Namaskar, my name is Mukul and welcome to asset Yogi.
[15]
Where we unlock finance knowledge
[19]
In this video, I am going to talk about a very simple but very important concept
[25]
Related to the share market, we will talk about a very basic topic
[28]
What is share price and what is market capitalization
[32]
You will understand its concept.
[33]
You may find it quite simple to hear,
[36]
But let me tell you that many educated people also do not understand these things.
[42]
There are many people in my family also who have invested at the behest of someone else.
[47]
And they have lost thousands and lakhs
[50]
And I think you will also have many such examples.
[53]
For example, suppose there are two companies
[56]
So the stock of a company is worth ₹50.
[58]
And the share of another company is ₹ 500
[61]
So many people think that if there is a share of ₹ 50
[64]
then its tendency to go up to ₹ 500 is very high.
[68]
There are chances of getting more growth.
[70]
Maybe a share of ₹ 500 can go up to 5000 in a very long time.
[73]
But is this the right comparison?
[75]
In this video, you will understand that this is not the right comparison at all.
[79]
And exactly what is meant by the share price
[82]
and what is meant by market capitalization.
[84]
I will explain this to you with a comparison also.
[86]
If You Buy Real Estate, How you can buy?
[89]
But you make big mistakes when you invest in the stocks market
[94]
you probably don't compare well
[96]
stock market investment, I also give you this example,
[100]
That is equivalent to swimming in the sea.
[102]
Because when you swim in the sea,
[105]
So the tide and the waves also come in the sea
[108]
And the water is salty too,
[110]
If you do not know swimming then
[111]
First, you have to learn the strokes
[115]
You will be swimming in Shell Water.
[117]
You will learn floating,
[119]
Then you will go to the deep water inside the swimming pool.
[122]
And then there is the final stage when you can think of swimming in the sea
[126]
Similarly, you should know the basics of the share market first.
[129]
After that, if you invest then I am sure that you will be able to earn very good returns
[134]
So without any delay let us understand
[136]
what are share price and market capitalization
[138]
Let's go straight to the blackboard.
[140]
Let us understand share price and market capitalization with an example
[145]
Suppose there are two companies, one company name is ABC Company
[149]
and the other company is XYZ company
[151]
Now there is a slight difference in the share price of both.
[154]
The share price of ABC company is ₹10
[160]
So the per-share price is ₹10.
[162]
And the price of one share of another company which is XYZ is ₹ 100
[169]
So here I write that ₹ 10 is per share price
[172]
And this is also a Per share price
[174]
So many people will think that this share is only ₹ 10,
[178]
It is cheap so we buy more of it.
[181]
Chances of its growth will increase,
Because on today's date its price is cheap.
[185]
And since this share is worth ₹ 100, its price is already very high.
[189]
So we do not buy this stock, the chances of its growth are very less.
[193]
But is it a right comparison?
[195]
No, this is not a correct comparison at all.
[198]
Because here we don't have complete information
[201]
So we cannot say which stock is cheap and which stock is expensive.
[205]
Let me explain this to you with an example
[207]
Suppose if you go to buy a house,
If we compare prices,
[215]
Let's say the value of one house is Rs.30,00,000
[218]
And the value of the second house is ₹ 50,00,000.
[221]
So here's how you will say which house is cheaper
[224]
Again, there is also very less information
[226]
So here we require the information of what is the area of the house.
[234]
Suppose the area of both is also equal
[239]
Let's assume the area of both is a thousand square feet.
[243]
Now in the next information, you will calculate its price per square feet
[249]
So you will divide this ₹ 3,000,000 by 1000.
[252]
So your price per square feet will be 3000
[256]
And here your price square per feet will come to be 5000.
[260]
Still, you will say that this 3000 is costing me less.
[264]
This 5000 one is expensive,
[266]
No, This information is still less
[268]
Now the second information you need is at which location it is
[272]
Let's say this house A is in a Tier 2 city
[277]
Let's assume Kanpur
[279]
and house B in Delhi NCR.
[283]
Now it is obvious that the prices are low in Kanpur city.
[287]
And the price is high in Delhi NCR,
[289]
So how would you compare now?
