How to Trade PART TIME while Working a Full Time Job- Grow your Small Trading Account in 2022 - YouTube
Channel: Humbled Trader
[0]
whatever you do please do not quit your
[2]
job to go day trade right away keep your
[6]
job and grow your small trading account
[8]
slowly by following these three
[11]
important criterias so you and I must
[15]
have had very similar situations I
[17]
didn't come from a rich family I didn't
[19]
inherit a trust fund and that's been
[21]
real if I did I wouldn't need to trade
[24]
so in this video I'm going to be talking
[26]
about the three important factors of how
[29]
I trade a part-time while working a
[31]
full-time job not only am I going to
[33]
talk about the specific strategies I
[35]
used personally myself but more
[38]
importantly how to manage your time and
[41]
prepare yourself financially and
[43]
properly allocate enough time and effort
[46]
into building your small accounts
[48]
trading part-time as always these videos
[51]
take me a long time to make that's the
[54]
time I could have spent cruising around
[56]
in my Lambo so if you don't mind please
[58]
remember to drop a like on the video I'd
[61]
really appreciate you my friends so the
[64]
first important factor we're going to
[65]
talk about is time when is the most
[68]
optimal market hour to trade part time
[70]
and of course the biggest question
[72]
you're probably wondering how exactly do
[75]
you find the time to trade part-time
[77]
while working a nine-to-five at the end
[80]
of the day we all have the same 24 hours
[82]
and if you want to squeeze in an extra
[85]
two hours to trade before going to work
[87]
or 30 minutes before the market closes
[89]
it all comes down to a very meticulous
[92]
time management what I did as a trader
[95]
from the Pacific West Coast time zone is
[97]
that I will wake up at 4 a.m. which
[100]
would be 8 a.m. market time then I'll
[102]
use a time from 5 a.m. to 6:15 a.m. to
[106]
prepare my watch this I didn't have any
[108]
fancy scanners back then so I just used
[111]
Finn this sock market watch in stock
[113]
charts calm to do my free research and
[116]
I'll also use a think or swim platform
[118]
scanner to scan for the pre-market gap
[121]
errs if you're interested in seeing how
[123]
I set up the free cap up scanner in
[125]
thinkorswim
[125]
then check out this other video so after
[128]
I prepared to watch this I'll trade from
[130]
6:30 a.m. to about 8:00 a.m. focusing on
[133]
long strategies specifically at the open
[136]
which we'll be talking about those
[138]
specific strategies later on in the
[140]
video and what's so great about trading
[143]
at the opening first 30 minutes is that
[145]
you almost always get an immediate
[147]
follow through on your pre market
[149]
Gabor's either some low float stock with
[152]
reclaimed ad levels and break out on
[155]
high volume and go parabolic or another
[158]
penny stock will pop at the open and
[160]
sell off on day two or day three whether
[162]
you are a long buyers are short buyers
[164]
trader
[165]
the opening 30 minutes to an hour is
[167]
where you can make the quick trades and
[169]
be done for the day and head out for
[171]
work note I said quick trades but not
[174]
easy so that's exactly what I did and
[176]
you know most of the time I'll end up
[178]
showing up 30 minutes late for work but
[182]
as long as nobody at work found out it's
[185]
okay I hope now my former bosses or
[187]
supervisors are watching this I'm not
[189]
suggesting anyone to go to work late by
[191]
the way
[192]
don't hold me liable if you lose your
[194]
job please do your job and keep your job
[197]
because you're gonna need a stable
[199]
income in order to trade well on the
[202]
side and during the day at work yes I do
[205]
check up on my phone once a while to see
[207]
the overall market condition but
[209]
generally speaking I did not trade while
[212]
I was at work and even if I do that just
[215]
to close the rest of the position I had
[217]
already entered from the morning and
[219]
generally those will be the mid cap in
[222]
the large cap stocks I never like to
[224]
hold smoke a penny stock positions open
[226]
while I'm at work because there was just
[228]
no way I can keep an eye out on any of
[231]
the PR or stock price movements imagine
[234]
if a penny stock drops a mid day
[236]
offering while you are on an important
[238]
call at work or imagine if you walk into
[241]
a meeting with wind on your feet knowing
[244]
that you're up $1,000 an hour later when
[247]
you walk out you see that you're down
[249]
$3,000 I know you must be thinking come
[252]
on now humble trader this must be one of
[255]
your world-renowned bad jokes but
[257]
see though that was a true story let me
[259]
tell you for the rest of the day making
[261]
that $300 at work
[263]
minute by minute slowly for the next six
[266]
to seven hours was not enjoyable and
[269]
then truly affected my performance and
[271]
my full-time job so after that incident
[273]
I didn't want to take that kind of risk
[276]
anymore if I cannot fully concentrate on
[279]
the ticker so that's why I always made
[281]
sure to either close my entire position
[284]
or only leave a quarter of the size on
[287]
whether you want to manage your full
[288]
size position on your phone or on your
[291]
desktop while at work that's entirely
[293]
your decision of course I'm just sharing
[296]
some a tragic story for a much-needed
[299]
reality check and of course besides
[302]
trading the first hour of the market
[304]
open I also try to find time to trade
[307]
during that last hour before the market
[309]
closes and for me that will be 12 p.m.
