had to do this uh recently with all

three credit bureaus and actually more

than once so what the hell i'll share
[20]
with you guys talking about my
[22]
experience here and all that fun stuff

because dude not only does it help them

out a lot but also guys this helps me

out a lot too okay because some of you

have had credit cards for more years and

i've been alive so

that and so one of the things we're

going to be talking about today

in case you guys have never had to do
[76]
this before is disputing some of your
[78]
personal information when it comes to
[80]
the credit bureaus because uh
[82]
i i forget the statistics 80
[84]
80 something percent of like all credit
[86]
reports have an error on them somewhere
[88]
uh mine do
[90]
i definitely do so i had to dispute
[92]
stuff even if all maybe your credit
[94]
history or payments and stuff is is
[95]
accurate there's a good chance something
[97]
is screwed up with either your name your
[99]
employer uh your date of birth an old
[101]
address a phone number something along
[103]
those lines that's exactly what the case
[104]
was for me and we're going to talk about
[106]
how to do that today now you can do this
[108]
i mean there's numerous ways you guys
[109]
can do this okay and actually someone
[110]
just asked me on the channel about
[113]
specifically about personal information
[114]
they specifically asked about disputing
[116]
personal information they said um
[118]
can i ask about either mailing letters
[120]
or calling and i said you know you can
[122]
mail letters if you want you can mail
[123]
you can um
[125]
give them a phone call i mean i guess
[127]
you could even email too i mean well
[128]
there's actually a system right here

right you can do this system here online

we're about to talk about so you can do

the system here online you can email or
[134]
you can um send letters in you can call
[136]
them so different ways you can do it

okay i just said you know calling will

probably be your fastest way that's what
[141]
i've done for this um you know i may do
[143]
some other ways well actually i have

done it online too because i disputed
[146]
some other stuff here so there's

different ways you can do it okay it's
[148]
whatever you whatever you feel like

doing whatever is up to you so i did

most of this you're about to see through
[153]
calling all right so i just called i'll
[155]
give you guys the phone numbers i called
[156]
here about how i handled it so we'll
[158]
start with equifax first
[160]
because echo fax oh my gosh man
[162]
so if you got any guys that don't know
[164]
um
[166]
echo fax is probably the most
[167]
challenging of all three of the credit
[168]
bureaus to deal with okay experience
[170]
probably the easiest in most things uh
[172]
trans union's probably the next and then
[174]
equifax is like the challenging one so
[176]
with equifax um
[179]
just calling them um i called them
[182]
uh their dispute department well it's
[184]
really they call it customer care
[186]
department okay so i just call it
[187]
dispute customer care that's what it
[189]
says on my phone that's how i have it in
[191]
there so here's the number i called the
[196]
go that makes it a real 800-685-1111
[198]
number now so that's the phone number i
[200]
called and i found it easier to get
[201]
through than just going through the
[202]
regular customer service line and it's
[204]
weird because with some at least said
[205]
but again my experience with some of
[206]
these credit bureaus sometimes it's
[208]
easier to call a direct customer service
[209]
line and get transferred from there
[211]
other times i find it easier to go
[212]
directly to like the dispute department
[214]
it's just weird and you know sometimes
[216]
there's phone numbers i find online that
[217]
are like totally useless
[219]
it's
[220]
yeah as you're seeing it's not so
[221]
straightforward in the world of credit
[222]
so i was able to change my addresses
[224]
over the phone so any address changes
[226]
you do you can do out that over the
[227]
phone with echo fax uh they do send you
[229]
a letter in the mail saying your old
[230]
address or address is however many
[232]
you're on there if you have an incorrect
[233]
address they'll send you a letter
[234]
afterwards saying hey those have been
[235]
deleted um you know so disputing that
[237]
kind of stuff personal info is really
[239]
not a problem for the employer here's
[240]
what they told me the first time i
[242]
called i was told to change your
[243]
employer on there if you got an old
[245]
employer or an incorrect employer
[248]
on there they said i just sent a
[249]
photocopy of social security card and
[251]
driver's license with a cover letter
[252]
stating my new employer in order to
[254]
change it on their report that's what i
[256]
was told initially so i called back
[257]
another time to confirm this information
[260]
to make sure that they had my new
[261]
address updated in there um they
[263]
actually got rid of old addresses and
[265]
there all that kind of stuff make sure
[266]
employer is all squared away and i asked
[269]
about or excuse me this time i called
[270]
ask about the employer about getting it
[271]
squared away and this time the woman i
[273]
talked to she was able to change the
[275]
employer over the phone
[278]
so i was getting two different answers
[280]
from the exact same credit bureau the
[281]
first time they which i thought was
[283]
weird they said okay we can change your
[284]
address over the phone but your employer
[286]
we can't do that over the phone i
[287]
thought it was kind of strange it could
[288]
do one but not the other then i just
[290]
called back another time and then
[292]
um they said okay yeah we can change
[294]
your employer over the phone too i don't
[295]
know go figure so next we'll talk about
[297]
transunion here this is their page here

