Ready ....................
[4]
This was quite easy, now pronounce this - Lex Legum Baccalaureus
[10]
Hey everybody! This is Priya and you are watching Finology legal
[14]
In today's video we will discuss that after doing LLB a student can prepare for how many exams
[19]
and what options are available for a student
[22]
A Law degree is of 3 years and 5 years also and this video is valid for both types of students
[28]
If I personally say about our study of 5 years degree of Law, I found it very beautiful and special
[36]
because in this a law student is not limited with in the box
[40]
National, International, History, International relations, Company law, Labour law, Sports law, Medical law
[46]
no such topic is there which can't be part of syllabus of a law student
[49]
that's why if there is a discussion going around any topic, a law student can easily present his views over it and can contribute over it
[58]
So in this 5 years, a law student has very good opportunity available to figure out his Area of Interest and can acquire skill according to the requirement of it
[69]
but there are many such peoples amongst us, specially first generation lawyer
[73]
where no other people are from in this field in their family
[77]
so they don't know about the carrier options available after completing LLB
[80]
which qualifying exams are there and what is the basic requirements needed for it, they don't know much about all this
[86]
so if you are also a this category student, then congratulations you at the very right place
[91]
just keep copy and notebook near you, and we will start this video
[95]
Firstly, there is Supreme Court Law Clerk Cum Research Assistant Exam
[99]
this a short term and contractual basis job. In which final year students can also apply for this
[104]
So if you planning for Judiciary and Litigation
[108]
then this job opportunity can provide you a first hand experience for it
[112]
and along with the good exposure you get very good stipend around Rs 65000 in this job
[118]
So lets know what are the requirements needed for this job
[121]
firstly we will consider qualifications required for it
[123]
one should be a law graduate or you can also apply while appearing in your last year also
[129]
The Candidate must have knowledge of computer including retrieval of desired information
[133]
from various search engines such as Manupatra, SCC Online, LexisNexis, Westlaw etc.
[140]
and the candidate's age must be between 18 -27 Years
[144]
one thing to be in notice that you should not be a practicing advocate
[149]
Now, lets see the exam pattern
[152]
Selection is done on the basis of written test and Interview
[155]
there are 2 sections in written test
[158]
Section 01 consists of 50 marks in which questions related to General English, Aptitude and Awareness are asked
[164]
and Section 02 consists of 100 marks in which questions from Indian Constitution, IPC, CrPC, CPC, Evidence Act and from other laws are asked
[173]
Merit List is prepared on the basis of marks secured by the candidate in the written test
[179]
after that candidates are short listed and are invited for the Interview
[184]
Interview consists of 30 marks
[186]
Next we will discuss about CLAT PG and PSU placements
[191]
if you are willing to do LLM after LLB, then you will fill the CLAT PG exam form
[196]
and through this exam form you can apply for PSU's (Public Sector Undertakings)
[201]
There is a MoU between CLAT Committee & different PSU's
[206]
that they will hire their candidates on the basis of their score in CLAT PG
[210]
so if you are preparing for LLM or PSU placements
[215]
then you can also checkout my CLAT PG crash course
[219]
and you can also enroll to our mock test series
[223]
you can find the link of both below in the description box
[226]
So lets understand the pattern of this exam
[229]
Every year some reputed PSU's like ONGC, BHEL, IOCL, NTPC, PGCIL etc.
[239]
come out with vacancies for the different posts such as Law officers, Legal advisors, Legal Executive Trainees
[247]
and for this, candidates can apply on the basis of their CLAT score
[252]
so along with the CLAT you have to fill the form for the PSU in which you are interested
[259]
now lets check the eligibility for this
[261]
You should be graduated with 55% marks
[264]
For certain PSU's, a candidate may also be required to score 60% marks
[267]
cutoff marks varies every year, but if you are ranked amongst top 100 in CLAT then your selection is possible
[275]
So if you have ranked good in CLAT PG and you are shortlisted
[279]
then the next round is of Group Discussion and Personal Interview
[283]
Now lets look at the Exam Paper Pattern
[285]
there are 2 sections in CLAT PG
[288]
1 Section is of objective pattern in which 100 questions are asked
[292]
1 mark is given for right answer and -0.25 is deducted for every wrong answer
[297]
2nd section is descriptive part, in which essay writing is there
[301]
in this paper, the mandatory subjects which we study while graduation
[306]
like Constitutional law, Jurisprudence, family law, Criminal law, ITR, taxation or labour law
[312]
questions from all these subjects are asked.
