$300/week Unemployment Benefit Extension | 40 States Approved, States Paying Out $300/week Benefits - YouTube
Channel: Dr. Nitin Chhoda - Ignition Time
[0]
Hi everyone, this is Dr Nitin Chhoda with
Ignition Time and welcome to my channel!
[3]
In this video
i'll give you the latest status of the
[6]
$300 a week
unemployment booster the lost wages
[9]
assistance program.
At the time i'm recording this video 10
[12]
states have yet to be approved
for the funds from FEMA through the DRF
[16]
program but the majority of states have
indeed been approved. In fact
[20]
on your screen right now you'll see the
FEMA website and you see this is the
[24]
latest information
from the FEMA website. On the 29th of
[27]
August they approved Minnesota, Florida
and Hawaii and going down through
[32]
the entire list, this is a list of
all the states that have been approved.
[36]
A majority of states have indeed been
approved and you can see
[39]
as we scroll down the list that again a
majority of states
[42]
have indeed been approved at the time
that i'm recording this video.
[46]
Many state states like Arizona already
have already started sending the funds
[50]
and many other states have also started
sending the funds and in this video
[53]
i'll give you the latest status of which
states have yet to be approved
[58]
and which states have already started
sending funds. 10 states
[62]
plus Washington DC have not yet received
federal unemployment funds through the
[66]
lost wages assistance program and therefore they
[69]
are not able to start paying the $300
weekly benefit to their citizens.
[73]
South Dakota is not applying for it. Now we're
going to cover as much information as we
[76]
can in this video but keep in mind if your
[79]
state is not mentioned it's simply
because we don't have information for
[82]
your particular state yet.
Also if you do want to help type out in
[86]
the comments section below
and let us know which state you're in
[88]
and whether you started getting the
benefits
[91]
and then you'll be able to help all the
other members of our community. Now as
[94]
per the President's executive order
states are supposed to pay back, pay
[98]
going back all the way through to August 1st.
[100]
So your state should do that in
compliance with the President's
[103]
executive order
and the the architecture of the lost
[106]
wages assistance program.
Now some states have already started
[110]
processing and started paying out
benefits to their residents. These states
[113]
include Arizona, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana
[118]
Tennessee and Texas at this point in
time have
[121]
already started paying. Remember there
are two stages to this. Stage one
[125]
is that the state applies for a grant
from FEMA
[128]
through the DRF fund and then the state
gets the money. By the way FEMA has been
[132]
approving these grants very quickly.
Now once the state gets the money the
[135]
state now needs to comply with local guidelines
[138]
make sure their systems are updated.
Because keep in mind is a completely
[141]
separate program
and then they start distributing the
[143]
money. So there are two aspects to this
the state applying and then the state
[147]
distributing money. So
now keep in mind it's been over a month
[151]
at this point in time since
the $600 weekly benefit the federal
[156]
unemployment booster has expired and
that was mandated as per the Cares Act.
[159]
So a lot of a lot of individuals i would
[162]
say millions of individuals who are
unemployed all over the country are
[165]
hurting as we speak
because this money hasn't gone out yet.
[168]
Now there are some states that have not
yet received federal approval.
[172]
These states are Delaware, Illinois, Kansas
[176]
Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey,
North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington DC
[182]
and Wisconsin.
