666]
-Elizabeth's smile and photos from the trip are beautiful
[669]
and CareCredit was proud to be a part of it.
