7 Best High Paying Jobs 2022: No College Required! - YouTube

Channel: unknown

[0]
so in this video today we are going to
[1]
be talking about what are the best
[3]
possible jobs to get out there that do
[6]
not require a college education
[8]
this is typically a video I do here once
[11]
a year on my channel and it's usually a
[12]
pretty popular one and the reason why I
[15]
like to do this video is because most
[17]
people out there believe you need to get
[19]
a college education in order to get a
[22]
high paying job and while that is true
[24]
in many cases it's just not true in all
[27]
cases and so I think if you're somebody
[29]
out there who has decided that you know
[31]
maybe college just isn't for you or you
[33]
just don't want to go into debt with a
[35]
college education these are jobs that
[38]
you may want to consider alright so
[39]
coming in at number one on my list is
[41]
getting involved with skilled trades now
[44]
this is a field that has been frowned
[46]
upon for many years but honestly guys
[49]
there is so much money to be made if you
[51]
are interested in being a tradesman so
[54]
what exactly does this entail well this
[56]
could be you know being a plumber for
[58]
example or a carpenter or a Mason and a
[60]
lot of people say oh you know do these
[62]
guys make a lot of money the truth is if
[64]
you are a Union tradesman the amount of
[67]
money that you can make is unbelievable
[69]
and these jobs often have excellent
[71]
benefits and retirement options as well
[74]
so most of these skilled trades are
[76]
going to be Union jobs for example I was
[79]
actually a union utility worker before I
[81]
you know jumped into my career as a
[83]
youtuber here and we were in the IBEW
[86]
which is the International Brotherhood
[88]
of Electrical Workers and I was part of
[91]
local 236 so we were in a union and that
[94]
gave us additional protection and we
[97]
were paid a good amount of money based
[99]
on what we were doing and you do not
[101]
need a college education in order to get
[104]
an apprenticeship with one of these
[105]
unions all you're going to do is figure
[108]
out what your local unions are for
[110]
electrical workers or plumbers or pipe
[112]
fitters or whatever it may be and then
[114]
you're going to look for apprenticeship
[116]
opportunities so for example let's look
[119]
at the electrical apprenticeship with
[120]
the IBEW that is going to be a five year
[123]
apprenticeship and during those five
[125]
years you are getting paid and you are
[128]
working and then you just take classes
[130]
at night so after five years of that
[132]
apprenticeship you will be
[134]
a journeyman electrician now not only
[136]
that during those five years you were
[137]
actually making money while learning
[140]
this trade for free you don't pay any
[142]
money in order to learn this skill
[144]
through an apprenticeship now just how
[146]
much money can you make as a journeyman
[147]
electrician for example
[149]
well according to indeed the average pay
[152]
for a journeyman electrician is now
[153]
twenty seven eighty three per hour not
[156]
to mention as I said earlier the
[158]
benefits for these jobs are usually
[160]
phenomenal which includes you know
[162]
healthcare retirement and all of that
[164]
good stuff now the only downside you are
[166]
going to work your butt off these are
[168]
hard jobs where you're doing manual
[170]
labor day in and day out so it's not for
[173]
everyone but if you are looking to make
[175]
good money and not get into debt with a
[178]
college education this is a great area
[180]
to consider and if you're looking to
[182]
find opportunities what you're going to
[184]
do is type in to Google apprenticeship
[187]
opportunities in your state so for me it
[190]
would be New York or you could look for
[192]
a local union and stop in or give them a
[194]
call
[194]
and ask them you know what is the
[196]
process for getting an apprenticeship
[198]
all right guys so coming in at number
[200]
two on my list is getting a job in sales
[202]
most of the time you do not need any
[205]
college education for this type of a job
[206]
because usually being a good salesperson
[209]
is just a natural-born ability now there
[212]
are some things you can do to improve
[214]
your sales ability but a lot of the
[216]
times guys being a good salesperson just
[218]
comes down to your natural ability of
[220]
being an outgoing person being
[223]
charismatic and empathetic now most
[226]
people get started in sales by getting
[228]
involved in car sales or even maybe
[230]
phone sales for some of the major
[232]
carriers out there like AT&T and Verizon
[235]
and oftentimes there's on-the-job
[237]
training where they will teach you you
[239]
know the basics of what you need to know
[240]
and show you how to be a good
[242]
salesperson and what you will find with
[245]
most of these jobs is they are a
[246]
commission based sales environment so
[249]
what that means is that if you're doing
[251]
a good job and you're selling a lot of
[253]
the product you're making more money now
[255]
some people thrive in a commission based
[257]
environment and other people just
[259]
flounder because it's not for them and
[261]
they're not good at being self-motivated
[263]
but there's a lot of people out there in
[265]
sales with no college education
[267]
taking well over six figures per year
[270]
now the one downside to this job is that
[272]
you often have to work long hours or you
[275]
have to work weird hours so for example
[277]
I was talking to a car salesman once and
[279]
he told me he was making you know some