if you want to do a dispute you just
[300]
search these guys you search um
[302]
you know equifax dispute personal
[304]
information if you google search trans
[306]
dispute personal information the same
[308]
thing with experian you should be able
[310]
to find these pages here really easily
[311]
so if you want to do this online you can
[313]
you can dispute this kind of stuff right
[314]
and right here it even says you can
[315]
dispute your personal info if you would
[316]
like now with transunion
[319]
i called and i just called the customer
[320]
service directly i didn't call whatever
[322]
like phone number there was for the
[323]
dispute department i found it easier
[325]
take it in just calling the customer
[327]
service direct line and then going from
[328]
there um they may ask you some questions
[331]
uh an automated service to confirm your
[333]
identity before they transfer you or
[335]
they may transfer you then you just
[336]
answer the questions then it just
[337]
depends so they're going to do that uh
[340]
oh the other thing with echo facts too
[341]
is they actually seem to have the most
[343]
the most security questions they ask and
[345]
the most like
[346]
i don't know if i would say stringent or
[347]
bizarre security questions they're just
[350]
in my experience they've been the most
[351]
difficult to handle okay to deal with
[354]
transunion so far not too bad uh that
[357]
was pretty easy just get uh address and
[359]
employer they'll change it over the
[360]
phone for you it was not much of an
[361]
issue with them getting that change and
[363]
the next one we'll talk about the last
[364]
one here is with experience so again you
[366]
search experian you know dispute um you
[368]
can come here online page it's not too
[370]
hard to find if you just google search
[372]
it and you can do it this way or you can
[374]
do what i did where i did make a phone
[375]
call to them for this one i just called
[377]
the regular customer service i did not
[379]
call the direct dispute department i
[381]
currently have my credit monitoring with
[382]
experience that's probably going to
[384]
change they have like a private phone
[386]
number in there for members to call
[387]
that's been a garbage phone number like
[388]
it doesn't even connect anything um in
[390]
my experience so i call this 800 number
[394]
right here
[395]
this is what i used uh they will change
[397]
your address employer over the phone
[398]
experience probably the easiest to deal
[399]
with so they change both those over the
[401]
phone for you they email you the results
[403]
they do pretty much everything via email
[405]
um when you when you deal with them so
[407]
they don't do the whole snail mail like
[409]
uh transunion echo facts experience
[410]
they'll just email you all the updates
[412]
and that kind of thing and general notes
[414]
to follow just for um all of these i
[417]
would say you do want to follow up with
[418]
these later so whether it's you know a
[420]
couple days later a week later a month
[421]
later up to you just down the road you
[423]
do want to just check on this again
[424]
because like experian gave my new
[426]
employer but they freaking misspelled it
[428]
like
[429]
like i can log into my account i see
[431]
they updated my employer but they spelt
[433]
they spelt it wrong so i'm like alright
[435]
great now i gotta go change that i call
[436]
back to change like to update the update
[438]
that they just did and then transunion
[441]
when i called um
[442]
another time default they actually
[444]
didn't even have the address changed
[445]
like they were supposed to so i
[447]
you know did it again called and did it
[448]
again so and then uh some of the stuff
[451]
this is the equity equifax rep told me
[453]
could take up to 30 days for this stuff
[455]
to show up on your credit report so she
[456]
said hey you know um
[458]
this will you know go into our system
[459]
right away and you know we'll send you a
[461]
letter letting you about these changes
[462]
but you know it could be up to 30 days
[464]
before you see this you know when your
[465]
next credit report comes out so he said
[467]
if you don't see it um you know right
[469]
away don't sweat it you know it will
[471]
eventually get uh updated in the future
[473]
and then when it comes to credit report
[474]
uh since you are changing your
[475]
information oftentimes they'll just
[477]
offer you a new credit report if you you
[479]
know they'll say hey we've got this
[480]
information change and we're happy you
[482]
know to send you a credit report uh
[484]
because you're you're disputing personal
[486]
information i mean it's and some people
[488]
might even use the word dispute it's not
[490]
like you're disputing a
[491]
hard inquiry or a late payment or
[494]
something like that some kind of
[495]
negative on your credit report it's just
[496]
your personal information so nonetheless
[498]
though you are oftentimes gonna talk to
[500]
the dispute department you're gonna say
[501]
hey this information is incorrect i need
[502]
this update i need this changed and that
[504]
kind of thing and then they'll do that
[506]
for you so getting a credit report for
[508]
free shouldn't be an issue so oftentimes
[509]
they'll offer to they'll say hey uh
[511]
we'll send you a credit report you know
[513]
you'll get one within the next seven to
[514]
ten business days uh with all your new
[516]
information on it so it shouldn't be
[518]
much of an issue to get another credit
[519]
report just to confirm this stuff but
[521]
again you do want to follow up later
[522]
because
[523]
like you said even here after i've
[525]
talked to them and called several times
[526]
some stuff they spell something
[528]
sometimes they say they update it they
[530]
don't update it it's just
[532]
you kind of never know with the credit
[534]
bureaus there's a way to put it so guys
[536]
