[8]
Hello and welcome to another video. I'm going
[12]
to start off by asking you a couple of questions.
[16]
Firstly, have you ever heard of a speed limiter?
[20]
if so, have you ever used one? Basically, a speed limiter is a device
[27]
that's fitted to most vehicles these days and
[31]
it prevents the driver from going over a set speed. If you set it to 50 miles
[38]
an hour, it will not allow you to drive it over
[41]
50 miles per hour. However, it can be easily overridden
[47]
and one of the main problems with the speed limiter
[51]
is that the speed is constantly changing, the speed of the road
[54]
is constantly changing. Drivers, if they want to use it have to
[59]
constantly keep on adjusting the speed limiter. Therefore, not many
[64]
people use them. However,
[69]
now we have the invention of the intelligent
[72]
speed assist. This uses a GPS signal to track the speed of your vehicle and
[79]
it is proven to work. There are three types of intelligent
[85]
speed assist, In other words ISA.
[90]
Firstly you have the advisable ISA. The advisable ISA
[98]
will allow you to go over the speed limit,
[101]
but as soon as you go over the speed, it will warn you either visually
[108]
or audibly or even both. If you're on a 30 mile an hour road,
[114]
as soon as you go to 31, it'll warn you that you're going over 30
[118]
miles an hour. If you're on a 40 mile an hour road
[122]
it'll warn you that you're going over 40.
[125]
If you're on a 60 mile an hour road, it'll warn you
[128]
when you go over 60 miles per hour. Brilliant, fantastic idea!
[135]
We also have voluntary ISA. The voluntary ISA will
[144]
not allow the driver to go over the speed limit.
[149]
However, it can be overridden by the driver,
[153]
by simply switching it off. If you've got voluntary ISA fitted to
[160]
your vehicle and you're on a 30 mile an hour road,
[164]
there is no way that you can go over 30 miles an hour,
[168]
You will never get done for speeding. As soon as the
[172]
speed limit changes, So if you're on a 30 mile an hour road
[175]
you can't go over 30, but if the speed changes to 50, then all
[179]
of a sudden, you can accelerate to 50. When the speed
[183]
drops let's say to 40 miles an hour,
[187]
If you don't brake, the accelerator will automatically stop
[191]
working, lose power and your speed will gradually
[195]
fall to the speed limit of the road. It will not break for you.
[202]
It won't impact the drivers behind you, all of a sudden.
[206]
The slowing down will be progressive. That is the voluntary ISA.
[213]
It stops you from going over the speed limit, but it can be
[217]
overridden by the driver by a flick of a switch. Then we have the mandatory
[226]
ISA. This cannot be overridden by the driver.
[232]
If you're in a car fitted with this mandatory ISA,
[237]
You can never ever go over the speed limit,
[240]
no matter what the circumstances. Now the news I've got for you
[248]
is that from 2022, the EU has decided to make it compulsory
[256]
mandatory for all manufacturers to have mandatory ISA
[262]
fitted to their vehicles, so drivers will not
[266]
be able to go over the speed limit under any circumstances.
[270]
Even though we have left the EU through Brexit, the UK government
[277]
has decided to follow the guidelines of the EU
[281]
and this will be fitted to all vehicles even in the UK. A poll is coming up on the
[289]
screen. I would like you to vote whether you
[292]
think the ISA is a good or a bad idea.
[298]
I'm going to give you a week to vote and then next week i'll be uploading a
[304]
video regarding what you guys think about
[308]
the compulsory ISA. I hope you found this video to be
[313]
informative. If so, please, as usual, give the thumbs up,
[318]
as you all know by now, thumbs up helps us to make
[322]
more videos. Thank you for watching!! Take care of your selves.
[326]
bye
