[0]
Oh, the incredible world of investment apps! Today聽 i want to share with you the difference between聽聽
[4]
stash and robinhood the title of the video is you聽 might be surprised and I'll go through exactly聽聽
[9]
what that means so stay tuned let's get started聽 with the video did you know only in one in three聽聽
[15]
millennials actually invest their money and that聽 actually includes retirement accounts that is not聽聽
[20]
good millennials we need to start investing聽 that's a very very important thing because聽聽
[25]
long term you can pay off significantly and build聽 your nest egg and your net worth that you deserve聽聽
[31]
what broke down that barrier to entry is these聽 investment apps you got Webull you got robin hood聽聽
[37]
you got acorns you got stash and in my last video聽 that i just did comparing Webull and robinhood a聽聽
[43]
lot of people ask well what about stash well what聽 about stash that's what we're talking about today聽聽
[48]
I'm gonna put head to head the stash investment聽 app with the robinhood investment app and which聽聽
[53]
one is better for you what i'm gonna start off聽 with first is the similarities between both of聽聽
[57]
these apps then we're going to dive into the聽 differences and why you might be surprised with聽聽
[63]
which one i would recommend now i'm not one of聽 those guys that starts one of these videos and聽聽
[68]
it's a sponsored video where i have never聽 used this investment app and I'm just trying聽聽
[73]
to regurgitate crap that i haven't used no no no聽 this is not a sponsored video and in fact i've聽聽
[79]
used both of these investment apps stash i used聽 a little bit longer now stash i've used for about聽聽
[83]
two years now robinhood I've been in that game聽 for about eight months so i have used these things聽聽
[89]
i have transferred money in transferred money聽 out purchased stocks sold stocks and everything聽聽
[95]
in between so when i tell you the difference is聽 I've been through them and i want to share them聽聽
[100]
with you so let's start with the similarities聽 similarities with stash and robinhood is that聽聽
[105]
they both offer fractional shares long story short聽 in the past when you wanted to buy one share of a聽聽
[112]
company you had to put up the entire cost of that聽 share for example let's take a look right now at聽聽
[118]
apple yeah at the recording of this video apple's聽 going for 119 bucks guess what that means for you聽聽
[124]
in the past you would have to put up 119 bucks聽 but thanks to fractional shares you can put up聽聽
[130]
the amount of money that you have available and聽 get a fraction of that full share so let's say you聽聽
[135]
only have five dollars we can put in five dollars聽 and get the equivalent of five dollars worth of聽聽
[141]
the share of apple then as the market goes up聽 and down and that share price changes you get the聽聽
[146]
opportunity of either getting your five dollars聽 to go up or down depending on the market timing so聽聽
[151]
that has made it really cool and very easy聽 to start investing with either one of these聽聽
[155]
apps some other similarities they're both free to聽 download from the app store the google play store聽聽
[159]
onto your smartphone you can also use them on the聽 web you can go on to a browser if you have a home聽聽
[165]
computer or something like that you can certainly聽 use it that way but i find that a lot of people聽聽
[169]
like to use the app because you're as you're聽 traveling going out into the world you can pull聽聽
[174]
up your stock portfolio and see how you're doing聽 they both allow automatic investments and i think聽聽
[178]
this is where it's very cool in the past you've聽 heard me talk about Starbucks i gave up Starbucks聽聽
[183]
and what i do now is i take that five dollars per聽 week that i was putting towards Starbucks coffee聽聽
[188]
and i put it toward this so what i do now is i聽 have five dollars per week automatically going聽聽
[193]
into stash i have ten dollars a week automatically聽 going into robinhood if you don't have a lot of聽聽
[198]
money to start that's fine you can transfer as聽 little as like one dollar into either one of these聽聽
[204]
and just do that week by week it'll聽 automatically debit it out of your bank account聽聽
[208]
and invest it into whatever you'd like but let's聽 get to the good stuff right you want to know why聽聽
[213]
am i going to be surprised bob and furthermore聽 what are the big differences between these two聽聽
[217]
if you're looking to get started off so聽 over here I'm going to talk about stash聽聽
[221]
over there I'm going to talk about robinhood let's聽 compare him the very first thing is what these聽聽
[226]
these investment apps actually offer stash offers聽 things like stock trading and a lot of banking聽聽
[233]
so you can do like your IRA you can do聽 a debit card you can do things like that聽聽
[238]
which makes it cool for the everyday new investor聽 that's what's nice about stash now robinhood a聽聽
[244]
little bit more advanced they don't offer things聽 like the ira and the banking and the debit card聽聽
[249]
at least not at this time but they do offer things聽 that stash does not cryptocurrency so if you're聽聽
[254]
into bitcoin Ethereum and all the cryptocurrency聽 things out there robinhood allows you to invest聽聽
[260]
in that cryptocurrency so you might want to check聽 that out they also allow you to purchase the聽聽
[264]
