EXPOSED: Jared Kushner Funneled Trump Campaign Donations To Shell Company - YouTube
Channel: The Young Turks
[0]
>> In the final months of Trump's campaign,聽聽
[2]
it was big news that he had burned through聽
campaign cash and had to pull ad buys that聽聽
[8]
the campaign was planning on doing聽
in order to try to win reelection.聽聽
[13]
And there was a lot of questions regarding where聽
all that money went, he fundraised quite a bit.
[18]
Well, now we're learning through Business Insider聽
that Jared Kushner created a shell company,聽聽
[27]
and then funneled campaign money to that shell聽
company. And because that money was funneled to聽聽
[33]
a shell company, we don't know exactly who it聽
was paid for or to, or what it was used for.
[39]
So let me give you details that we know聽
so far. Kushner personally approved the聽聽
[43]
creation of the company incorporated as聽
American Made Media Consultants Corp.,聽聽
[50]
and American Made Media Consultants LLC in聽
April of 2018. From there, Eric Trump's wife,聽聽
[57]
Lara Trump, was named president and Mike Pence's聽
nephew John Pence, serving as vice president.
[63]
It allowed the campaign to avoid federally聽
mandated disclosures concerning what聽聽
[68]
it was spending considerable amounts of money聽
on. And by considerable, we mean nearly half of聽聽
[74]
the $1.26 billion raised for Trump's reelection.聽
And so, as Business Insider reports, for months,聽聽
[85]
Trump's aides, top advisors in the campaign聽
just didn't know, where is this money going to?
[92]
How does this shell company聽
function? Which by the way,聽聽
[96]
of course, casts an air of mystery around聽
the shell company in this whole operation.聽聽
[100]
Campaign law experts have long accused the聽
Trump team of using a corporate pass-through聽聽
[106]
to hide payments. The nonpartisan Campaign Legal聽
Center, led by former Republican Federal Election聽聽
[112]
Commission Chairman Trevor Potter, filed聽
a civil complaint with the FEC in July.
[119]
Accusing the Trump campaign of disguising聽
about $170 million worth of campaign spending聽聽
[125]
in large part by laundering the funds聽
through AMMC. And then one other quote,聽聽
[131]
Cenk. Brendan Fischer, the Campaign Legal聽
Center's director of federal reform,聽聽
[136]
said the payments to AMMC were a scheme to evade聽
telling voters even the basics on where its money聽聽
[144]
is really going and a shield to disguise聽
the ultimate recipients of its spending.
[149]
And so, some of the staffers on the campaign聽
team believe that, okay, well, maybe this money聽聽
[155]
is being used toward buying ads and doing things聽
like that. But again, because of the nature of聽聽
[160]
this shell company, it's really hard to determine聽
exactly where the money went and how it was used.
[168]
There's a lot of mystery around聽
it, and should be investigated.聽
[170]
>> Okay, let me break this down, there's聽
actually two different ways that the Trump聽聽
[176]
team appears to have potentially funneled聽
money to themselves. So let me first handle聽聽
[182]
this one that we're talking about, but聽
there's another one that's related to it.
[186]
So why would you do a shell company that's, as聽
they described it, a campaign within the campaign?聽聽
[191]
Well, the number one reason is to hide where the聽
money is going. So if the campaign spends money,聽聽
[196]
that's public, so if they spend money聽
on advertising, everybody can see it.
[200]
And in fact, there's a lot of stories written聽
about how campaigns spend their money.聽聽
[204]
But if the campaign then gives聽
it to just this shell company,聽聽
[207]
that's all the information you get, that聽
shell company got $415 million. Well,聽聽
[212]
what did they do with it? We don't聽
know, and they don't have to say.
[216]
So already massive problem and if you聽
don't know, Bill Stepien was technically聽聽
[223]
the campaign manager after Brad Parscale.聽
But everyone acknowledges that the actual聽聽
[229]
campaign manager was Jared Kushner, and Stepien聽
in this case, according to Vanity Fair, didn't聽聽
[234]
even wanna ask about the slush fund. He's like,聽
if Jared wants me to know, he'll let me know.
[239]
Who's the campaign manager then?聽
Clearly Jared, right? And so Jared then聽聽
[244]
sets up the slush fund, and pours hundreds of聽
millions of dollars into it. Now, the second聽聽
[251]
part of that is, well, how do you take money out聽
of the slush fund and how do you profit from it?
[256]
Number one, if it's an outside company, people聽
can work at that company. So what do you do,聽聽
[261]
you put Lara Trump, Eric Trump's wife, as Ana told聽
you, as the president. And then I like this twist聽聽
[267]
where Pence's nephew's the Vice President,聽
okay, just to keep it all in the family.
