into the first question and that is tell

me about yourself
[61]
so it is very important you get off to a
[64]
flying start
[65]
in your credit analyst interview now
[67]
because this is going to be the first
[69]
question asked make sure you give a
[72]
positive
[72]
confident answer that focuses on your
[75]
ability
[76]
to match the person specification for
[78]
this role
[79]
here's a great answer to help you tell
[82]
me about yourself
[84]
i take great pride in my work as a
[86]
credit analyst and over the years
[88]
i have been careful to build up a
[90]
diverse range of skills
[91]
that enable me to excel in the role i am
[95]
highly analytical i can solve problems
[97]
quickly
[98]
i can work at pace i work well as part
[100]
of a team
[101]
and i will always ensure the financial
[103]
objectives of my employer
[105]
are at the heart of everything i do i
[108]
have built up extensive knowledge of the
[110]
financial sector
[111]
and the processes i use whilst carrying
[113]
out my duties as a credit analyst
[115]
are suited to all types of situation i
[118]
appreciate you have many candidates to
[120]
choose from
[121]
however the skills the qualities and the
[123]
breadth of experience i can bring to the
[125]
role
[126]
make me i believe the ideal person for
[128]
the position
[130]
so that's a positive answer that sets
[132]
you up with confidence
[133]
for the rest of your credit analyst
[135]
interview now you can either pause the
[138]
video if you want to
[139]
and take a note of the questions and
[141]
answers as we work through them together
[143]
or if you want to wait i will tell you
[145]

[147]

[149]
credit analyst interview questions and
[151]
top scoring answers
[152]
including the ones we are covering today
[154]
here's the next question
[155]
why do you want to work for our
[156]
organization as a credit
[158]
analyst now the hiring manager wants to
[161]
know that you have carried out
[162]
sufficient research
[164]
to convince yourself that their
[166]
organization is
[167]
one you will want to stay working at for
[169]
a long period of time
[171]
now as you already know this is a role
[174]
that requires consistency
[176]
and an ability to build up long-term
[178]
client relationships
[180]
so here's another great answer to guide
[182]
you why do you want to work for
[184]
our organization as a credit analyst
[187]
i am looking for long-term employment
[189]
with the same company as a credit
[191]
analyst so prior to the interview
[193]
i carried out extensive research into
[195]
your organization
[197]
everything i learned pointed to the fact
[199]
that this is a brilliant place to work
[201]
you support your employees to be the
[203]
best they possibly can be
[205]
you take compliance seriously and you
[207]
are forward thinking
[209]
in your approach to business the latest
[211]
news stories on your website
[213]
and on your linkedin corporate page all
[215]
tell me this is a caring
[217]
and ethical organization and from what i
[220]
have heard from current and former
[221]
employees
[222]
it's a great place to learn grow and
[225]
develop so that's another cracking
[227]
answer
[228]
now don't go anywhere because i still
[230]
have more questions and answers to give
[232]
you but when you're ready if you want to
[233]
click that link in the top right hand
[235]
corner of the video
[236]
it takes you through to my website
[239]
and you can download my full set of 26
[242]
credit analyst interview questions
[244]
and top scoring answers including the
[247]
ones covered today
[248]
but here's the next question what are
[251]
the five
[251]
c's of credit analysis now there will be
[255]
several
[256]
technical level questions asked during
[258]
your credit analyst interview
[260]
and this is one of the more common ones
[262]
so here's my example answer to help you
[265]
what are the five c's of credit analysis
[269]
the five c's of credit analysis are
[271]
character
[272]
capacity capital collateral and
[275]
conditions
[276]
character is my opinion of whether the
[278]
entity is likely to repay the debt
[281]
capacity is the ability of the borrower
[283]
to have sufficient funds moving forward
[285]
to repay the loan
[287]
capital is the amount of money the
[288]
borrower is putting up themselves
[290]
the more they are prepared to risk
[292]
themselves the more they are likely to
[294]
repay the debt collateral
[296]
is any security the borrower is prepared
[299]
to put up against the loan
[300]
and finally conditions are the purpose
[302]
of the loan what it will be used for
[304]
along with the predetermined repayment
[306]
terms now i like that answer because you
[309]
are not just
[310]
saying what the five c's are you are
[312]
explaining what each one is so you are
[315]
showing a depth of knowledge in relation
[318]
to your subject matter
[320]
the next question when considering
[322]
whether to lend to a company what would
[324]
you
[324]
analyze now of course when answering
[327]
this question
[328]
it is important to state that you will
[329]
follow the organization's policy
[332]
on credit and lending assessments
[334]
however you
[335]
also need to state the different
[336]
elements you will analyze
[338]
too so here's another great answer to
[341]
help you
[342]
when considering whether to lend to a
[344]
company what would you
[346]
analyze i would look at various aspects
[349]
of a company in line with the operating
[351]
procedures set by my employer
[353]
i would look at the various financial
[355]
statements of the business over the last
[357]
five years
[358]
including the income statement the
[360]
balance sheet shareholders funds and
[362]
profit and loss account
[363]
i would assess the company assets to see
[365]
which could be used as security
[367]
i would assess the company interest
[369]
coverage ratio
[370]
to make sure they can pay the debt plus
[372]
the interest accrued
[374]
and i would measure additional
[375]
qualitative factors outside of financial
[378]
information
[378]
to assess a business's suitability for
[381]
lending now as i said at the start it
[383]
would be vital
[384]
that i follow your set procedures when
[386]
assessing any company for lending
[388]
and credit purposes and i would never
[390]
deviate from those
[392]
that's another really good answer the
[394]
next question
[395]
what is meant by the term interest
[398]
coverage
[398]
ratio now again your understanding of
[401]
terminology and processes
[403]
will form a part of your credit analyst
[405]
interview
[406]
and when answering questions of this
[408]
nature show you have a thorough
[410]
understanding of the subject that is
[411]
being assessed
[413]
here's a sample answer to assist you
[415]
what is meant
[416]
by the term interest coverage ratio
[419]
the interest coverage ratio is the
[422]
ability of a company
[423]
to pay interest with its available
[426]
earnings
[427]
we calculate the ratio by dividing a
[430]
company's earnings before
[431]
interest and taxes by the interest
[433]
expenses for the same period
[436]
so for example if a business's earnings
[439]
before
[439]
interest and taxes amounts to one
[441]
hundred thousand dollars
[442]
and the repayments are twenty thousand
[444]
dollars the interest coverage ratio is
[446]
five
[448]
a higher ratio is more acceptable from a
[450]
risk perspective
[451]
and anything lower than a two would not
[453]
normally be acceptable in my experience
[456]
obviously each financial organization
[458]
has a different
[459]
approach to interest coverage ratio
[461]
based on their appetite for risk
[462]
and also the five c's which i discussed
[465]
earlier
[466]
so that shows that you thoroughly
[468]
understand what the term means
[470]
and how it is applied in a credit
[473]
analysis
[474]
sorry analyst situation so the next
[477]
thing to do is make sure you click that
[479]
