[62]
my son and and of course my brothers my
[65]
niece and we just had a wonderful time
[67]
at my mom's house
[68]
it was amazing lots of cake lots of pie
[72]
uh my grandmother's famous macaroni and
[74]
cheese but again it was a wonderful
[75]
father's day but how did you guys spend
[77]
your father's day
[78]
drop me a comment down below i'd love to
[80]
hear about it the stimulus news did not
[81]
take a break
[82]
either as senator bernie sanders went on
[84]
different interviews to
[86]
talk about how he's against the current
[88]
bipartisan deal and how he got the
[90]
virtual go ahead from president biden
[92]
on the six trillion dollar
[93]
reconciliation bill first
[95]
on the bipartisan deal sanders said that
[97]
while he believed that he was included
[99]
in the proposed bipartisan
[101]
infrastructure bill
[102]
it was mostly good but he did not
[104]
support raising the gas tax
[105]
issuing fees on electrical vehicles or
[108]
prioritizing
[109]
infrastructure here's bernie are you
[111]
comfortable with a two-step process
[113]
where you do you you noted this is the
[116]
25 percent
[117]
uh about of what of what president biden
[119]
asked for
[120]
is it worth it in your mind to take what
[122]
you can get in a bipartisan way
[125]
especially if that's the way you can get
[127]
joe manchin and kirsten cinema
[129]
to get on board a a democrats only bill
[132]
that may
[132]
tackle the care economy as you just
[134]
outlined
[136]
well look as i said what is in the
[139]
bipartisan bill in terms of spending
[142]
is from what i can see mostly good it is
[144]
roads and bridges and we need to do that
[146]
that is what
[147]
we are proposing in our legislation but
[149]
in much greater
[151]
numbers uh one of the concerns that i do
[153]
have about the bipartisan
[155]
bill is how they are going to pay uh
[158]
for their proposals and they're not
[160]
clear yet i don't know
[161]
that they even know yet but some of the
[163]
speculation is raising a gas tax
[165]
which i don't support a fee on electric
[168]
vehicles
[169]
privatization of infrastructure those
[171]
are proposals that i would not support
[173]
so the real deal breaker for sanders and
[175]
i imagine a whole lot of other lawmakers
[177]
is how the stimulus package will be paid
[180]
for in bernie sanders words
[181]
nobody really knows what is going to be
[183]
in the bipartisan agreement and how it
[185]
is going to be paid for
[186]
if it is roads and bridges yeah of
[188]
course we need to do that and i support
[190]
that if it's regressive taxation
[192]
you know raising gas taxes or fees on
[195]
electric vehicles or the privatization
[197]
of
[197]
infrastructure no i wouldn't support it
[200]
so we don't have the details right now
[201]
those details we're going to see
[203]
revealed this week both for the senate
[204]
bipartisan deal that already has 11
[207]
republican votes
[208]
locked and loaded and the 6 trillion
[210]
reconciliation bill that
[212]
sanders and the senate budget committee
[214]
are working on in fact
[215]
sanders already talked about this in
[216]
another interview he said that he wants
[218]
an infrastructure package with a larger
[220]
price tag more specifically
[222]
sanders sometimes think we get bogged
[224]
down in numbers and that's important
[226]
but we've got to look at what the needs
[227]
are of the american people what's going
[229]
on right now let's take a look
[231]
your six trillion dollar reconciliation
[233]
package will likely include
[235]
uh so-called human infrastructure like
[238]
paid family leave
[239]
elder care but you've also indicated
[242]
that
[242]
it could go beyond that address the
[244]
climate crisis
[245]
medicare even immigration so i know you
[248]
speak with president biden frequently
[250]
you have his blessing to go this big
[252]
well down anna what i think the
[253]
president has done is given us a
[256]
blueprint as to where we want to go and
[257]
i think it's a serious and comprehensive
[259]
blueprint you know i sometimes think we
[262]
get boggled down in numbers and that's
[264]
important but we got to look at what the
[265]
needs are
[266]
of the american people what's going on
[268]
right now and what is going on right now
[270]
obviously as everybody knows
[272]
very rich are doing phenomenally well
[273]
corporate profits are soaring
[275]
and yet we have in terms of real wages
[278]
for working people it's lower today than
[280]
it was
[281]
48 years ago half of our people are
[283]
living paycheck to paycheck
[285]
let's go through the issues does anyone
[287]
think that child care in america
[289]
is satisfactory it is a disaster working
[291]
families can pay
[292]
fifteen twenty thousand dollars a year
[294]
for child care we got a housing crisis
[297]
how do you not deal with climate you
[300]
tell me
[300]
look at what's going on in california
[302]
australia scientists tell us we have a
[304]
few
[304]
years left before there's irreparable
