ThinkCentre M73 / E73 / M72e Small Form Factor Desktop - Solid State Drive Replacement - YouTube

Channel: unknown

[5]
Hi everybody. I鈥檓 Mike with Lenovo,
[8]
and I鈥檓 here with the ThinkCentre M73 series
[12]
which is available in three form factors. We have a Tower, the Small, and the Tiny.
[24]
Today we are going to be replacing the solid state drive in the small form factor.
[28]
The process should take about fifteen minutes, and it should be easy enough for anyone to do.
[34]
The only tool required will be a Phillips screwdriver.
[37]
Before we continue, we want to make sure that we are protected against electrostatic discharge, or ESD.
[42]
For more information on ESD, click the link in the description.
[46]
Now let鈥檚 get started.
[48]
First, you want to remove the two thumb screws.
[58]
Then slide the cover back and lift it.
[64]
Now we want to pop the clips loose on the front bezel, and then open it and remove it.
[73]
And we still have a cable here that goes inside.
[78]
And now we need to open the drive bay assembly,
[81]
and we just want to open it until this latch pops and locks it open.
[86]
Now we need to disconnect the power button cable from the system board.
[93]
And now we have these two clips that hold the cable in place.
[98]
Twist to open the clips and then you can pull the cable out.
[105]
So now we just need to pull the front bezel away from the system
[108]
and feed this cable through the hole in the chassis.
[112]
Now we need to lay the system down flat on the table.
[118]
Before removing the hard drive, we have to disconnect the cables,
[122]
so we disconnect the power cable and then the SATA cable.
[130]
And then on the other side of the drive bay assembly we have four screws
[136]
that we need to remove that hold the drive bracket in place.
[159]
And then we just pull the bracket out.
[163]
So now we need to remove the drive from the bracket,
[165]
so we flip it over and we find four screws that need to come out.
[194]
And then we can just pull the bracket off, and there is the drive.
[202]
So here we have our new hard disk drive in the anti-static bag.
[206]
And we want to go ahead and remove it from the bag and place it in the system.
[212]
So now we have the new drive to put in the bracket,
[215]
so we place it in with the connections to the outside edge and the drive pressed up against the tabs.
[224]
And then we install the four screws.
[252]
Then we place the bracket into the drive bay assembly,
[256]
making sure that the screw holes line up on the other side,
[260]
and install the four screws to hold it in place.
[281]
Then we need to connect the SATA cable to the drive.
[291]
Now we connect the power cable.
[299]
So now we need to stand the system back up to put the front bezel back on.
[305]
We need to feed the power button cable through the hole in the chassis
[312]
and pull it all the way through.
[313]
Then we鈥檝e got to make sure the cable goes back into the clips
[317]
and you twist the clip to close it.
[324]
Now we need to reconnect the power button cable to the system board.
[332]
Now we need to close the drive bay assembly.
[334]
You want to press down on the blue touch point on the latch,
[337]
which allows you to close it.
[339]
Then you just make sure it closes all the way.
[342]
Now we want to align the hinge clips with the holes in the chassis,
[347]
and then close the front bezel like a door.
[352]
We place the cover onto the system and slide it forward.
[357]
Then replace the two thumb screws.
