[2]
hey welcome to day trade Dwayne calm if
[5]
you haven't lived under a rock for the
[6]
past few weeks you might have heard that
[8]
the CME Group has released the micro
[12]
emini futures these are equity index
[15]
futures contracts and they're small
[18]
we now have micro emini contracts for
[20]
the S&P 500 nasdaq 100 the dow and
[24]
russell 2000 there are many reasons for
[27]
day trading in micro mini futures and
[29]
the first reason is that you can trade
[31]
the SMP 500 even if you have a small
[34]
account size trading is probably the
[37]
only occupation we can start with a
[39]
small amount of money and become a
[41]
millionaire within a short period of
[43]
time now that's not going to be easy but
[46]
compared to setting up a lemonade stand
[47]
or trying to become pro football player
[50]
the potential is definitely there
[52]
because you can scale up and grow so
[54]
easily and let your profits compound
[57]
with the micro mini futures traders with
[60]
small accounts can now also start equity
[63]
index day trading so let's take the S&P
[65]
500 contract as an example because the
[68]
SMP 500 that's the most popular one so
[72]
there are now three futures contracts
[74]
that you can use to trade the SMP 500
[76]
first you have what is called the big
[79]
contract which is tracking the SMP 500
[81]
with the symbol SP it's notional value
[85]
is 250 dollars times the S&P 500 index
[90]
so that's the value that a position of
[93]
theoretically controls the agreed upon
[95]
amount in a contract the value of the
[97]
S&P 500 index is currently somewhere
[100]
around 2,800 so the big contracts
[103]
notional value is 250 times 2,800 which
[107]
equals seven hundred thousand dollars so
[110]
pay seven hundred thousand dollars and
[112]
you would own one contract but in
[115]
real-life futures contracts are traded
[116]
on margin so you wouldn't need to
[118]
actually pay the seven hundred thousand
[120]
to trade still the big contract is
[122]
expensive and it's mostly institutional
[125]
traders that would trade it that's why
[128]
the CME Group introduced the e-mini S&P
[131]
500 in nineteen
[132]
97 so it's more than 20 years old this
[136]
is the second future contract for the
[138]
S&P 500 and the notional value for the
[141]
iminium is 1/5 of the big contract so 50
[145]
dollars times the value of the S&P 500
[147]
index so currently somewhere around
[150]
140,000 dollars again you don't have to
[154]
pay $140,000 to trade as you trade on
[156]
margin he would only pay a small amount
[159]
in order to trade the SMP 500 the e-mini
[163]
contract but the requirements are much
[165]
smaller than the big contract and that's
[168]
why the e-mini S&P 500 has been so
[170]
popular to trade because it's accessible
[173]
to so many retail traders and now we
[177]
also have the micro emini futures and
[180]
trading the sp500 is now possible for
[182]
even more traders the notional value of
[185]
the micro mini is one tenth of the big
[188]
contract so one contract of the micro
[191]
controls five dollars times 2,800 which
[195]
is fourteen thousand dollars but you
[197]
only need an account with a fraction of
[199]
that amount in order to be trading the
[201]
micro emini futures there has been a
[204]
huge interest in the micros and I think
[206]
more and more traders will start trading
[208]
futures now more forex traders will
[211]
switch the futures and you know it's a
[213]
little bit more sophisticated to trade
[215]
futures than to trade Forex many people
[218]
consider forex trading to be some sort
[220]
of a get-rich-quick scheme while futures
[223]
trading is definitely a sophisticated
[225]
and respectable occupation and it's
[227]
super awesome that our day trading
[229]
strategies work just as well with the
[230]
micro emini s de meanness and the big
[234]
contracts another huge benefit of the
[237]
microbes is scaling the ability to scale
[240]
you can scale up your positions more
[241]
easily so nice thing about the micro
[244]
even futures is that even if you have a
[246]
bigger account size you can now also
[248]
easily add contracts to your position
[251]
say you don't have a big account and you
[253]
have been trading with a position size
[254]
of one contracts of de meaning which is
[257]
common for beginners it's difficult to
[259]
grow because going from one contracts to
[261]
two contracts would be a big change
[263]
that's a 200% position size in
[266]
but now with the micro Yemenis you can
[268]
go from 10 contracts to 11 to 12 to 13
[271]
and 14 and so on and build your account
[274]
size and position size more easily
[275]
without the stress of trading that much
[277]
bigger positions and you know trading
[280]
psychology can really mess up your
[281]
trading so the less you stress out about
[283]
your position size the better and you
[285]
can also add more money to winning
[288]
trades sometimes traders establish a
[290]
small position and if they're as
[292]
analysis was right and the market moves
[294]
in his or her favor they would add more
[297]
to that position and in my own trading
[299]
I've been using the idea of establishing
[301]
the position in thirds I would enter a
[303]
position with 1/3 of the capital I would
[306]
add another third once the position
[308]
proves itself and then add the final
[310]
third a little bit later as the market
[312]
moves in my favor and by doing that I
[315]
don't risk as much initially but I still
[317]
gain a lot when the market makes a big
[319]
move many of our traders that start out
