I Tried Olympus Dao For 1 Month (How Much I Made) - YouTube
Channel: Jesse Eckel
[0]
last year i spent an entire year trying to make聽
a million dollars i ended up failing i only made聽聽
[4]
it to 147 000 but this year i'm not giving up i'm聽
doubling down trying to find new ways to help me聽聽
[10]
get to my million-dollar goal now since i've never聽
actually made a million dollars or never been a聽聽
[14]
millionaire it's easier said than done i have a聽
lot of people tell me oh you should be flipping聽聽
[18]
houses or you know you should be doing amazon聽
fba or you should try drop shipping i'm sure all聽聽
[23]
those ways could actually get me to my million聽
dollar goal and i plan on trying out some of聽聽
[26]
those ways eventually but the problem is i don't聽
know anything about those industries i wouldn't聽聽
[31]
even know where to get started however i do know a聽
decent amount about crypto and crypto is certainly聽聽
[36]
a way you can amass an incredible fortune in a聽
really short amount of time so this year with all聽聽
[42]
the different capital i was able to build up year聽
one of my journey i'm focusing really heavily on聽聽
[47]
crypto as a way to get to my million dollar goal聽
and to be honest i think a lot of people just聽聽
[51]
getting started with investing in general don't聽
understand how absolutely mind-blowing the yields聽聽
[58]
you get from crypto actually are in traditional聽
finance a normal good annual interest rate for聽聽
[64]
an investment would be around 10 however in crypto聽
a lot of these different projects that i'm trying聽聽
[69]
out are like 50 annually or like 80 annually聽
or 100 annually or 400 annually or for example聽聽
[77]
recently i did an entire video about strong notes聽
and how i jumped in to that project and i'm making聽聽
[82]
around 15 000 a month passively with this crypto聽
project now with something like strong notes the聽聽
[88]
reason i'm able to make so much per month fifteen聽
thousand dollars a month is because i originally聽聽
[92]
invested around forty thousand dollars to buy聽
eight notes but still making fifteen thousand聽聽
[97]
dollars a month at this point i'll be making back聽
my initial investment in less than three months聽聽
[103]
that is an absolute insane yield but the problem聽
with something like strong nodes is in order to聽聽
[108]
get just one node for somebody to just get started聽
with something like strong notes they have to pay聽聽
[113]
7 000 at today's current prices to buy just one聽
note and i have a lot of friends and family that聽聽
[119]
i really want to help them out i want to see them聽
grow their wealth and i want to see them you know聽聽
[123]
getting enough passive income so they don't have聽
to work their job anymore and most of them just聽聽
[126]
don't have the cash lying around to get started聽
with something like strong nodes so for me that聽聽
[130]
made me wonder is there anything else out there聽
like strong nodes where you can make this insane聽聽
[134]
passive income but that doesn't cost thousands of聽
dollars to get into so i started searching and in聽聽
[140]
general i get a lot of different recommendations聽
in the crypto space just because in the past i've聽聽
[145]
shared some smaller different crypto projects that聽
are kind of more hidden gems and so now people聽聽
[150]
like to send me messages or leave me comments with聽
different projects that they think are also hidden聽聽
[154]
gems and i actually take the time to write down聽
and go through every single project that people聽聽
[159]
recommend me just because i don't want to miss out聽
on getting in early on the next best project out聽聽
[164]
there and occasionally when i'm getting these聽
recommendations i'll get recommended the same聽聽
[168]
project over and over and over and over again and聽
when that happens i like to bump it up to the top聽聽
[173]
of the list just because you know usually if a聽
lot of people are recommending it there's a lot聽聽
[178]
of interest and it's probably a really interesting聽
project to check out so when i went to look for聽聽
[182]
something like strong out there in the crypto聽
space the first thing i did is i went straight聽聽
[185]
to the list of different recommendations that i've聽
been gathering and sitting at the very very top聽聽
[191]
spot in my list because it had been recommended聽
over and over and over and over and over again聽聽
[197]
was a really interesting project called olympus聽
dow so like every crypto project i look into the聽聽
[203]
first thing i did is i went straight to the site聽