stocks very similar to stash but they also allow聽 you to purchase options now options is a little聽聽
[269]
bit more of an advanced tactic it's not for the聽 beginners of these investment apps but as you want聽聽
[274]
to scale up as you grow your knowledge in these聽 investment worlds robinhood allows you to scale聽聽
[280]
that up with purchase of options if you wish to do聽 so another key difference between these two which聽聽
[285]
is a little bit strange but in my past video i you聽 know when i was comparing Webull app to robin hood聽聽
[291]
i talked about how Webull is a little bit聽 more difficult to navigate takes a little bit聽聽
[294]
more advanced knowledge and robinhood is fairly聽 easy well I'll still say that robinhood is easy聽聽
[299]
but I'm also going to say that stash is very聽 very easy let me give you a great example let's聽聽
[305]
say you transfer in five dollars and you want to聽 put that five dollars into the stock market with聽聽
[310]
stash you can go into their app and they聽 make it kind of simple to understand they聽聽
[315]
basically put all the investment in layman's聽 terms for example you can go in and click on聽聽
[320]
their investment options for beginners and one聽 that i particularly like is delicious dividends聽聽
[327]
now delicious dividends well that is an actual ETF聽 that you can trade on the market but they break it聽聽
[332]
down and they have a cool little image they caught聽 delicious dividends and they explain what it's聽聽
[336]
all about these are companies that typically pay聽 anywhere from a quarterly to a monthly dividend聽聽
[342]
that you get extra money on top of the growth聽 of that particular stock now the big difference聽聽
[347]
here is if you scroll to the bottom of delicious聽 dividends you will notice that it does state this聽聽
[352]
is the Schwab u.s dividend equity etf so that has聽 its own ticker symbol but you don't have to worry聽聽
[359]
about that within stash you can just type in what聽 you believe in let's say it's the travel industry聽聽
[364]
let's say it's new technology it makes it super聽 super simple to understand thanks to stash and聽聽
[370]
how they organize their modes of investments now聽 with robinhood makes it a little bit more tricky聽聽
[376]
because you need to know the particular ticker聽 symbol so with robinhood let's say you do want to聽聽
[381]
invest in what stash calls delicious dividends you聽 would have to know the ticker symbol which by the聽聽
[385]
way if you don't know it is s c h d and then you聽 can go into that now where this is kind of nice聽聽
[391]
though from a robin hood perspective i'm actually聽 going to jump over and look at apple again the聽聽
[396]
individual stock of apple and i do like the amount聽 of information that's that robin hood provides聽聽
[404]
unlike stash for example you can see the analyst聽 ratings on this particular stock or really any聽聽
[409]
stock that you pull up it lets you know if they're聽 stating that you should buy it hold it sell it聽聽
[415]
that's their recommendation and then it gives聽 you some news on the topic it also gives you聽聽
[419]
some information between what people are saying聽 about the stock and i think that's really helpful聽聽
[424]
and that gives you a little bit more control so聽 you can not only learn about the stock market but聽聽
[428]
you can say you know what does this make sense to聽 me do i want to keep moving forward with it stash聽聽
[433]
while they do offer news and some things like that聽 it's not as detailed as robin hood so just keep聽聽
[438]
that in mind let's talk about another difference聽 and that is free stuff and free benefits you get聽聽
[443]
when you sign up for either one of these apps聽 because who doesn't like free stuff i mean right聽聽
[447]
give me a like if you like free stuff and if you聽 don't like the video you don't like free stuff聽聽
[453]
come on tap that like button down below when you聽 get started with robinhood you don't even have聽聽
[459]
to deposit any money you can just sign up for an聽 account this is what it looks like they're gonna聽聽
[463]
give you a free stock just for signing up it can聽 be something small something typical maybe it's a聽聽
[471]
five dollar stock six dollar stock whatever they聽 do but you do have a chance to get a bigger stock聽聽
[477]
about i think it's like one in 500 one in 300聽 something like that could get a big one like an聽聽
[481]
apple or a tesla or one of the big boy stocks聽 so definitely worth checking out and what you聽聽
[486]
could do is sign up get your free stock and just聽 let it sit and check it out and see what happens聽聽
[492]
and before you invest your money you can see what聽 it's all about with the free stock that you own聽聽
[496]
and then as you get comfortable then you can聽 decide if you want to transfer money in or not聽聽
[500]
with stash they offer a lot of different聽 type of free offers when you first sign up聽聽
[506]
sometimes it can be five dollars when you sign聽 up sometimes it can be as much as twenty dollars聽聽
[510]
when you sign up and sometimes they do offer free聽 stocks so both links to robinhood and stash are聽聽
[516]
down below in the description when you click聽 on those those do have the promotions applied聽聽
[520]
the latest and greatest promotions so check聽 both of them out and see what they're offering聽聽
[524]
and make the best decision for yourself how about聽 we cut through the bs talk about the title of this聽聽
