MyEtherWallet (MEW) Tutorial - How to Export Private Keys & ERC20 Tokens - YouTube
Channel: Every Bit Helps
[1]
Hi I'm Crypto Lou and stainle be taking
you through my ether wallet so I'm going
[6]
to be covering today what is there my
ether wallet how to create an ether
[10]
wallet my ether wallet features how to
send and receive and how to import
[15]
private keys so my teeth wallet is a
fast easy and reliable type of aetherium
[21]
wallet it's a web-based wallet however
it's not quite like traditional
[25]
web-based wallets in the fact that you
don't go through and create an account
[29]
for yourselves it's more like just
giving you access to the etherion
[32]
blockchain and because you don't create
that account they don't store any
[36]
information at all so therefore it's
more secure so if you're currently
[39]
storing your etherium on an exchange
then it can be a little bit risky
[43]
so moving across to my eastern wallet
would be a really good step it's also
[47]
good if you're doing i ciose as it
supports the ERC 20 if they're m tokens
[52]
so to get to the my ether wallet site
what you need to do is type in w WM is a
[58]
wallet comm now it's worth pointing out
that they don't actually currently have
[62]
an up however a fake my ether wallet
made it's number 3 in the app store
[68]
recently and that happened a few days
ago also
[71]
myzel wallet did confirm in a tweet
where they then said this is not asked
[75]
we have for reports and emailed and
reported would appreciate the
[79]
community's assistance in getting these
scam cards out of our lives
[82]
there are also phishing attacks going on
at the moment and where the emails are
[87]
going out that has my mind is the wallet
calm so please ensure that you put in
[92]
the exact address into your address bar
or better still just save it as a
[96]
bookmark so as I said previously you do
not create an account with my ISA wallet
[102]
calm and they don't hold your keys for
you so therefore they can't access your
[106]
accounts they can't recover the keys
they can't reset passwords and they
[110]
can't reverse transactions therefore
what you need to do is protect your keys
[113]
and always check that you are in the
correct URL like I said make sure that
[117]
you are always going to WWE wallet comm
so what we're gonna do now is take us
[122]
through creating a new wallet so here
you can see you've got the create new
[126]
wallet section and my is the wallet I've
got some really good help in here as
[130]
well so if you can't wanted to click
onto how to create a wallet
[133]
it then takes you through all the steps
in here so please feel free to take a
[137]
look through those so the first thing we
need to do here is enter in a password
[140]
to create our new wallet now this
password is really important make sure
[145]
you remember that
like I said they cannot reset your
[147]
password for you if you lose this
password you will then lose access to
[151]
getting into this wallet so it's really
important that you save this or ensure
[155]
that you always remember this password
so I've just typed in my password now
[159]
this is just a test account at the
moment so I'm going to click on to
[162]
create new wallet next up we need to do
is we need to save our keystore file so
[168]
you can't actually move along and you
can't progress until you've done so so
[172]
what you're down doing is downloading
your keystore file which is UTC JSON
[176]
like it says here once you are done
loading it do not lose it it cannot be
[181]
recovered if you lose it do not share it
your funds will be stolen if you use
[185]
this file and a malicious or phishing
site and make a backup secure it like
[189]
the million of dollars it may be worth
one day so what we're gonna do is click
[192]
on to download now what this is is an
encrypted file that you're downloading
[196]
at the moment so it needs to have a
password to then open it then we click
[201]
on to I understand and continue then we
provided with the private key so this
[207]
private key is really important if
you're not aware of what private keys
[211]
are this is your lock to your safe this
if someone got hold of your private key
[216]
they would have access to everything in
your wallet they could send and receive
[220]
as they wish so with this private key
you can also print a paper wallet
[224]
version of it so that you have a cold
storage copy of that private key you can
[229]
then lock it away somewhere private so
for the purposes of this I'm going to
[233]
simply copy this and again it's giving
you those prompts do not lose it it
[237]
can't be recovered do not share it your
funds will be stolen and back it up so
[242]
now I'm going to do is click on to save
your address and there are different
[246]
ways that you can access your wallet so
you can access your wallet using meta
[250]
mask or missed the ledger hardware
wallet at res or Hardware wallet digital
[255]
bit box Keystone or JSON file which is
what we've just downloaded mnemonic
[259]
phrase or a private key I'm what I'm
going to do is I'm going to use the key
[264]
store or the Jason or father I've
downloaded
[267]
so if I just now navigate to that it
then informs me that my wallet is
[272]
encrypted and that I need to enter my
password now what I'm entering here is
[276]
the password that I put in on the
previous screen so I'm just going to go
[279]
ahead and type that in now so you're now
presented with your address so in here
[288]
is your address to receive funds from
others it then has access to that
[294]
encrypted file
it has your private key which is
[297]
encrypted and it has access to print a
paper wallet in here as well on your
[302]
right hand side here again you have your
account address which is your receive
[306]
address you have your account balance
which is currently showing as zero
[310]
etherium and you can view your
transaction history from here as well
[313]
you also have access to a QPR code as
well so that you can obviously and just
[319]
scan that and the private key that's
