R2-D2 STAR WARS CHOCOLATES - NERDY NUMMIES - YouTube

Channel: Rosanna Pansino

[11]
Hey guys it’s Ro! Welcome to another Nerdy Nummies!
[14]
Valentines day is right around the corner, it’s less than 2 weeks away.
[18]
And, I have a lot of people in my life who love Star Wars!
[21]
I wanted to make something that was romantically geeky this year!
[25]
And, whether you’re making this for a friend, a family member or that special someone!
[30]
Today we’re gonna be making R2-D2 Chocolates!
[34]
Let’s get started!
[35]
The things you will need, will be: White chocolate melts, some macadamia nuts, caramel bites, cupcake liners,
[43]
an R2-D2 mold, I found this one online, I’ll put a link down below to make it easier.
[49]
An empty box of chocolates, you can find these in a ton of different stores
[53]
this time of year, or if you held onto 1 from last year, you an repurpose it!
[58]
Then to decorate, we’ve got a little R2-D2 template, every box will need 1
[63]
R2-D2 character, but if you’re gonna make a bunch of gift boxes, I just put it
[67]
into a template, I made it in photoshop and I’ll put a link down below
[71]
if you want to use it!
[72]
A blue and red piece of construction paper, scissors, a white sharpie paint pen,
[77]
a pencil and a glue stick.
[80]
Now let’s put it all together!
[82]
Today I’m gonna be making 2 different types of chocolate candies. Starting off
[86]
with white chocolate macadamia nut, mmmmmm!
[90]
These are 1 of my favorite cookie flavors, I love white chocolate macadamia nut
[94]
cookies! So good!
[96]
Alright, so the first thing that we’re gonna do is we're gonna take some macadamia nuts and
[99]
crush them up, you can do this any way you’d like, but this is what I like to do.
[103]
Take a little ziplock baggie, boop!
[106]
Pour a few in there, close it tight, errrooop!
[111]
Push out the air! So my bag doesn’t pop!
[114]
And then, take a rolling pin, and crush ā€˜em up!
[119]
Yeah!
[121]
Oh yeah! These are ready to nom on!
[125]
Also a side note, the macadamia nuts that I’m using have sea salt on them,
[129]
and I really like that because I like having a little bit of salt with my sweet.
[134]
The next thing that we're gonna do is melt our white chocolate.
[136]
I heated mine up in the microwave, but you can also use a double boiler method,
[140]
whatever you’d like.
[141]
And now, I’m just gonna scoop it into a little decorating bag, you don’t have
[145]
to do this, but I like to do it for a little bit more control.
[148]
Then, I’m twisting a little rubber band tie, tying the top of the bag.
[152]
To assemble our little chocolate R2-D2’s, the first thing that you’re gonna do is,
[157]
put in a thin layer of chocolate, on the bottom.
[161]
Doo-doo-doo-doooooo!
[162]
And, spread it around! So that there’s no mold showing, it should be all covered.
[167]
I got my first 1 done, and while that is setting, I’m gonna fill the rest of my molds.
[172]
Now that the first layer of chocolate has set, now we’re gonna add our fillings.
[175]
I’m gonna be adding a little bit of crushed macadamia nut, yum-yum-yum-yum-yum!
[181]
I just got a little spoon just gonna place it in the middle, shake some in there.
[184]
Boop-boop-a-doop!
[185]
Then, I’ve got these little carmel bites! I really like these because look
[189]
how small they are, they’re perfect, you can just go plop-plop!
[192]
Now we're gonna add the final layer, the top layer of chocolate, to sandwich these little
[197]
treats in, yum-yum-yum!
[199]
I also like to give it a little tap, just a little bit. Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo!
[204]
Now we’re gonna put these little chocolates into the freezer for about 10 minutes
[208]
to set, and while they are setting we’re gonna do some arts and crafts!
[211]
While our chocolates are chilling in the freezer, we are gonna be making some
[215]
decorations. The first thing that I’m gonna do is cut out some R2-D2’s
[220]
from the template I made. Just take your scissors, and I made sure to print it
[224]
on a thicker piece of printer construction paper.
[227]
We’ve got our little R2 cut out now, and now we are gonna cut out designs for the
[231]
top of the box. Take off the lid of whatever chocolate box you’re using, and
[236]
you’re gonna place it face down on top of a piece of construction paper.
[240]
I found these at Michael’s they have a ton of them, a ton of different colors,
[243]
so you can make them whatever color you want.
[245]
You’re gonna take your pencil, trace the shape, roop! Of the heart all the way around.
[249]
Now, you’re gonna take your scissors and cut it out!
[252]
Well I never! Hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm!
[255]
Is it arts and crafts time, or is it….
[259]
Hearts and crafts time?
[261]
Now the next thing that we’re gonna do, we're gonna cut a smaller heart to fit on the
[264]
inside of our red heart. In the past I’ve used big, heart shaped cookie cutters,
[270]
whatever you have around the house. And I had another little candy
[273]
box that I used last year.
[275]
And so what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna take the lid off, boop! And I’m gonna use
[278]
this as a stencil! And again, take your pencil, trace the outline,
[282]
all the way around. And then again, take your scissors and cut it out!
[287]
Now that we’ve got our two hearts cut out and our little R2-D2, we are going to
[291]
put the little R2-D2 onto the blue heart, using our glue stick.
[295]
Apply the glue on the back of our little R2-D2, then I'm just gonna lightly place him near the
[301]
bottom of the heart.
[302]
We have got little R2 glued on there and now we are gonna write a little personalized
[307]
message. There are so many cute things that you could write.
[310]
I’m gonna sketch mine in pencil first, because I tend to misspell things.
[314]
And then I’m gonna trace over it with my sharpie paint pen.
[316]
There are many corny little messages you could write.
[319]
You could write, ā€œYou R2 Awesome!ā€ Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!
[325]
Or, ā€œYou are the droid I’m looking for!ā€ Oooh-oooh-oooh!
[329]
I think I’m gonna be writing, you are the Obi-Wan for me!
[334]
De-dew! Now we’ve got our cute little message, and now we’re gonna glue this all
[338]
together, we’re gonna glue our blue heart, right in the center!
[341]
Alright, now we’re gonna glue this on the top of our box!
[344]
Boom! There you have it! And now we’re gonna get our chocolates out of the freezer!
[348]
And fill this little box up, yum-yum-yum-yum-yum-yum!
[351]
Just took our R2 chocolates out of the freezer, and now we are gonna pop them
[355]
out onto this little cutting board. This mold makes 4 of the small R2’s, so
[360]
I’m gonna be making a double batch. Because, 8 little candies fit in this little box!
[365]
Over here is my little chocolate box and I’ve lined it with the little cupcake
[368]
liners, and 8 fit in there perfectly!
[371]
And I really like these molds because they’re kind of rubbery so you can pull them
[374]
apart, and stretch them to get your candies out of there.
[376]
Oh my gosh they’re so cute! Beep-boop-boop-boop-reep-reep!
[380]
That means I think he’s cute!
[382]
Alright, then you’re gonna put him in the little cupcake liners, boop,
[385]
right at the bottom!
[386]
Ta-da! Here are the R2-D2 Chocolates that we made for Valentines Day!
[391]
We also made, a custom Chocolate Box lid!
[394]
You’re the Obi-Wan for me! Dawwww!
[398]
And inside we have our little custom candies!
[401]
We made white chocolate macadamia nut and white chocolate caramel candies.
[406]
I really like making chocolate candies as gifts because, they’re easy, they’re
[410]
fun, and you can customize them to whatever flavors that people like.
[413]
Also, I’ll post a bunch of photos on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.