[314]
Next is AIBE exam (All India Bar Examination) which is conducted by the Bar Council of India
[319]
This exam assess the knowledge and skill of an individual for becoming an advocate
[325]
as you qualify the exam a certificate of practice is issued by the Bar council of India
[332]
by which you can practice in any court of the country
[336]
but if you are not going to do practice in future and thinking what is the purpose of giving this exam
[343]
then I would say that, there are many exams in which it is prerequisite that one should be registered as an advocate
[351]
and have cleared this examination. So appearing for this exam is always beneficial
[355]
So lets know, what are the requirements for it
[357]
lets check the Eligibility for the exam
[359]
One should be an Indian Citizen, must have a 3 -5 years law degree
[364]
and you must have enrolled with your state Bar council
[369]
There is no age limit for this examination
[372]
and there is no concepts of maximum attempts, you can appear for this exams as many times
[377]
now lets look at the pattern of this exam
[379]
This is an objective based exam means MCQ type questions are asked in it
[385]
100 questions are asked each contains 1 marks and the exam is conducted in 11 languages
[391]
for passing the examination if you are of General Category then you need 40% marks
[395]
and the candidates of ST/SC category need 35% marks to pass
[400]
questions from around 19 subjects are asked in this exam
[405]
these are the subjects which we study while our graduation
[409]
for ex- 10 questions each is asked from Constitution, CrPC, CPC
[414]
8 questions from IPC and Family each, 4 questions from Administrative law so like this total 100 questions are asked of 100 marks
[421]
and from 19 subjects these questions are asked
[424]
After completing law if you are more interested in Banking Laws and Commercial Laws
[429]
and you are willing to work in a bank then you can prepare for IBPS Exam
[435]
this Institution handles the recruitment procedures of public sector banks except SBI's
[444]
it also have different levels Probationary officer (PO), Special officer (S0)
[448]
and the requirements are different for it, so lets understand the pattern of it
[453]
This is a national level examination which is conducted once a year
[458]
lets check the requirement for it
[460]
Candidates age limit should be between 20 to 30 years
[464]
The candidate must have completed his/her graduation
[468]
and the candidate must have enrolled with Bar Council as an advocate
[472]
The exam is of 3 levels
[475]
Pre, Mains and Interview
[477]
lets know about the pre exam, this is basically a qualifying round only, means it has nothing to do with further selection
[485]
In this round, questions from Reasoning, English, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness is asked
[489]
the IBPS exam is mainly focused on commercial laws
[495]
so if you have special interest in Business and Banking laws then you can appear for this exam
[500]
now comes Mains exam, in this most questions are asked from commercial laws only
[505]
like Arbitration and conciliation act, consumer protection act, RBI act, NI act, Partnership, SEBI, Companies from these the questions are asked
[516]
the exam which comes after this doesn't need any introduction
[519]
I am saying about UPSC's civil services examination, over 10 to 15 lakhs students of the country attempts the exam every year
[527]
and only several thousands of candidates gets selected in this
[529]
The benefit which a law student gets in this exam is of Constitution. Which we study deeply while pursuing our LLB degree
[537]
and the subject Indian polity plays a very important role in this examination
[543]
So the first stage is Preliminary stage in which objective type MCQ''s questions are asked
[549]
2 papers are conducted in this stage, Paper -1 consist of 200 marks in which questions related to General Studies are asked
[554]
while paper-2 is of CSAT and it also consist of 200 marks
[559]
Marks obtained in Paper -1 decides that the candidate has qualified for the mains or not
[565]
Generally Paper-1 cutoff goes between 50-60% marks
[569]
lakhs of candidates who apply for this exam gets excluded in this stage only
[574]
The next stage is Mains exams in which subjective type questions are asked
[580]
total 9 papers are conducted in it
[582]
the merit list is prepared on the basis of marks you have scored in 7 papers
[589]
and the remaining 2 papers are the qualifying papers
[592]
means you have to score 25% marks in these 2 papers
[596]
The total marks of the 7 papers is 1750
[600]
and if got qualified in this, then you will receive an Interview call
[605]
Interview consists of 275 marks
[608]
Just like this every state conducts State public service exam
[613]
which offers posts like District magistrate, Tehsildar, BDO etc.