[272]
Now, these are the same guys who told you, can聽
you believe what Biden did for Hunter Biden?聽聽
[276]
Now they set up a 400 million聽
some odd dollar shell company,聽聽
[280]
they put their kids in charge of it, or their聽
nephews and their in-laws, etc., in charge of聽聽
[284]
it. They can take any salary they like, and聽
then they can disperse it any way they like.
[289]
But on top of all that, and then of course,聽聽
[292]
there's so many layers to it.聽
One, is the salaries. Second is,聽聽
[296]
well, I mean, we had to do all of this聽
obviously from all the Trump properties,聽聽
[301]
where we were running the campaign or the shell聽
company, so we had to pay giant rent to Trump.
[306]
There's nothing we can do about聽
it, nothing we can do about it.聽聽
[309]
And by the way, you can't even find out, cuz聽
it's a shell company. And the third thing is,聽聽
[315]
we take, these companies, any normal consultant,聽
if they're doing TV ad buys or any ad buys,聽聽
[322]
usually it takes about 15% as their commission.
[326]
Now, that's already a scam that we've talked聽
about on the show in a lot of ways, but it's聽聽
[331]
legal and that's the fee that they charge for the聽
service. But now if the people taking the 15% are聽聽
[338]
Trump family members and Pence family members,聽
well, you can do the math on 15% of 415 million.
[345]
That's over $16 million that would go to聽
their families, that is highway robbery.聽聽
[353]
The only good news about that is that they聽
robbed MAGA and rich Republicans. So hey,聽聽
[359]
you wanna be a sucker and you wanna give Trump聽
money? How many times does he have to rob people?
[365]
Trump charity, Trump University, six bankruptcies,聽聽
[368]
where he says it's good business not to pay back聽
your debts. So boo hoo, he robbed you blind,聽聽
[374]
but I do hope they catch them if that's what聽
happened, if, and of course, if it's illegal聽聽
[380]
there should definitely be consequences. And聽
lo and behold, what happened the other day?
[387]
Right, Trump started talking about a聽
preemptive pardon for Jared Kushner,聽聽
[391]
from out of nowhere. Hm, I wonder why he did that.
>> Man, these people are not in any way savvy,聽聽
[398]
right? Because I mean by essentially聽
hinting that you're gonna do that,聽聽
[404]
you're admitting that there's been some聽
potentially illegal activity, right?
[408]
And so we've been waiting to see what it is, cuz聽
at the time that Trump talked about a potential聽聽
[415]
pardon for his family members, yeah, I mean,聽
they've engaged in some pretty sketchy stuff.聽聽
[420]
But there wasn't anything big in the news that you聽
could really tie Jared Kushner to specifically.
[426]
But if this gets investigated and you find that聽
they were misusing campaign funds and breaking聽聽
[433]
campaign finance laws, well, yeah, I mean, this聽
is a serious issue if they're breaking FEC laws,聽聽
[440]
but it would have to be investigated. And聽
so remember, a preemptive pardon is the聽聽
[444]
President's ability to pardon someone even聽
before they've been charged with a crime.
[450]
And there has been precedent for that, with Gerald聽
Ford pardoning Richard Nixon before he had been聽聽
[457]
charged criminally for the Watergate scandal.聽
But yeah, I mean, there's that and then you聽聽
[463]
think back at the fact that they ran out of聽
cash, and no one knew where the money went.
[468]
They ran out of money in the last few聽
months of the election, and as you can see,聽聽
[473]
Trump had a giant hall, where did that聽
money go? And you're right, Cenk. I mean,聽聽
[477]
there's been so many different instances of聽
them stealing money from their own supporters.聽聽
[481]
They did it with this false accusation聽
of widespread voter fraud, claiming that聽聽
[486]
they're fundraising in order to help financially聽
support the legal challenges to the election.
[492]
You read the fine print, you find out that that聽
money actually goes straight into Trump's pocket,聽聽
[495]
to his super PAC and all of that, and聽
this is just another example of them-聽
[499]
>> Yeah.
>> Potentially ripping off their supporters.聽
[502]
>> Yeah, that was the second thing聽
I wanted to mention real quick.
[504]
That was called Save America. So when you gave聽
to his legal defense fund, you thought you were聽聽
[508]
giving to that, you weren't, the first $5,000聽
did not go to the legal defense fund. They聽聽
[512]
explained that in an asterix, and 75% of that聽
money went to something called Save America.
[518]
And they explained that Save America is not a聽
campaign PAC, where they would have to spend聽聽
[522]
the money on the campaign. It's a leadership PAC,聽
which is another slush fund, and they could spend聽聽
[528]
it anywhere they like, including on million聽
dollar salaries. So is anybody ever gonna find聽聽
[533]
out about whether money went for Save America聽
or the new shell company from Jared Kushner?
[538]
We don't know. But the final聽
piece of irony on all this,聽聽
[541]
Jared's dad went to jail. He went to聽
jail for illegal campaign contributions.
