Sabbat E16 vs The Best! (Status, Edifier, Lypertek) - YouTube

Channel: EL JEFE REVIEWS

[0]
- [Narrator] The Sabbat E16 have arrived
[2]
and they are a noticeable step up in performance
[5]
from their previous model, the Sabbat E12.
[8]
Packing an all new driver design, long battery life,
[11]
along with a dedicated gaming mode,
[13]
making these a truly versatile set of true wireless earbuds.
[16]
In this video, I'll be giving you my complete review
[19]
along with comparisons
[20]
to some of the top multi driver earbuds on the market,
[24]
the Status Audio Between Pro, the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro+,
[27]
the Lypertek PurePlay Z7, and the Edifier NeoBuds Pro.
[33]
Now, for transparency and for full disclosure,
[35]
Sabbat sent out the E16 for my honest opinion and review.
[39]
The means by which I received these products
[40]
does not color my review or comparisons in any way.
[44]
No other compensation was involved
[46]
and no one was able to see this video
[47]
prior to it being published.
[49]
So in other words, the brands will be seeing this video
[51]
at the exact same time that you are.
[53]
So now, let's not waste any more time.
[55]
So first, let's talk about the connection and pairing.
[58]
So these are run in Bluetooth 5.2.
[60]
And they use AAC, SBC, and aptX as their connection codecs,
[64]
making these fully compatible
[66]
with both Android and iOS devices.
[69]
When it comes to Bluetooth range,
[70]
I got right about 35 feet or 10 and a half meters.
[73]
Now, obviously, this is gonna vary
[75]
based on how many walls or obstructions
[77]
you put in between the earbuds
[78]
and the device that they're connected to.
[80]
Now, these are also featuring dual connect,
[82]
or what's known as independent usage mode.
[84]
And that's basically,
[85]
where you can use these earbuds individually
[87]
while the other one is left charge in its case.
[90]
There's a lot of people who do that.
[91]
So if you're that type of person,
[93]
these are gonna have you covered.
[94]
Now, when it comes to watching videos,
[96]
lag, latency, anything along those lines.
[98]
When you're watching your YouTube videos
[100]
or Hulu, Netflix, Disney+,
[102]
whatever app you might be running,
[103]
there is little to no latency to be had with these earbuds.
[107]
And that's both on Android and on iOS devices.
[111]
And to be clear, I do test
[112]
with both of those operating systems
[114]
to ensure full compatibility with these products.
[117]
Now on the topic of latency,
[119]
let's move over to the gaming side of things.
[122]
So these do feature a dedicated gaming mode
[125]
that brings that latency down to as low as 45 milliseconds.
[128]
This does make a noticeable difference
[130]
in first person shooter gaming.
[133]
Now, if you're playing things like Call of Duty,
[135]
Fortnite, PUBG, things of that nature,
[137]
you're definitely gonna notice that improvement
[139]
in performance.
[140]
Now, can you still sense a little bit of latency?
[142]
Of course, 45 milliseconds,
[143]
you can still sorta hear that delay.
[146]
But, it's such a great improvement over the regular mode
[149]
that it makes it much less distracting,
[151]
so you can be more immersed into your game.
[154]
Now, if you're just gonna be playing some casual games,
[156]
Asphalt 9, maybe Pokemon Go,
[159]
1945 or Boom Beach, whatever those types of games are,
[162]
just casual games.
[163]
Then, I would probably go ahead
[164]
and leave that gaming mode turned off
[166]
'cause for that, it's really not necessary.
[168]
Now remember, another reason
[170]
to leave that gaming mode turned off
[171]
is because it negatively affects your connection stability
[174]
and your battery life.
[175]
So you definitely wanna use it sparingly,
[177]
or especially, only used it in those instances
[180]
where you're gonna be playing those
[181]
like hardcore first-person shooter games.
[183]
It will really come in handy for that.
[184]
Now, on the topic of the battery.
[186]
They were claiming six to eight hours
[187]
on a single charge, with an additional 20 hours in the case.