to check it out and unlike a lot of the different聽聽
[207]
projects that i've been looking at lately olympus聽
dow actually had a really nice well-designed聽聽
[211]
website which for me was a really good sign just聽
going into it the website states that the olympus聽聽
[216]
dow is the decentralized reserve currency at the聽
top of the website i saw a button that said app聽聽
[222]
and i clicked it immediately because i want to聽
see what type of apy this project was paying聽聽
[227]
out or what was this project paying out why聽
was everyone so excited about it and kept聽聽
[231]
recommending it to me immediately i saw the聽
apy sitting at the top of the screen was 7聽聽
[237]
700 and my first thought was like oh like i聽
thought just because so many people recommended聽聽
[243]
this project that it was a bigger project with聽
a crazy apy like that it must be like maybe聽聽
[247]
a smaller project because i'd never heard of a聽
bigger project paying out anywhere close to seven聽聽
[253]
thousand percent apy so i quickly went over and聽
looked at the market cap of the project and it聽聽
[257]
was sitting at 1.5 billion which means it's not聽
a small project but this is actually a pretty聽聽
[263]
substantially sized project and it shouldn't be聽
paying anywhere close to 7 percent apy maybe it's聽聽
[268]
like the crazy high end it would be closer to like聽
120 or maybe even 150 but that's still pretty high聽聽
[275]
for the size and caliber of the project in fact聽
if you look at on a chart it's in the top 60 of聽聽
[281]
all crypto projects out there i just assumed聽
that i wasn't understanding how the apy worked聽聽
[286]
or there must be some other mechanic involved聽
in the ecosystem because that just doesn't make聽聽
[291]
sense that it would be paying out seven thousand聽
percent and if you're not understanding why like聽聽
[295]
a smaller project could totally pay out way more聽
than seven thousand percent and a big projects聽聽
[300]
can't it has to do with the fact that like small聽
projects have like a thousand users or a hundred聽聽
[305]
users they're using the platform so they can pay聽
out a crazy apy in their token but their tokens聽聽
[310]
worthless so it doesn't actually matter however聽
for a large project it probably would translate聽聽
[316]
over into us dollars like they're paying out a聽
thousand percent apy it'd probably be pretty close聽聽
[320]
to a thousand percent you're getting in us dollars聽
as well and let's really quickly do some math just聽聽
[326]
to show you how outrageous seven thousand percent聽
annually would be if you put in just a thousand聽聽
[331]
dollars a seven thousand percent annual interest聽
in one year you'd have seventy thousand dollars in聽聽
[337]
two years you'd have five million dollars in three聽
years you'd have 357 million dollars in four years聽聽
[344]
you'd have 25 billion dollars and in five short聽
years you'd have more money than any person on聽聽
[352]
the planet with 1.8 trillion dollars and all that聽
from a tiny 1 000 initial investment and that is聽聽
[360]
why immediately when i saw the crazy high apy and聽
i saw it was a larger project i knew that there聽聽
[366]
must be something i'm not seeing here because聽
there's no way a project can actually pay out聽聽
[370]
seven thousand percent annually so i went back聽
to the home page and i started reading through聽聽
[375]
all the different info they had there there was a聽
section on the homepage titled how olympus works聽聽
[379]
i read that probably 10 different times and聽
even after reading it 10 times i still wasn't聽聽
[383]
comprehending what they're trying to say or i聽
wasn't understanding it i feel like i'm a pretty聽聽
[387]
smart guy but for me i just wasn't understanding聽
what they were trying to say the next section of聽聽
[393]
the website is called sustainable staking apy聽
and actually laughed out loud when i read that聽聽
[397]
because i was like what are they even saying聽
like seven thousand percent is not sustainable聽聽
[403]
what am i missing here and at this point i'm聽
thinking to myself either i'm totally missing聽聽
[407]
something or this is a total scam because聽
i just couldn't see how they could possibly聽聽
[411]
claim to pay out seven thousand percent that's聽
just not possible however reading through the聽聽
[416]
sustainable apy staking section i was able to聽
understand what they were trying to communicate聽聽
[420]
and get across basically they were saying that聽
the income generated by the olympus dow treasury聽聽
[426]
