Airdrops…who doesn’t like a good crypto airdrop.

It’s like free money raining from the sky and gently dropping into your lap, just for

using the world of crypto applications and defi.

We have called out some of the biggest airdrops in the space, and we are going to do it again…because

it’s time for Chico Crypto!!

Airdrop fever has kind of died down but let me tell you it always picks back up.

Uniswap started the trend during DeFi summer of 2020.

400 tokens per wallet if you had made a swap through their AMM which at Uniswap’s peak

was worth almost $18000 dollars.

Airdrop fever died down but then it started once again last year with DyDx and ENS…dydx

banked some people over 100 hundred thousand dollars, while ENS was banking many people

between 10 to 20 thousand dollars.

Wouldn’t it be nice to snag some airdrops of that size?

Well there still is a chance…I have a feeling Airdrop season is going to kick off real soon

with once again big Ethereum names doing their drops!!

So let’s begin with me reiterating airdrops I’ve already covered but haven’t happened

yet.

#1 is Optimism.

I covered this airdrop all the way back in September of 2020 and gave the reasons I think

it will airdrop, including the large VC Paradigm being an investor in Optimism,but also an

investor in already airdropped projects, the one who kicked off Uniswap and one of the

most valuable dydx, and another one reflexer!!

But the biggest piece of evidence to me…is total value locked up…as we can see back

in September, TVL on optimism was $214 million, and they were in 3rd place behind dydx who

had 447 million, and arbitrum who had 1.5 billion.

Well let’s look at TVL today, optimism has fallen to #4 with another optimistic rollup

who has a token, Metis dethroning them from the #3 spot.

They are barely growing and actually losing layer 2 market share.

DyDX has grown to nearly 1 billion TVL, and arbitrum is at 3.5 billion.

Optimism is obviously falling behind and they are going to need to incentivize people to

use their rollup.

The best incentivization strategy in crypto?

An airdrop…

Now in that video I showed how to use Optimism to possibly be eligible for their airdrop

The 2nd possible coming airdrop I need to reiterate is zksync another layer 2 for ethereum,

based on zk, zero-knowledge rollups.

I first covered this one back in October…well it’s confirmed zksync will have a token,

within their docs they say that yes it will have a token.

How do we know it could be an airdrop.

Well back in November a spencer noon tweeted “It’s a damn shame there aren’t more

community-owned $ETH L2s, of which a chris burniske replied “zksync will be community

owned” and the official zk sync twitter replied to that “True to the core.”

Community ownership means those who have contributed to the layer's success will be owners of the

tokens.

Aka in my opinion, confirmation of an airdrop!

And once again in that video I showed how to use zksync to possibly be eligible for

But now it’s time to get into the new airdrops!!

Including an oh so important one to Ethereum!!

Are you talking about metmask and it’s mask airdrop?

Well that is going to happen, as Joe Lubin basically confirmed it in a tweet….but No

no no, I’m talking about the project who is the Kusama of Ethereum.

Kusama of Ethereum?

Well everyone should know about Polkadot and it’s canary network Polkadot…Kusama is

a testing ground for dapps to make sure everything works, and to try new and experimental features

before going on top of Pollkadot.

What sets Kusama apart from Ethereum test networks like Ropsten and Rinkeby, is there’s

monetary consequences on Kusmama…it has a token that powers the network that has value

creating a ture test environment.

Ethereum testnets do not.

But that is about to change for Ethereum with it’s coming switch to ETH 2 and the merge!!

Yes, ethereum is transferring to full proof of stake this quarter…if we go to ethmerge.com

and their FAQ about when is the merge happening they say “The best current (non-official)

estimate is sometime in Q1 2022.”

Now this is a big transition and it could lead to a ton of hiccups for dapps o Ethereum

in how they operate.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a Kusama they could deploy on first…to test, before

the merge happens?

Well they are going to have a Kusama and that is Gnosis chain!

Martin Koppelmann, founder of Gnosis tweeted this about Gnosis chain “So what is Gnosis

Chain?

Follow the Ethereum roadmap as closely as possible: This means the highest compatibility

with Ethereum will be a priority.

From trying to bring the Gnosis Safe to other EVM chains we know firsthand how many issues

even deviations from Ethereum can cause.

They can cause nasty special case handling or even threaten the security assumptions

of contracts.

Gnosis Chain aims to replicate Ethereum as much as possible so that ideally all infrastructure

for Ethereum (including) clients will work with Gnosis chain as well.

Generally, we want to activate hard forks first on Gnosis Chain - the big first opportunity

will be "the merge".

We are aiming to do it exactly 1 week before Ethereum.

As we are "taking" a lot from Ethereum this is one small opportunity of "giving back"

- in this case - acting as a "guinea pig" for Ethereum.

If e.g. unexpected problems would occur a week would still be enough to react or worst

case delay a hard fork on Ethereum.

Ideally, we can have a symbiotic relationship with Ethereum where GC stands on the shoulders

of the giant but pays back.

They were planning to do the merge on Gnosis chain, 1 week before Ethereum does…and there

are talks now even 2 weeks before, so dapps can test before going live on ETH2!!

Now what about that airdrop?

Well if we go back to Martin’s tweet he talks about bringing Gnosis Safe to other

EVM chains.

Well Stefan George co-founder and CTO of Gnosis tweeted “The lock will potentially make

you eligible for future airdrops (e.g. Gnosis Safe) and allow an opt-in for liquid staking

on Gnosis Chain, once liquid staking becomes available minimizing opportunity costs.

Although the lock date has passed it was set to February 15th…but I think they just might

re-open it for a short amount of time, if they get enough interest…but there is another

way…even if that doesn’t happen a re-opeing…above where Stefan talk about the date he says “GBC

validators are eligible too.”

Yes validators for the chain will be eligible for the safe airdrop too!!

So I just might think about spinning up a validator node for Gnosis chain…if you didn’t

know Gnosis Safe has over 100 billion TVL!

But there is more to come regarding airdrops, and possibly this mont including ones that

have been paying out those big bucks like DYDX and ENS..but before we get into that

Now back to those high value airdrops that could be coming very soon aka this month!!

Now the Cosmos ecosystem has been paying out BIG on airdrops lately.

The Big recent ones were JUNO and OSMO.

A stargaze chad on twitter explained it pretty well back Janaury 9th.

He said “My OSMO juno airdrop alone is worth 34k on top of at least another $50k in rewards

… from staking an original $1200 in $ATOM …. Dump all you want because you win , we

win … trading is fun but feasting forever on money printers is so much better imo.

Atom in infinity”

Now he had a combined value of OSMO and Juno of $34 thousand dollars for only staking 1200

dollars worth of cosmos atom!!

How much is that today, well let’s assume the 34k was equal of osmo and Juno…so 17k

of each.

OSMO is the same price today as it was back then, but Juno has doubled in price.

So Juno alone is worth 34k!!

Plus another 17k for OSMO!!

Now is there more of these coming?

Well a Mr. Hyde on twitter tweeted “$EVMOS to be claimed 28th Feb, $SHD to be claimed

on 21st Feb, $STARS(40%) to be claimed on 28th feb, $RAC to be claimed on 28th feb!!

Below a Jgorzki asked “if I buy $atom and stake it now, would I be eligible to receive

an airdrop?”

of which a cosmos coffehouse tweeted “Yes, there's 20+ Airdrops coming and more announced

almost daily”

Now the dates to have Cosmos staked may have passed for some of the above, but like coffehouse

said, there is 20 more coming.

So, personally I would stake cosmos, stake juno, and stake osmos to be the most eligible

for the coming cosmos airdrops comets.