[312]
to 1 p.m. local time
[314]
which will be lunch time for me at work
[316]
and yes that did mean I have to say
[318]
goodbye to socializing with my
[321]
co-workers at lunch and also the amazing
[323]
gym and yoga sessions at work but that's
[327]
just the kind of sacrifice that you
[328]
might have to make dream power hour
[330]
actually don't actively day trade most
[333]
of the time I spend that hour
[335]
researching on stocks that's closing
[337]
strong on a day in holding key daily
[340]
levels and I would sometimes take a
[343]
swing position long overnight I'd really
[346]
day trade to empower our this is the
[348]
basis of my buy overnight strategy video
[351]
and this will be especially valuable set
[354]
up to the US traders who are under
[356]
pattern day trader rule if you buy a
[359]
stock with an intention of holding it
[361]
overnight and sell the next day pre
[364]
market or at the market open that does
[366]
not count as a day trade for you
[368]
fortunately I'm in Canada so I never had
[371]
to deal with PDT rule see this tons of
[374]
perks of being Canadian
[375]
besides the fresh air the unlimited
[378]
supply of maple syrup
[381]
expensive gas prices now I will say
[384]
though this swing overnight strategy is
[387]
rather seasonal and the opportunities
[389]
come and go depending on the market
[391]
conditions so don't expect to be
[394]
swinging something overnight every
[396]
single day while at work there were some
[398]
months of the year where I just don't
[399]
buy or sell anything during Power Hour
[401]
but the work doesn't stop there after
[404]
the market closes if you haven't noticed
[407]
by now
[407]
this trading part-time while working
[409]
your 9 to 5 business actually requires
[412]
both full-time effort and you to hit the
[416]
like button for the YouTube algorithm
[418]
studies show that once you hit the like
[420]
button on this video your trading
[422]
account is more likely to grow a
[424]
thousand percent in 2020 and at the end
[427]
of the day after getting home from work
[429]
around 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. I was
[433]
still spend at least two hours to
[435]
research the market see how the Ola
[438]
gainers from the morning watchlist
[440]
performed and make note of any offerings
[443]
or any earnings and news for next day
[445]
and from the evening studies I would
[447]
pick the stocks I want to play
[449]
potentially the next morning most of the
[452]
time I actually preferred to play the
[454]
stocks that I already studied for the
[456]
night before and that's because I
[458]
already spent two hours looking at a
[461]
splode structure the catalyst and how
[463]
the stock trades intraday and of course
[466]
I would already have the support and
[468]
resistance levels strung out beforehand
[471]
so that would help me react to the price
[473]
movement and the volume the next day the
[477]
truth is 90% of the work in trading
[480]
happens outside of market hours and
[483]
definitely before you enter a position
[485]
it's the preparation you put into your
[488]
trading either pre market after hours or
[491]
even before bed that's going to give you
[494]
better chances of making it in this game
[496]
yes you're right doing all that work
[499]
still doesn't guarantee a hundred
[501]
percent that I'll make a profit but the
[503]
odds are definitely better than if I
[506]
were to wake up thirty minutes before
[508]
the open and stumble to my computers and
[510]
trying to follow chatroom alerts and
[512]
I'll be honest here
[514]
exactly what I did in the first six
[516]
months of my trading career I had no
[518]
playing each morning no support and
[520]
resistance level strung out no idea what
[523]
the catalysts are the stocks float any
[526]
fundamentals oh I had was a list of 1 to
[529]
10 tickers from a chat room with
[531]
headline song in it what exactly was I
[534]
supposed to do with that and with a list
[536]
and some chat room alerts I was so naive
[539]
thinking that I can make some quick and
[541]
easy money from clicking a few buttons
[543]
in 30 minutes
[544]
and while in my pajamas a messy bed hair
[547]
and sometimes even hungover
[549]
ok ok I was just kidding about the messy
[552]
hair part I know I know this doesn't
[555]
sound at all like the easy working 1
[557]
hour a day
[558]
Lamborghini money that you and I were
[561]
promised when we bought that $5,000 DVD
[564]
because I'm being real here trading is
[567]
not a hobby
[568]
it's a business you're essentially
[570]
trying to start a part-time business
[572]
that requires full-time efforts while
[575]
you're working your 9 to 5 job well in
[578]
my case it was more like a 97 job and
[580]
sometimes even six days a week so if I
[583]
could do it well maintaining 10% of my
[585]
sanity 50% of my normal sleep schedule
[588]
and only 30% of my personal
[592]
relationships you definitely can't do
[595]
now the second thing that will be
[597]
extremely beneficial for you if you're