[306]
damage of course you have to deal with
[308]
climate we're the only major
[310]
country on earth not that paid family
[312]
and medical leave
[313]
meanwhile large corporations in the rich
[316]
avoid paying their fair share of taxes
[318]
and we have to address that as well so
[320]
all that the president is doing all i
[322]
am doing is taking a look at reality for
[324]
working families
[325]
understand their needs have been ignored
[327]
for decades now it is time to create
[329]
good-paying jobs
[330]
millions of good-paying jobs addressing
[333]
healthcare
[334]
housing infrastructure you told my
[336]
co-anchor jake tapper
[338]
that it is your job also as budget
[340]
committee chairman
[341]
to get input from the other 49 members
[344]
of
[344]
the democratic caucus a number of them
[347]
i'm sure you've heard by now
[348]
joe manchin jeanne shaheen john tester
[351]
they're already expressing deep
[353]
reservations about what you just
[355]
described which adds up
[356]
we believe to 6 trillion dollars so
[359]
how do you square that are you willing
[361]
to come off that number or scale
[364]
back to follow how you describe your
[367]
plan to scale back in some of
[368]
what you want to do in order to actually
[370]
get it passed
[372]
well done the process has just begun and
[374]
that's what the process is about as
[376]
chairman of the committee
[378]
i intend to be meeting and discussing
[381]
these issues with every member of the
[382]
democratic caucus
[384]
and you know i think that there is
[387]
general agreement that the time is long
[390]
overdue that we address many of the long
[393]
neglected problems facing
[395]
the middle class and working class of
[397]
this country are there differences
[399]
about this proposal that proposes the
[401]
amount of money yeah they are
[402]
and that's something we're going to have
[403]
to work together to hammer out and i
[405]
intend to do that when he was asked
[406]
about president biden's go-ahead for his
[408]
six trillion dollar plan
[409]
sanders said the president provided a
[412]
serious and comprehensive blueprint for
[414]
a bit of background
[415]
sanders is definitely president biden's
[417]
right-hand man and they're known to
[419]
frequently keep in touch that's why he
[420]
was chosen to chair
[422]
the very important senate budget
[423]
committee that is in charge of
[425]
government spending i mean right after
[427]
senate majority leader chuck schumer
[428]
sanders is most probably the second most
[431]
powerful person in the senate another
[433]
important part about the interview is
[434]
that sanders said that he's willing to
[436]
negotiate on the price tag
[437]
of the reconciliation bill and to quote
[440]
are there differences about the proposal
[441]
that proposal and the money yeah there
[444]
are and that's something we have to work
[445]
together to hammer out
[446]
i intend to do that so that's what we're
[448]
going to be keeping an eye on
[450]
this week and update you guys with
[451]
details in each new video right here on
[453]
our channel now if you guys thought that
[455]
last week was a doozy of a newsweek
[457]
wait for this one we're definitely going
[458]
to see developments in both the
[460]
bipartisan infrastructure package as
[462]
well as the reconciliation bill
[464]
like i've been telling you guys senate
[465]
majority leader chuck schumer plans to
[467]
bring
[468]
a scaled-down infrastructure package to
[470]
the senate floor in july
[472]
under regular order and the
[473]
reconciliation bill after the august
[475]
recess
[476]
we are still on standby for more details
[478]
on those two but here's what we have so
[480]
far for the bipartisan stimulus deal 1.2
[482]
trillion dollars of spending over eight
[485]
years
[485]
974 billion dollars spent over the first
[488]
five years the plan calls for 579
[491]
billion dollars of new spending the
[493]
spending will be focused on core
[495]
physical infrastructure the plan will be
[497]
paid for without tax hikes
[499]
many of the specific details still need
[501]
to be ironed out
[502]
yup they got that one right now as for
[504]
the six trillion dollar reconciliation
[506]
bill here's what we know about so far
[508]
medicare expansion to dental care
[510]
hearing aids and eyeglasses lowering the
[512]
cost of prescription drugs deal with
[514]
climate change
[515]
deal with the housing crisis now as for
[517]
stimulus checks the data is definitely
[519]
still in our favor
[520]
around 4 000 people participated in the
[522]
latest go
[523]
banking rates poll and it showed that 45
[526]
planned to use their third stimulus
[527]
check to pay bills
[528]
additionally 12 planned to spend it on
[531]
food as well as other necessities and
[533]
nine percent plan to use it to pay for
[535]
rent or mortgage
[536]
an analysis of census bureau surveys
[538]
also argues that the two latest rounds
[541]
of aid
[542]
significantly improved americans ability