is always going to be more than they're actually聽
paying out to stakers the next section said this聽聽
[431]
ome is designed to grow in value om is backed聽
by an ever-growing income generating treasury聽聽
[436]
we've created a currency that is able to聽
constantly grow purchasing power despite聽聽
[441]
market conditions this was the second time that聽
they'd mentioned the treasury they'd mentioned聽聽
[445]
the treasury's income and it really made me wonder聽
how is their treasury supposed to work and how is聽聽
[450]
it able to generate income it was at this point聽
that i switched from the site to diving into the聽聽
[454]
actual documentation of olympus doubt and my first聽
impression reading through this documentation聽聽
[460]
was that the people that created olympus dow聽
were really really really really smart when it聽聽
[467]
came to economics and how to structure this thing聽
they really thought through the mechanics of this聽聽
[473]
whole ecosystem it wasn't something that they聽
haphazardly threw together i've looked through聽聽
[477]
a lot of different crypto projects but i've聽
never seen anything like this and after maybe聽聽
[481]
two hours of reading through this documentation聽
over and over again and watching videos and really聽聽
[487]
trying to understand how this whole thing works i聽
did feel like i actually got a grasp on what they聽聽
[493]
were trying to say and how in general olympus dow聽
works and i'm going to try to summarize it for you聽聽
[500]
in really simple terms right now ohm or om is聽
the token for olympus double ohm is similar to a聽聽
[506]
stable coin in that every ohm out there is backed聽
by one die die spelled d-a-i is a stable coin聽聽
[514]
that's pegged to the u.s dollar so one die is聽
always worth one dollar but unlike a traditional聽聽
[519]
stable coin om isn't pegged to a dollar it's聽
free floating and what that means is it can't聽聽
[523]
go below a dollar because you know every single聽
ohm is backed by a dollar but it can go far above聽聽
[529]
a dollar in fact today at current prices one ohm聽
is worth 888. this gives om intrinsic value like聽聽
[537]
a stablecoin but also gives it the ability to get聽
a market decided value like bitcoin but the real聽聽
[543]
magic behind the olympus dow ecosystem is in the聽
treasury the olympus dow treasury sells bonds that聽聽
[548]
allow people to buy ohm at a lower than market聽
value price let's say the market value of 1 ohm聽聽
[555]
was 20 so if you wanted to go buy one ohm it would聽
cost you 20 what the treasury does is they will聽聽
[561]
sell bonds allowing you to buy one owned for not聽
twenty dollars but for ten dollars obviously that聽聽
[567]
sounds like a really good deal for you because if聽
you went on the market you'd have to pay 20 but聽聽
[571]
if you buy it directly from the treasury you can聽
actually get it for 10. but why would the treasury聽聽
[576]
do that why would they sell you one owned for ten聽
dollars when it's selling market value for 20.聽聽
[580]
this is the part we have to remember it only takes聽
one die to mint one own so what they're actually聽聽
[585]
doing is they're getting you to pay 10 die for one聽
ohm meaning for the price of one ohm the treasury聽聽
[590]
is actually able to turn a profit of nine die聽
the basic point is that this process of arbitrage聽聽
[597]
actually allows the olympus doubt treasury to聽
build up funds in excess of the amount they'd聽聽
[603]
have to pay out per ohm over time and those excess聽
funds that they generate they use to do two things聽聽
[610]
one they use them to pay out staking rewards all聽
the rewards that people are getting staking ohm聽聽
[617]
are actually just the excess that the treasury聽
is currently holding the second thing it allows聽聽
[623]
them to do is to go out and buy up all their聽
own liquidity so if you think of yield farming聽聽
[628]
there's always a lot of yield farmers out there聽
they're providing liquidity to the protocol and聽聽
[632]
they get rewarded for doing that yield farmers聽
are able to make a lot of money if they know what聽聽
[637]
they're doing for providing liquidity for these聽
various protocols and traditionally a lot of these聽聽
[642]
protocols have to pay out incentives to keep聽
these yield farmers around for olympus however聽聽
[647]
because they own most of their own liquidity they聽
don't have to do that they don't have to pay out聽聽
[652]
incentives and instead of other people collecting聽
the yield for providing liquidity the treasury聽聽
[657]
