(students rapping)
[9]
(rap music)
[15]
- They don't know that 21 Savage is here.
[17]
They literally just pulled up
[18]
with Congressman Hank Johnson.
[20]
We're very excited.
[21]
Students are gonna lose their minds!
[23]
Alright, they're coming in.
[25]
(keys rattling)
[27]
(clamoring)
[30]
- We're K through 12, but the majority
[32]
of our students are middle and high.
[34]
Our high school students,
[36]
it's a little bit larger population.
[37]
Because we do service at-risk students,
[40]
we give them that opportunity that
[42]
sometimes they don't get in public school.
[45]
I wanted those students to be able to see
[48]
that you could have the best of
[50]
everything if you work hard.
[53]
You may not be an entertainer,
[55]
you may not be an athlete, but hard work pays off.
[58]
- I want to thank you for allowing
[61]
this event to take place at this school.
[64]
When he hit a wall about six, seven weeks ago,
[71]
about his immigration status.
[74]
At that point, seems like some people have decided that
[80]
he is too controversial to allow into schools
[86]
to talk with school kids.
[89]
- Regardless of where you were born,
[91]
that doesn't define who you are or your character.
[93]
- [21 Savage] Yeah, nah.
[95]
- And so, who cares, right? - [21 Savage] Right.
[96]
- So we're very glad that you're here.
[98]
We know you have a awesome program
[99]
that you wanna share with our students
[101]
to teach them about money management,
[103]
and your partnership with Juma.
[104]
That is completely amazing.
[106]
I don't know of another celebrity
[107]
who has done this in my lifetime.
[108]
- [21 Savage] Right.
[109]
- I've gotten basketball players growing up,
[111]
coming to the school, athletes, but
[112]
never someone coming with this angle.
[114]
So we really do appreciate this learning
[116]
and enrichment opportunity that we have,
[117]
that you're gonna provide today.
[119]
So we're really excited and if you're up for it,
[121]
we wanna show you a little bit of our school
[122]
and some of the amazing artwork that they've done.
[125]
And let me tell you, they don't even know you're coming.
[127]
Alright, you ready to go?
[128]
- Yeah, I'm ready.
[129]
- [Ethel] Alright.
[130]
(upbeat music)
[144]
- So this is our artwork, this is the first one.
[147]
- Oh, he drew that?
[148]
- Yeah, that's the first one.
[149]
- I'm gonna introduce you to that student.
[151]
(laughing)
[153]
- So, our 7th grader drew this.
[156]
He has no idea that you are here and
[158]
he decided to draw you and that is his envision of you.
[162]
(laughing and chatter)
[169]
- [21 Savage] Wassup, ya'll? Wassup?
[171]
- [Ethel] This is 21 Savage. I know some of you know him.
[174]
- [21 Savage] Hey, how ya'll doin?
[175]
- [Ethel] Awesome entertainer and his group.
[177]
- [21 Savage] Wassup? What chya'll doin?
[179]
- [Class] Working.
[180]
(laughing)
[180]
- Working? That's good. That's good. That's good.
[183]
I'm gonna give ya'll a problem, alright?
[185]
(students chattering)
[196]
- [Student] Um, 21?
[197]
- Yeah.
[198]
(laughing)
[200]
(clapping)
[201]
- [Student] Bank account.
[203]
- Bank account. Yall know what a bank account is, right?
[204]
- [Students in the Class] Yeah.
[208]
That's what a bank accounts for right there.
[211]
Saving money, investing money, and making your life easy.
[216]
(chattering)
[222]
- [21 Savage] Throwing up a peace sign. You alright?
[224]
What's your name?
[227]
- Jeavarus.
[228]
- How you spell it?
[229]
(student begins spelling name)
[234]
- Grow up and hit this cruel world.
[236]
- Yeah, yeah.
[238]
- [Ethel] The girls are freaking out already.
[241]
(students emotionally crying)
[243]
- What up?
[245]
- Why ya'll emotional? What's up?
[247]
- It's okay. Don't cry.
[249]
- What's up? What you crying for, buddy? You alright?
[251]
(crying)
[254]
- You alright?
[256]
(students crying)
[260]
- Everybody smile.
[262]
- You killed it, bro.
[263]
- Ya'll stay in school. Stay away from bad people and
[266]
guns and stuff. Alright?
[268]
As long as ya'll do that, I'm gonna come back and
[270]
see ya'll all the time. Okay?
[271]
- [Ethel] Alright, we got his word.
[274]
We're gonna hold you to it. Alright.
[277]
- He's cool. He's chillin.
[278]
(laughing)
[281]
- [Congressman] Yo, give it up for 21 Savage.
[283]
(applauding)
[286]
He had 3 years from being in his bed room, with
[290]
his pencil and pad, to the time he was supposed to be
[294]
at the Grammy's.
[296]
I mean, so that tells you, you can do anything
[300]
in this country if you put your mind to it.
[303]
Ya'll give it up for 21 Savage again.
[306]
(clapping)
[311]
- How's everybody doing?
[312]
- [Audience] Good.
[314]
How many of ya'll got bank accounts?
[317]
I got a program called the
[318]
Bank Account Financial Literacy Program.
[320]
And you can do it online, or we're having workshops.
[325]
And I partnered up with Get Schooled and Juma,
[328]
and we're gonna be giving away 150 jobs.
[330]
And every week, we're gonna be releasing a new badge.
[333]
And this week, we're releasing the Stack Yo Money Badge.
[337]
How many of ya'll wanna stack ya'll money?
[341]
Everybody hands supposed to be raised for that.
[343]
- [Jewell] We have a surprise for you all.
[345]
Just before you leave,
[346]
we want you to take a seat on the front row.
[351]
- [Jewell] And they wrote everything themselves.
[352]
- [21 Savage] Black History rap. I wanna hear this.
[354]
(students rapping)
[401]
(Clapping)
[404]
- Man, that's hard! That shit's hard!
[409]
(upbeat music)