[618]
The next exam is Staff Selection Commission's SSC - CGL exam
[623]
which offers posts like Income Tax officer, Audit officer, Sub Inspector and Statistical Investigator
[629]
after completing LLB, if you wish to join as a judge or an advocate in Indian Army and want to handle their legal matters
[638]
then you can prepare for Judge Advocate General exam which is also called as JAG Exam
[644]
The vacancies for this exam don't come very often and the applicants are also very less so the level of competition is similar
[651]
You can start preparing for this exam because it also has a Age limit
[656]
You should know that this is a SSC entry means short service commission post
[660]
So If you get selected in this, you will serve minimum 10 years Probation
[665]
but it also depends on the term of your service that how good you have worked. You can extend the service up to 4 years
[671]
Lets check the eligibility for the exam
[674]
Candidate must have a 3 or 5 years law degree with minimum 55% marks
[681]
now we will look at the selection procedure of this
[684]
The very first procedure is shortlisting of Applicants, this is a direct exam means no written exam is conducted for this
[691]
As the candidates apply for the exam, their shortlisting procedure begins
[694]
but the candidates who have applied for the exam it is not necessary that all will qualify for this
[699]
and with out any reason assigned the shortlisting is done
[703]
Now the shortlisted candidates undergo SSB interview
[707]
SSB is Services Selection Board, this organization assess those candidates who apply for Indian army
[715]
SSB selection procedure is two - stage selection procedure and it is mainly a psychological aptitude test
[721]
the candidates confidence, psychology and personality is checked in this exam
[725]
now the candidates who qualifies this round, they go under medical test
[729]
like the criteria for height is also set, for male it is 157 cm and for female - 152 cm
[736]
after qualifying all the rounds, the candidates are sent to Chennai for a 49 weeks training
[743]
after the training candidates join Indian Army as Commissioned officer
[747]
first Lieutenant, then Captain and then Major
[750]
The next exam is RBI Legal Officer Exam
[753]
In this job you will handle bank's different departments legal issues
[757]
and will prepare initial drafts of legislations
[759]
you will represent bank in conciliation and in labour courts
[763]
The age limit to apply for the job is between 21 - 32 years
[767]
but if you have done LLM or PhD, then you will get 3 to 5 years relaxation in age
[773]
Now lets check the qualifications needed for it
[775]
One should have a LLB degree passed with 50% marks
[780]
and for the reserved candidates the criteria is 45% marks
[783]
If you have Master's Degree in Law or you have Bachelor's Degree in law with 60% marks then you will get preference amongst others
[790]
and you must have enrolled with Bar Council
[793]
Along with this you must have atleast two year's experience as an Advocate/Legal Consultant/ Legal Assistant
[801]
or you are in any Law firm or you are a full time teacher in a Law college/university then also you are eligible
[809]
Now lets see the Paper Pattern
[811]
There are 2 papers in this, 1st paper is General Knowledge of Law
[816]
in which 30 marks objective questions and 120 marks Descriptive questions are asked
[822]
2nd Paper is English paper in which 100 marks Descriptive questions are asked
[827]
The total marks of the paper is 250 marks
[830]
now we will come to the syllabus
[831]
Questions from these subjects - Constitutional Law, Legal Drafting, Interpretation of Statues, Administrative law,
[836]
Registration Act , Sarfaesi Act from these the questions are asked
[841]
they doesn't have an exhaustive syllabus
[843]
and they can ask the questions out of the syllabus also
[847]
As I said you in the beginning of the video
[849]
the speciality and beauty of our LLB degree is that a student can pursue his interest area
[857]
so if you are interested in securities market (stock market)
[861]
then you can also apply for SEBI's Law officer exam
[866]
there are limited vacancies for this examination
[869]
only 30 to 35 posts including reserved and unreserved
[873]
but most of the students doesn't even know about this examination
[876]
so if this comes under your Area of Interest, then you can definitely apply for this exam
[880]
so lets check the requirement for the exam
[882]
The candidate must have a Law degree and his/her age should not be more than 30 years
[889]
in some cases relaxation is given in age
[892]
SEBI's recruitment procedure is of 3 phases
[895]
In phase-1, Objective type MCQ questions are asked
[899]
Paper 1 in which questions are asked from General Awareness, English language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning
[906]
In paper 2 questions are asked from specialized subjects
[910]
such as SEBI Act, Administrative law, CPC, Constitution of India, Law of Contract etc.
[916]
from all these subjects questions are asked
[918]
Both papers are of 100 marks each
[920]
Cutoff for paper 1 is 30% and 40% cutoff is set for paper 2
[925]
after this comes phase - 2, in this phase also there are 2 papers
[929]
Paper - 1 is English subject and it is a descriptive paper of 100 marks and its cutoff is 30%
[936]
after this comes Paper - 2, similar to Phase -1 law based questions are asked in this paper
[942]
and new legislations are also covered
[944]
this paper is also of 100 marks and the cutoff is 40%
[948]
If you qualify these 2 phases then you will be shortlisted for the interview
[953]
So this was today's video
[955]
in which we learned what options a law student can explore after degree and for which exams they can prepare for
[961]
Generally I have seen that after completing the graduation students start preparing for different competitive exams
[971]
but it is very important to identify your Area of Interest and absorb the skills required for that
[979]
and then start preparing for the exam according to that
[982]
because if you apply for the exam in which you are not interested about it
[986]
and if you got selected, then it may be possible that after an year or so you quit that post
[991]
but then after pursuing your Area of Interest may become difficult for you
[995]
that's why it is very important to figure out your Area of Interest
[999]
so if you have just entered a Law college then you are having a very good opportunity
[1003]
to figure out your interested area
[1007]
because in a Law college you get very good exposure
[1010]
So fill up the form according to your interest areas
[1014]
rather than filling the form and after selection you may think do I like this Job or not
[1020]
and I have decided to make a separate video for Judiciary that's why I have not included that in this video
[1026]
I hope you have learned something new in today's video