[600]
trading part-time while working a
[601]
full-time job is utilizing range orders
[605]
or bracket conditional orders on your
[607]
broker platforms so let's say you want
[610]
to enter this penny stock SEPA at $2
[613]
because you see that's breaking a
[614]
downtrend intraday and reclaiming key
[617]
daily levels and there's a lot more room
[619]
to go but you want to make sure that if
[621]
a stock goes in your direction you get
[623]
to sell but also to cut your losses
[625]
small if it goes against you so the
[628]
solution is you can use range orders or
[631]
bracket orders that allow you to attach
[633]
stop losses and take profit orders once
[637]
you enter a position so let's say your
[639]
buy limit order on CIPA gets filled at
[642]
$2 you can attach a stop loss market
[645]
order at 184
[647]
in the cell limit order at 250 so that's
[650]
something I used to do a mid-cap in
[652]
large cap stocks not penny stocks go
[655]
like I mentioned before in this video
[657]
when I was building my small account
[659]
slowly I preferred to trade these higher
[662]
price and higher market cap stocks
[664]
because they are way less volatile and
[666]
this almost always fresh cappers with
[669]
catalysts
[670]
so most brokers out there offer you
[672]
these range orders and bracket orders
[675]
for you to use TD thinkorswim has it
[677]
Interactive Brokers and trade 0 they all
[680]
have these order types now
[682]
the third important factor to understand
[685]
when you're trading part time while
[687]
working a full time job is to do
[689]
yourself a huge favor and keep your job
[692]
contrary to what all these lifestyle
[695]
marketing in the whole day trading
[697]
industry tell you quitting your job took
[700]
day trade altogether is really not
[702]
glamorous it was easy as it may seem for
[705]
me like any good first-generation
[707]
immigrants I went to college I got a job
[710]
I got a decent paying job in the film
[712]
and VFX industry it pays pretty well but
[715]
it's not like a six-figure and your
[717]
salary with a 50,000 signing bonus at
[721]
Facebook or Google but hey it's well
[723]
enough to support myself a comfortable
[725]
life as a single individual with no
[728]
dependents I was not rich by any means
[731]
but I really do believe that having a
[734]
stable income from my job was a key
[736]
factor that allowed me to trade well
[739]
after pretty chatroom alerts and slowly
[742]
build up my small trading account while
[745]
trading part-time having that guaranteed
[748]
income from your job will provide you
[750]
the financial stability and the mental
[753]
comfort to take trading slow and allow
[756]
yourself the time you need to learn
[758]
about yourself as a trader
[759]
whether you are better at loading or
[761]
shorting what strategies you're good at
[763]
are you better at penny stocks or
[765]
mid-cap and large caps these are all the
[768]
things that you need to give yourself
[769]
time and more importantly market tuition
[773]
to learn having a stable income that you
[775]
can count on it's the only way that you
[777]
can allow yourself to be not so attached
[780]
to the money it's unfortunate but losing
[782]
is part of the business in trading it's
[784]
inevitable the key is to control your
[787]
losses and keep them small and the only
[789]
way you can actually cut your losses
[792]
small is if you are not relying on
[795]
trading profits to pay for your rent
[798]
your food or providing for your kids and
[801]
family I read this amazing quote from
[803]
this trader / businessman from Twitter
[805]
I'm never going to forget it learning to
[808]
trade means living a few years of your
[811]
life like most people won't so you can
[813]
live the rest of your life
[815]
like most people can't like I mentioned
[818]
earlier it all comes down to sacrifices
[820]
do you want this bad enough maybe it
[823]
means partying a little bit less and
[825]
weekends
[826]
eating out only once or twice a week and
[829]
sleeping only five to six hours or just
[831]
not have a life like me but of course if
[835]
everything I just talked about sounds
[836]
like too much work and too much time
[838]
there is still hope my answer to that
[840]
chat room alerts baby gives you a
[843]
hundred percent success rate 1% of the
[846]
time now you must be wondering what
[848]
exactly is this long setup that I talked
[850]
about that I personally use to trade at
[853]
the market open and one hour before the
[855]
close well you're in luck make sure to
[858]
subscribe and ring that notification
[859]
bell because in part two of this video
[862]
we're going to be talking about the
[864]
specific loan strategies that's suitable
[867]
for part-time traders growing a small
[869]
account while working a nine-to-five so
[872]
if you want me to make the video make
[875]
sure to comment below and let me know
[877]
thank you guys so much for watching as
[879]
always I'm the Humboldt trader
[881]
and I'll see you guys next week