[291]
Now you need one more piece of information that what is the average price in a city like Kanpur
[296]
Let's assume the average price there is ₹ 2500
[300]
if you're looking in Delhi NCR
[303]
Average price in that area is ₹7000
[307]
Now tell me which property is cheap
[309]
and which property is expensive.
[310]
At the location of Kanpur where you are buying a house.
[314]
There the average price is Rs 2500.
[316]
And you are going to buy it at ₹3000 per square feet
[320]
So this is not a cheap deal for you.
[322]
Similarly in the Delhi NCR location, your average price is Rs 7000
[328]
And it is cheaper for you in comparison to Rs 7,000.
[331]
So it is natural that you will go with ₹5000 per square feet.
[334]
So if you have 50,00,000 rupees.
[337]
So you will invest in this house which you are getting for ₹ 5000 square per feet.
[343]
Because the chances of its price increase are very high.
[347]
The chances of going from ₹ 5000 to ₹ 7000 are very high.
[351]
The thing which you are already buying is expensive, So how much will it increase?
[355]
You are already buying at more than the market price.
[358]
because ₹2500 is the average market price
[359]
And you are buying for ₹3000.
[361]
The same concept is applicable in the share market
[364]
You cannot tell whether it is expensive or cheap just by looking at the share price.
[368]
you need other information like how much is the floated number of shares of that company
[373]
Suppose this ABC company Can float any number of shares
[377]
It can float one lakh shares
[379]
It can also float ₹1 crore to 10 crores shares.
[382]
Let's say that the total number of shares the company has floated is ₹1 crore.
[386]
And let's say the total number of shares the XYZ company has floated 5 crore
[391]
Now we need more information
[395]
Now we will calculate market capitalisation
[398]
What is market capitalization?
[400]
Share price is multiplied by the number of shares
[404]
So what it becomes
[406]
When you multiply share price with the number of shares
[409]
Then the market value comes of the company
[413]
So the total number of shares is 1 crore
[415]
You multiplied it with the price of one share
[418]
So what is the total value of ABC company
[421]
So the total valuation of that company is 10 crore rupees
[426]
You will also do the multiplication in the XYZ company.
[429]
So what is its total value
[431]
Its value is Rs 500 crore
[433]
So can you compare these two companies with each other?
[436]
No, you cannot.
[438]
Because this is a very small company.
[440]
And this one is a very big company
[442]
Their sectors can also be different.
[444]
Maybe it's a cable manufacturing company or a printing company
[448]
Maybe a company of Rs 500 crores is a software company.
[452]
Maybe a company of Rs 500 crore may grow very quickly if the economy goes well
[456]
So when you want to call share price expensive or cheap
[460]
So you should compare a lot of things
[463]
you compare, and what things do you compare
[467]
There are many things like what is the price earning ratio
[471]
What's its price to book value ratio
[474]
There are many such comparisons.
[477]
like how much is the debt of that company
[478]
We will discuss these things in future videos.
[481]
but I hope at least you must have understood market capitalization and share price.
[487]
See when you talk about Sensex
[490]
You must hear about Sensex so let me tell you
[493]
the top 30 companies in the Sensex according to the market capitalization
[498]
This means the top 30 companies
[501]
Sensex consist of top 30 company according to market capitalisation
[505]
So in that the top thirty companies' value is taken.
[508]
Similarly in the Nifty, the value of top 50 companies
[511]
according to market capitalization is taken
[515]
Now if we talk about the most valued company in India
[518]
So Reliance was the most valued company for a very long time.
[521]
Which has just been replaced by TCS
[523]
So when you are talking about the value remember
[526]
You are talking about market cap
[530]
We will also its market cap in short
[532]
We talk about market capitalization when we talk about the value of a company
[537]
And second, you should not get confused between market value and book value.
[542]
Book value is the value according to accounting.
[545]
And the market cap is basically the market value
[549]
Based on the market, as here I have written
[553]
the value of a company that is traded on the stock market
[555]
That value is your market capitalisation
[559]
And as we have seen in the formula, you multiply the share price by the number of shares.
[564]
So you will get the market capitalisation
[565]
I hope you must have clearly understood the market capitalisation and share price
[570]
Now in the next video, we will talk about large-cap midcap and smallcap
[574]
What is their definition?
[576]
do they have an exact definition
[578]
Does this definition vary? People get very confused about this too.
[582]