[282]
months fifteen twenty thousand dollars
[284]
per month but he also told me that he
[286]
basically lives at his job and works 60
[289]
to 70 hours per week
[290]
now if you're somebody who loves to work
[292]
and you don't mind that type of
[294]
environment that could be a perfect fit
[296]
for you or if you're involved in some
[298]
kind of retail sales like phone sales
[301]
for example you may find that you're
[303]
working when other people are not
[305]
because that's when they're shopping so
[307]
you may find you're working nights and
[309]
weekends rather than working your
[310]
traditional nine-to-five type job so if
[313]
that's a deal-breaker for you
[314]
maybe this type of sales isn't for you
[317]
business to business type sales may be a
[319]
more consistent schedule but honestly
[322]
guys getting into sales is one of the
[324]
best opportunities out there that
[326]
typically does not require any college
[328]
education alright so number three on my
[330]
list here is another one that usually
[332]
makes the list every single year and
[334]
that is getting a job as a correctional
[337]
officer so a correctional officer is in
[339]
charge of the security of prison
[341]
facilities so as I'm sure you can
[343]
imagine this isn't going to be the most
[345]
glamorous job out there it's likely
[348]
going to be dangerous and
[349]
confrontational but if you are up for
[352]
the challenge this is a field that does
[354]
pay a good amount that does not require
[356]
a college education part of your job
[359]
here is going to be preventing prison
[361]
escapes breaking up riots and then also
[364]
searching inmate cells for contraband so
[367]
again this is not a job I would be very
[369]
good at most people would probably say I
[371]
don't want to do this but if you are
[372]
somebody who says you know what I'm up
[374]
for the challenge it does pay very well
[376]
according to salary.com the salary range
[379]
for a correctional officer is about
[382]
forty thousand to fifty one thousand
[384]
dollars per year but if you do already
[386]
have a college degree you may start out
[388]
at a higher base pay based on whatever
[391]
college education that you have now you
[393]
do have a couple of options here you
[395]
could work for a private prison or if
[397]
you want to work for the public sector
[399]
you're going to have to take the correct
[401]
officer exam to work for a public prison
[404]
so if you are interested in pursuing
[406]
this field all you have to do to look
[409]
for employment opportunities is Google
[411]
correctional officer exam in your state
[413]
so for me it would be correctional
[415]
officer exam in New York and that will
[418]
show you what the process is for finding
[420]
and taking this exam all right guys so
[423]
number four on the list is going to be
[424]
very similar to number three and that is
[427]
to be a police officer now in order to
[429]
become a cop or a police officer you
[432]
don't actually have to get a college
[434]
education the criminal justice degree
[436]
could help you
[437]
get a higher paying job or have priority
[440]
over a different candidate but it's not
[442]
a prerequisite because instead of going
[445]
to a traditional college you are instead
[447]
going to go to a state or local police
[449]
academy in order to get your
[452]
certification and your education to be a
[454]
cop now according to payscale.com the
[457]
average police officer is now making
[459]
about 51 thousand dollars per year and
[462]
if you are interested in getting a job
[464]
in this field you are going to have to
[466]
complete a police exam so if you're
[469]
interested in this what you're going to
[470]
do is go into google and type in your
[472]
state followed by police exam and you
[475]
can learn about the process for taking
[477]
that exam
[478]
all right so number five on my list here
[480]
is my old job which as I said earlier
[482]
was being a utility worker and this
[485]
basically means working for the power
[487]
utility in your area and I'm gonna put
[490]
this in a different category than
[491]
skilled trades because it is totally
[493]
different in terms of the work that you
[495]
are doing so the entry-level jobs
[497]
working for a power utility are
[499]
oftentimes collections or being a
[502]
flagger so that's how I got started was
[504]
getting into collections which meant I
[506]
went door-to-door and I collected money
[508]
for the power utility because most
[511]
people do pay their bills on time but a
[513]
certain percentage of people do not and
[515]
after a time period goes by you have to
[518]
go to the door ask for payment and if
[520]
they're unable to pay their bill you
[522]
have to turn off the power or the gas to
[524]
that building so is this a glamorous job
[527]
absolutely not
[529]
it is confrontational at times it may be
[531]
dangerous but it's a way to get your
[533]
foot in the door and the other job that
[535]
often goes to the street as a job as a
[537]
flagger and essentially what that means
[539]
is that while the line crews or the gas
[541]
crews are working in the roads you're
[544]
gonna be in the road directing traffic
[545]
as a flagger so you'll be standing on
[548]
your feet five or six hours a day
[549]
directing traffic again not the most
[552]
glamorous job but it's how you get your
[554]
foot in the door with these companies so
[557]
oftentimes what they'll do they'll put
[559]
those jobs out to the street as
[560]
temporary employment and then once that
[563]
job period ends where they need you for
[565]
they look to hire you as a full-time
