What Are The Pros and Cons Of Being a Real Estate Agent? - YouTube
Channel: Bryan Casella
[4]
what's up everybody this is bc welcome
[7]
to another video now again by popular
[9]
demand I've gotten a lot of people who
[13]
have asked me to make a video
[14]
highlighting the pros and cons of real
[16]
estate I know I have a lot of seasoned
[17]
vets that follow me people who are newer
[19]
in the middle you know I'm getting a ton
[21]
of traffic from people who are not
[23]
related at all to the real estate
[25]
industry ok if you're a realtor watching
[27]
as you see the email and everything
[28]
clashing below make sure you follow me
[30]
on social media and if you have any
[32]
referrals for us
[33]
send them our way and we will
[34]
reciprocate by giving you some as well
[36]
as we're getting a ton now all right
[38]
what are the pros and cons of being a
[39]
realtor ok now I want to start with
[41]
first the cons because this is typically
[43]
what most people will can come across I
[46]
guess you can say first you will voice
[49]
to somebody hey I'm thinking about being
[50]
a real estate agent and the negativity
[52]
will just start pouring out or the doubt
[54]
or insecurities or whatever it is no
[56]
one's ever like oh yeah you want to be a
[57]
realtor go for it you'll be successful
[59]
everyone's like you get out of here
[62]
alright which is what I heard and it
[64]
made me laugh because look at me now
[65]
alright start with the cons number one a
[68]
lot of people and again it's the people
[72]
who never have done it or have failed
[73]
right you know never you're never gonna
[76]
hear something negative from somebody
[77]
who's done it and actually been on the
[79]
other side of success when it comes to
[81]
doing something entrepreneurial or real
[83]
estate yeah you will be doubted you will
[85]
be told all of the possibilities or
[88]
negative possibilities in particular
[90]
about being a realtor you're gonna be
[91]
told you can't do it you're too young
[93]
you're too old you've never done sales
[95]
you don't know in the suit blah blah
[96]
blah you're too tall you're too short
[98]
whatever it is okay all I mean your eyes
[102]
are too dark I mean they're gonna say
[103]
something right as ridiculous as that
[105]
last one was I heard it all when I
[107]
started so be ready and that's the con
[109]
is you will face a lot of criticism and
[111]
negative criticism because it is a
[114]
career unfortunately where the majority
[116]
of people do become a statistic and they
[118]
fail okay that's just the facts if you
[121]
look it up I think it's 87 percent of
[123]
Realtors within their first two years
[124]
are out of the business
[125]
okay that's an alarming fact yet there
[128]
is a reason the other 13
[130]
are still there now to net13 percent
[132]
only a small percentage are actually
[133]
really successful so I recommend that
[135]
you follow my channel if you're thinking
[137]
about it so you get some cold hard facts
[139]
on how to get your business started to
[140]
get some momentum and actually be
[142]
successful and not be a statistic all
[144]
right so that's one it's gonna be
[146]
negative criticism believe me I could
[148]
talk the whole video about it but I
[149]
won't just be ready for it be ready that
[151]
when you say I'm gonna be a real estate
[152]
agent that everyone's gonna say get away
[154]
from me alright number two one of the
[159]
cons is it is very easy to get in now
[161]
people would say well that's a pro it is
[164]
a pro as well but it's also a con
[165]
because by virtue of that you're going
[167]
to be surrounded with people who are
[168]
average or mediocre and whose advice
[170]
will not be the best so I'm gonna heed
[173]
you with this morning and say make sure
[174]
that you follow advice from the right
[176]
people all right so that level of
[179]
amateur average or mediocre is rampant
[182]
in the industry right a lot of people it
[183]
isn't that they don't necessarily try
[186]
it's their part-time or they don't
[187]
really care they don't take it seriously
[189]
however if they end up working with
[190]
somebody a potential client and then
[193]
they make that client upset
[195]
because of the fact that they're not
[197]
taking it serious so they're not an
[198]
expert now that one bad apple just
[202]
spoiled a bunch okay so that's call
[204]
number two number three is you are an
[206]
independent contractor right now for a
[208]
lot of people that works against them
[209]
here's why you suddenly get into this
[212]
career where you don't have a boss or
[213]