[190]
In my own actual testing,
[192]
I managed to get seven hours and 57 minutes,
[194]
and that was at 75% volume.
[197]
As far as recharging the earbuds,
[199]
it took about one hour to fully recharge them.
[201]
As far as recharging the case itself,
[203]
they do have a USB Type-C port,
[205]
along with wireless charging.
[207]
So you've got both options, whichever suits your needs.
[210]
Now when comparing this case,
[211]
to the one of the previous model, the Sabbat E12,
[214]
this one's a bit shorter, but it's also a bit wider.
[217]
But for me, personally, it's a bit more pocketable.
[219]
So definitely an improvement in my personal opinion.
[222]
The fit and the finish of it,
[223]
definitely feels a bit more premium.
[225]
Now, these are available in four colors,
[227]
all in that sparkle, metallic paint.
[229]
So you do have some options,
[231]
if you wanna kinda get something
[233]
that's more suitable to your own personal style.
[235]
The buds themselves are still a similar shape and size
[238]
to the original Sabbat E12s.
[240]
Now, before we move into the next section.
[241]
If you're into wireless earbuds, headphones,
[243]
and things of that nature,
[244]
make sure you hit that Subscribe button for me.
[246]
Did you know that 80% of the people watching my videos
[249]
aren't even subscribed?
[251]
Helped me change that.
[252]
I'm trying to build a welcoming and positive community
[255]
around audio technology.
[256]
I'd love it if you would join me.
[258]
So now, let's get into the comfort and the controls.
[260]
So first up, these have a very comfortable fit
[264]
with no ear fatigue in my testing.
[266]
Now, I do have larger ears.
[268]
So that's something that you definitely wanna be aware of.
[271]
So in my opinion, these are gonna be good for large ears,
[274]
good for medium ears.
[275]
But you are gonna wanna be a bit careful
[277]
if you have smaller ears.
[279]
But sadly, the only way to really find out
[281]
if they're gonna work for you
[282]
is to try them for yourself.
[283]
Now, on the topic of sleeping with your earbuds.
[286]
These are gonna be excellent for back sleepers.
[288]
For side sleepers, it's gonna be a bit sketchy,
[290]
just depending on your own comfort levels.
[292]
For me, side sleep was a no-go.
[294]
It was pushing them straight into my ear.
[296]
Didn't feel too good.
[297]
So that was definitely a not gonna happen for me.
[300]
And I'm a side sleeper, so definitely a no-no.
[303]
Now, when it comes to the controls.
[305]
These are using button controls
[306]
similar to the previous model.
[308]
They're still very responsive, very clicky.
[311]
So no issues with that, whatsoever.
[312]
And you do get full controls over everything,
[315]
volume, Smart Assistant, gaming mode,
[317]
skip track, forward and back,
[319]
all of it, right there on the earbuds.
[321]
Now, in order to control these effectively,
[323]
you're gonna wanna go ahead
[324]
and use that pinch and hold technique.
[326]
This way, you're not just jabbing them
[327]
straight into your ears.
[329]
So now, let's move over into the performance.
[331]
So first, let's talk about the volume.
[333]
So these are getting a 10 out of 10 on my volume scale,
[338]
and that is what I refer to as dummy loud.
[340]
Like these get way too loud for your boy, Jefe.
[344]
So if you're a volume junkie or somebody's hard of hearing,
[347]
they're absolutely gonna have you covered.
[349]
Now for me, comfortable listening with these
[350]
comes in right around 50% to like maybe 70% at max.
[355]
So usually, coming in somewhere between 50 and 60%.
[357]
So excellent volume with a ton of overhead
[360]
if you run into some video with like some low dialogue.
[363]
Totally, totally got you covered on the volume department.
[366]
Now, on the topic of sound quality.
[367]
These are using a custom balanced membrane driver.
[371]
What exactly that means?
[372]
I don't know.
[373]
But that's something you guys can probably research
[376]
or Google for yourself to try to figure it out.
[378]
They didn't give me a lot of literature
[379]
or a lot of specs on that,
[380]
so not much more than I can say beyond that.
