How To Buy And Sell Stocks With Cash App Investing - YouTube
Channel: Jarrad Morrow
[0]
in this video i'm going to show you how
[1]
to buy and sell stocks with the brand
[4]
new cash app investing i'm going to show
[6]
you myself actually buying a stock so
[9]
you'll understand the process from start
[11]
to finish before i take you into my
[13]
phone to go through that process i'll
[14]
cover some of the features and rules
[16]
that you'll need to understand before
[18]
investing through cash app investing as
[20]
i go through the process of buying and
[22]
selling stocks i'll be sure to mention
[24]
things that i like and don't like about
[26]
this investing platform hey i'm jared
[28]
and on this channel we talk about all
[29]
things personal finance and investing if
[31]
you want to get a free five dollars from
[33]
cash app to invest then open an account
[36]
using the link down in the description
[37]
and use my referral code which i will
[39]
put on the screen here and i'll also put
[41]
it down in the description as well
[43]
you'll receive that five dollar bonus
[45]
when you send five dollars to someone
[47]
through the app if you want then you're
[48]
more than welcome to send me five
[49]
dollars through the app then i'll send
[51]
it right back to you so you'll get the
[53]
five dollar bonus just make sure to
[54]
write something in the note area so i
[57]
know to send it back to you because if
[58]
not then i won't know and also put my
[61]
cash tag down in the description as well
[63]
so you know who to send it to the great
[65]
thing about cash app invest is that they
[67]
don't charge you any fees for using this
[69]
service now there might be fees
[71]
depending on if you invest in a
[72]
particular etf but cash app as an
[75]
investing platform will not charge you
[78]
any sort of fees you can start investing
[80]
with as little as one dollar yes the
[82]
minimum to start buying shares of
[84]
companies like amazon apple and
[86]
everything else is just one dollar with
[89]
some online investing platforms you
[91]
might need anywhere from a hundred
[93]
dollars to even five hundred dollars but
[95]
not with cash app i think this is great
[97]
because it makes investing a lot more
[99]
available to a ton more people so you
[102]
will not hear me personally complaining
[104]
about that at all because they let you
[106]
start investing with as little as one
[108]
dollar you're able to purchase
[109]
fractional shares of everything on the
[112]
platform this means that if there is a
[113]
stock that you want to buy that's
[115]
trading for 100
[117]
and you want to invest one dollar into
[119]
that stock then you'll be you'll be able
[121]
to purchase one 100 of a share of that
[124]
stock this sort of thing is becoming a
[126]
lot more common among investing
[128]
platforms i first heard about this way
[130]
of stock purchasing when i started
[132]
investing through another platform that
[133]
i really like called m1 finance when you
[136]
invest through cash app you are
[137]
investing in taxable investment accounts
[140]
they do not currently offer any sort of
[142]
retirement accounts like a roth ira or a
[145]
traditional ira since this is a taxable
[147]
account you'll need to understand that
[149]
you will pay capital gains taxes on any
[151]
gains that you have from your
[153]
investments when you cash them out cash
[155]
app investing doesn't want you to do any
[157]
kind of day trading so they've created
[159]
some rules around buying and selling
[161]
your stocks if you're someone who
[163]
doesn't plan on doing this then it's not
[165]
that big of a deal for you but you'll
[166]
still want to understand this rule so
[168]
you don't actually do it and get put in
[170]
a timeout corner for 24 hours if you are
[173]
interested in doing some day trading
[175]
then you probably want to go with one of
[177]
two platforms the first one is robinhood
[180]
i'll put a link down in the description
[181]
to open an account with robinhood if you
[183]
if you use my link then you will get a
[185]
free stock and i'll get a free stock as
[187]
well or you can use weibull i'll have a
[189]
link to open up account with them if you
[191]
use my link with that one then you'll
[193]
actually get a free stock when you open
[195]
up an account and once you funded that
[196]
account with 100 you'll get a second
[198]
free stock i'll pull up my phone on the
[200]
screen right now and go through the
[202]
investing portion of cash app to show
[204]
you how to buy stocks and some other
[206]
things that you'll want to know about
[207]
one thing you need to know is you have
[209]
to have money in your cash up account to
[211]
actually invest i don't have any money
[213]
in here so i'm going to add some cash
[214]
real quick i'll should add five dollars
[217]
right there
[218]
and now we can go i got to put in my pin
[221]
so to invest you go to look to the
[223]
little squiggly line section down there
[225]
and this is actually where you can