[544]
to buy food
[545]
and pay for household bills as well as
[547]
reduced anxiety
[548]
and depression with the largest benefits
[551]
going to the poorest households with
[553]
children overall combined with the
[555]
effects of the american rescue plan
[557]
direct payments also known as stimulus
[559]
checks could reduce the number in
[560]
poverty in 2021 from 44 million to 16
[563]
million now that's coming from the house
[565]
ways and means committee letter to
[566]
president biden regarding
[568]
recurring stimulus checks and that's
[570]
exactly why we're still holding out for
[572]
another stimulus miracle
[573]
like the one that happened in december
[575]
you remember that one right guys almost
[576]
every single person gave up on the
[578]
second stimulus check except
[579]
us and then voila you know our lawmakers
[582]
finally heard our call
[583]
put in another round of stimulus checks
[585]
so let's not underestimate the power of
[587]
positive thinking just yet
[588]
we'll keep on keeping it real on this
[590]
channel while balancing it out with hope
[592]
and a little bit of positive thinking i
[593]
mean they technically have not at all
[595]
closed the door on a stimulus check if
[597]
you really think about it like white
[598]
house press secretary jen saki said
[600]
president biden's open to all
[602]
suggestions more updates on this on my
[604]
next videos
[605]
loads more stimulus coming your way in
[607]
this video guys make sure you guys stay
[609]
tuned for the latest on the covet 19
[611]
antiviral
[612]
pills and how you can get past the
[614]
mountain of paperwork that all rental
[616]
assistance programs are requiring now
[618]
before we get to this let's talk about
[619]
what they're cooking up for medicaid
[621]
congressional democrats are pushing
[623]
legislation that would expand medicaid
[625]
in states that have so far refused to do
[627]
so right now there are still 12 states
[630]
refusing the expansion of medicaid
[632]
eligibility provided under obamacare
[634]
that means that 2.2 million
[636]
low-income people are left without
[638]
coverage that they otherwise
[639]
would have now one approach is going
[641]
federal with it by including it in the
[643]
reconciliation bill that they're working
[644]
on right now they just have to balance
[646]
out the cost with the savings from
[647]
another health care priority which would
[649]
ultimately lower prescription drug
[651]
prices
[651]
in the senate finance committee chairman
[653]
ron wyden he said he's also working on
[655]
the medicaid expansion
[656]
issue but did not provide exact details
[659]
we continue to believe that so many
[661]
vulnerable people
[662]
are falling between the cracks i'm
[663]
working on that that's what he said
[665]
exciting news guys is your state one of
[667]
the 12 states that's still waiting on
[668]
this
[669]
drop us a comment down below i would
[670]
love to hear from you guys now speaking
[672]
of medicine the biden administration
[674]
announced a 3.2 billion dollar plan to
[677]
build up the country's
[678]
supply of drugs to treat cova 19 and
[681]
future viral threats
[682]
this includes effective antiviral
[684]
medicines that can be taken at home
[686]
preventing surges in hospitalizations
[688]
and leading to fewer deaths now
[690]
according to dr fauci
[691]
new antivirals that prevent serious
[693]
covet 19 illness and death
[695]
especially oral drugs that can be taken
[698]
at home early in the course of disease
[700]
would be powerful tools for battling the
[702]
pandemic and saving lives now overall
[705]
the plan provides 300 million dollars
[707]
for research and laboratory support
[709]
nearly one billion dollars for
[711]
pre-clinical and clinical evaluations
[713]
nearly 700 million dollars for
[715]
development and manufacturing
[717]
and one billion dollars to form groups
[719]
called anti-viral drug discovery centers
[722]
for pathogens of pandemic concern to
[724]
accelerate the creation of
[725]
antiviral drugs now that is some cool
[728]
work just one year after
[729]
the global pandemic that essentially
[731]
swept the whole world
[732]
i've got to say this is some really fast
[734]
times that we're living in i just hope
[735]
that our lawmakers can make stimulus
[737]
just a little bit faster too what do you
[739]
guys think about that another stimulus
[740]
concern
[741]
is housing on a national scale some
[743]
lawmakers are pushing for making housing
[745]
a human right take a look at
[747]
representative promila jayapal's tweet
[748]
she says 1 million tenants are evicted
[750]
every year
[751]
500 000 people were left homeless before
[753]
the pandemic enough
[755]
we can and must take bold steps to make
[757]
sure everyone has a place to call home
[759]
it's time to guarantee housing as a
[761]
human right
[761]
join the fight but that dream still a
[763]
bit farther down the road more
[764]
accessible right here right now
[766]
