Why dental implants hurt! - Dentist explains... - YouTube
Channel: Innovative Dental - Cosmetic & Implant Center
[0]
why do implants hurt why would an
[3]
implant hurt what makes it a painful
[6]
process and I think that's probably one
[9]
of the things most people think about
[10]
when they're contemplating if I'm gonna
[14]
replace a missing tooth with an implant
[16]
is you know what having a screw drilled
[21]
into my head not into that
[23]
so not gonna get an implant so they go
[26]
without a tooth there because the the
[28]
fear of the pain that's part of it
[31]
and another part might be that you're
[33]
not aware of the damage that's caused
[34]
when you don't have a tooth where you
[36]
used to have one obviously there's going
[38]
to be some shifting and then there's
[40]
going to have so the tooth behind will
[42]
shift forward and the tooth above will
[45]
shift down so those are the two kind of
[48]
main things that happens when you are
[50]
missing it - the other thing that might
[52]
occur when you're missing a tooth would
[55]
be the imbalance so I relate it to like
[58]
a vehicle if you had a an 18-wheeler a
[61]
truck going down the highway and I took
[64]
away a couple of the wheels it would
[66]
still get down the highway just just
[67]
fine as long as you're obvious not the
[69]
front - that steer but if I took them
[71]
away it would still be able to transfer
[74]
the load now if you take that same
[76]
vehicle in fast forward 10 20 years
[79]
without having that balance there's
[81]
gonna be a lot of problems abnormal wear
[84]
and damage to the structure of the
[87]
vehicle our mouth is no different so if
[89]
we're missing teeth there's there's
[90]
gonna be a real concern a real issue
[93]
with the balance and health of our
[97]
existing team so there's kind of a case
[100]
for why you would want to replace a
[102]
missing tooth so they're kind of holding
[105]
off on maybe getting an implant because
[107]
of fear or you're not fully
[109]
understanding some of the consequences
[111]
of missing it - we'll also show how I
[115]
can help you significantly here at
[117]
innovative
[117]
gentle to avoid the pain commonly
[120]
associated with an implant procedure so
[125]
to help explain that when you typically
[127]
are placing an implant you would be
[131]
placing it with a freehand approach
[134]
where you're visualizing the the tissue
[135]
and you're going to place the implant
[138]
with just vision and feel and when you
[141]
do that you're gonna have to obviously
[143]
be able to see which are placing your
[144]
implant into so the dentist
[148]
oral surgeon periodontists whoever's
[149]
placing that implant is going to make an
[152]
incision on the ridge of your bone and
[154]
they're gonna reflect back your the
[156]
tissue when they reflect that tissue
[159]
away from your bone now that tissue
[161]
obviously has to rehe l' back to the
[164]
bone that is why the post-op discomfort
[168]
and pain from an implant might be so
[170]
severe that's why there might want to
[172]
you might want to have a procedure where
[174]
you're sedated you're put under because
[177]
it's going to be a longer process it's
[179]
going to be more invasive and then the
[182]
recovery is more painful so innovative
[184]
dental prides ourself in using the
[186]
latest technology and techniques to help
[188]
avoid these things that are really
[191]
keeping people from experiencing the
[193]
benefit of modern day dentistry so and
[196]
obviously replacing the tooth and
[198]
getting healthy so this piece of
[200]
technology right here
[201]
pretty slick right you can put your head
[203]
in the middle of this and it rotates
[204]
around you may have seen something like
[206]
that at your dentist and maybe your
[209]
dentist does have this but most don't
[211]
that device might be called a panoramic
[214]
x-ray it really just takes a
[216]
two-dimensional picture of your jaw this
[219]
is a three-dimensional image so much
[221]
like a cat scan that you might get at at
[225]
a medical facility
[226]
this can take a one-pass image and get a
[230]
3d image of your job the 3d image that
[235]
we can get with this machine is allowing
[238]
us to visualize the bone and now that we
[241]
can visualize the bone there's no need
[242]
for that incision no need for the
[245]
incision means next to no bleeding
[247]
during the procedure we literally make a
[249]
little tissue punch something that's
[252]
similar like a three-ring binder so
[254]
you've ever seen one of those little
[255]
punch like that it's about that big and
[257]
it's about that small and it works
[260]
perfectly at giving us access to place
[262]
the implant since we already know what
[265]
the bone looks like we can use a guide
[267]
to place that implant exactly where we
[270]
want it with precision safety it's very
[274]
quick and it's painless and you're gonna
[277]
be like painless come on man you can't
[278]
place another land play painless well if
[281]
you may or may not even need Tylenol
[283]
that evening I would consider that
[285]
painless then for most of our patients
[287]
almost all of our patients that is what
[290]
they will explain is their experience
[291]
after doing over 450 implants I can tell
[296]
you with certainty that our patients
[298]
experience next to no discomfort post-op
[301]
pain because of this process of guided
[304]
implant placement so hopefully this was
[306]
useful implants can't hurt but they
[309]
don't have to here at innovative dental
[311]
