welcome back to classic recapped today i am  going to explain a horror drama called gotem  

be ready for some spoilers are ahead episode 1  of gotum gravitates around a young girl at school  

called ceo huey she's haunted by the death  of her equally intelligent classmate jaiyee  

excusing herself from the class ceo hughie wanders  down the hallway where the lights start flickering  

suddenly something strange begins to happen  a girl in the photo starts smiling as well as  

she also rolls her eyes see oh hughie sensing  someone nearby she starts biting her nails and  

heads into the bathroom in the distance a ghostly  figure disappears from view as seo huey looks set  

to smoke a cigarette an ominous creaking in the  stall next to her leads the girl to find a strange  

figure disappear into the toilet as everything  descends down into silence the ghostly figure  

plastered in blood appears and giggles she just  tells her that i found you the next scene shows  

co-huey upside down in the toilet with the blood  soaked stall a gruesome crime scene we cut back  

to that poster from before this time though ceo  huey's mouth contorts up into an awkward smile  

just like hijai episode 2 of godam aptly titled  his destination which is all about a taxi driver  

on the road it also appears to be a direct  connection toward the giro highway ghost legend  

the story itself begins with a taxi driver  struggling to keep his eyes open while driving  

noticing that the traffic lights are flashing he  does the sensible thing and pulls over to the side  

of the road to rest the time reads 3.30 am and  the taxi driver is well and truly asleep asleep  

that is until a strange girl gets in the back of  the cab and requests a ride sanjiang motel and  

ilson please shaking the fuzzy sleet from his mind  the driver struggles to find the motel on the gps  

given she knows the way he heads off on the  road she eerily tells him to turn right but with  

nowhere to turn he calls her crazy and continues  to drive forward however she leans in with sharp  

nail hands almost like talons and looks to grab  him he is startled he looks back but she's not  

there instead she's standing in front of the car  slamming on the brakes he hits his head on the  

steering wheel and notices the girl in the back  seat again crying blood the twisted female keeps  

the screaming driver glued to the seat as she  removes her eyeballs and presents them to him  

as he screams in pain seeing his own eyes within  these removed eyeballs the scene skips forward the  

taxi driver has no eyeballs and the taxi drives  off on its own with him in place on the ground  

are his two severed eyeballs from before which is  where the episode ends episode 3 of gotum begins  

with two schoolgirls discussing a clip online and  wondering whether the video they're watching is a  

hoax or not their appetite gets the better of  them though when they both head inside to eat  

on the way one of the girls sprains her ankle  this prompts min jung to hurry away to get help  

inside the classroom she opens one of the lockers  but finds a creepy doll sitting next to her books  

sensing something very wrong she leaves to  head down the hallway but hears creepy laughter  

following her as the camera pans around the doll  suddenly smiles min young gasps as a strange  

undead girl contorts and twists in place on all  fours she charges toward min young and follows her  

down the stairs however the stairs seemed to be  endless continuously converging on the free slash  

2 floor that her friend fell and heard her ankle  on unfortunately this creature catches up to her  

with glowing yellow eyes the pupils continuously  expand until min young screams in fear as the  

scene cuts to her friend she heads upstairs  just as minion creeps down stalking her  

episode 4 of godan begins in class as a group of  schoolgirls discuss jin jones jumping in front  

of a moving truck however they're interrupted  by the teacher arriving stern face to discuss  

the death of that very same student tellingly  up on the wall is a picture of the two students  

from the opening episode as it turns out the dead  schoolgirl was actually being bullied and involved  

in a group chat haisu leaves the group chat after  feeling guilty and immediately phones the teacher  

asking her to meet in the classroom  dressed in high-heeled red shoes  

this woman shows up but finds heisu a shadow of  what she once was with blood stinging her face  

and her legs twisted and severed the teacher  realizes that this is actually jinjom the girl  

looks up in grins telling her heisu's legs don't  fit and asks to switch as screams pierce the air  

jin jiung snatches up her legs and staggers  out of the classroom with those same red shoes  

her feet twist awkwardly on the floor and as  she staggers up the hallway the episode comes  

to a close episode 5 of gotem is easily the  strongest episode of this horror anthology  

and revolves around a pretty famous urban  legend involving an interdimensional elevator  

with some great build up and nice use of tension  this urban legend is brought to life in a suitably  

creepy fashion it begins with a boy standing in  an elevator but suddenly grabbing his ears in pain  

seeing something in front of him he suddenly  starts convulsing and collapses in the morning  

several police officers look over the details of  the case in particular they discuss the logistics  

