relocating here from somewhere else, and

by the way... may I suggest this video

right here? But what you really want to

know is, "Tell me about the cost of living
[50]
in Savannah Georgia. How will my quality
[53]
of life compare to what I have now?" Well
[55]
I'm going to tell you that compared to
[57]
most major metropolitan areas Savannah
[60]
is significantly - I'm talking
[62]
significantly - less expensive. So here's a
[66]
really great website that I found once
[68]
before when I was Googling that gives
[70]
you a cost-of-living analysis. You can
[72]
type in the city where you live now
[74]
and the salary that you currently make.
[76]
And it will tell you what kind of salary
[80]
that equates to in Savannah when we
[82]
compare the cost of living. So for
[84]
instance, you might make $75,000 now but
[88]
if you moved to Savannah you might only
[90]
need to make 50,000 in order to have the
[93]
same quality of life because the cost of
[95]
living is less. Now conversely if you
[98]
live in an area that's very low cost
[100]
right now and you type in the salary
[102]
that you're going to make in Savannah
[104]
you might find that it's going to be more
[108]
expensive to live here. Isn't that
[109]
something that you'd rather know now
[111]
before you accept that job offer? Perhaps
[114]
that will give you more leverage to
[117]
negotiate that they give you a better
[118]
relocation package. You can say, "Listen,
[121]
I'm gonna be making less money if I move
[123]
there so I need for you to pay for all
[125]
of my moving expenses." Will it work? Who
[128]
knows? But it's worth a shot,

right? You never know if you don't ask.

But in general the
[133]
cost of living in Savannah is relatively
[135]
inexpensive. For example, my husband and I
[138]
decided to relocate here about five
[140]
years ago from the San Francisco Bay
[142]
Area, which everybody knows is insanely
[144]
expensive. My parents lived in Savannah
[147]
and every time we came to visit we fell
[149]
a little more in love with it until one
[150]
day we decided... you know what? We're just
[152]
moving here ourselves. Even if the
[155]
salary he were going to be offered here
[156]
was a little bit less (and it wasn't much
[158]
less, it was just a tiny bit less) than
[161]
what he had been making in California, in
[163]
the end we made out like bandits.

Now Savannah is a city. It's not a big
[168]
city, it's a small city. I would compare
[171]
it to something like Salt Lake City or
[173]
if you've been to Charleston, or what
[176]
else...
[176]
Tucson, Arizona maybe. Our total
[179]
population for the tri-county area is
[181]
about 300,000. So it's really not a big
[183]
area but it's geographically spread out.
[186]
We've got homes that are over by the
[189]
ocean, we've got homes that are much more
[191]
inland, we've got a couple of military
[193]
bases here, and the whole area we
[196]
consider the Savannah metro area. So I
[199]
hope that was a good synopsis of the
[201]
cost of living in Savannah Georgia. It
[204]
really is a very affordable place to
[205]
live. As I said before I made a video all

about moving to Savannah that I hope you