itself is actually able to collect its own yield聽
further increasing the profits and income of the聽聽
[662]
treasury but the biggest takeaway i got reading聽
through all this different documentation was聽聽
[667]
that at face value it seemed like olympus dow聽
was actually legit my takeaway was basically聽聽
[673]
they're running one of the craziest and wildest聽
economic experiments i've ever seen after all this聽聽
[679]
before i'm jumping in i was left with basically聽
one last question what is the risk of the price of聽聽
[686]
one ohm actually falling all the way back down聽
to its intrinsic value of one die or one dollar聽聽
[692]
currently sitting at a price of 888 while it's聽
kind of neat to know that it has an intrinsic聽聽
[697]
value it's not necessarily very reassuring like聽
if you're looking at investing money when it's聽聽
[701]
sitting at a you know all the way up at 800 bucks聽
like cool if i invest 800 bucks at least i know聽聽
[707]
if the investment crashes to nothing i'll have聽
a dollar left and this is where i learned about聽聽
[711]
something called risk-free value the risk-free聽
value is basically the value the treasury has聽聽
[716]
been able to accumulate currently the treasury聽
has much more money available than there is ohm聽聽
[720]
in circulation meaning the real risk isn't聽
actually your investment falling all the way聽聽
[725]
down to a dollar in fact if there was a scenario聽
where most people sold off their own because the聽聽
[730]
treasury is paying out excess profits to those who聽
keep staking if you kept staking not only would聽聽
[736]
you get all the money you invested back but you'd聽
also likely turn a profit because the treasury is聽聽
[741]
continually building up income it's continually聽
building up assets over time the longer you're聽聽
[746]
staked in the project your risk-free value could聽
actually become zero as you gain a greater market聽聽
[752]
share in the project than you originally had when聽
you first started but all in all after reading聽聽
[756]
everything after understanding the risks i decided聽
to jump into this project and try it out i started聽聽
[761]
out with actually a pretty large amount i put聽
in five thousand dollars because i wanted to see聽聽
[766]
what this thing could really do it was saying聽
over the next five days i'd make six percent聽聽
[770]
and a lot of people in stocks yearly annually聽
will make six percent and be happy with it so聽聽
[776]
i was excited to see what's gonna happen i wanted聽
to know if this thing was legit i wanted to know聽聽
[780]
if there's still something i wasn't missing you聽
know maybe when i actually invest maybe it works a聽聽
[784]
little bit different than i was understanding what聽
ended up happening was after my first nine days聽聽
[788]
just nine days being invested with just five聽
thousand dollars i was able to pull in nineteen聽聽
[793]
hundred dollars which was kind of crazy to me that聽
i was able to pull in that much money from a 5 000聽聽
[801]
investment over nine days and obviously for me聽
like when i get too excited i start making these聽聽
[806]
dumb kind of sort of irrational not really smart聽
decisions and i decided you know what i'm gonna聽聽
[811]
do i'm gonna take a lot more money and i'm going聽
to throw it on olympus dow because i you know if聽聽
[817]
i made 1900 in nine days imagine how much i could聽
make had i invested double that you know because i聽聽
[824]
could have made double or imagine if i'd invested聽
like you know ten thousand dollars which was聽聽
[829]
that's the same amount i decided to increase聽
the amount i had steak i transferred money聽聽
[832]
over from anchor i staked it on olympus dow and聽
i ended up staking around 17 132 anyways i think聽聽
[839]
i did that on like a friday or like right before聽
the weekend i ended up not looking at the price聽聽
[844]
for all weekend and uh or for whatever reason for聽
every reason there was like a gap of time where i聽聽
[849]
wasn't checking the price and i ended up checking聽
in about four days later and in just four days聽聽
[855]
with an initial seventeen thousand dollar聽
investment which is actually a pretty large聽聽
[858]
investment but still within just four days聽
i had made ten thousand dollars because the聽聽
[864]
price of home had gone up plus i got was getting聽
paid interest and i was just like dang but i was聽聽
[869]
actually being kind of smart in this point as聽
well because i was like you know what i need to聽聽
[873]
do i don't need to put any more money in this what聽
