How do you change a Paradigm? | Bob Proctor - YouTube
Channel: Proctor Gallagher Institute
[0]
- Hello there, and welcome.
[1]
You know, last May we did
a video on Paradigms 101.
[7]
And we talked about paradigms
[9]
and how they're formed
[11]
and how they impact your life.
[13]
Well I want to take you a
little bit further right now
[16]
and I want to talk to you about
how paradigms are changed.
[23]
This is such an important subject
[25]
that I think it should be
taught to every student
[27]
at a very, very early
age at a very early grade
[32]
because paradigms literally
control people's lives.
[35]
And when you see people
talking about being frustrated
[38]
and I get so sick of
living the way I'm living,
[40]
it's your paradigm that's
bringing it all about.
[43]
And they know nothing about it.
[45]
Stop the average person on the street
[47]
or maybe somebody, a relative or a friend
[49]
that you're talking to
in the next phone call,
[51]
say, do you know what a paradigm is?
[53]
Ask them to explain it to you.
[56]
Paradigm's a very, very broad word.
[59]
Did you know that
countries have paradigms?
[62]
Countries do, families do.
[65]
Families have paradigms.
[66]
The company you're working
for has a paradigm.
[69]
And I have one and so do you.
[72]
Paradigm is a conditioning.
[75]
You could call it culture
[77]
in so far as a country's concerned
[78]
or a company or a family.
[81]
It's the culture of that company
[83]
or that particular country.
[86]
That's what a paradigm is.
[87]
It's our habitual way of perceiving
[90]
all things, of doing, of acting,
[93]
of living the way we're living.
[95]
Our paradigm controls what we eat.
[98]
Now think, the paradigm is the program
[102]
in your subconscious mind
that controls your behavior.
[106]
What you know doesn't
control your behavior,
[109]
your conscious mind, you've
got all this knowledge,
[111]
you know how to do a better job,
[112]
but you're not doing it.
[114]
We know how to do things.
[115]
Parents say, why are you doing that,
[116]
the kid says, I don't know,
[117]
and their kid doesn't know.
[119]
And the parent doesn't know
[120]
'cause the parent doesn't
understand paradigms.
[123]
So they say the child knows,
[125]
but they're not doing it.
[126]
The parent knows but the
parent's not doing it,
[128]
the salesperson knows,
[129]
but the salesperson's not doing it.
[131]
The student knows,
[132]
but the student's not doing it.
[134]
See, the paradigm is the program
[136]
in the subconscious mind
that controls the behavior
[139]
and produces a result.
[141]
Now, it's the result we
say that we don't like.
[144]
Let's suppose a result is that
you sleep in every morning,
[147]
you just have a terrible time getting up.
[149]
And if you're sleeping
in if your always late,
[151]
that causes all kinds of
problems socially and mentally,
[155]
it's just not good.
[158]
But that's a result.
[159]
You sleep in everyday.
[161]
You hit the snooze button
[163]
and you go back to sleep.
[165]
Now, I'm going to tell
you what I want you to do.
[167]
I want you to put the alarm clock
[170]
a long ways away from the bed.
[172]
And before you go to bed,
[175]
you make up your mind you're going to
[176]
do something before you go to sleep.
[178]
As you're going to sleep you say
[180]
tomorrow morning when I wake up, I get up,
[182]
when I wake up, I get up.
[183]
That's just the way it is.
[184]
Tomorrow morning when I wake up, I get up.
[187]
Now, that's a command
you're giving to yourself.
[190]
And go to sleep with that in your mind.
[191]
Tomorrow morning when I wake up, I get up.
[193]
Now, you got to get up
to turn the alarm off,
[195]
so you stay up.
[196]
When your feet hit the deck,
[198]
you stay that way.
[199]
When you wake up, you get up.
[201]
Now, by doing that over and over
[204]
a number of days in a row,
[206]
maybe a week, two weeks,
three weeks, four weeks,
[209]
you're going to change the habit pattern.
[212]
When you change the habit pattern,
[213]
you've changed the paradigm.
[215]
So you started with the results you want
[217]
and you say what's causing it?
[220]
And you change the cause of the result.
[224]
So instead of saying I love to sleep in,
[225]
I'm going to hit the snooze button, uh uh.
[228]
I'm getting up.
[230]
When I wake up, I get up.
[231]
When my feet hit the deck,
[232]
I'm staying up.
[233]
And that's the way it is.
[235]
So you take a look at the
results you don't like
[237]
and you change the cause, you
change the behavioral pattern.
[241]
Then work on another one.
[242]
You shouldn't try and change
more than two at a time.
[245]
It's a little heavy.
[247]
You change your paradigm,
[248]
you'll change your life.
[249]
I changed mine.
[250]
I went from struggling to success,
[253]
I went from being broke all the time
[255]
to becoming very wealthy.
[257]
If I can do it, you can do it.
[259]
If I can do it, anybody can do it.
[264]
Do it.
[267]
