to develop our society for the better

LG Electronics and LG Chem have been operating the LG Social Campus since 2011

and have been collaborating with social enterprises

So far, the number of social enterprises supported by LG Social Campus in finance,

space, and growth has reached 281

(Trash Busters business) The first case of Covid was confirmed

("Trash Busters", non-disposable container rental company) the day after we launched our business

(10th term of LG Social Campus) LG Social Campus helped us a lot

when we were having such a hard time

after received 400 cancellation calls

They helped us like oasis in desert

with benefits and networks

(Eco-friendly design company 'Public Designism') We had a lot of fun playing with our equipment for about a year

At first I thought that

the electronics company didn't know what agricultural products company

But they combined LG Electronics' production system

and agricultural products distribution system

so I guess it helped a lot

There was a saying,

“It’s different when we become a part of LG”

but what I actually felt while working as a fellow was

that they are constantly watching us

So, we could feel that they are regularly checking

how we are doing these days,

and what kind of real eco-friendly indicators we are creating

At the beginning of LG Social Campus,

many people said that it was difficult to sustain

a business that pursues environmental values

But despite this,

LG Social Campus boldly invested in the future

Eco-friendliness is our motto

Even if it is unreasonable, such an identity as an eco-friendly

social enterprise or idea must be nurtured

although it is expressed as ESG in a public language around the world

this huge group called LG has already created an eco-friendly motto

and kept it just like a bloodline

But it(environmental) was already a thing

in LG Social Campus since 2016

At that time I thought,

should I really do this?

Can talking about the environment, eco-friendliness make money?

But LG helped me a lot

by making me believe in myself

that I can pull this off

Until 2016, sales did not exceed $300,000

(1,600% increase in sales compared to 2016) In 2017 after consulting of LG Social Campus

(the number of employees multiplied by 5 times) in 2015, our sales was about $1 million

for the first time

The result of the daring challenge was astonishing

Social enterprises that received various support from LG Social Campus

achieved remarkable results,

an average of 30.2% in sales,

18.7% in employment, and 131,000 tons of carbon dioxide reduction.

Just as plants need soil to grow,

what new social enterprises needed was 'space'

LG Social Campus has so far supported 52 companies

with office space and resting space on the Anam campus of Korea University,

teaching them the value of coexistence

One of the best ways to grow sprouts is

to put two or three sticks around them

Make them visible so that no one will step on them while passing by,

Or a spider web to protect them from insects

I think that three or four sticks are the most basic warm devices

that completes the starting point (of social enterprises),

just like the power

to make these plant to grow into huge trees and huge vines.

Social enterprises that have stood up with help of LG

are holding each other's hands

to spread good influence and make the world better place

In particular, 'Public Designism' was selected as the first board of directors member

among the fellows of LG Social Campus.

Yesterday's mentee became today's mentor

I think that the LG Social Campus

has been consistently investing in us

So, of course, I think we should return

the investment with the social values

we created to the society

After I work hard for a year or two,

I think it could be an opportunity for someone else

to follow up and continue performing

You know, we've had experience of receiving (various support) from LG

And there are many social enterprises that are suffering much more than us

We are working hard to support those companies

as much as we can

There are so many variables (in operating business),

we will endure all those variables

and provide material assistance to start up companies

this is something I never even dreamed of

A world where everyone goes together for 'shared values'!

People who needed someone's help

are now standing on their feet

and reaching out to someone else