And like I mentioned earlier South
[185]
Dakota's governor said the state will
not apply
[188]
for the subsidy now six states like i
said have already started paying the
[191]
supplement
and here on your screen you see the
[194]
status of the extra unemployment
benefits the 300
[197]
a week lost wages assistance program all
the states that you see in green have
[200]
indeed been approved
so all the states that i mentioned
[203]
earlier on the fema website uh that that
you saw on the fema website are
[207]
displayed
in green on this map right here all the
[211]
states that are in yellow
have applied but have not yet been
[215]
approved these include wisconsin
delaware and south carolina applied but
[219]
not yet approved
at the time that we are recording this
[222]
video so they are waiting for fema to
approve
[225]
the the grant application and we can
expect fema to do that very shortly
[228]
because fema has been very quick
in approving these grant applications
[232]
states in blue
have yet to apply and this includes at
[236]
the time we are recording this video new
jersey
[238]
illinois so that's what uh you know
that's what's going on in those states
[242]
now keep in mind that
this money could run out not could run
[245]
out it will run out because there's only
44 billion dollars
[249]
and there are millions and millions of
individuals that need this unemployment
[252]
booster so this money is going to run
out so
[255]
it's likely that states that take extra
time to apply could be left behind
[259]
because the money
could run out now the states in gray
[261]
have not taken action yet
and this includes as you can see on the
[264]
screen dc uh
north dakota and nebraska so these
[269]
states have not yet taken action yet
and the state in red that you can see
[273]
south dakota is uh is essentially
not not accepting this subsidy now keep
[278]
in mind that
the president signed this executive
[280]
order over
two weeks ago it's been it's been a long
[283]
time since the prayers since the
since the president signed the executive
[287]
order and at this point in time
40 states that's 4040 states have
[291]
received approval
florida hawaii and minnesota like i
[294]
mentioned at the start of this video
were the latest states to get approval
[298]
and
many states have indeed started sending
[301]
out the money once again arizona
louisiana
[303]
missouri montana tennessee and texas
have indeed started sending out the
[307]
funds
now keep in mind montana is amongst
[310]
these six states that i mentioned
montana is a state that's actually
[313]
paying out four hundred dollars a week
in unemployment benefits the boost on
[317]
top of the state unemployment extension
and uh the other states in the list are
[322]
paying out 300 the other states meaning
arizona louisiana
[325]
missouri tennessee and texas so that's
something that's something
[328]
worth noting now states will be getting
three weeks of unemployment funds
[332]
meaning the 300
weekly booster and this will only you
[335]
know this will cover the weeks
this will cover the first three weeks
[338]
that they distribute and then they must
then apply
[341]
weekly for additional funding from the
federal government from the drf program
[346]
so again the states are only given three
weeks
[348]
of the 300 a week booster and then after
that they have to apply weekly to get
[351]
more funds from the federal government
and the program will be up to 44 billion
[355]
dollars
in total federal disaster relief funds
[357]
to unemployment unemployed workers
from fema through the drf program which
[362]
is a disaster relief fund
over to the states which then
[365]
distributed to their residence now keep
in mind
[367]
we're already starting to get it with
hurricanes i hope everyone in louisiana
[371]
is safe right now
and other states that were affected by
[373]
hurricane laura but if keep in mind that
this is essentially hurricane relief
[376]
money that was redoubted
and like i said some states did already
[380]
start paying
montana was the most recent state to
[383]
bring its program online just a few days
ago
[386]
and the state did receive funding
according to the department of labor and
[389]
industry
and arizona planned to complete all
[392]
retroactive payments as of last week so
if you're in arizona
[395]
chances are you already got your
retractive payment if all the paperwork
[398]
was in order so let us know
in the comments section below and texas
[402]
paid out 424 million dollars in funds
last week out of its total 1.38
[407]
billion dollars that it was allocated
through fema louisiana paid out 240
[411]
million dollars to almost 300 000
individuals
[414]
in the past few days tennessee started
paying missouri started paying as well
[418]
and missouri started
missouri started processing the money
[421]
excuse me and they said that workers
should soon start receiving
[424]
benefits let me repeat missouri began
processing the money and
[427]
they have started receiving benefits now
they will start receiving benefits in
[431]
missouri now there's a
there's a significant discrepancy based
[436]
on where you live based on the cost of
living so if you take a look at this
[439]
chart
on your screen right here you'll see the
[441]
jobless benefits after rent
food and transportation expenses all the
[444]
cities at the top
where the cost of living is lower um you
[448]
know the dollar goes uh
the dollar goes a long way but all the
[451]
cities closer towards the bottom a
majority of them
[453]
in california new york um you'll see
that
[457]
the dollar doesn't go very far because
of the cost of living because the cost
[461]
of living is very high there
and keep in mind it could be several
[464]
weeks before some states could start
making payments alaska
[467]
believes it will be six to eight weeks
to reprogram changes in the state's
[471]
technology uh systems in order to be
able to start distributing the funds so
[476]
that's where things stand right now now
keep in mind that
[479]
if congress does not allocate more money
um then this money is going to run out
[484]
and once this money runs out the
president
[486]
will have to essentially go to congress
and ask for money so that's where things
[489]
stand right now and this is the current
status of the 300
[493]
week unemployment boost so thank you so
