Channel: Mark Tilbury
[0]
hi guys it's mark so student debt has
[2]
increased by a whopping 91 percent in
[5]
the past decade leading to americans
[7]
owing a record-breaking
[9]
1.73 trillion dollars therefore today
[12]
we're going to talk about 10 alternative
[14]
high-paid jobs that don't require a
[16]
college degree so that we can finally
[18]
answer the question if going to
[20]
university is all that it's stacked up
[21]
to be especially when you can just
[23]
become a friend of mr beast and be paid
[25]
thousands for it if you're watching
[27]
jimmy give me a call but seriously in my
[29]
opinion these jobs definitely have the
[31]
potential to make you a millionaire if
[33]
you invest your money wisely and
[34]
correctly along the way anything is
[36]
possible to be honest with you i wasn't
[38]
very good at school which caused me to
[40]
leave at 16 with no qualifications but i
[43]
didn't let that stop me from becoming a
[45]
millionaire so if i can do it i'm sure
[48]
that you can maybe you're deciding
[50]
whether you want to go to college or
[51]
maybe you're just interested in
[53]
different job options out there either
[55]
way by watching this video to the end
[57]
you may find a new path you want to walk
[59]
down a small but very important job that
[61]
often goes unnoticed is all those people
[63]
that smash that like button for the
[65]
ltube eugerithm you certainly don't need
[67]
a college degree to do that and even if
[69]
you do have one smash it anyway right
[72]
all done let's jump into it number one a
[74]
skilled tradesperson once you have a
[77]
trade no one can take this away from you
[79]
this includes everything from plumbers
[81]
and electricians to carpenters and even
[83]
elevator mechanics these skills are in
[85]
really high demand and can justify wages
[88]
up to sixty eight thousand dollars a
[90]
year this is also growing each year as
[92]
the number of skilled jobs is far
[94]
outpacing the supply of workers this
[96]
could be due to more people choosing to
[98]
go down the university route and not
[100]
learn in a trade it's even estimated
[102]
that by 2008 there will be three million
[105]
job vacancies in the skilled trades this
[107]
is an amazing opportunity but it's also
[110]
pretty scary thought as well because
[112]
these jobs are a crucial part of our
[114]
society i mean i'm pretty good with my
[116]
hands but i don't ever mess with the
[118]
plumbing or the electrics most trades
[120]
can be learned on the job without the
[122]
need for higher education which is great
[125]
as you can get right into making some
[127]
money at the same time as making
[128]
yourself more valuable when i left
[130]
school this is exactly what i did i got
[133]
an apprenticeship and i learned how to
[135]
become a carpenter i've never regretted
[137]
this decision as i've used this skill
[139]
throughout my life and i knew i had
[141]
something to fall back on if i needed it
[143]
some people look down on trades people
[145]
but get this if you compare a doctor's
[148]
wealth to a plumber's then it reportedly
[150]
takes the doctor until 41 years old to
[153]
catch up this is because of the time the
[155]
doctor spends studying and building up
[157]
student debt number two an air traffic
[160]
controller imagine sitting at this
[162]
really cool desk earning up to a hundred
[164]
and twenty two thousand dollars a year
[166]
are you interested because i'm
[168]
definitely jealous of that view air
[170]
traffic controllers are responsible for
[171]
directing the safe movement of aircraft
[173]
arriving and departing from an airport
[176]
in order to prevent collisions it's a
[178]
bit like the conductor of an orchestra
[180]
of metal birds they're crucial to the
[182]
running of an airport to keep hundreds
[184]
of passengers safe although you can make
[187]
good money as an air traffic controller
[189]
it can be very stressful especially when
[191]
you have to deal with people like me i
[193]
actually got in trouble with air traffic
[195]
control once when i was flying a small
[197]
airplane from a place called biggin hill
[199]
to shawroom airport unfortunately i left
[202]
a little bit late and i called up
[203]
shoreham and it turns out they'd already
[205]
closed the airport on top of that it was
[208]
getting dark and it was illegal for me
[210]
to fly at night being the maverick that
[212]
i was i decided to land anyway because i
[214]
had no other options and this caused the
[216]
air traffic controller a great deal of
[218]
stress he even called me up to the tower