of how this elevator works including its presumed  ability to travel between dimensions at 24 am  

that evening the lead officer returns to  the office block and checks out the elevator  

for himself as the door closes he looks over  instructions from the printed out sheet he holds  

as he moves between floors the fourth  floor opens to pitch black nothingness  

until that suddenly changes to a mirror image of  himself in the lift just before pressing floor 1  

a hand comes out of nowhere and sends the lift  back up again as it does a strange girl dressed  

in black appears inside and asks to go back  down again when the woman turns around her  

grotesque twisted face shows a blackened eye a  consistent motif from this anthology of course  

and starts slamming the man's head against the  wall however the security footage simply shows  

this officer hitting his own head only as the door  opens it reveals the two other police officers  

who remarked that the clothes the deceased are  wearing look eerily similar to the one on duty  

as the episode closes out two schoolgirls enter  that very same elevator and start trying out the  

game episode six of godem begins at a family  home as a worried mother tells her husband  

not to remove the paper talisman from the shelf  she goes on to mention a cop possibly the one from  

the previous episode and a boy who has recently  died because of this they're all on edge in the  

morning this same man leaves his room but finds  a clump of hair stuck in the frame of the door  

pulling it out the tuft of hair he  holds brings with it a piercing scream  

after a hard day of work the drunk man peels  off the paper talisman he crumples it up in  

his hand throwing it on the floor stumbling  forward he passes out face down on the bed  

with the door left open blood seeps out the  foundations as severed limbs start creeping across  

the room as a spatter of blood hits his cheek  the man notices a hand crawling across the floor  

that hand finds its way onto a faceless form  that stalks him mercilessly out the room  

growling menacingly the man begs it to stop  it's too late the creature slashes him with  

his hand and leaves the man a bloodied mess on  the floor which is where the episode ends episode  

vii of godum is one of the more indifferent  and forgettable episodes of the anthology  

this one revolves around a virtual ghost  specifically one that haunts sae rom's v-log  

for virtual housework sae rom starts the episode  off as the live chat explodes with comments  

however as she talks one of her plushies  falls on the floor convincing her fans that  

she didn't stage this she returns to the screen  excitedly talking again midway through her chat  

sae rom thanks her fans for reaching thirty  zero zero zero zero balloons after asking the  

viewers about blankets things soon take a turn  for the eerie when a book falls off the shelf  

visibly scared her fans contemplate whether this  is a fake or not as essay e-rom ends the broadcast  

she tells them all she's off to see rin's place  to finish broadcasting until she reveals it's all  

one big hoax unbeknownst to her though the camera  is still recording despite the chat room freezing  

grabbing her phone she starts taking selfies but  with the filters they suddenly start filling the  

screen and appear to hint at numerous people  around her frozen to her seat sae rom suddenly  

starts bashing her face continuously against the  keyboard as she passes out on the ground another  

version of sae rom a doppelganger perhaps suddenly  comes onto the view and introduces herself as sae  

rom which is where the episode ends episode 8 of  gotem expands out beyond its korean urban legends  

to include some pretty dangerous ritualistic magic  in the form of yomi this essentially proves to be  

an origin story of sorts attempting to bridge the  gap between the different episodes unfortunately  

the execution is lacking the story itself begins  with a white rogue woman walking downstairs  

and dropping a bowl full of food through a small  slot hungry arms grab the bowl and scurry away  

out of all the episodes this is the one that  actually bothers to add some exposition as we  

soon learn there is a grotesque hex called yomi  in the country shamans abduct children and starve  

them until they're nearly dead they then capture  their spirits and keep their soul after praying  

this woman heads downstairs and captures a young  child stabbing repeatedly until he or she is dead  

convulsing on the spot the woman suddenly switches  her eye around to reveal a much smaller pupil  

could this mean she's been possessed by the spirit  outside she buries a box holding severed feet and  

laughs maniacally up at the sky back inside she  reads the fortune of a middle-aged woman and  

tells her she should get divorced from her husband  struggling to keep her composure and presumably  

her form this woman continues to read fortunes  as the entire room starts to shake around her  

this lonely mother begs for help in finding her  daughter as the candles go out in the room this  

child's spirit is strong and seems to possess the  woman inside her eye the pupil paves the way to  

show a child banging both fists against the cornea  begging to be released that evening the woman  

awakens and is unable to control herself twisting  and contorting while the soul struggles to break  

free from her eventually a tiny hand burst out  of her stomach as she collapses on the ground  

from within this child appears to be born outside  a woman hangs from a tree while the camera pans  

across to the spot where the severed feet were  buried the drama ends here thanks for watching
