information as easy as possible for them

I was concerned that some managers may

not submit the data on time and this

could potentially hold me back from

creating the report and the accompanying

presentation now by holding a meeting

with the managers and by making the

reporting process as clear and as simple

as possible I was able to eventually

have a smooth and effective system in

place that allowed me to get everything

ready on time

following a few initial teething

problems I built strong relationships

with the managers whereby they all knew
[392]
how important it was to submit timely
[395]
relevant and accurate information by set

deadlines so you can see there

that by using the star technique of

able to structure a comprehensive

your opinion what skills and qualities

are needed to work in finance now in

theory this should be a relatively easy

finance interview question to answer

however you can only answer it correctly

if you've taken the time to study the

person specification for the role you

are applying for so here is my suggested

answer whilst there are numerous skills
[461]
and qualities needed to work in finance
[463]
the 8 most important ones include

attention to detail and analytical
[468]
skills simply because you have to carry
[470]
out your work accurately and concisely
[472]
there is no room for error in finance
[475]
you also need to be able to create
[477]
accurate reports and present them in a
[480]
style that is simple and easy to
[482]
understand finance can be complex and
[485]
confusing so you need to put things
[487]
across in very simple terms which brings
[489]
me onto the next skill communication
[491]
being able to communicate well both in
[494]
written format and verbally is essential
[496]
you also need extensive knowledge of
[498]
applicable finance software tools and
[500]
apps because these will enable you to
[502]
carry out your work much faster and also

in an efficient manner you most
[507]
certainly need strong interpersonal and
[509]
relationship building skills as a core

part of your job is working in

collaboration with other people you also

need to be highly organized and possess

business and commercial acumen after all

the success of the organization is just

a number of important clients one client

in particular was very difficult to deal

with due to the fact the information and

documentation he would send to me was

often late incomplete and disorganized

this in turn made my job difficult it

was my job to provide excellent service
[583]
for the client and to achieve that goal

I needed to come up with a plan to
[587]
persuade him to submit quality accurate
[589]
and organized accounts and information
[591]
to me on time I requested a meeting with
[594]
the client to try and sort things out
[595]
and I prepared very well in advance
[598]
once I had managed to secure the meeting
[600]
I explained you very clear terms the
[602]
benefits to him of sending through the
[604]
documentation required before moving on
[607]
to explain a simple yet highly effective
[609]
process he could follow to submitting
[612]
the account information in a timely
[613]
manner after I had explained the
[615]
benefits and how I intended to support
[617]
him through the transition he agreed to
[619]
give it a try three months after he'd
[621]
starting using my suggested system he
[624]
became extremely effective at submitting
[626]
the information and documentation and
[628]
most importantly it was on time now by
[630]
using effective interpersonal and
[632]
communication skills I was able to turn
[634]
a challenging client into one that was
[636]
not only easy to work with but enjoyable
[639]
to so again that is proof that using the
[642]
star technique you will be able to
[644]
provide an in-depth evidence based
[646]
top-scoring answer and you'll see how I

am giving the interviewer a story that

is based around the interview question