[221]
to reprimand me and inform me he had to
[222]
fill out loads of forms for an out of
[224]
hours landing and that i would hear from
[227]
the authorities i guess he was a nice
[229]
guy because i never heard any more about
[231]
it but i was sure never to be late again
[233]
so if you think you could handle
[234]
situations like that then the good news
[236]
is air traffic controlling is projected
[239]
to grow three percent through 2026 so
[242]
there are plenty of new opportunities
[244]
popping up but as you've probably
[245]
guessed they're not going to let you
[247]
control hundreds of planes without any
[249]
training luckily you rarely require any
[251]
sort of university degree in fact most
[254]
air traffic controllers can do
[255]
on-the-job training after completing
[258]
high school number three becoming an
[260]
influencer did you know that more kids
[262]
now dream of becoming a professional
[263]
youtuber rather than becoming an
[265]
astronaut according to a recent study i
[268]
hardly find it surprising as they see
[270]
their favorite influence as having the
[272]
time of their lives while making
[273]
millions per year it's easy to dismiss
[276]
this one as a dream or not a real job
[278]
and that's what a lot of people my age
[280]
do but i think this is a really
[282]
interesting industry the amount
[284]
companies spend on influencers in the us
[286]
alone is going to surpass 3 billion
[289]
which is a growth of more than 30
[291]
percent from last year this means that
[293]
with more money being pumped into the
[295]
industry there'll be a lot of space for
[297]
new influencers i mean if a boomer like
[299]
me could start tick-tock as a bit of fun
[301]
during the pandemic and rack up nearly 7
[304]
million followers then doesn't that just
[306]
prove it i've now even started two more
[308]
youtube channels which are my new second
[310]
channel where i post quick finance and
[312]
business tips as well as my podcast
[314]
channel with my son where we discuss all
[317]
things business and investing from an
[318]
old and young perspective at the end of
[321]
the day influencers offer something that
[323]
tv just can't compete with real
[325]
authentic content which therefore means
[327]
you don't need expensive equipment or a
[330]
university degree to get stuck in number
[332]
four is a radiographer how does flooding
[334]
people with radiation and earning up to
[337]
69 000 a year sound to you you just have
[340]
to be careful not to turn anyone into
[341]
the hulk radiographers also known as
[344]
radiologic technologists perform x-rays
[347]
ct scans mris and other forms of medical
[350]
imaging to help diagnose illnesses and
[352]
conditions this is commonly confused
[354]
with radiology however radiographers do
[357]
not interpret the results or make a
[360]
diagnosis blimey that was a mouthful if
[362]
you've ever had a passion for helping
[364]
people and want to go into something
[366]
medical related then a radiographer is
[368]
one of the highest paying jobs that
[370]
doesn't require a degree actually my
[373]
sister trained as one in the uk and that
[375]
skill allowed her to emigrate to
[377]
australia where that job is in high
[379]
demand and she is earning a massive
[381]
salary good day karen if you're watching
[383]
this throw another shrimp on the barbie
[385]
the demand for radio aquifers is set to
[387]
remain strong due to a very large aging
[389]
population in need of imaging to
[391]
diagnose and treat medical conditions
[394]
what are you looking at i'm only 25 well
[396]
i feel 25. it's easy enough to get
[399]
started after completing a two-year
[401]
job-focused course while i admit this
[403]
does take a little bit of training it
[405]
isn't nearly as time-consuming as a
[407]
college degree and it's a lot less
[409]
expensive too number five an executive
[411]
assistant it can be extremely fun being
[414]
the right-hand person of a business
[415]
leader you're both striving towards a
[417]
shared mission and you can earn up to a
[420]
very respectable 68 000 a year working
[423]
your way up to being an executive
[425]
assistant can be very rewarding as it
[427]
means doing different jobs almost every
[430]
single day my assistant does everything
[432]
from organizing my schedule to helping
[434]
me with strategic planning by working at
[436]
this level in a company you're also
[438]
surrounded by lots of people who are
[440]
wealthier than you this automatically
[442]
means you'll start leveling up and find
[444]