[383]
It is similar and it gives you the features
[386]
of a dynamic driver with the response of a balance armature.
[390]
So the sound quality is very similar
[392]
to a hybrid dual driver type of true wireless earbud.
[396]
And that's what the sound quality reminds me of.
[398]
It has the the low hitting bass,
[400]
but it also gives you a lot of clarity in the sound.
[403]
So very similar to a dual driver setup.
[405]
So now, let's break it down, the bass.
[408]
So these have excellent bass response.
[411]
Strong sub-bass rumble that you can really feel,
[414]
and it's not boomy, and it's not bloated.
[416]
It has a nice, quick punch to it as well.
[419]
So overall, the bass on these is excellent.
[422]
Now, Sabbat was known with the E12s
[424]
as being the bass king for your budget.
[426]
And these definitely don't disappoint
[429]
when it comes to that bass.
[431]
Now, as far as the track that I use the test them,
[433]
I was using the song called "North Cack," by G Yamazawa.
[437]
That track is off the hook.
[439]
It has that Southern bounce vibe to it,
[441]
but the beat is very boom bap style.
[444]
So if you've never heard it,
[445]
you definitely need to add that to your playlist.
[447]
So now, let's move over to the mids.
[449]
So the mids are very present, smooth, and very clear.
[453]
Excellent vocal clarity here,
[454]
with some pretty decent soundstage
[456]
for a set of true wireless earbuds.
[458]
There's even some pretty decent instruments separation
[461]
going on here when you're listening to live music.
[464]
When it comes to the song that I tested with,
[466]
it was "Fly for Your Life," by Gunship.
[468]
And if you're into that retrowave, synthwave type of music,
[472]
you definitely wanna check out this song.
[474]
It is absolutely excellent.
[477]
Clear vocals,
[478]
and it's got that old school, eighties kind of retro vibe
[481]
that I'm totally all about.
[483]
Now, moving over to the treble.
[485]
Nice and crisp, not too bright, and it's not fatiguing.
[489]
You actually have some pretty decent detail retrieval
[491]
here as well.
[492]
And overall, the sound and imaging
[494]
is actually surprisingly good.
[496]
Especially, when you start considering
[497]
the price tag of these,
[498]
coming in at just under a hundred bucks.
[501]
Now, as far as the test song for the treble,
[503]
I was using "Who's Loving You," by the Jackson 5.
[506]
Now this is an old school track, but when you hear it,
[509]
you can really hear the analog of the band.
[511]
You hear the drum snares.
[512]
You hear Michael's voice,
[514]
and the chorus coming through from the Jackson brothers
[516]
so excellent.
[518]
Overall, just excellent sound quality here.
[521]
Now, if I have to give them any sort of negatives or cons,
[523]
a little bit of feedback, if anything,
[525]
the lack of an ambient mode.
[526]
That really would have been crucial here.
[528]
Even without active noise cancellation,
[529]
just having that ambient sound
[531]
is always a good feature to have.
[533]
Secondly, there is no app support on these guys.
[535]
Now I wasn't expecting it,
[537]
but it would have been nice to see.
[538]
That kinda would have been kinda cool,
[540]
considering the competition is delivering app support
[543]
for a lot of their earbuds.
[544]
And then last but not least,
[546]
it's gonna be that microphone quality.
[548]
But more on that, when the microphone call quality samples
[551]
come up towards the end of this video.
[553]
So now, let's move into the comparison portion.
[555]
And for this comparison, just like I said before,
[557]
we've got Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro+,
[559]
the Lypertek PurePlay Z7, the Status Audio Between Pro,
[563]
and the Edifier NeoBuds Pro.
[566]
The reason I'm comparing these
[568]
to all of those multi-driver earbuds
[570]
is because of Sabbat E16, they deliver sound quality
[574]
like a dual driver or a hybrid type of earbud.
[577]
That's what they sound like to me.
[579]
So pitting them up against your standard earbuds
[581]
kind of felt unfair.
[583]
So I wanted to sort of even the playing field
[585]
to make sure that we had a good competition.
