Optics Guide 1/17 - The Wrong Question to Find the Best Scope - YouTube

this question is the one that i see most often  not just here at the social regressive but out on  

forums on facebook posts on comments that you'll  see down below on websites this is a question that  

will almost invariably get the wrong answer not  because the person that's answering the question  

doesn't know their stuff but because the question  itself is wrong that's the purpose of this first  

video in what is going to be an absolutely  massive series talking about optics i want  

to help everybody out there pick the perfect scope  for them or at least to be able to ask the right  

question to somebody else so that they can find  that perfect scope some initial things to keep  

in mind as we jump into this content first off i  don't know everything i'm not going to pretend to  

i'm just a user i like to knock down tahr gets  i like to hunk and i've hunk ted everything from  

prairie dogs up through you know white tails and  i've had a whole lot of fun using different scopes  

for all these different purposes other folks are  down in the comments they're gonna know more than  

i do they've maybe hunk ted different game uh  they have been in different scenarios uh you  

have you're gonna have your soldier types that  are gonna have more information about you know  

maybe some of the auntie personnel sort of things uh  that we have here and then we're gonna have people  

that have actually man you fractured some of these  scopes we're going to be hearing from folks that  

you know have really designed and set up these  scopes and maybe built them so they'll have some  

information that i won't but i think that we're  still going to be able to get down to the actual  

purpose here but do pay attention to those  comments down below now another thing is that  

it's easy to take a look at some of the scopes  on the modern market and just be looking for  

features this is a lot like how we purchase  cars you know does it have the right cup holders  

does it have you know bose sound system does it  have vehicle dynamic control and all this stuff  

when maybe none of it is what you actually want  you know for me i want a car that does a specific  

thing and then all the other bells and whistles  i'd actually rather them not be there at all and  

that might apply to your scope selection as well  alright so now to the meat of this whole thing  

everything needs to have a purpose especially  your scope your rival should be purpose-built  

as well and maybe we'll talk about how to select  a cartridge you know do a series on that as well  

if you're interested put a comment down  below if you'd like to see that but  

your scope selection should be very purposeful  and this comes down to a variety of factors some  

things that you need to think about and that you  need to include in that bigger question if you're  

going to ask somebody if such and such scope is  right for you or what scope might fit your bill  

so what's the real bottom line here what is your  purpose and what are the real questions that you  

need to be asking yourself for now we're going to  set aside the rival we're going to set aside the  

cartridge those are parameters that we're going  to plug in but for now we have one main thing  

that we need to think about and that is the tahr  get think about where you want that bull it to go  

so what is the distance to your tahr get what is  the size what is its speed is it dangerous and how  

many of them are there i think these are the five  questions that you need to begin with i'll leave  

these up here for a little bit and i'll put them  down in the description below if you can answer  

these five questions and maybe get these five  answers out there if you're talking to somebody  

on a forum asking about a particular rival  scope then i think you're going to be heading  

in the right direction and someone's going  to be able to get you a much better answer  

than maybe you would have gotten in the past  now these are just some of the things that  

we're going to be thinking about hence the 14 part  series and we're going to be talking about how to  

answer those questions and how to find the scope  that you know meets those needs but then we also  

have some other things that we're going to plug  in as well like we will be talking about different  

types of rivals and the cartridges and how they're  going to mesh with the scope as well we've got a  

lot to think about and make sure that again you  subscribe to the channel and keep an eye on this

so that instead of having things hanging  out for a really long time we're going to