is the 10 billion homeowners assistance
[769]
fund aka mortgage assistance
[771]
now as part of the american rescue plan
[772]
stimulus relief bill 10 billion dollars
[774]
was included in the homeowners
[776]
assistance fund
[777]
providing money to homeowners and
[778]
assistance with mortgage payments
[780]
in order to prevent delinquencies
[782]
foreclosures and late payments on
[784]
utilities
[785]
among other things but here's the
[786]
qualifications experience of financial
[788]
hardship after january
[790]
21st 2020 of course who hasn't right
[793]
income equal to less than 150
[796]
of the area median income proof of the
[799]
nature of the financial hardship like a
[801]
job loss or reduction in
[802]
income maybe health care costs etc hold
[805]
a mortgage balance of less than 548
[808]
250 as of 2021. to apply for funds
[812]
just visit your state's housing agency
[814]
website and let me know how it goes
[815]
now for those who are renting bad news
[818]
eviction protections ending
[819]
in some states but the good news it'll
[821]
still extend beyond june in some
[823]
locations and
[824]
best news we have the latest lowdown on
[827]
rental assistance programs
[828]
including how you can bypass that
[830]
mountain of paperwork that they're
[831]
requiring
[832]
interested just keep watching with
[834]
millions of americans that are so behind
[835]
on their rent some states and cities
[837]
will continue to ban evictions
[839]
even after the national moratoriums
[841]
expire kenmore washington
[843]
renters can't be evicted until october
[845]
new york extended its eviction ban until
[848]
september
[848]
vermont most evictions are barred until
[851]
30 days after its state of emergency
[853]
concludes
[854]
which means that as of now struggling
[856]
renters are safe
[857]
until at least the middle of july new
[859]
jersey safe until august
[860]
oregon renters cannot be evicted for
[862]
rent owed between the months of april
[864]
2020 and june 2021
[866]
and they have until the end of february
[868]
2022 to make up the payments
[870]
city of austin and surrounding travis
[872]
county in texas
[873]
will prohibit evictions from resuming
[876]
until august
[877]
there are also additional rights for
[878]
those of you who have applied for
[880]
federal rental assistance just ask the
[882]
program you applied to to find out in at
[884]
least 28 states programs that give out
[886]
these funds
[887]
bar landlords from evicting tenants for
[889]
at least the period that they received
[891]
assistance for
[892]
and in some cases between 30 and 90 days
[894]
after that minnesota
[896]
lawmakers just struck a deal prohibiting
[899]
the eviction of
[899]
any renters who are in the process of
[902]
applying for rental assistance
[903]
that protection will last for 12 months
[905]
until june 2022. nevada
[908]
tenants can't be forced out if their
[910]
rental assistance application
[912]
is pending or if their landlord refuses
[914]
to accept the aid for the latest list of
[916]
emergency rental assistance programs you
[918]
have two options you can go to the
[920]
treasury department or
[921]
the national low income housing
[922]
coalition both of them have updated
[924]
their list of all the rental assistance
[926]
programs
[926]
on their websites the words to search
[928]
for on google are treasury e-r-a-p
[931]
for the treasury department website and
[933]
e-r-a
[934]
dashboard for the nlihc website both are
[937]
good and very easy to find so you
[939]
shouldn't have any problems with those
[940]
now if your problem is the mountain of
[941]
paperwork in these programs i want you
[943]
guys to know that you're not alone the
[945]
latest data has shown that many states
[947]
have given out
[948]
just under five percent of their rental
[949]
assistance money and that's good to know
[951]
if you're still planning on applying but
[952]
not so much if you're already waiting
[954]
for your money a big cause of the hold
[956]
up for the program
[957]
is really the paperwork according to one
[959]
insider the federal funds
[961]
require significant documentation from
[963]
both the tenant and the landlord so how
[965]
do you get past that if you're lacking
[966]
some of the documents right the magic
[968]
word is self-attestation say with me
[970]
guys
[971]
self-attestation the us department of
[973]
treasury has issued guidance
[975]
saying that programs should take
[976]
struggling tenants at their word if they
[978]
say they can't offer a certain document
[981]
unfortunately not all programs make the
[983]
self attestation clear
[984]
for the applicant so you have to know
[986]
about it check out the nlihc
[988]
the era dashboard to find out about the
[991]
202
[992]
programs that allow self attestation
[994]
that means that they can take your word
[995]
in place of a document for the following
[997]
code with hardships
[998]
income non-traditional income housing
[1001]
instability
[1002]
lease or proof of tenancy so i really
