Clone Hardware Wallets. Same Seed on Multiple Devices (Trezor, Ledger, Keepkey, Coldcard, SafePal) - YouTube

Channel: Crypto Guide

[0]
you can have the same seed phrase on a
[1]
bunch of different hardware wallets at
[4]
the same time there are two questions on
[6]
reddit I see all the time what if the
[9]
manufacturer of my hardware while it
[10]
goes away
[11]
can I still recover my funds and I've
[13]
got a trizol one and I bought a Tresor
[15]
tea you know how do I move the funds
[18]
from this one to this one this video
[20]
what I've done is restored this seed
[22]
phrase here on to a bunch of different
[24]
hardware wallets and basically I'll just
[26]
be looking at the way that you can see
[29]
the same accounts the same transactions
[30]
are only different wallets and how that
[34]
works in a fairly transparent way if you
[36]
haven't already done so you hit
[37]
subscribe that way you can stay in the
[39]
loop about content I make to help you
[40]
find your way in the crazy of a hostile
[43]
environment that is cryptocurrency so if
[45]
you have a look on the screen what we
[46]
can see is the same Bitcoin transaction
[48]
represented in ledger live in Trez or in
[52]
the safe pal in shape-shift and in
[56]
electrum I'll put them all on the screen
[58]
at once and you can see for example it
[60]
if I make a new transaction here that it
[62]
will actually appear in all of these
[63]
wallets at the same time and again that
[67]
is because these same keys are now being
[69]
stored on all of these different hyper
[70]
wallets that I have and I can use any
[72]
one of them to send a transaction that
[75]
will automatically stay in sync across
[77]
all of the other ones when people ask
[79]
the question of you know how do I move
[80]
my funds from my old trizol on to my new
[82]
one often what's going on here is people
[85]
are misunderstanding how their Hardware
[88]
wallet works you know a lot of people
[89]
when they're new in the space basically
[91]
assume that their Hardware wallet is
[93]
like a USB stick that you know the
[95]
crypto they have like lives on there
[97]
rather than living on the blockchain
[99]
it's basically your seed phrase being
[102]
stored in here that is your wallet and
[106]
that all your wallet does is provide a
[108]
secure way for you to use this you know
[112]
it doesn't store the crypto in the
[114]
wallet or anything like that
[116]
but the other thing is that there's
[118]
actually nothing you know Trez or
[120]
specific about the way that your wallet
[122]
stores and uses this seed and that means
[125]
that you can move between different
[127]
vendors if the Hardwell supplier you
[129]
haven't goes out of business you can
[131]
import your seed to a new wallet and
[133]
off and running again this highlights
[135]
just how important it is to keep your
[137]
seed safe if someone finds your 20
[139]
forward seed they can restore it into a
[141]
software or hardware wallet and they'll
[143]
be able to access all of your funds even
[145]
if they don't have the pin to your
[147]
physical device and you won't know that
[149]
they have that until it's too late if
[151]
you want to have two or three different
[152]
wallets from different vendors one of
[154]
the big advantage of doing this is time
[155]
to time that we issues that come up with
[157]
a particular hardware wallet and for a
[159]
particular vendor you know maybe they'll
[160]
be an update in Windows that breaks
[162]
things and causes driver issues or you
[165]
know those kinds of things and sometimes
[166]
having a second wallet from a different
[168]
vendor can be great because their
[170]
implementation may not be impacted by
[172]
that change or might get remedied much
[175]
faster the other thing that can happen
[177]
sometimes you'll find that some wallets
[179]
support some features and others don't
[181]
and for example while it's like safe
[182]
pals and le pals and things like that
[184]
you know often don't support advanced
[187]
features like signing messages having a
[190]
second while it can also be really
[191]
useful if you're trying to move all your
[192]
funds onto a new seed in that it makes
[194]
it much less stressful to be able to
[197]
have both accounts sitting there so you
[200]
can see the funds moving from one to
[201]
another you can confirm the send and
[204]
receive addresses from one to another on
[206]
the hardware wallets rather than having
[208]
to do things like import your seed into
[210]
a software wallet and send it that way
[211]
or create a paper wallet bib 39 seed and
[216]
send the funds there then import that
[218]
into your wallet or send it all onto an
[220]
exchange or all these different sorts of
[222]
things it helps you to get familiar with
[224]
the process of restoring your seed onto
[226]
different wallets and it also means that
[228]
you could experiment with things like
[229]
multi signature though I'll definitely
[231]
say that multisig in an advanced feature
[232]
that you really really really need to be
[235]
familiar with what you're doing before
[236]
you start playing with that it is worth
[237]
considering that if you want to have
[239]
multiple wallets that not all of the
[241]
wallets support the same currencies and
[243]
for example lock hold card is a Bitcoin
[244]
only wallet so if you're someone who
[246]
holds a bunch of alt coins
[247]
having a cold card it might not be for
[249]
you likewise
[251]
things like a safe pal actually only
[253]
support using one account per crypto so
[257]
for example if you have multiple Bitcoin
[258]
accounts on your trees or the safe power
[261]
will only allow you to access the first
[264]
one nevermind the fact
[266]
that different wallets have different
[268]
levels of support for things like seg
[270]
wit the other thing to consider is if
[272]
you have your seed on multiple high
[273]
walls from multiple vendors you're
[275]
actually exposing yourself to
[277]
essentially all of the potential
[278]
security breaches on both though it is
[281]
worth mentioning that using a good bit
[282]
39 passphrase is actually quite
[284]
straightforward to set up and will
[286]
mitigate most of the risks around key
[288]
extraction while also increasing the
[290]
security of your offline seed backups at
[292]
the same time I've done a video on that
[294]
before and just make sure that if you do
[296]
use a bit 39 passphrase that you include
[299]
this as part of your backup plan if
[300]
you're really worried about security of
[301]
your seed you might do something like
[303]
have a second Hardware while it may be a
[304]
cheaper one like a keep key you know you
[306]
can get them for $10 if you kyc on
[308]
shape-shift in a veil with like $5
[310]
during Black Friday sales and you might
[313]
have a second wallet that you keep that
[315]
you set up that you are get familiar
[317]
with using but then that you wipe and
[318]
leave uninitialized that's there if you
[321]
need it rather than buying to expensive
[323]
hard walls to have as a backup if you
[324]
think about we worth getting a second
[325]
Hardware wallet you're not sure which
[326]
one to get I've actually got a summary
[328]
of lots of different Hardware bolts
[329]
different features they have on my
[331]
website and i've got affiliate links
[333]
there it found my content useful you
[334]
find information that website useful you
[336]
could buy the wallet using those links
[337]
and help me out in the process thanks
[340]
for watching I hope that was helpful
[341]
hit like if you think that other people
[343]
would find this video useful and hit
[344]
subscribe if you'd like to be kept in
[346]
the loop about future content I make
[348]
that helps people stay safe in the
[349]
crypto space and to recover if they get
[351]
into trouble if you have any questions
[353]
about this video or a topic that you'd
[355]
like me to cover just leave a reply
