Height Shrinkage (Loss) during the Day - YouTube
Channel: unknown
[1]
Hi, Big Rob from Celeb Heights here.
[2]
In this video I'm going to show you my height,
from morning to evening, because we all wake
[8]
up taller and shrink during the day.
[10]
The effects of gravity on our spine mean the
water content of our discs seeps out a little bit
[15]
So when you've got like 20 discs, that tiny
amount adds up to maybe half an inch, maybe
[19]
even in some cases you could shrink a full inch.
[22]
But let's find how tall I am, literally a
few minutes out of bed.
[27]
It's just after 8 o'clock, and we'll check
our height a couple of times during the day
[32]
to see how much we shrink.
[34]
So I'm going to stand tall for each measurement.
[41]
So I'm literally 175., I think that's .3.
[48]
So it's now just after quarter past nine.
[50]
That's me been up an hour.
[52]
I've done the hair, put the make-up on, I've
even done the dishes.
[58]
But how much have I shrunk?
[62]
Let's find out.
[63]
Same again, standing tall.
[68]
So you can see that an hour out of bed I'm
not down to about 174.3 to 4, 174.3 to 4
[76]
So it's now nearly 10.30 and I've been up
just over 2 hours now.
[80]
In the first hour you saw I shrank a good
centimetre, so in this second hour, let's find
[86]
out how much I shrank.
[87]
I've just been on the computer, doing some
CelebHeights stuff.
[92]
So let's check it out.
[95]
Standing tall.
[101]
So after the second hour, I have shrunk nothing.
[105]
I'm still just about 174.3
[109]
So it's now 12 o'clock and for the last hour
[112]
and a half I've been out and about.
[115]
I was down at the shops, getting some messages.
[117]
So I've been quite active on my feet compared
to the previous hour, where we've just been
[121]
sitting at the computer.
[121]
So let's find out at 12 o'clock, which is
nearly 4 hours out of bed what Height I am.
[127]
Standing tall.
[134]
So at 12 o'clock, just under 4 hours out of
bed, 174 centimetres on the nose.
[140]
So it's now quarter past 2 and that's me been
up for 6 hours.
[144]
In the last couple of hours I've just been
out for a walk and doing
[148]
bits and bobs around the house.
[149]
So I've been on my feet.
[151]
The last time we checked, was 12 o'clock,
I was 174 centimetres.
[154]
Let's see what I am at 6 hours out of bed.
[158]
So same again, standing tall.
[166]
So now 6 hours out of bed, you can see I've
dropped another couple of millimetres.
[170]
I'm now at 173.8.
[172]
So it's just gone half Five and it's been
about 3 hours since my last measurement.
[177]
I've just been at the computer doing some
work and a few bits around the house.
[183]
Nothing to taxing on my spine.
[185]
So let's find out.
[187]
Same again, standing tall.
[196]
So just past half past five and I would say
that is 173.7 or maybe 173.7 to 173.8
[205]
So it's just about 10 past 8.
[207]
And I'm going to do a final measurement.
[210]
I've just been out for a short walk and watching
a television programme.
[215]
So let's find out what we are.
[219]
Standing tall.
[224]
So at ten past 8 I actually creeped back up
a couple of millimetres to nearer 173.9.
[231]
So at 8 o'clock this morning I started off
at 175.3 and I quite quickly shrunk down in
[238]
the first hour or two and by lunchtime, about
2 o'clock I was kind of at my low, 173.7ish,
[245]
173.8.
[247]
Then the same again at tea-time, but by evening
I sat down and watched a programme, went for
[253]
a short walk and I actually creeped back up
a couple of millimetres, which isn't uncommon.
[257]
I found that in the past, I've managed to
stay the same or even slightly increase a little bit
[263]
maybe your back on the couch isn't under as
much stress as it is maybe sitting at the
[267]
computer, or just pottering about the house.
[273]
So my shrinkage was about 1.5cm or 0.6 inches.
[277]
Now that's a typical day for me.
[279]
If it was a more active day, say I had a job...a
standing job or a job involving lifting or
[287]
something that involved rotating the spine,
that might put more stress on your spine,
[292]
on your discs and you might shrink faster and
to a lower height.
[297]
I mean today I was nearly 5 foot 8 and 3/8ths
on the stadiometer.
[303]
I didn't drop down to 5 foot 8 and a quarter
or even lower.
[309]
On some days, if I'm quite active I might
drop down a few more millimetres.
[315]
On average, people can shrink about 0.7 inches,
1.8, 1.9 centimetres.
[321]
I'll show you a little graph of my own shrinkage
from morning till night
[333]