[530]
video you might be surprised in the next couple聽 comparisons I'm going to do between these two聽聽
[535]
this i think is what's going to make or break your聽 decision so here we go the first thing is going to聽聽
[542]
be a little bit of a bust on robinhood come on聽 robinhood you guys if you're watching this video聽聽
[547]
you've got to get your act together and figure聽 out how to make this happen but it is contact聽聽
[551]
information with stash if you need to get a hold聽 of somebody if you have an issue something's going聽聽
[556]
on you can contact them via email you can contact聽 them in the app you can contact them on the phone聽聽
[562]
pick up your phone call stash and say yo i got a聽 problem robin hood you can contact them on email聽聽
[568]
or the app no phone number so if that's something聽 that's serious to you and you're like you know i聽聽
[573]
really need to have a phone number i need to be聽 able to pick up the phone and call somebody if i聽聽
[577]
need something or have a question with robinhood聽 your sol and in fact you would have to wait until聽聽
[583]
they reply to your email now if you don't really聽 care about that if you're like yeah i'm not like聽聽
[587]
in that mad rush i can send an email contact them聽 via the app and just let it sit then that's cool聽聽
[593]
but if you're somebody that you you know you kind聽 of feel that anxiety coming on you need to pick up聽聽
[597]
that phone you might want to lean a little bit聽 more towards stash but now for this next one聽聽
[602]
i'm going to bust on stash cost with robinhood聽 it's free you sign up for the app you can put as聽聽
[611]
much money or as little money as possible into the聽 stock market or into cryptocurrency or whatever聽聽
[615]
you want to use robinhood for and they don't聽 charge you a monthly fee or anything like that聽聽
[621]
stash charges a monthly fee and it's something聽 to be serious about it's not a whole lot of聽聽
[626]
money it's one dollar per month some of you聽 might be like but i don't want to pay one聽聽
[632]
dollar per month well that's the case you might聽 want to lean a little bit more toward robin hood聽聽
[637]
especially when it comes down to fractional share聽 trading great way to enter the investment and聽聽
[641]
stock market but one dollar a month for some聽 people if you break down the cost of how this聽聽
[647]
works it's kind of an annoyance the last thing聽 is yes another bust on stash but it is what it is聽聽
[654]
and that's the trading windows stash has聽 specific trading windows and a lot of people聽聽
[659]
get confused and a little bit frustrated with聽 this when it comes down to trading on stash聽聽
[663]
for example you want to sell one of your etfs you聽 want to sell one of your stocks whatever it may be聽聽
[669]
and you hit sell everything's fine and聽 you know that you sold it for like 50 okay聽聽
[675]
and you're like okay i should get 50 into my聽 account all of a sudden you get 47. well wait聽聽
[681]
a minute what happened to your money did they rob聽 you did stash lose money what the heck happened聽聽
[685]
well what happens is because of the specific聽 trading windows during the market being open聽聽
[691]
that price could fluctuate they have it once聽 in the morning and once in the afternoon and聽聽
[696]
that is the trading window so if you hop on first聽 thing in the morning before that trading window聽聽
[701]
and you decide to sell you just got to keep聽 in mind if that price is fluctuating a lot聽聽
[706]
in that stock for that particular day you could聽 end up taking a little bit of a dive on the聽聽
[711]
converse you might get a little bit of a rise聽 depending on what that stock price is but just聽聽
[715]
something to keep in mind with robinhood they聽 typically execute as long as the market's open聽聽
[720]
immediately so when you sell 50 you usually get聽 your 50 and all is good just something to keep聽聽
[726]
in mind now which one would i recommend to you i i聽 don't know about you but i would say that a lot of聽聽
[731]
people would be surprised at the fact that you got聽 to pay a one dollar monthly service fee for stash聽聽
[736]
and that robin hood doesn't want to hear from聽 you so don't call them but at the end of the day聽聽
[743]
it's a toss-up i use both of them okay i use聽 both of them because it's just it's something聽聽
[748]
i like to do and they're both easy to use so you聽 know if you're really torn try them both out for聽聽
[754]
a month or two see which one works best and ditch聽 the other one if you want or like me just continue聽聽
[760]
to use both of them and maybe have two different聽 investment strategies in each one of these apps聽聽
[764]
but if you had to choose one just one i would聽 probably lean toward robin hood at the moment聽聽
[770]
yes i i don't really care too much about聽 the phone call thing but i like the idea of聽聽
[775]
being able to scale up i like the idea of being聽 able to dabble in cryptocurrency if i want to聽聽
[780]
or maybe do some stock options and i like the聽 amount of detail that's provided in the robinhood聽聽
[786]
app and the fact that i can execute a share聽 immediately was there something i missed in this聽聽
[791]
video do you have any other questions about stash聽 versus robinhood if so comment down below I'm聽聽
[796]
active on the channel and I'll be sure to get back聽 to you right away otherwise as always continue聽聽