somebody yelling down your throat you
[215]
don't have to clock in in a nine-to-five
[217]
setting right so some people that's
[219]
great well yeah it's good but it's also
[221]
a con because the majority of people
[223]
will fall prey to it and say well I have
[225]
freedoms I can do this I can do that
[227]
they don't show up and they don't work
[228]
hard okay now in the pros I'll cover why
[231]
that is a pro but I will label it as a
[234]
con because the majority of people will
[236]
take that the wrong way and instead of
[238]
actually buckling down and working more
[239]
they end up working less alright I would
[245]
say number four would be lack of proper
[247]
training right you know when you get a
[248]
regular nine-to-five job where you go
[249]
into a special section or a special
[253]
career ride with a doctor engineer
[254]
lawyer whatever you will receive a
[256]
certain amount of formal training
[257]
whether from your car
[259]
here's some sort of Avenue that's very
[261]
lacking in real estate because in most
[264]
cases when you get into an office
[265]
you show up it's your first day the
[267]
brokers like welcome to century 21 or
[269]
Keller Williams or whatever there's your
[271]
desk there's your uh there's your desk
[273]
cubicle there's your phone get to work
[275]
and they walk off and you're sitting
[277]
there like ah now with that said we're
[280]
in a different era now you can come to
[281]
my youtube channel in particular or
[283]
probably a few others and get a ton of
[284]
training for free and you have some sort
[286]
of guidance however in the setting
[289]
itself it's highly lacking and then we
[291]
wonder why we have a bunch of people who
[293]
aren't good at sales and they don't know
[296]
what they're doing okay now the last con
[300]
is going to be the barrier to entry is
[302]
very low now some people will say again
[303]
that's a pro but I don't think so
[305]
because you're coming into something
[307]
that is labeled as a certain way when in
[309]
actuality for example the label real
[311]
estate is an easy job people look at it
[313]
and they think it's easy yeah it is a
[315]
direct sales job you have to talk to
[316]
people and clients and that kind of
[318]
stuff but that's not the way it's
[319]
packaged up and sold as pack yourself is
[322]
this easy thing where you just show up
[323]
in a suit and you get leads and you get
[324]
business now if you get into the
[326]
business that cold cold hard reality is
[329]
gonna slap you in the face who's gonna
[330]
say whoa I'm watching million dollar
[332]
listing and they just kind of get on the
[333]
phone and they negotiate and they make
[335]
hundreds of thousands of dollars
[336]
what's going on here and then you're
[339]
sitting there saying where's my business
[340]
right cool now I could go on and on but
[343]
I want to highlight some pros right now
[344]
the pros is you can come in you don't
[346]
have to climb any kind of corporate
[349]
ladder you can just go straight to the
[351]
top based on your production so if you
[353]
produce you get paid and I love it that
[356]
is definitely a pro you can come in now
[358]
if you really buckle down and you work
[361]
on the skills and you make your learning
[362]
curve shrink like this and you start
[364]
getting everything quickly and you start
[366]
getting sales and working hard and that
[367]
kind of stuff you can literally change
[369]
your life in six months or a year
[371]
guaranteed it's incredible there's very
[374]
few other avenues on this planet right
[376]
now and it's a little bit easier with
[377]
the internet however there's very few
[379]
careers that you can get into like this
[381]
and have that kind of success right away
[383]
and it'll change your life
[384]
I've seen people get one or two
[385]
commission checks and it changed their
[387]
life it's incredible okay that
[390]
definitely I would say is a huge
[392]
Pro you don't have to wait okay well you
[394]
know 15 years down the line I'm gonna
[396]
get promoted and I'm gonna get that one
[397]
position and I'm gonna finally get paid
[399]
uh-huh you can come in and get a couple
[401]
sales boom you get one two three four
[402]
commission checks and you're rockin and
[404]
rollin man okay definitely one of the
[406]
pros number two is the fact that you
[409]
will have to learn at least at the very
[411]
least basic sales skills and the reason
[413]
I say that's a pro because some people
[414]
look at it as Lokhande like well I don't
[416]
want to be labeled as the salesman I
[417]
don't want to be labeled as the used-car
[419]
