PR POINTS SYSTEM in AUSTRALIA | How to Calculate PR Points 2020 | Indian Students in Australia - YouTube
Channel: LTE Vlogs
[10]
So guys welcome back to LTE Vlogs and
[12]
today after long we would be shooting in our because
[14]
why not ! Since a lot of videos were shot outside
[16]
so I thought of shooting this one inside in our room.
[18]
So.. leaving these aside
[20]
today's video is only based on
[21]
PR points okay?
[23]
Because you know any international student coming here
[25]
from India, China or anywhere in the world
[27]
he/she has this question In mind that
[29]
How do I get a PR
[31]
On what basis my PR points would be calculated
[34]
and under which categories can I
[35]
get the maximum number of points.
[37]
So today's video will only include this.
[39]
Ill be discussing 7 categories
[40]
of points with you as they would define the basis
[42]
on which you get PR points
[43]
and in the end I will take you to the
[45]
home affairs website where Ill show you how to calculate PR points
[47]
using my own example so that
[49]
if you were in my place and calculate
[51]
you can easily go through the process
[53]
So in the beginning we will discuss the points and then
[55]
we will head to the home affair website
[57]
and still if you face any doubt
[59]
so make sure you drop them down in the comments
[60]
and my response time is pretty good so
[63]
so ill be responding to them
[65]
So lets begin with that.
[74]
So guys the first and foremost point
[75]
factor which applies is the Age Factor.
[78]
If you are between 18-25
[79]
then you'll be getting 25 PR points
[82]
If you are between 26-32
[84]
you get the maximum possible points
[86]
which is 30 points
[87]
And again if your age keeps increasing
[89]
then the points gradually keep decreasing.
[91]
So 25-32 is that age bracket
[93]
in which you can get the maximum points.
[95]
You'll get less points ahead of this bracket and
[97]
you will get less points before this age bracket
[98]
so make sure if you need maximum age points
[101]
you fall within the category of 25-32
[102]
and on that basis you will get the maximum points.
[104]
Next point which comes for your PR points is
[106]
your English proficiency.
[108]
So if you have an overall 8 band which means
[110]
8 in writing, reading, speaking and listening
[113]
you earn 20 points.
[115]
If your score is 7 band and above but less than 8
[117]
then you get 10 PR points.
[119]
and lastly if you have 6 band and above
[121]
you won't get any extra points for that
[123]
coz 6 band is the bare minimum
[125]
And if your score is under 6 then
[127]
then you are not eligible to apply for a PR.
[129]
So make sure if you wanna apply for a PR
[132]
then lets just say that 6 band is the minimum
[134]
which you have to mention
[136]
and the higher you go over 6
[137]
the points will keep increasing
[139]
And getting 8 overall band
[141]
in each and ever segment is not a very tough task
[143]
if you are regularly practicing
[145]
coz as you know in Australia everybody speaks English
[147]
so even while conversing normally
[149]
you brush up your English skills very easily.
[151]
This means you don't need extra effort
[153]
to get an 8 band so
[154]
according to me you would be pretty comfortable
[157]
obviously it isn't that easy but once you work for it
[159]
you'll definitely get through and
[161]
20 points is a big thing when you are calculating points for your PR.
[164]
Therefore you should focus on that as well.
[166]
Next factor comes for your Education.
[168]
So if I take my own example I did my
[170]
bachelors from India
[172]
So if you have done your bachelors from an institution
[174]
which is recognised by The Australian govt
[177]
then you get 15 points for that
[179]
moreover if you have completed your masters
[180]
within Australia, for 2 years
[185]
you will get 5 extra PR points for that.
[187]
So if you look at the cumulative total
[188]
then your bachelors and masters can give you upto 20 points
[190]
which is again a big boost
[192]
So these 3 were the main categories
[194]
on which you can gain maximum PR points
[196]
namely your Age, your English proficiency and your educational background.
[200]
Talking about the 4th point there's this test here
[202]
called NAATI which is like the regional/foreign language test
[205]
under which you can select any language
[207]
and you can work in that as an interpreter
[209]
So the options range from Hindi, Spanish, French
[212]
and many other sorts of languages are there.
