In this video

We're building a simplified on-demand
[2]
Pressurized water system for your RV or your camper for your van for your off-grid tiny home now
[9]
This is part two. So if you haven't seen part one click on the card above and it'll take you there
[14]
Otherwise, let's continue on so here's our next setup for the pump
[18]
So well, the first thing you want to do is check to see which way your water is flowing
[22]
There's always a mark somewhere on this one see right there
[25]
There's an arrow that tells you that it water's running that way
[29]
If you remember it comes with two each of these two threaded fittings and two hose barb fittings. We're gonna use one of each
[37]
The one that's going to the sink. I've got this 30 inch
[41]
I didn't need 30 inch but half inch FIP to half inch FIP. Both ends are the same. I would have got stainless
[47]
I just like it. This is gonna be permanent. This pump does cook put out a good bit of pressure
[52]
So it's also freeze resistant. I just thought was a good way to go
[55]
So we'll need to put the pipe tape on here
[58]
And this simply screws on here and then the other end simply screws right on under the sink to the cold water fitting
[65]
Now this part over here is gonna be a bit more temporary
[67]
but we're gonna use the hose the hose barb fitting on this one and this pipe is
[74]
Inside diameter
[75]
1/2 inch I also got the reinforce again didn't need to because this isn't gonna be pressurized but this will go over this and get
[80]
another hose clamp
[81]
So the other end of this is gonna go into our temporary water tank
[85]
And what I'm gonna do is I'm going to take this and I'm going to cut this top part off
[89]
Here's my little thing with your pipe thread. You want to wrap it around in this direction
[93]
Such that when you screw
[96]
this on so we're gonna screw that on to the right that it goes with the flow of the tape not against it if you're
[101]
Screwing us if you're screwing it against the tape
[104]
it's gonna
[105]
It's gonna buckle up and Bend up
[107]
So and this is the direction I go and I guess if you're looking at from this way
[110]
It would be clockwise. And so you want to do this knot when it's attached here because you could break the plastic
[115]
So what I've done is I've hand tighten this as much as I can
[119]
because I don't want to bust this plastic fitting and
[121]
So then we'll crank it on and it'll probably leak a little and I'll just keep tightening tightening just a little bit
[126]
Alright, so now that my tubing is out of its warm bath. It's much more relaxed
[130]
So here we have it
[131]
Now when you put these put these on put the tubing all the way up to the end
[135]
And put the clamp in the middle
[136]
Don't put the clamp all the way up here or all here. Try to get it right in the middle again
[140]
This one's not gonna be pressurized. So the tightness isn't as a big factor. So you want to do as much work as you can
[146]
outside of
[148]
Underneath the kitchen sink because it's not fun to do it underneath there
[151]
So when once we get this mounted then all I have to do is just I take this
[156]
Plug it in these cool fittings, make sure it's all the way in
[160]
Push that down and it's done see all right, heading back under the sink
[165]
I've mounted it on the back wall to kind of test it out. You can see here
[170]
I plugged in that water line that just goes right up in here and screw so that fitting there and
[175]
Then I've got my intake line going up and over to where the water tank will be but the problem is this sticks out
[183]
and it may not fit so I need to put my
[186]
Refrigerator in here on it slide out and see if it's gonna be able to go all the way back in
[189]
Oh that's got to find in another place to tell you what this build is absolutely amazing
[193]
Just the blind luck of tolerances and I shouldn't say this out loud. You know, our first tolerance was up here at the drain line
[201]
Hey, that's just like right there. The next tolerance was the water lines, and there's actually about a half-inch
[210]
It's actually about a half-inch right here where the water lines clear
[214]
I can tie this one up a little bit and reach it around back for the pump. There's another 1/2 to 3/4 inch clearance
[220]
So when we try the slide
[227]
Slide works, perfect
[229]
If you don't know how to make these slides, I'll put a card right here above you can click on it
[233]
These are really easy to make much easier
[235]
than I really thought it would be and in in that video I mentioned about putting the travel locks in and here's the pin I
[241]
Was mentioning about you just drill a hole right down through there. This is a pin a little button on the bottom there
[248]
And you can just leave it partly out and go back and forth
[254]
And then when you're ready to travel
[256]
Just push it the rest of the way down and it's locked in solid and then I have this little lock over here
[263]
That just spins around and it locks the pantry slide out in so
[268]
simple easy
[269]
Does the job alright it's time to do another test before we get the water tank set up
[274]
I put some zip ties in to hold everything in place
[276]
Looks pretty good. So
[278]
if you've been subscribed to my channel you
[281]
Heard the story about this little wire here
[283]
So when when the mavs was built they put this wire in the wall and it wasn't not accessible to anybody
[290]
They put it in really just for me
[291]
I think so when I was taking the walls down I found this wire and there was a note attached to it
[296]
And what's really cool is that they even put a note to it?
