Hi I'm Bill with Phoenix house and we're a family聽

and together we run Phoenix Haus day-to-day we聽
focus on healthy housing and for us that means聽聽

we prefabricate homes off-site in this facility聽
yeah so we're doing right now right around two聽聽
[23]
projects a month so it's about 24 houses a year聽
at the moment and we're scaling up from there聽聽

as well so we'd look to do more in 2021 and聽
beyond so H19 was installed within four days聽聽

within a week we were dried and out of the weather聽
so they're a nice fast install the H stands for聽聽
[38]
'Homestead' and the 19 stands for 1,900 square聽
feet so Homestead is just the name that we give聽聽
[45]
the design platforms and it represents those聽
values and those values are: health, wealth,聽聽
[50]
and wholeness so it's something that's designed to聽
for the lifetime of that house to, you know, feature聽聽

those elements for that family whoever lives there聽

we got high cost land it's expensive to build if we

can introduce an idea for the customers that聽
we our main customer can look at stay a night聽聽

and experience I think that they get an opinion聽
that: well there's may be different way to do that聽

I think how people live that's changing slowly聽
but it's still changing with younger people what聽聽

they're looking for either smaller units聽
and/or the fact that they don't necessarily want聽聽

to own something that they want to travel and聽
experience different places and so if they can聽聽

rent a really nice living space and be around聽
like-minded young people yeah I think聽聽

that's really exciting for them it starts off at聽
H10 and it goes to H30 a couple different聽聽

sizes thousand to about three thousand square聽
feet and that's for the pre-designed plans but聽聽

we do also custom builds mm-hmm and those are聽
really easily adjustable as well but they're a聽聽
[110]
great starting point because a lot of folks just聽
don't know where to start so if we can show them聽聽
[115]
just a handful of different plans that helps get聽
back to and keeps the design cost low which is聽聽

really important the straight line shop so it's聽
raw material in and it's finished panels back at聽聽

the back if we have the eight workstations it's聽
taking us roughly about an hour hour and a half聽聽

to make a panel roughly a house is about 30 or 40聽
panels depending on the size the project over the聽聽

course of a month will make that house here a聽
bigger you know two thousand square foot house聽聽

it's called the Alpha System yeah we give it a聽
name it's nice to describe it, it represents

you know it's at a leader in its industry in the sense聽
of you know performance and R-value and these things聽聽

and this year we are starting to offer something聽
called Alpha Light which is a variant in a more聽聽
[163]
temperate climate place from it's quite a bit聽
of years of prototyping and trial and error and聽聽

science and modeling that went into that system聽
yeah it features an interior airtight vapor聽

control layer we use the VANA tapes to seal聽
up the inside that's happening in the production聽聽

shop and on-site once the seams are put together聽
if we go inside to out the next layer is a two聽聽

by dimensional framed wall and our choice is a聽
dense packed cellulose in the cavity and then聽聽

outside of that we like a fiber board exterior聽
insulation it's got a decent perm rating on it聽聽

and wrapped on top of that it's the MENTO product聽
the MENTO 1000 and we do that same build up inside聽聽

to out on the roof as well on the inside it's聽
still that interior airtight layer with the聽聽
[214]
VANA tapes and then sealing up the exterior聽
with the MENTO 3000 on the roof side outside of both聽聽

the roof and the wall is a fir chase to attach聽
the roofing and what-have-you and it creates a聽聽

nice air gap and so space for that assembly to聽
be diffusion open we'd like that a lot we pick聽聽

specifically those materials from 475 to really聽
feature a knock out system there's quite a few聽聽

interior and exterior focused tapes that we聽
work to make sure that there's at least two聽聽

or three seals on the window to the rough opening聽
we like to use the gaskets too it takes you know聽聽

the gap between the RO and the unit size and聽
we have the interior it's a split release tape聽聽

and today everyone comment how nice and sealed聽
everything was we really -

mm hm the SOLIDO EXO, I believe and then the FIDEN EXO gasket

we're pre-installing triple-glazed windows and doors so聽
we can actually pre-install all the windows and聽聽

the doors for the H models we like Alpen makes聽
a nice PVC window we have a wood aluminum clad聽聽

upgrade as well people like to have a wood聽
interior look yeah so we pre-install those聽聽

to save time it's the focus on healthy housing is聽
a big driver for a lot of our customers that we聽聽

don't use bad materials and we really like using聽
the healthy material like through foursevenfive.com I would also聽聽

say that I hear a lot of feedback from folks聽
is that we can do a lot of custom designs so聽聽

modulars are great but sometimes you're limited聽
on like to say scale or volumes you can build with聽聽

today's tour of H19 we can create a nice roof聽
structure and make it look really nice so that聽聽

the custom element to the construction process聽
is really nice yeah it saves about an average聽聽

two to three months of construction time on site I聽
would say a big thing that we pride ourselves upon聽聽

is continuous improvement we're always finding聽
ways to do it better so always take feedback聽聽

from the workshop or the jobsite and improve聽
the system so it's continuously being improved聽聽

and the way we planned quality is actually in a聽
process called at work order it's every time we聽聽

do work in the shop we make sure that we follow聽
a sequence so that the sequence when followed聽

result in a really good built product you don't聽- same time, every time - don't have to double check it yeah聽聽

it's just if you build in this order you'll hit聽
quality our mission is a lifetime of healthiness聽聽

so we have strong opinions on how we want to go聽
vertical with construction to show people and聽聽

offer people an option to live healthy and the聽
secret mission really is just making sure that聽聽

we offer options for families to build their own聽
house in a healthy way and that we're gonna come聽聽

up with some great options in the future where聽
we can actually have that hosted as a company聽聽

offered solution - and how they actually live in聽that space

yeah and we'd love to you know I really think that it's not just the United States-based solution

I think this grows around the world so we'll just see where that limit is

I don't think聽there is one really where this can grow in scale