[588]
Now, just to be clear, the Edifier NeoBuds Pro
[590]
are the only ones with noise cancellation.
[592]
So I'm gonna not rank them for ANC
[594]
since those were the only ones who have it.
[596]
We're gonna rank them for ambient, volume,
[598]
and sound quality.
[599]
So now, the rankings.
[601]
First up, ambient sound.
[603]
Number one, you've got the NeoBuds Pro.
[605]
Number two, you've got the Liberty 2 Pro+.
[607]
Number three, you've got the PurePlay Z7.
[611]
Sadly, the E16 don't have ambient sound.
[613]
So they were left out of that ranking.
[615]
So now, the volume ranking.
[616]
And in first place, you've got the Status Audio Between Pro.
[620]
Number two, you've got the Sabbat E16s.
[623]
Number three, you've got the Liberty 2 Pro+.
[626]
Number four, you've got the PurePlay Z7.
[628]
Number five, you've got the NeoBuds Pro.
[631]
Now, to be clear,
[632]
just because one is number one
[633]
and the other one is number five,
[635]
it doesn't mean that any of these are quiet.
[636]
All of them are far too loud for me as is,
[639]
so you're not gonna have any issues with volume
[641]
on any of these earbuds.
[644]
So now, a sound quality ranking.
[646]
In first place, we've got the Status Audio Between Pro.
[650]
In second place, the Lypertek PurePlay Z7.
[653]
In third place, the Edifier NeoBuds Pro.
[656]
In fourth place, the Sabbat E16.
[659]
And in fifth place, the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro+.
[663]
So all of these are bringing you excellent sound quality
[667]
for the money.
[668]
So now, let's get into some mic quality samples.
[671]
And this way, you can hear how they sound for yourself
[674]
and decide whether or not that's gonna work for you.
[677]
All right, so here we have the mic quality test
[679]
for the Sabbat E16.
[681]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[684]
So this is what you get
[685]
from a semi quiet indoor environment.
[688]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[690]
So here we have the mic quality test
[692]
for the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro+.
[695]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[697]
Obviously, we're indoors in a semi quiet room.
[700]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[702]
All right, so here we have the mic quality test
[704]
for the Status Audio Between Pro.
[706]
Obviously, we are indoors in a semi quiet environment.
[709]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[712]
And here we have the mic quality test
[714]
for the Lypertek PurePlay Z7.
[717]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[719]
Obviously, indoors once again, in a semi quiet room.
[721]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[724]
All right, so here we have the mic quality test
[726]
for the Edifier NeoBuds Pro.
[728]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[730]
Obviously, indoors once again, in a semi quiet room.
[733]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[736]
So, here we have the Sabbat E16
[738]
in a simulated crowd noise environment.
[739]
So maybe like a busy train station or maybe a crowded cafe,
[743]
something along those lines.
[745]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[747]
And here we have the mic quality tests
[749]
for the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro+
[751]
in a simulated crowd noise environment.
[753]
So maybe like a crowded restaurant or maybe a busy bar,
[757]
something like that.
[758]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[760]
And here we have the Status Audio Between Pro
[763]
in a simulated crowd noise environment.
[765]
So like a crowded cafe or maybe a busy bus station,
[768]
something like that.
[769]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[771]
And here we have the Lypertek PurePlay Z7
[774]
in simulated crowd noise environment.
[776]
Similar to a crowded train station or maybe a busy cafe,
[780]
something along those lines.
[782]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[785]
All right, here we have the NeoBuds Pro
[787]
in a simulated crowd noise environment.
[790]
So like a crowded bus station or maybe very busy restaurant.
[793]
So testing, testing. One, two, three.
[796]
As always, you're gonna have to be
[797]
the judge of the call quality
[799]
down in the comment section.
[800]
Now, if you're interested in checking out my full reviews
[803]
of either the Status Audio Between Pro
[805]
or the Edifier NeoBuds Pro,
[807]
check out the videos that I'ma leave for you
[809]
right up here on the screen.
[810]
With all of that said, I'm outta here. Peace.
