Is Didi Actually Chuckie's REAL MOM? (Rugrats Theory) - YouTube

Hey guys, it’s Frank here!

I feel like it’s been a while since I last ruined your childhood and since I’m long

overdue, I decided to release a new cartoon theory video.

For some reason, I love picking Chuckie from Rugrats as the person to base these theories

on, so expect this to be a Chuckie-centered video.

For long-time fans of Rugrats, you already know that Chuckie’s “mom” Melinda had

died shortly after his birth.

And it was only until several seasons later that Kira was introduced and he finally had

a mother again.

But what if I told you that Chuckie’s mom had never died?

No, not a zombie Melinda although that would be cool, but what if Didi was Chuckie’s real mother?

It is never stated what Melinda had died from but it is assumed that it was an illness,

possibly cancer or something chronic.

My theory suggests that Melinda has been sick for a while now and her dying wish was to

be a mother.

However, because she was too sick to carry a child for 9 months, is it possible she asked

her good friend and neighbor Didi to be a surrogate mother for her?

In surrogacy, there are two types – traditional and gestational.

In traditional surrogacy, Chuckie would look like Didi because she uses her own eggs to

give birth to a baby.

In gestational surrogacy, Chuckie would look like Melinda because Melinda’s eggs and

Chaz’s sperm are placed inside Didi’s uterus.

This isn’t too far off actually.

Let’s look at Didi and Melinda.

It’s hard to differentiate the two women because they are cartoon characters but similarly

they have orange hair just like Chuckie does.

One notable difference though, is that Melinda has big, round eyes.

Didi with her glasses off has small eyes.

Likewise, Chuckie with his glasses off has small eyes as does Chaz.

Here's a quick biology lesson -

If a mom with large eyes and a dad with small eyes has a baby, biologically they would have

a baby with large eyes because that is considered a dominant trait.

The only way a baby would have small eyes is if both parents have small eyes – just

like Didi and Chaz do.

Didi and Chaz also seem to have similar parenting styles and personalities, a mix of cautiousness

with neuroticness, similar to that of Chuckie’s.

This could also explain why Chuckie is always at Tommy’s house rather than Phil and Lil’s,

Angelica’s, or Susie’s.

With Melinda gone, Chuckie spending time with his “real” mother will allow for bonding

which I’m sure is mentioned by Lipschitz, the baby psychologist constantly mentioned

on Rugrats.

Did I mention that Chaz and Didi are also the only 2 parents on the show who idolize Lipschitz?

That can’t possibly be a coincidence either considering he is a bit weird and somewhat

of a quack.

So how would Stu feel about all this?

Because Chuckie is 2 years old and Tommy is only 1, it is possible that the surrogacy

occurred before Stu and Didi even met or married.

Knowing Stu though, I’m sure he was understanding of the situation which allowed the late Melinda

to experience being a mother before her untimely death.

It could also explain why Tommy and Chuckie are best friends and have such a great bond.

If this theory is correct, that would make them half-brothers and would explain their great relationship.

And now that I think about it, Melinda and Tommy do have similar eyes.

I wonder if there was some kinky spouse-swapping going on in the show?