[226]
invest in bitcoin as well uh there's the
[229]
bitcoin right there i personally do not
[231]
invest in bitcoin it's not my thing i'm
[233]
not into speculating when it comes to
[236]
investing at this point so bitcoin is
[238]
not something that i'm interested in
[240]
doing but in the stock section they give
[241]
you some pretty cool details
[244]
the first one right here is the most
[246]
traded monthly so these stocks were
[248]
bought and sold more over the last 30
[251]
days than other stocks available on cash
[253]
app
[254]
so there's a few of them and i'm sure
[256]
that changes daily as the market is open
[259]
then scrolling down a little bit more
[260]
they have the biggest daily movers so
[262]
these companies gained or lost the most
[265]
value
[266]
of any stock on cash app
[269]
so
[270]
there's
[271]
some up some pure storage is down
[275]
splunk is up i don't know what splunk is
[278]
canopy growth is down it gives you some
[280]
some details on that as well and they
[282]
actually educate you a little bit on on
[285]
the stock purchasing so down there at
[287]
the bottom my first stock so they wrote
[289]
a book to teach people about investing
[291]
and it's i watched it it's it's pretty
[293]
cool it's mostly like they say pictures
[295]
there's some some words on there too but
[298]
it's pretty interesting you can create a
[299]
watch list of stocks that you want to
[301]
keep an eye on and how you do that is
[303]
you click the uh search glass up there
[306]
and you type something in so we'll just
[307]
put um
[309]
walmart
[310]
walmart's an easy one and there's the
[313]
information we'll just click follow
[316]
and what are some other ones let's put
[317]
amazon
[319]
amazon right there we'll click follow
[322]
let's look at some apple as well
[325]
there's apple and we'll follow them
[328]
and then let's throw tesla
[331]
on there so there's tesla follow them as
[334]
well and as you add these to your watch
[336]
list close by if you go to your main
[338]
screen there is a list of of the stocks
[341]
that you personally want to watch now
[343]
let's take a look at some of the info
[344]
that you can see when you pull up a
[347]
specific stock so we'll pull up apple
[349]
right here
[350]
you can get the one day one week month a
[354]
year or all to get an idea of how the
[357]
stock is doing and if you
[359]
tap your finger and hold it on the
[360]
screen
[362]
right there where the graph is you can
[363]
actually
[364]
go through different months in the past
[367]
and you can see what the price per share
[369]
was
[370]
let's go back to
[371]
let's look at the past year so let's see
[373]
where it started at the beginning of the
[375]
year so it started at about a hundred
[377]
and you know let's go to january
[380]
uh g oh shoot this is in days let's find
[383]
january early january was about 145
[386]
dollars per share and right now you can
[389]
look and see how it's gone up it's about
[391]
250.
[392]
so in the past year it's up 52
[395]
that's pretty nice they give you that
[396]
detail right there
[398]
and then down below you can also read a
[400]
little bit about the company
[401]
to understand you know what they do if
[404]
you're not familiar with that company i
[405]
think a lot of us know what apple does
[407]
so this is this information is kind of
[409]
irrelevant but then they also give you
[411]
some details so the share price the
[413]
company value and then also the symbol
[416]
that's individual stocks now what about
[418]
etfs so extreme exchange traded funds so
[422]
like an index fund i'm gonna pull one up
[424]
and let's look at the details of that
[425]
because an index fund holds lots of
[428]
different investments so let's go to et
[430]
or eat not etf let's type in vti that's
[434]
one vanguard total stock market etf
[437]
so once again same idea it gives you
[440]
the past performance the one week one
[443]
month one year or all
[446]
and once again you can follow it if you
[448]
want so we'll just follow vti and it
[450]
gives you some details about this
[452]
specific index fund what it holds how
[455]
much of things that it holds
[458]
and then also the details so the share
[459]
price and the symbol now one thing i
[461]
don't like about this right here is an
[465]
etf usually has some sort of expense
[467]
ratio to purchase it a regular stock
[469]
doesn't so i know in this case
[472]
vti
[473]
they charge .03 percent
[476]
to buy so or if you hold it and in this
[480]
case it doesn't show you that info which
[481]
i'm not a huge fan of i wish it would
[483]
show that kind of thing i understand why
[484]
it's not on this on stocks like apple or
[487]
amazon because you don't pay an expense
[489]
ratio on those single stocks when you
[491]
purchase them and hold them but it's
[493]
kind of disappointing that they don't
[495]
have that here for
[497]
this etf all right so let's go ahead and
[499]
buy some stocks so i have five dollars
[501]
