December 2017 Tool Haul - YouTube

Channel: Dad Diaries

[1]
so always a good time for a tool tuber
[8]
around birthday time so I've got a bit of a tall haul here from a birthday so
[13]
let's get started the first thing I got was this set of Bergen hex drive sockets
[22]
they're 3/8 drive there's nine of them they come in this kit foam tray they're
[30]
nice quality I haven't used them over six only got them though for yesterday
[37]
I haven't got any hex drive sockets at all so they are a good addition to the
[45]
tool chest then it's up I've got a LED torch here so it comes in a case with a
[58]
little pouch there and it comes with an adapter to be able to fit triple-a
[66]
batteries which is handy because it takes one of those I remember what it
[74]
called everyone who's got one of these LED torches well no yeah 18 650s
[92]
it's nice and bright and the interesting thing with it is its zoomable and the
[100]
camera is not quite picking up how bright that is there and it does sort of
[105]
different intensity and strobe and SOS so if I'm stuck in the shed without a
[115]
cup of tea I can put that to the window and hopefully my wife will see that and
[121]
rescue me with a cup of tea that's good and it comes to the charger as well for
[128]
the battery and the battery came in the kit so it was everything that you needed
[133]
there with any of these things I can't obviously tell you how much they
[138]
were because they were gifts but if anybody needs to know I'll be able to
[144]
find out next up some ratcheting spanners they're 72 teeth and my
[160]
youngest son got me these and these are the rest I need for the complete set of
[165]
the spanners from I think it's something like 6 millimeters up to now 27 without
[172]
missing any steps at all so I'm really pleased for those some good good chunky
[180]
wrenches or spanners in the UK as we know them by so pleased with them when I do
[187]
the toolbox tour my show you get to see all the rest of the house that's very
[193]
pleased for them next up next up is a set of three ball pin house somewhere so
[206]
I've set these free
[211]
okay so I didn't have any ball-peen hammers at all got lots of claw hammers
[218]
deadblow hammer all kinds of things but no no ball pens so it's a hammer
[228]
fiberglass shafts made by Berg you know quite like Bergen swords I think they're
[232]
very good value for money and when everybody was saying to me what if you
[238]
like this what would you to get you through now you like tools you know I
[243]
say to people you know do you don't need to buy me expensive friends I'm not
[247]
about there I'm about having a tool that works and does its job and I find that
[253]
generally Bergen tools are excellent value for what you get so set three
[257]
hammers they're pleased about that as well got this cutting mat as well so the
[268]
timber here that you see under E is the new work top for my workbench this is
[274]
the first video in the workshop I'm pleased to say we're finally in and yes
[281]
I won't be carving up the top of the workbench with noise and things
[285]
next thing is a Bergen is 1551 and it's a thirty inch half inch broad breaker
[295]
bar I had one so so a long old beast is very
[304]
chunky very chunky swivel end and they actually do replacement kits for the end
[311]
of this as well so not I can imagine this is gonna break I don't envision
[317]
that breaking but if I just get the other one
[326]
so this is the by comparison this is the one that I've got currently and this is
[333]
been my workhorse for a number of years this is a Clarke breaker bar I think is
[341]
18 inch something like that so you see the sort of size comparison I'm gonna
[348]
get a lot more leverage with this new bar so I know for that I'm gonna have to
[355]
be doing the brakes on the Jeep in the new year hopefully the weather gets a
[359]
bit very pleased for that next up some spanner holders or racks
[375]
whatever you want to call them I do like a bit at all organization and I've got
[380]
the new tool chests and I'll be doing a review video on those soon I am pleased
[387]
with them and I've bought them in February so it's taken me a long time to
[391]
finally be able to get to use these not these obviously I'm talking about the
[396]
tool chests and there behind me so yeah it is what it is probably have to I've
[403]
done it with I'm gonna have them lengthwise and the span is along the
[406]
width of the drawer that way I'll cut them and have them moving in that way so
[412]
it's good next up replacement chainsaw gloves because mine went a little bit
[420]
moldy in the old shed and if there's something you need PPE for is using a
[426]
chainsaw
[428]
next thing not at all but is for the workshop is the mount for the TV screen
[435]
I'm gonna put in the shed man needs a TV when he's working because
[439]
he does why not! and I'm gonna be fitting in Saturday is coming Saturday
