a vacation is a strong accessibility
[2]
that somebody has before a certain job
[4]
so should you be doing that vacation
[7]
undergrowth vocational degrees are where
[17]
the degree is very very strongly linked
[20]
to the career that you will end up in
[23]
for example a medical degree you cannot
[26]
be a doctor unless you have a medical
[28]
degree and your medical degree trained
[30]
you specifically for that one job being
[32]
a doctor and there are loads of other
[34]
degrees that vocational teaching
[36]
accountancy landscape design nutrition
[40]
game design there was a broad and wide
[43]
spectrum of vacationing degrees and if
[46]
you are certain absolutely certain of
[48]
the career that you want in the future
[50]
then this is a really good choice of
[52]
degree for you the University the
[54]
University course have me may have least
[56]
strong links with companies may have
[58]
really strong links with providers they
[61]
may come in do specific recruitment at
[63]
that university you might get lecturers
[66]
or talks from people within that fields
[68]
of work you might get to do some work
[71]
experience or work shadowing with them
[73]
they could also be a large amount of
[75]
specific training within the course so I
[78]
can turn see some of the accountancy
[80]
degrees also incorporate your
[82]
professional qualifications within the
[85]
degree structure so that when you come
[87]
out of your degree and you don't have to
[89]
do the extra exams because they are all
[91]
kind of like bundled in within at your
[93]
degree if it is a vocation of course you
[96]
are thinking or following look really
[98]
really closely at the modules check that
[101]
they match up with what you actually
[102]
want to be doing in the future for
[105]
example there is no points doing a
[107]
course on game design if you really
[110]
really want to follow a certain part of
[113]
animation and the university you're
[115]
applying to doesn't teach that certain
[116]
part of animation go and find a
[118]
different University where it does teach
[120]
its before you pick up occasional degree
[123]
try and get as much work experience as
[125]
you can trying it as much feeling as you
[127]
can for the career that you're
[128]
eventually going to end
[130]
in and try do this before you start
[132]
because the degree is also closely
[135]
linked to one specifically in the future
[138]
sometimes you can get a few years maybe
[141]
a year maybe a year and a half two years
[143]
into your vocation of we change your
[145]
mind decide that you don't want to be an
[147]
accountant or a doctor or a garden
[150]
designer anymore that you want to do
[152]
something different but because the
[154]
degree of course you've chosen you're
[155]
now a little bit stuck it can be quite
[158]
hard to complete the vocational degree
[160]
and then it's switch into doing
[163]
something completely different if you do
[165]
change your mind halfway through your
[166]
degree and it is not the end of the
[168]
world you don't have to leave the course
[170]
I'm going to start to do something else
[171]
which is of course an option but any
[173]
degree in itself is only valuable it's
[176]
going to be attractive to employers so
[178]
if you find yourself at the end of three
[180]
four five six years with a vocational
[182]
degree and you've then decided that you
[184]
don't want to follow that career path
[186]
don't despair it is not all going to be
[189]
over there are still some a very
[191]
attractive things very very tractive
[192]
skills that your degree course has
[193]
taught you you may face future questions
[196]
about why they spent so long studying
[198]
this one topic and then decide to go and
[200]
do something maybe a bit related maybe
[202]
completely different but there's much in
[204]
common with sensible logical truthful
[207]
answers behind this then you shouldn't
[209]
have any problems
[210]
the other problem with following a
[211]
vocational degree and changing them one
[213]
time for a three is that you might lose
[215]
motivation a bit if you want to be a
[218]
nutritionist and following traditional
[220]
and degree and then change your mind
[222]
halfway through you might not have the
[224]
enthusiasm and the motivation to study
[227]
for the final exams as much as you would
[229]
have done if you still had that
[231]
enthusiasm for the degree course and for
[234]
the subject the career at the end so
[237]
there are a couple of downsides to doing
[239]
a vacation of course if you are unsure
[242]
about what career path you want to
[244]
follow then you should consider
[246]
following an academic a more academic
[248]
career path and these do fantastic
[251]
degrees even though they're not
[252]
absolutely links to a degree and I know
[256]
lots and lots of you are really
[257]
concerned about the worth of academic
[259]
degrees in today's economic climates but
[262]
you cannot
[263]
that doing a vacation of degree calls
[264]
will automatically lend you up in a job
[267]
at the ends you still have to go through
[270]
a patient process you still have to have
[272]
fine jobs that are available that suit
[274]
your skill sets you still have to go
[276]
through and actually get the job there
[278]
is no guarantee you'll get the job at
[279]
the end of a vocational course and there
[281]
is no guarantee that you'll be better
[283]
suited to it then somebody who did
[285]
academic subjects being a degree I
[287]
strongly advise against doing a
[290]
vocational course just because you think
[292]
it's going to be easier to get your job
[293]
in the end this isn't it true and this
[296]
is a long a significant part of your
[299]
your life now lots if it's going to go
[302]
into this and lots of money is going to
[303]
go into it so don't do you a vacation of
[306]
course just because you think you should
[307]
just because you think you have to well
[309]
you think about what you're going to
[311]
enjoy what I really think about what
[313]
you're going to get out of a degree
[314]
course and what's going to be the best
[316]
thing for you in the long term please
[318]
think about this sensibly because
[319]
picking the degree course is so much
[321]
more than the job you will end up with
[323]
at the end of it I have to analyze and
[326]
loads of videos to help you pick a
[328]
degree course so hopefully some of them
[330]
will for you in the right direction
[332]
ouch this is when some videos I have
[341]
explained scratches
