For any week that you wish to claim benefits for unemployment insurance you

must go online to www.iowaworkforcedevelopment.gov and file a weekly

continued claim for benefits once you are in the website this is the main page

you would need to click on individual and then file unemployment and under the

weekly claims you would click on file weekly claim this is after you have

filled out the initial claim application you would begin your first weekly claim

the Sunday after you have filed your initial claim application scroll down to

about the middle of the page where it talks about file a weekly claim so most

claimants can receive unemployment insurance benefits for up to 26 weeks

and in some cases 39 weeks to receive payments after filing for UI benefits a

claimant must confirm eligibility every week using the claims reporting system

each week that the weekly claim is filed the claimant will be asked to certify

the following are you unemployed or working only reduced hours are you able

and available for work have you refused any job offers or referrals are you
[96]
actively seeking work unless your waive search your work search is waived are

you reporting any pension that you may be receiving are you reporting any gross

wages vacation or PTO severance and/or holiday pay that you may be receiving

click on file weekly claim now you may file your weekly claim on Sundays from 8

a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

currently you may file for the most recently completed week and two weeks

prior to that this is a homepage of the unemployment insurance weekly claim

you must create a PIN number click proceed to login it will ask you for

your social security number no dashes just the numbers and then click Submit

and then it asks for your four-digit personal identification number the very

first time that you log in to the system it will ask you to enter your social

security number your date of birth and then it will ask you to create a four

digit PIN number and you will have to also re-enter that four digit PIN number

regarding what happened the week ending March 21st so did you work during the

week of Sunday March 15th through Saturday March 21st you would answer the

question yes or no did you work or not if you answer yes it will ask me if this

was self employment and you click yes or no if you answer yes to the self

employment question it will ask did you have any earnings that were not from

self-employment during the week ending March 21st 2020 I answer yes then it is

going to ask me to enter the wages earned excluding earnings from

self-employment for the week ending Saturday March 21st 2020 enter the gross

amount rounded to the nearest dollar so let's say I worked and I earned $200 so

I would enter 200 then I need to answer please select the choice that best

describes your work status as of Saturday March 21st 2020 either still

working or laid off or let go for reasons other than misconduct fired

employer stated for reasons of misconduct or quit I will select

laid-off and then I would go on to the next question please note that there are

red asterisks beside the questions that are required to be completed you must

answer all questions in order to proceed

the only question it asks me is enter your holiday pay for no pay enter zero

the next question is enter your vacation or severance wages in lieu of notice of

did work for the week you would answer those two questions the next question is

are you receiving payments from a private pension or retirement fund that

was paid 100% by your employer or a military retirement yes or no were you

ready willing able and available for work the majority of the week of Sunday

March 15th through Saturday March 21st you would answer yes or no did you

refuse any job offers or job referrals during the week yes or no how many

employers did you contact during the week if you are required to do work

searches you will be asked that question you would enter the number of employers

that you contacted for work once you have answered all of the questions you

would click on submit this is your weekly claim summary of how you answered

the questions this is the time for you to review the answers to the questions

and how you responded to make sure that it is accurate if you're satisfied with

the answers and that they are true and correct then you come down to this final

question in it says please remember it is your

responsibility to keep a complete record of your work search contacts as directed

by the Workforce Development Center and to provide a copy of requested that's

only if you are required to do work searches the laws imposed penalties for

false statements do you certify the information you have provided is true

confirmation number is proof that you have filed your weekly claim you should

keep a record of your confirmation number if you've received your

confirmation number there is no reason to contact Iowa workforce to make sure

file each week you will not be paid for any weeks you do not file timely if you

miss a week of filing a claim you can do the previous two weeks if you've passed

that third week then you would be required to reactivate your claim as a

telephone number with Iowa Workforce Development to update your telephone