[445]
next item this is a common rail diesel injector leak back kit
[454]
the reason why I needed this is I think I've got a problem with one of my
[462]
injectors leaking out of sync with the combustion and the reason why I think
[468]
that is because the oil level in the Jeep is going up slightly and I do
[474]
actually have a small oil leak which I've got to fix as well so I know
[478]
there's something going on there and I'm gonna have to get that fixed pretty
[482]
quickly because if I am having diesel leak back through the combustion chamber
[490]
into the oil gallery it's obviously going to thin my oil out and it's
[494]
they're going to do my engine no good whatsoever so I shall be using this
[500]
quite shortly I'll probably do a video on that the kit I think this whole kit
[507]
here was got all these connectors and so it's a nice kit I think it's about 20
[518]
pounds probably made in China but the fittings and things and these are quite
[524]
thick perspex I think these are yeah but the fittingings are, they're quite nice
[533]
quite well machined so interesting to see how that works out certainly give me
[540]
an indications to end of what injectors if any are not operating correctly so
[547]
I'll be able to put that through its paces
[556]
next up a drape a handheld vacuum now this is a mains vacuum so it's 230 or
[565]
240 volts in the UK 600 watts so you might think that that isn't a
[572]
particularly powerful handheld vacuum I had a battery one in previous years and
[579]
I'll be perfectly honest that was completely gutless and
[584]
didn't really do an awful lot of anything so my wife gave me this bless her
[588]
and she did a bit of research on the interwebs the reviews on
[602]
this were really good and I have already had a little go and I can tell you that
[608]
I was properly impressed with this
[621]
so if you're in the UK I don't know if this is available in the US or Canada
[627]
the item number is two four three nine two Draper handheld vacuum cleaner yes a
[636]
really cool little little vacuum I tdidn't really want to get a bigger
[641]
vacuume for the workshop and I have to work something out for dust collection
[646]
on things like the bandsaw and bits and pieces like that but I didn't want to
[653]
have a additionally to that another vacuum in here because it takes up space
[658]
I don't really want to give up if I can help it
[676]
and last but by no means least a soldering iron now I I think it's fair say
[687]
that if you speak to my boys especially my oldest boy who's been present for
[690]
some of my soldering escapades I've gone through a few soldering irons over
[697]
my time (old ones packed away at the moment) and I havn't unpacked all the tools.
[703]
my current soldering iron is something like 20 watt handheld I've had the gun
[710]
type that when you pull the trigger the tip then heats up I'm ..... it always
[715]
tends to be really frustrating to use so my son's girlfriend Catherine... she very
[725]
kindly bought this for me for my birthday
[731]
and I appreciate that very much because This things 60-watt so it has some sleep
[743]
modes and put it together necessarily but I'll just have a little cheeky plug in
[754]
and see what happens well we know what happens.. it'll get hot
[758]
but I just want to look at this display to see what we get with a display so
[784]
what digital display on the front there
[789]
we got a lock on the sensor say temp 90 and then it turns just get out I'm not
[800]
sure if you can see that so well thank you showing goes up to 480 it's got
[808]
typically an area obviously hydrater spun just one of those and suck the
[813]
moisture out of it top sponges and there's a button here to lock the
[817]
temperature so even if you turn the dial temperature stays the same so that is
[824]
excellent it's getting hot already heats up quite quickly as well so yeah a good
[832]
haul of tools for my birthday which I'm really pleased with got plans for quite
[838]
a few videos coming up over the next few weeks one I'm going to be talking about
[842]
is lifetime warranties of tool companies especially machine Mart in the UK which
[849]
I did not have a good experience with yesterday with a lifetime set of
[853]
screwdrivers so I'm going to talk about that I want to go through all the
[856]
projects I've got coming up with the mr2 and yeah so good stuff exciting times
[862]
for me because my workshop coming to a close that means of course
[866]
somewhere fixed to be able to do my filming and things so I shall be able to
[871]
output more videos than I have done previously
[873]
so I'm going to wrap this up now thanks for watching hope everybody finds
[878]
themselves fit and well and looking forward to the holiday season and
[884]
Christmas and all that kind of thing so thanks for watching and I'll see you on
[889]
the next one
[898]
you