encrypted here so other features that
[324]
are available on mine's the wallet is
and you can send ether and tokens and
[329]
I'm going to be taking you through that
shortly you can also swap so you can
[332]
swap aetherium for Bitcoin for example
with the use of biti you can also
[337]
generate and send offline transactions
you could interact with contracts you've
[342]
then got Ian S domain sales you can
check your transaction statuses you've
[347]
got Willet information and you've got
help section in here as well what I'm
[351]
gonna do is take us through to send
ether and tokens now anytime you want to
[355]
do something within my ether wallet you
have to go through and select how you're
[360]
gonna access your wallet so again you
would go through if you have a hardware
[364]
device like a ledger wallet or example
you can use those what's also really
[368]
helpful is that if you actually click
onto any of these little and question
[372]
marks it will then take you through to
the ledger site for example and it will
[377]
explain how to use mine's the wallet
with ledger is really helpful and really
[382]
kind of descriptive of how you actually
interact with using mine's the wallet
[386]
with the different kinds of devices what
I'm gonna do is I'm gonna use the and
[390]
key storage a JSON file again I'm going
to select my wallet file and then click
[397]
on to unlock
[400]
why can then do is send ways at Oakland
so in here is where I was put the cinder
[406]
dress I would then put in the amount in
here as well now if you had tokens
[411]
already loaded up to here which I'm
going to show you shortly the tokens
[414]
would then appear in this drop down so
if for example you were sending tokens
[417]
those tokens would be available now
automatically the gas limit is set to
[422]
21,000 you can go through and change the
gas limits and this is how quickly the
[426]
transaction will go from A to B for
example and if you want to have a look
[430]
at information with regards to the gas
prices and the gas limits there's more
[435]
information in here so explains here
that the gas price is the amount you pay
[438]
per unit of gas and is paid to miners
for including your transaction in a
[443]
block the higher the gas price equals
the Falls of the transaction but it is
[447]
more expensive so then what you do is
just simply click on to generate and
[451]
your either would then sent and like I
said earlier the my teeth or wallet also
[455]
supports or ERC 20 tokens so all
etherion tokens which they are shown on
[462]
the right now because they're so may you
actually have to click on to load tokens
[465]
and what sort of loaders you can then
view all the different tokens that you
[469]
can use with my ease the wallet as you
can see there's a quite a vast amount of
[473]
different tokens that are supported if
the token that you have isn't available
[478]
in here you can also click on to add
custom token one thing to mention with
[482]
regards to your account address is that
you only have one aetherium address
[485]
which then works for aetherium it also
works for your etherion based tokens so
[489]
if you're receiving tokens might ease
the wallet is clever enough that it will
[493]
then designate and it will distribute
those into the correct token balances
[497]
now i recently invested into the kik ICO
and I invested using Bitcoin now what
[504]
was uh what was a shame is when it
actually went live is that they actually
[508]
dealt with all the etherion investments
first I was kind of left waiting quite a
[513]
long time to actually receive my token
and so obviously anyone that was before
[517]
me could obviously go through and sell
their tokens before I could or trade
[521]
with them so one thing I recommend is if
you are investing into these type of
[526]
ICOC invest with etherium as it kind of
removes any obstacles that you may face
[530]
what can I do now is
show you how to import your private keys
[534]
now you may want to import your keys
from different types of wallets I know
[538]
it some of them that are supported on
the lights-off blockchain or Exodus so I
[541]
want to show you through an example now
of how to import your blockchain private
[546]
keys now today I'm using a test
blockchain account so it doesn't matter
[550]
the fact that I'm going to be showing
you my private keys today as you can see
[553]
at the moment I've currently got nothing
in this wallet so the first thing you
[557]
would do is if you go to your ether and
then if you click on to export private
[562]
key
now here obviously it says granting
[564]
others access to this private key gives
them the ability to send either from
[568]
this address
exposing your private key to others is a
[571]
security risk that may result in lost
ether you will be asked for your main
[575]
password in order to continue now it's
very similar to any other type of
[579]
private key your private keys are
private for one and secondly it's like
[584]
giving the key away to your safe so it's
something that someone else gets hold of
[589]
then they have access to absolutely
everything in your wallet and can send
[593]
and receive as they please so what I'm
going to do now is I'm going to click on
[597]
to continue and then if you click on to
submit I think access to my private key
[601]
so all I'm gonna do for the moment is
I'm going to copy that private key and
[605]
close this file then take us back to my
ether wallet and now it's asking me how
[611]
I would like to access my wallet and
this time I'm going to do is select
[614]
private key I'm going to paste in that
private key that I've just copied from
[619]
my blockchain and then I'm gonna click
on to unlock your wallet so I've now got
[624]
access to that private key and I've now
opened up the account it should I've had
[629]
any and aetherium in here that would
obviously show up in here as well as any
[634]
tokens that I may have brought across as
well so I hope you found my teeth or
[638]
wallet tutorial today helpful and if you
did then please give me a like if you
[642]