on my cash app account and i'm actually
[503]
going to buy the four companies that i
[507]
have on my watch list i'm gonna get rid
[509]
of vti for now so i need to add one more
[512]
and i am going to add
[514]
the first stock that i ever purchased
[516]
years and years ago which i don't own it
[518]
anymore i sold it which is textron
[521]
whoops is it even on here okay so they i
[523]
guess they're missing some stocks too
[526]
interesting
[528]
all right so in that case we're not
[530]
adding texture on i gotta find something
[532]
else
[533]
uh let's go with target i'm not doing
[535]
any research in these because i'm just
[537]
gonna
[538]
invest a dollar each just to show you
[540]
guys how it works so go with target as
[542]
well
[543]
alright so i haven't done this before
[545]
on this app so let's go ahead and see
[547]
how it works so we'll go to tesla
[550]
we'll go to buy and it looks like you
[551]
can choose the amount so you can choose
[554]
a preset amount which looks like it's
[556]
dollar 10 20 50 and 100 or it looks like
[559]
you can type in
[561]
a certain amount so in this case i'm
[563]
just gonna go with a dollar
[565]
next
[567]
oh i have to
[568]
fill out this information okay because i
[570]
haven't bought a stock before so let's
[572]
go through this together
[574]
employed and i'm gonna hide some of the
[576]
things on this screen
[578]
i'm not gonna tell you what the name of
[579]
my employer is next confirm that you
[581]
want to buy one dollar of tesla okay
[585]
so it gives you
[586]
some info of how many shares or what the
[589]
approximate share price is
[591]
the approximate shares you're gonna buy
[593]
with one dollar which that's the amount
[595]
there's no fees of course like we talked
[597]
about and it looks like we're going to
[599]
schedule it because i'm making this
[600]
video on a sunday so i'm sure first
[602]
thing monday it's going to trade and i
[605]
don't believe there's any trading
[606]
windows
[608]
when it comes to cash app invest i'll
[610]
have to look and if there is then i'll
[612]
put it on the screen if not then just
[613]
assume that it's not that there's not so
[615]
you can essentially
[617]
buy and sell stocks throughout the day
[620]
schedule it will be placed tomorrow at 9
[622]
30. so monday morning at 9 30 when the
[624]
market opens that's when it's going to
[626]
purchase it so let's go ahead and buy
[628]
more because i'm kind of curious when i
[629]
go to buy some of these other stocks if
[631]
it's gonna
[632]
ask me those certain questions like are
[634]
you employed and things like that
[636]
which i'm hoping it doesn't because i
[638]
did that once hopefully it saved that
[640]
information
[641]
so we'll go to buy one dollar okay so
[644]
didn't take me through those questions
[645]
again so we'll schedule that and we'll
[648]
go ahead and buy the rest of these i
[650]
placed those orders but i don't see
[651]
anywhere i can cancel them if i decide
[653]
that i don't want to place these orders
[656]
for stocks but it looks like you can if
[659]
you hit the little clock looking thing
[661]
there at the bottom right you can cancel
[663]
it so i decided i want to cancel walmart
[666]
and i decided that i want to cancel
[668]
target
[669]
target because you know what i want to
[671]
do i want to buy a different stock if
[673]
you think somebody else could find value
[675]
in this video please make sure to share
[677]
it with them let me give you some
[678]
thoughts that i have so far it is not
[681]
the best investing platform that i've
[683]
seen out there but i would say it's a
[685]
start now i would imagine that the
[687]
investing side of things is going to get
[689]
more refined as time goes on so think of
[692]
this almost like a version one that will
[694]
most likely be improved as time goes on
[697]
so i'm not too concerned with this
[699]
initial rollout of cash app invest
[701]
another thing to keep in mind is that
[703]
you'll need to do some research outside
[704]
of the app to decide what you want to
[706]
buy because the information in here
[708]
right now is very limited and i'm almost
[710]
comparing it to like a robin hood robin
[712]
hood you get a lot of information on
[716]
specific stocks and etfs when you go
[719]
into that investment platform and you
[721]
kind of look through it you get a lot of
[723]
details which i think you really want if
[726]
you're going to be a serious investor
[728]
right now i see cash app investing as a
[730]
beginner's way to start investing in the
[732]
stock market and get used to investing
[734]
because i think everyone needs to start
[736]
investing more money and understand what
[738]
they're doing so i think this is a nice
[742]
starting point for beginning investors
[745]
make sure to hulk smash that thumbs up
[746]
button and check out the description for
[748]
more playlists and resources to help you
[750]
out with all of your personal finance
[752]
and investing needs i'll see in the next
[754]
one friends adios