ways to earn even more i have often seen
[446]
assistants go on to become ceos of their
[449]
own businesses as they learn so much
[451]
under the wing of a successful person so
[453]
it's not all about the money you're
[455]
earning it's also about the knowledge
[457]
and the connections my assistant
[459]
responded to a post i made on instagram
[461]
and performed really well in his
[463]
interview he doesn't have a university
[465]
degree but that really doesn't matter to
[467]
me he came across as driven dedicated
[470]
and very business savvy i have nothing
[473]
against university but sometimes i feel
[475]
like it can knock the spark out of
[477]
people if you're never told what you
[478]
can't do then you seem to have less
[481]
limits on your potential so based on my
[483]
own experience of hiring an assistant i
[485]
would say the best thing you can do is
[487]
follow the leaders of businesses that
[489]
you're interested in working for on
[490]
social media whenever one of them posts
[492]
about a job opening you can be one of
[494]
the first to throw your hat in the ring
[497]
and that's exactly what kai did and it
[499]
worked out very well even if he can't
[501]
make a decent cup of coffee number six a
[503]
construction site manager the demand for
[506]
construction managers will reportedly
[508]
grow eight percent by 2029 which is much
[511]
faster than the four percent projected
[513]
growth in all other occupations you can
[515]
expect to earn an annual wage of between
[517]
fifty thousand dollars and a hundred and
[519]
twenty six thousand dollars a site
[521]
manager within the construction industry
[523]
is responsible for overseeing operations
[526]
of the whole site on a day-to-day basis
[529]
and making sure a project comes in on
[530]
time and on budget and as many of you
[533]
know i'm building out my north wing at
[534]
the moment and phil's my project manager
[537]
what are you doing
[539]
i certainly am he only bothers me about
[541]
30 times a day to be a site manager you
[544]
need to be good at problem solving have
[546]
strong communication skills and have an
[549]
extensive knowledge of the construction
[551]
process if you don't have a degree then
[553]
you can eventually move into a site
[555]
manager role after gaining experience
[557]
working in the construction industry
[559]
over a number of years number seven an
[561]
artist like videographers editors and
[563]
writers back when i was younger artists
[566]
always used to be broke but now with the
[568]
explosion of the internet i am
[569]
desperately looking for people that can
[571]
tell stories about my products to
[573]
increase the sales the new generation is
[576]
highly visual and we need artists to
[578]
connect and sell products to them which
[581]
makes their skills extremely valuable
[583]
the earning potential with this is truly
[585]
unlimited it's just all depends on your
[588]
ability to drive clicks and sales my son
[590]
curtis started specializing in
[592]
videography editing and content writing
[595]
four years later he's earning more than
[597]
two hundred thousand dollars a year and
[599]
doing the job he loves the beauty of
[601]
this career is that a university degree
[603]
is nothing compared with real world
[605]
results and experience when i spend
[606]
money on my business i want to be sure
[608]
that i'm going to get a good return and
[610]
if i have to pick between someone with a
[612]
degree and someone with experience and
[615]
some results then i would always pick
[617]
the latter you will of course need to
[618]
invest a lot of time into learning these
[620]
skills but luckily they can all be
[622]
self-taught using books and the internet
[624]
so i'm here with curtis so what's one
[626]
tip you can help the viewers that's
[628]
helped you in your career um i'll
[630]
definitely say free to feed so i started
[632]
off doing a ton of free videos and then
[634]
i started to charge for them gradually
[636]
and it got me in the door got me um
[638]
building connections and then i could
[639]
expand my business from there so free to
[641]
feed is the way number eight an
[643]
insurance claims adjuster these people
[645]
own tiny devices that allow them to
[648]
access people's memories and check if
[649]
they're lying or not about their
[651]
insurance claims oh hang on i think i'm
[654]
getting that confused with a black
[656]
mirror episode to be honest though i
[658]
wouldn't be surprised if they started
[660]
doing this in the future in all
[662]
seriousness the top ten percent of
