Planning your marketing budget in 6 steps FOR NEWBIES - YouTube
Channel: AliDropship
[0]
To get sales, you need to promote your store.
[2]
But what exactly you should spend your money
on?
[4]
In this video, I will teach you how to make
a marketing budget plan in six simple steps.
[11]
Hi there!
[12]
My name is Olesia, and youāre watching AliDropship
channel.
[14]
AliDropship is a plugin that turns WordPress
websites into dropshipping stores.
[19]
If you havenāt heard of it, watch this video.
[22]
Now letās get to the point: how to plan
your marketing budget.
[25]
What is a marketing budget?
[27]
A marketing budget is how much money you expect
to spend on advertising within a specific
[31]
time frame.
[32]
As for digital marketing, we usually include
these:
[35]
content marketing
promotion in social media
[37]
email marketing
branding
[39]
search engine optimization
and affiliate marketing
[42]
Even if your budget is limited, I suggest
that you try different channels before choosing
[46]
the best ones.
[47]
Set your marketing goals
You canāt know what roads to take if you
[52]
donāt know where you are going.
[54]
So setting a goal is very important.
[56]
But there are good goals and bad ones.
[58]
For example: āI want to make my e-commerce
store more popular.ā
[62]
That is a poor one because itās too vague.
[65]
You canāt measure the results.
[66]
Another example: āI want to attract 500
unique visitors each month.ā
[70]
Thatās a good one.
[72]
It has clear numbers I can measure, itās
time-bound, and itās specific.
[74]
Itās a common practice to set not one, but
two or three goals and spread your marketing
[80]
budget between them.
[81]
Once you have a clear objective, you can predict
what promotion channels will bring the best
[86]
results.
[87]
For example, if I dropship drone parts, Iād
prefer focusing on search engine optimization.
[92]
So if someone is looking for a drone part
in my region, they will see my website first.
[97]
And thatāll be my marketing goal.
[99]
If I dropship enamel pins, SEO isnāt the
best channel: itās the kind of product people
[103]
are more likely to buy impulsively.
[106]
Enamel pins are bright and pretty, and their
photos will do great on Facebook or Instagram.
[110]
So, I will create social media pages and try
to attract a certain number of followers.
[116]
Thatās my objective.
[117]
With some followers, my page will look real
and trustworthy.
[120]
I will start promoting my store with Instagram
ads and Shoutouts.
[124]
Determine the overall marketing budget
Now that you have a clear goal, itās time
[129]
to set your total marketing budget.
[131]
Marketers recommend spending 5% of your total
revenue on maintaining the current position
[136]
and 12% if you want your business to grow.
[139]
But if you work in a highly competitive niche,
you might have to spend up to 20% on advertising.
[144]
If itās your first campaign, I recommend
taking $100 to test different channels.
[149]
If you want to learn more about how much should
you spend, check out my previous video.
[154]
By the way!
[155]
Itās time to choose promotion channels.
[156]
So whatever budget you set, each of them may
require a different sum of money.
[162]
Choosing marketing channels
Actually, nobody can say what marketing tools
[166]
will work for you.
[167]
It depends both on your preferences and talents.
[170]
But if youāre a beginner, choosing Instagram,
Facebook, and Google Shopping is a good plan.
[175]
Niche is important too.
[177]
For example, enamel pins have great potential
for promotion via visual channels.
[181]
So I would choose Instagram, Facebook, and
Pinterest.
[185]
Here Iāll have to spend money on advertising
and ad design.
[188]
By the way, if youāre having a hard time
deciding what to do for social media promotion,
[192]
you can ask our team for help.
[194]
They will make banners for you and provide
tips on what to write in advertising text.

[200]
Back to promotion channels.
[202]
If my niche is drone parts, I would want to
use search engine optimization.
[206]
Google Adwords and Facebook advertising will
help too.
[209]
Therefore, Iāll spend money on articles,
optimization, and ads.
[213]
Dividing your marketing budget
Now you have a goal and a budget, and you
[217]
know what channels to use.
[218]
So itās time to decide how to share the
money between these channels.
[222]
To do that, you can set a daily budget for
each of them.
[225]
If youāre a newcomer, use Facebook and Instagram
ads in the beginning.
[228]
Since these networks now belong to the same
company, you can advertise on both.
[233]
These are what Iāll use for my enamel pins,
but I have to decide how to split my budget.
[237]
Iād say Iāll spend $40 on Facebook and
$60 on Instagram.
[241]
That should work!
[242]
For my drone parts, Iāll split my marketing
budget between Google Adwords and Facebook.
[248]
$30 here, and $70 here.
[254]
Thereās no guarantee the advertising will
work perfectly from the start.
[258]
So you have to monitor and analyze your progress.
[260]
Itās a good idea to check such websites
as Reddit.
[264]
It can show you what people are talking about
right now or what memes are going viral.
[268]
Use these ideas in your campaign.
[271]
Analyze results and make changes
When the campaign is over, itās time to
[275]
analyze the results.
[276]
To do that, you can do the following:
Use UTM codes to track where your traffic
[281]
is coming from
Use email marketing software to measure open
[285]
rate, click rate and the number of unsubscribes
And use built-in analytics to measure likes,
[291]
shares, and comments on your social media
posts and ads.
[293]
This data will show you whether you have achieved
your goal.
[297]
If not, the campaign definitely needs some
changes.
[299]
For example, if Facebook doesn't bring solid
results after my drone campaign, I can try
[304]
creating expert content and then send it via
email to those who showed interest.
[309]
After that, I can offer them my products.
[311]
You can learn how to collect emails from potential
customers by watching this video.
[316]
Another example.
[317]
For my enamel pins, I could redefine my target
audience.
[320]
I will exclude those who liked my posts on
Facebook but didnāt convert and focus on
[325]
those who did to create a lookalike audience
and target it.
[328]
If itās successful, I can also decide if
Iām ready to spend more money or not yet.
[332]
I hope this instruction will help you plan
your marketing budget.