[567]
employee and that is how I got hired for
[570]
my local power utility which is National
[573]
Grid now I had a two-year degree in
[575]
electrical construction and maintenance
[576]
which did help me get the job but you
[579]
don't have to have a college degree to
[580]
work there I was able to get one of my
[582]
friends a job there and he didn't have
[584]
any college degree however it did take
[587]
him about one year of applying for jobs
[589]
in order to get a job with this company
[591]
so it may take a long time but it's well
[594]
worth it if you can get in there back
[596]
when I got this job in 2015 my base pay
[600]
was twenty-seven dollars and 20 cents
[602]
per hour and now entry-level pay for
[605]
this company is above thirty dollars per
[607]
hour so especially if it's a union
[609]
utility you can make a lot of money with
[612]
these jobs so what you're gonna want to
[614]
do is take out your electrical bill look
[616]
at who your utility provider is type
[618]
that into Google followed by the word
[620]
careers and that will show you what job
[622]
opportunities are available and I would
[624]
recommend checking back every couple of
[626]
weeks and just consistently applying for
[629]
jobs at this utility all right guys so
[631]
number six on my list is getting a job
[633]
as a postal worker and it's funny
[636]
because Here I am making this video
[637]
today and this actually showed up in my
[639]
mailbox they're actually sending around
[642]
flyers looking for people for the Postal
[645]
Service so right on this flyer for
[647]
example it tells us the rural carrier
[649]
associate RCA $18 in nineteen cents per
[652]
hour does not require any college
[655]
education now a good time to look for
[657]
employment with UPS USPS FedEx is going
[661]
to be around the holiday season because
[662]
that is when there is the most demand on
[664]
the postal systems so they oftentimes
[667]
hire temporary employees for the
[669]
holidays
[669]
but again what you will often find is
[672]
that they will take the best employees
[674]
and oftentimes give them the opportunity
[676]
for full-time employment at the end of
[679]
the season now if you want to work for
[681]
the USPS since this is a public sector
[683]
job you have to complete something
[685]
called the 473 postal exam and there are
[689]
practice tests online and different
[691]
resources available but what you want to
[693]
do if you're looking for that job is
[694]
type in the 473 postal exam followed by
[698]
your state and that will give you more
[699]
information on that or if you're looking
[702]
for you know UPS FEDEX you would just go
[704]
on their website and look for the career
[706]
section UPS and FedEx may have their own
[709]
exam or process but it's different than
[711]
USPS because that's private sector in a
[714]
public sector job all right guys so the
[716]
last one on my list here number seven is
[718]
getting a job as a truck driver now
[721]
again is this the most glamorous job out
[724]
there some people would say yes and some
[726]
people would say no if you like being by
[728]
yourself and you don't mind the long
[730]
hours and traveling all the time you may
[732]
love the job as a truck driver but if
[734]
you want to settle down and have a
[735]
family it's probably not going to be the
[737]
field for you but because it is kind of
[740]
a demanding job with unique requirements
[742]
it does pay a good amount of money so
[744]
the first step to get a job as a truck
[746]
driver is you need your CDL or
[748]
commercial driver's license and before
[750]
you get that you need to get your permit
[752]
so what you're going to do is contact
[755]
your local DMV and ask them what the
[757]
process is to get a commercial driver's
[759]
permit then you're going to have to go
[761]
to truck drivers school and that is
[763]
where they're going to teach you how to
[765]
drive commercial vehicles so you can get
[767]
your CDL now truck driver school is
[770]
going to cost around three thousand to
[772]
seven thousand dollars on average
[774]
however once you have your CDL you can
[777]
apply for a variety of different jobs
[779]
out there and just to circle back to
[781]
number five here if you're looking to
[783]
get a job as a utility worker a lot of
[786]
those jobs do actually require a CDL so
[788]
it is a good license to have under your
[791]
belt and it can open you up to other job
[792]
opportunities out there so once you have
[795]
your CDL you're gonna want to check with
[797]
some of the big hauling companies out
[798]
there like Swift
[799]
Schneider and JB Hunt for different job
[802]
opportunities
[803]
now just how much can you make as a
[805]
truck driver well according to indeed
[807]
the average truck driver makes 1097
[811]
dollars per week which translates to
[813]
just about fifty-seven thousand dollars
[815]
per year with no college education all
[818]
you need to have is that truck driving
[820]
school in that CDL under your belt so
[823]
anyways guys that's gonna wrap out this
[825]
video those are seven jobs out there
[827]
that are high-paying that do not require
[828]
a college education if anybody is
[831]
currently working in any of these fields
[833]
drop me a comment down below let me know
[836]
what your experience is if you would
[837]
recommend that job to other people or if
[839]
you would not recommend it that kind of
[841]
feedback is always very beneficial but
[843]
thanks so much for watching this video
[845]
guys drop a like if you enjoyed and
[847]
subscribe if you haven't already and I
[849]
hope to see you in the next video