salesman look ladies and gentlemen the
[420]
ability to sell with it come so many
[423]
other things you think it's just about
[425]
you know many of your leading people and
[427]
all that it's persuasion not
[428]
manipulation persuasion now if I have an
[431]
evil intention behind my persuasion then
[433]
you can say it's manipulation and all
[435]
that stuff okay but then again that's up
[437]
for debate persuasion skills okay
[439]
getting what you want out of life
[440]
understanding that with a client if I
[442]
can persuade them a lot of people will
[444]
have a difficult time making a decision
[446]
but with proper persuasion techniques
[448]
and skill I can get them out of their
[450]
own way help them make a decision when
[452]
they benefit and I benefit nothing more
[454]
sweet than that I think and it's a skill
[455]
that very few people have okay but
[458]
behind that comes facing your
[459]
insecurities becoming a lot more
[461]
confident walking around with your chest
[463]
out smiling living a better life being
[465]
happier and enjoying this reality that
[467]
we all live in what if I told you that
[471]
with real estate you would get that well
[473]
that's definitely a pro and that's the
[474]
way I see it if you're committed okay
[478]
another pro is in this industry right
[482]
you can build your own brand meaning I
[484]
can join a team and go that route right
[487]
so I guess you can say it's flexibility
[488]
that can be a part of a world-class team
[490]
or I can build my own empire so you
[493]
options and flexibility when you get
[494]
into it it's not like you just are
[496]
selling yourself and you're awesome
[498]
you know floor and making calls yeah
[500]
you're doing that but I could say okay I
[501]
can team up with this guy and join them
[503]
or I can do my own thing I can later get
[505]
my broker's license and start my own
[506]
brokerage and do my own thing or I can
[509]
just be a salesperson and be under this
[510]
brokerage and create my own team in my
[512]
own mini Empire you have so many options
[514]
right that's the beautiful part about it
[516]
is I can either stand or somebody else
[518]
create my own team under somebody else
[520]
at crema
[521]
brokerage
[522]
you know your ability to brand within
[524]
even your own brokerage is limitless and
[526]
you can do whatever you want all right
[528]
because look at some people in my
[529]
company like Keller Williams you look
[531]
and you see Keller Williams on the
[532]
corner but then you see their brand team
[534]
Bob and Joe team Sarah and Kelly or
[537]
whatever it is so you can create this
[539]
huge branding even though you're
[540]
technically under another industry now
[542]
imagine if you work for Nike or some of
[543]
these other companies you're under their
[545]
brand you can't create your own brand
[546]
within the brand and I think that's an
[548]
awesome thing in real estate is you're
[549]
working for yourself you're working for
[551]
yourself but even though you're under
[552]
somebody you can actually create your
[554]
own thing and be your own entity like
[556]
I've done all right I've always been
[557]
with big companies like century 21 and
[559]
Keller Williams but look I created a
[561]
brand team BC as a brand right and
[564]
lastly this is one of the biggest pros
[565]
that opens so many other doors through
[567]
networking and that kind of stuff I've
[569]
met incredible people I've forged great
[571]
relationships I'm speaking on stage now
[573]
with the guys from million dollar
[574]
listing who else is doing that right or
[576]
what else what else out there or what
[579]
other career would give you that
[580]
opportunity to go from doing a job being
[583]
on social media creating your own brand
[585]
to now sharing the stage of people who
[586]
have been on TV national TV
[588]
international TV
[589]
it's insane okay and I think that's
[592]
something that you're not going to find
[593]
pretty much anywhere else okay so I
[595]
don't want to ramble on and on I'll end
[596]
the video here if you feel like I missed
[599]
anything you want to highlight anything
[600]
or give your own tips go ahead and put
[601]
them in the comment section below I'd be
[603]
curious to hear if you guys have any
[605]
thoughts or observations about what I
[607]
said
[607]
additionally make sure that you like the
[609]
video and subscribe and as always I'll
[611]

[615]
gotten on it I recommend you get on it
[616]
now keeps getting better and better and
[618]
we keep growing by the day everything's
[620]
in the description peace out team you