i'm gonna do is once i've doubled my initial stake聽聽
[878]
i'm gonna take that money out and put it back in聽
anchor so i kind of formulated a little bit of a聽聽
[882]
plan and strategy so that you know i didn't lose聽
control and start throwing crazy money at you know聽聽
[888]
olympus dow just because you'd never know what's聽
gonna happen long term and it's always smart just聽聽
[893]
to get your money off table when you can and just聽
put it into other things and now currently it's聽聽
[898]
been one week and three days since i've staked聽
that larger amount initially on olympus dow聽聽
[904]
and when i did make that initial larger聽
investment the price of one ohm was around 918聽聽
[910]
four days after i made that investment the price聽
skyrocketed to over twelve hundred dollars which聽聽
[914]
is why i ended up making a ton of money but then聽
the price dropped from 1200 all the way down to聽聽
[919]
600 and then since then it's climbed back up and聽
it's currently sitting around 880 all that being聽聽
[926]
said although initially in those four days i was聽
really stoked because i was like whoa i just made聽聽
[929]
ten thousand dollars that ended up disappearing聽
when the price of ohm dropped back down and it's聽聽
[934]
now lower than when i actually initially jumped in聽
with my big investment however even with it being聽聽
[940]
lower than when i initially invested i've actually聽
still made a good amount of money over the past聽聽
[946]
one week and three days since i made my initial聽
larger investment i've made 3 362 dollars so for聽聽
[953]
me for only a week and three days of investing聽
making over three thousand dollars is definitely聽聽
[958]
a win in my book and i'm really excited to see聽
kind of how this project keeps unfolding like i聽聽
[964]
mentioned earlier my plan is to get out my initial聽
investment first before i invest any more money聽聽
[969]
before i do anything else i'm gonna get out my聽
initial investment so i can get that off the table聽聽
[974]
just because this is a crazy experiment you never聽
know what's gonna happen after that though i plan聽聽
[979]
to just let my home sit there and just see what聽
happens over the next year maybe it turns into聽聽
[984]
a crazy amount of money maybe it turns out to聽
be nothing at all and i know everyone always聽聽
[988]
asks for a tutorial and for this one since聽
staking ohm's actually really really easy聽聽
[992]
i'm just going to walk you guys through how to get聽
it staked if that's something you're interested聽聽
[996]
in and right here these are all the different聽
places you can buy home you can currently only聽聽
[999]
get it on a dex as far as i'm aware if you're聽
not sure how to use a dex then you're gonna have聽聽
[1003]
to look up another tutorial on how to do that聽
first you're gonna go to olympusdow.finance in聽聽
[1007]
the right hand corner you're gonna click on the聽
orange button that says enter app then you're聽聽
[1010]
going to go down to the button that says stake聽
you're going to connect to your wallet whether聽聽
[1014]
it's meta mask or wall connect and then you're聽
going to choose the amount of ohm you want to聽聽
[1018]
stake and then click the orange button that says聽
stake ohm and when i clicked it this is what it聽聽
[1022]
was saying i was going to have to pay for gas fees聽
around 44 bucks if everything looks good you hit聽聽
[1026]
the blue confirm button and that's it under your聽
stake balance you should see your staked ohm and聽聽
[1032]
you're good to go if this video is helpful and聽
you want to help me grow my channel please hit the聽聽
[1036]
like button it helps get the algorithm going and聽
makes things a little bit better for me i think聽聽
[1040]
let me know your questions in the comments below聽
i again try to go through every single one the聽聽
[1044]
comments have gotten a little bit out of control聽
lately because i'm just getting so many now and聽聽
[1049]
i am not able to keep up with all of them but i am聽
trying to go through and at least read all of them聽聽
[1054]
and i'm responding to any direct questions as聽
fast as i can and as many as i can and lastly聽聽
[1059]
if you want to see more content like this make聽
sure you hit that subscribe button and you got聽聽
[1062]
to hit the little bell next to it if you want to聽
actually be notified each time i release a video聽聽
[1066]
otherwise i'll just kind of randomly show up聽
sometimes in your feed but you won't actually聽聽
[1070]
be notified unless you hit the little bell聽
thanks for watching and i'll see you next week