[664]
insurance claim investigators earn over
[666]
a hundred thousand dollars a year and
[668]
the lowest ten percent of adjusters earn
[670]
just over forty thousand dollars a year
[672]
they're a bit like sherlock holmes as
[674]
they have to gather up loads of
[676]
information and details to work out what
[678]
happened in the incident and find a fair
[680]
settlement price their job performance
[683]
is evaluated based on how many claims
[685]
they can successfully handle without
[687]
involving supervisors or corporate
[689]
lawyers so it's highly suited for
[691]
competitive people all that's required
[693]
for this job is a high school diploma
[695]
this is because of the nature of the job
[697]
analytical and critical thinking skills
[699]
are essential qualities for these
[701]
individuals number nine is a
[703]
professional gaming athlete being paid
[705]
good money to play computer games
[707]
competitively sounds like a dream come
[709]
true the average professional gamer
[711]
earns 60 000 per year and if you're
[714]
really good you can actually earn
[716]
millions this is really crazy to me
[718]
because when i was younger i used to
[719]
have to go down the arcade when i wanted
[721]
to play games but it does make sense as
[723]
whenever there is a lot of attention on
[725]
something then people are going to
[727]
naturally want to see the best of the
[729]
best go head to head gamers make their
[731]
money in a few different ways such as
[733]
tournament prizes salaries from being in
[736]
a team bonuses for doing well sponsors
[738]
and of course live streaming being a
[741]
professional gamer is not an easy career
[743]
to take on it requires thousands of
[745]
hours of gaming experience just like any
[748]
elite level sport so although the top
[749]
professional players own millions each
[751]
year the harsh truth is only a few
[754]
people enjoy that kind of salary i'm not
[756]
saying this to discourage you in any way
[758]
because if you put your mind to it and
[760]
train every day then i'm sure it's
[762]
achievable number 10 is a high-ticket
[765]
commission salesperson imagine selling a
[767]
product for more than 200 000 and
[770]
getting a sweet six percent commission
[773]
that's a twelve thousand dollar payday
[775]
high ticket items are high priced
[777]
products or services these items can
[779]
include expensive products like cars
[781]
jewelries houses even services like
[784]
coaching webinars and training many
[787]
high-ticket sales people choose to work
[789]
on a commission basis selling other
[791]
people's products or services to a list
[793]
of potential clients who have already
[795]
shown interest this means that once you
[797]
learn how to sell essentially your
[799]
income is unlimited one of the main
[802]
reasons i was able to become as
[803]
successful as i am is that i learned how
[806]
to sell from a very young age it's such
[808]
an important skill and if you learn it
[810]
then you'll never really struggle for
[812]
money it's also worth mentioning
[814]
accountancy financial advising and
[816]
computer programming are also great
[818]
career paths that do not require college
[821]
degrees and you can earn some sweet bank
[823]
so choosing if you should go to college
[825]
is a big decision and it's highly
[827]
dependent on what you decide to study if
[829]
the job that you wish to pursue requires
[831]
a degree then i would agree that college
[834]
is definitely worth it as you have a
[836]
clear return on investment but if you
[838]
choose to study a course with no real
[840]
aim then this might be a very expensive
[842]
mistake with more people than ever
[844]
before going to university it's becoming
[847]
a huge business and degrees are holding
[849]
less and less value i like to call it
[851]
degree inflation by investing wisely
[853]
along the way all the jobs mentioned in
[855]
this video have the potential to make
[857]
you a millionaire without stepping foot
[859]
in any university so if you like me and
[861]
school really wasn't for you then it's
[863]
not the end of the world there are
[865]
plenty of options out there it's all
[867]
about doing what you want to do and not
[870]
letting society's expectations shape
[872]
your future so i'm going to leave the
[874]
next video right up there but don't
[875]
click on it just yet make sure to
[877]
subscribe if you want to grow your
[878]
wealth and don't forget to pick up the
[880]
free stocks and bitcoin with the links
[882]
below okay i'll see you over there
