- Today, we're going to cover

the Four C's of Diamond Buying.

And I'm going to add a fifth
C which stand for confidence.

The first one stand for Carat Weight.

Carat weight is the physical
weight of the diamond.

And it's also the size of the diamond.

With a heavier carat weight,

the diamond also become bigger.

And I don't think any woman
will mind a bigger diamond

'cause we all know size do matter.

So, one carat stand for 0.2 of a gram,

which is a physical weight
[34]
and it's derivative
from the old carob seed
[38]
that they use in the old days
[40]
to weight in a pendulum
against the diamond.

So, if you want to buy, for
example, a five carat diamond,

they'll put five carob seeds,
[47]
put the diamond on the other side,
[48]
and when it's balanced, you
know that you are within weight.
[52]
And so amazing that if you
take even a hundred carob tree,

they will all be weighing very, very close
[57]
to 0.2 of a gram.

So, the bigger the
diamond, the rarer it is.

Even though size matter,

it's not everything in
determining the diamond value.

The other factor is the diamond Color.

The whiter the diamond,

the light will travel in and
out of the diamond faster,

and the diamond will
appear to be with more life

and more light and more brilliant.

The reason some diamond are white

and then slightly going into yellowish,

and yellowish and then it
will become distinct yellow,

is the traces of nitrogen
gas that got captured

in the diamond formation.

So, the whiter the
diamond, the rarer it is,

the larger the size, the rarer it is,

which add into the
combination of the price.

The other C stand for Clarity.

Clarity is the inclusion in the diamond,

again, some of them got captured
in the diamond formation,

some of them are due to stress,

and I like to call it nature fingerprint.

And just to let you know,
there are no two diamond alike.

There are also no two people alike.

So, it's not like you
can take five diamonds

with the same color, carat and clarity,

and they will look exactly the same.

Same as people, you can't just go

and swap your girlfriend
to another girlfriend

because you think maybe she looked better.

There's a lot of internal quality,

there's a lot of personality,

there's good and bad,
it's a whole combination.

At the end of the day,
it's how you look at it

and what perspective you
want to put into life,

and the same as in a diamond.

The other factor in the
diamond, it is the Cut.

And the cut it's really important.

It's where the master diamond cutter

release the best potential
out of a diamond.

You can look at a diamond and decide,

do I cut it into a round brilliant cut,

into an oval shape,

into a pear shape,

or any other shape in order
to maximize the value,

unleashing the diamond potential.

It's what the master diamond
cutter need to look at.

And today, we're using
very advanced technology

to analyze the diamond and to cut it.

And again, I just want
to draw your attention

to the similarity between
a diamond and a person.

When you're born, you have all
the potential in the world.

As you grow older, life's
starting to shape you.

And even now the way you are now,

you are a certain person,
you meet another person

and together now you're creating
a different combination.

So, you can still work on yourself

version that you can be,

the same as a diamond.

The fifth C is confidence and is trust.

And like in any relationship,

if you don't trust the other person,

it's not going to go very well.

So, trust where you're
buying your diamond,

trust that the diamond is authentic,

trust that the diamond
went through legal mining,

responsible polishing, got
the right certification.