[213]
NAATI basically includes you translating
[215]
from English to that language
[217]
and that language to English
[218]
If you clear this test so you can get
[220]
5 extra PR points for that as well.
[222]
Next we will talk about professional year.
[225]
Now I don't know in detail about professional year
[227]
coz im not from that background
[228]
But those people who are from Finance, Accounting or engineering background
[232]
They, on their TR
[234]
They do a professional year
[236]
which I believe is like working with a firm
[238]
If you do that for 1 year
[239]
so you get 5 extra PR points for that as well.
[241]
So all those who are coming in this stream or this field
[243]
make sure you keep this in mind.
[245]
Next step is as you all know, Regional Areas.
[247]
Ive even stated this in 2 previous videos
[249]
that if you are coming to a regional area
[251]
from November 2019 onwards
[252]
The Australian home affairs
[254]
they have stated that
[255]
If you are studying in a regional area
[257]
and pursuing education from these areas
[259]
you would be getting 5 extra PR points for that as well so
[261]
which I think are free PR points so...
[264]
I would recommend that education system here in Australia
[266]
is pretty consistent all throughout Australia
[269]
so its not like that if you're coming to a regional area
[271]
you would be missing on some education,
[273]
so I would recommend that you go to a regional area
[275]
and those 5 exrtra points so go grab it!
[277]
The 7th and the last factor which comes up is your previous work experience.
[281]
So if you have worked back in India or your home country
[283]
which will be counted
[284]
and that work as well in which you have taken a job
[286]
or worked under someone, that would also be counted.
[289]
So I believe the minimum criteria for this is
[291]
at least 3 month work ex back in India
[293]
which is included in the category of under 3 years
[295]
So like if you go to the home affairs website
[298]
and you are inputting your past experience and work
[301]
you'll receive an option of under 3 years
[304]
3-4 years, or you know more than that
[306]
So one category is done with.
[307]
And also if you have worked here in Australia
[309]
that can also get you extra points.
[311]
The amount of points can keep changing
[313]
but a bare minimum of 5 points always stays so
[315]
if you have been working in Australia then 5 PR points are yours
[318]
The work which you did in India also can also get you some points
[320]
but that also keeps changing so make sure you stay updated
[322]
through the home affairs website
[324]
you'll get regular updates through them much
[326]
faster than us coz you know we input that info into videos
[328]
but they hand to hand update it in their blogs
[330]
so make sure you check that out regularly
[333]
Ill leave a link in the description.
[334]
Make sure you bookmark their page as it is
[336]
updated almost every week
[338]
related to your student visa, related to the PR points
[340]
whatever the topic may be
[341]
they will update it so make sure you check that out.
[344]
If I talk about an additional point that is
[346]
if you are married or a single individual.
[349]
Usually what the govt does if you have a spouse
[352]
or some dependant, then don't give extra PR points for that.
[355]
but if you are single
[356]
and applying for the PR as an individual
[359]
you can get 5 extra PR points for that as well.
[362]
So guys, wait for your marriage a little
[364]
and apply for the PR as an individual coz once you
[366]
get the PR, your family can follow up
[368]
so make sure you keep that in mind as well
[563]
So guys that was it for today's video
[565]
and why was this important
[567]
so firstly many people were asking for it
[569]
that make a video on PR points and all
[571]
And secondly what happens is you know
[573]
people refer a lot of websites and forums
[576]
what happens is they manually calculate the points
[578]
and whatever total that they get that becomes wrong.
[581]
So, straight forward just go the home affairs website
[583]
they're you'll automatically get your PR points total
[586]
and it won't be incorrect as it is free from human error.
[590]
So if you have any doubts in regards to your points
[593]
Either you drop down your doubts
[595]
or just go to the home affairs website and that will clear all your doubts.
[598]
And guys if you did find this video helpful
[600]
make sure to leave a like
[602]
and if you have a friend who might need this info
[604]
make sure to share it with them
[605]
Leave down your thoughts, leave down your comments
[607]
leave down any questions that you have
[609]
and ill catch you up in the next one!