[299]
It says power source, 12 volt DC 20 amps plus minus constant hot
[303]
I never really did check to see if it was hot because it might have gotten disconnected or never was connected
[310]
But that's one reason why I wanted to put my electrical box somewhere back in here is because I would have access to 20 amps
[316]
Always hot
[317]
So I'm gonna use this I did just now check it
[321]
Again, everything just really working out. I'm so jinxing myself
[324]
Um, so I did a quick little test and the pump did come on
[328]
so since we've got this now, I have it wired it up and we'll do a proper switch and
[333]
plug and all that stuff
[334]
But I just want to test and see where my water leaks are cuz I'm I am expecting a leak right here
[338]
I really hope we don't have one here
[340]
That could be a problem and there shouldn't be one up above because that's a metal-on-metal fitting. So I've got my water line over here
[347]
Stuck in my tank here. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna get in there and give that thing a little power
[354]
Just wanna see what's there?
[357]
So it's priming Luther's water
[363]
Water leak here hot so far
[367]
Are
[374]
That's awesome
[427]
One slight flaw that's gonna need to be dealt with if you have the cold water valve open and
[433]
You accidentally open the hot water valve only while that one's open
[437]
If you haven't open this one it combines and the water feeds back through here and comes out down here
[442]
So I need to try and figure out maybe I'll visit the nice people Lowe's how to get aid something here
[448]
That's a dummy one or put a line on here and crepe it off. So that water can't come out here
[453]
All right, so I did go down to Lowe's and got in a half-inch FIP pipe cap
[458]
And I'll put the tape on it and we'll put it on just the hot water until
[462]
Eventually, I get the hot water heater put in
[465]
Since that was a metal-on-metal I put it on pretty tight got my wrench and tighten that down real good
[469]
So that should take care of our back pressure problem
[473]
So I built this slide out here for mostly clothing and dressing. So so the in the morning for dressing, I've got my shirts
[481]
Put them up there. We've got my pants
[484]
wristband and just put them up there and then I have access to
[488]
T-shirt socks underwear a lot of little things and this is also where I've allowed storage for my water tank
[494]
I've put this in here to keep it in place and so now
[498]
The water line kind of comes up and over from the water pump down in here
[502]
need to figure out how to fasten it a little better here and
[505]
Figure out how to cut the line, but also something I need to do had a brain idea last night
[511]
over here
[512]
We have the pump for suction
[514]
And what that is is a ghost of a suction pump that is back behind the wall here
[518]
and so what I'm gonna do I'm gonna go in there and cut the wire to that and
[522]
Bring that wire over to the pump. So then I have to worry about wiring into that other
[527]
Another wire right now and I'll already have a pump built-in. So that's gonna be great
[531]
Just come up here hit the suction pump and then that'll turn on the water pump then it'll be on demand
[535]
So that's gonna simplify things a lot except I've got to go dig under here and find out where to cut that wire
[541]
Alright, so I found my section pump back here
[544]
Now my connector right here snipped it and there's my wires
[549]
So I like using these crimp connectors here
[552]
They're color coded. So this one is blue
[555]
And so you get you a nice pair of wire cutters and crimpers you put the blue in the blue then you just slide
[562]
The wire in there and crimp it on a little more challenging
[565]
I've got to crawl in this little hole and crimp this one on there. There's very little room to work
[571]
Okay, and then once you've got them all crimped give them a nice tug
[575]
Make sure they don't come out. They're not gonna come undone
[578]
And so there that job's done. I really didn't have anything in my arsenal for tying down the
[585]
wire so I just put in a
[588]
Little screw here and zip tied and that's gonna keep the wires up and out of the way
[594]
All right
[595]
so back on the other side of fish my wires through connected them up and set the moment of truth now is
[601]
Let's throw the switch and see if we have power
[607]
Yep heard the pump kick on let's give it let's let the pressure off. All right, try that again
[616]
Yes
[618]
We are good we are good to go. All right. Now we got power this is awesome. And that was pretty simple
[624]
So here we have our water tank in place and I found out that I did need to bungee it down
[628]
Not really because it was moving but because of the pressure from this pipe, which is really rigid
[632]
so I just clipped it over the top and then I put a screw in and
[636]
To the point where this is not gonna come off and I'll just undo it here won't anybody change it out?
[641]
So now well so I found was the tube when I was pushing it in the tube
[645]
Which I said tied back there on the wall
[647]
So we don't have any pressure on the water pump line of the line going to the water pump
[652]
So what I did is I put a little bungee
[657]
So what I did is I attached a bungee here and screwed that
[661]
To a board up here
[662]
and how I did that bungee up there is I got one of these small bungee cords with a clip here and
[668]
then I took up I took my
[671]
pliers here and then I squeezed this right here real small just to the size where screw could fit through it and
[678]
not come out so
[680]
One thing I like about these bins is they come in different sizes?
[684]
This is a two and a half gallon one and they come in smaller sizes like this one and up with links below to these
[691]
But I have a lot of reason I'm doing this way is I have a lot of bin space in
[696]
Outside so I can have a bunch of these two and a half gallon ones and just swap it out when I need to
[700]
So took one of the tops
[702]
And I grabbed a hold of it with my pliers
[706]
Like this and
[709]
then I got my one inch drill bit and
[712]
I went in here and carefully drilled this out
[715]
Which splits things apart like this? It's a little mangled
[719]
You can even you can see it kind of comes out, but that's okay
[721]
We need a little air venting. So you end up with a two piece cap, that looks like this and
[727]
Then I'm going to screw that on here
[733]
And then we will put our water line in there
[745]
It all goes back in here
[748]
He gets bungee back in. So one thing you'll see here is that hose is always gonna seem to not get to the bottom
[754]
No matter where you put it it moves around and curls around
[757]
So what we're gonna have to do is we're gonna have to fix that
[761]
Okay. So what I've done here is I've taken just some standard half inch PVC water line and I cut a small piece with these
[769]
cutters here, which also works great for cutting
[771]
The hose too. And then I use the hairdryer you can use hot water
[775]
Just get this in heated up and then just push the pipe in there
[778]
It'll stay in and what this does you don't need a whole lot of pipe?
[782]
It'll just kind of fend on your water tank. You just kind of try it out. So then I feed this back through
[788]
In
[790]
There you can see and even though it may move around
[794]
It keeps it from curling up and not getting to the bottom of the tank and you do everything back together
[799]
I've got it in the tank and say just stays there and so let's push it in and see if it stays in place
[806]
Stays put the bungee up there is working. So here we go
[813]
Back
[815]
Nothing gets cramped everything stays in place and
[818]
our water feed stays where it's supposed to be I
[823]
Love it. I love it when a plan comes together
[826]
It's time to check out our finished project and put it all together. I filled up our water tank here
[833]
push in the slide
[836]
Close up our cabinet doors
[839]
Go over here and we'll turn on our pump, which is pretty cool. It even has a light
[846]
Yeah, I pulled eyes from the noise in the back of less rain. It had been raining non-stop for three days
[850]
Alright, so we'll turn it on
[860]
Even one is still in the low-speed. It's not allowed something. You can't really control the pressure here
[870]
Wonderful love it. Love it. Love it
[872]
You know
[873]
We take having a sink for granted and it looks so simple that people don't really appreciate everything that goes into making it work
[879]
So this is this is kind of an abbreviated system
[882]
You'll probably want to build something else, but you kind of get an idea for bits and pieces you might want to use
[886]
